~ Nikola Tesla, the technological “father” of our modern world
O
nce upon a time, there was a confident young woman on the fast track to becoming what everyone expected her to be. She thought she knew a lot of what there was to know. Then one day she received an unexpected gift, a session with Nicole Miale an astrologer. Off she went, with a great deal of skepticism. The reading itself was interesting, but the astrologer’s recommendation was what really confused the young woman. “I highly recommend you seek some vibrational healing,” the astrologer said. The young woman left, clutching a paper with the recommended practitioner’s name but without intention of acting on the advice. She worked in healthcare, after all; she knew there was no such thing as vibrational healing! Then a curious thing happened. She called the number on the paper and made an appointment for something she thought was probably nonsense. The woman she was sent to see was a shamanic practitioner in Westport who would go on to become an assistant for world-renowned spiritual healer John of God. The young woman was in very good hands, but she had no idea of that. She laid on a massage table, eyes closed, listening to drumming and chanting, and thinking, “This is nuts. What am I doing here?” Her litany of negative thoughts went on, but suddenly she felt… something. It wasn’t external, but inside her body. The odd sensation grew. She lay still, her mind finally quiet, feeling a bit panicked, but more afraid to move and stop the feeling than to let it continue. It felt like sparklers were being set off all over her body. A current she’d never felt before began to hum inside her. When the session was over, she surreptitiously scanned the room for heat lamps, trip wires, anything which might explain the odd sensations she’d just experienced. She saw nothing her mind could use to rationalize the experience. All she saw was some crystals, drums, rattles, art, and a massage table. She tried to put it out of her mind, but the experience stuck with her. Months later she was visiting her mother and was suffering from a bad cold. Her mom offered to give her a Reiki treatment. The young woman had scoffed at many such offers before, but this time she accepted. As she laid on the table, she felt an incredibly powerful heat, as if the intensity of the whole sun was directed specifically at her very sore throat. When she opened her eyes, her mother was at the foot of the massage table, nowhere near her throat, which now felt much better. After the session, she sat on the table, looked at her mother and cried. “How is this possible?” she asked in a scared whisper. “How did you do that?” That is the true story of my first two aware experiences with energy healing. They cracked my world wide open, made the impossible possible and forever altered my view of how things work. I went on to immerse myself in a Master’s degree in Experiential Health and Healing, becoming an energy healer, purposefully seeking the unknown, the curious, the downright mystical. After all my years of study, I never forget know how little I know. In this issue, we explore vibration, how it works and its impact on health. We are all made of energy and in constant resonance or dissonance with the world, people and things around us. This creates infinite healing possibilities if we are open to them. Welcome to the new year and a new world. I am holding the intention for each of you to experience more peace, joy and love in the coming year. May these articles, ideas, practitioners and businesses provide inspiration, hope, relief or a spark of curiosity about things unseen, yet so essential to our very existence. With Love and Light,

atural Awakenings Publishing Corp. (NAPC) welcomed two new publishers to a recent training session at the corporate headquarters in Naples, Florida. ur Lady of Calvary Retreat Center in Farmington will host a workshop on intuitive drawing and writing from 9am to 1pm on January 24. For others, it may just be a small step outside the comfort zone to experience what possibilities may exist. A pioneer of abstract art in the early 20th century, Jean (AKA Hans) Arp was one of the first artists to be recognized for making intuition, randomness and chance part of his work. This program is presented in partnership with the artists at Dick Blick. No previous art experience or skills are necessary to attend. To register, call 860-677-8519 or email OLCRetreat@sbcglobal.net. Cost: $30, includes lunch. Location: 31 Colton St, Farmington.

ohn Bazzano is now accepting appointments for John of God Crystal Bed sessions at Sharing The Light Wholistic Center in Avon. The concept of the Crystal Bed, also called crystal bath therapy, was channeled through John of God. It was developed for practical use and incorporated as an important modality at the Casa Dom Inacio in Brazil. The Crystal Beds are available to all for rejuvenation, alignment and balancing of energy fields. Bazzano met John of God in Brazil in 2015 and had a lifechanging experience while there for two weeks. He bought his Crystal Bed there and has given hundreds of treatments since then. He is a certified Usui and Karuna Reiki Master, is experienced in Quantum Touch and hypnosis and has years of experience with sound and vibration using tuning forks. A Crystal Bed has seven extremely clear and highly polished Vogel cut quartz crystals suspended approximately 12 inches above the client lying on a massage table. Each of the quartz crystals has been cut to a specific frequency. Each crystal is aligned above one of the seven human energy centers, or chakras. Colored lights, chosen to match the vibrational frequency of chakra colors, radiate light and energy through the crystals to each respective chakra, (energy centers of the spiritual and physical body) and shine on and off in certain rhythms to cleanse, balance and align energies. Each and every person who receives a Crystal Bed treatment reports a different effect, each experience being relevant and unique to his/her own condition, needs and level of awareness. The experience is totally individual. Though the effects of this service are priceless, a non-refundable charge of $150 is required to book an appointment.

Richard Kottmeyer, a senior managing partner at Fork to Farm Advisory Services, explained that Millennials need to be “inspired and coached” to consume more animal products, according to an article published on WattAgNet.com, an industry website. “Compared to their parents, Millennials are more likely to believe in evolution and accept that climate change is occurring. They seek out facts and science to better understand a complex world, but the poultry industry doesn’t have any fact-based information to defend its cruel, unsanitary practices,” states animal rights advocate Nathan Runkle via EcoWatch.com. The majority of chickens raised for meat have been bred to grow so large so quickly that they collapse under their own unnatural weight. North Carolina has enacted an “ag-gag” bill, making it illegal to photograph or videotape animal abuse.
Crackdown Needed
Glyphosate Found in Breakfast Foods
Of 24 breakfast food samples tested by the Alliance for Natural Health USA, 10 showed the presence of glyphosate. Executive and Legal Director Gretchen DuBeau states, “We expected that trace amounts would show up in foods containing large amounts of corn and soy. However, we were unprepared for just how invasive this poison has been to our entire food chain.” In the study, the chemical, now revealed to be a probable carcinogen by the World Health Organization, was found in oatmeal, bagels, eggs, potatoes and non-GMO soy coffee creamer. The presence of glyphosate in dairy products may be due to bioaccumulation in the tissue of animals. DuBeau adds, “Glyphosate has been linked to increases in levels of breast, thyroid, kidney, pancreatic, liver and bladder cancers, and is being served for breakfast, lunch and dinner worldwide. The fact that it is showing up in foods like eggs and coffee creamers, which don’t directly contact the herbicide, proves that it’s being passed on by animals that ingest it in their feed. This is contrary to everything that regulators and industry scientists have been telling the public.” 12

ith over 10 different sightings already reported in Connecticut—and perhaps a hundred or more from Virginia to Maine—there is no doubt this is an irruption year. In the winter of 2013-14, there was an amazing influx of “snowies”. Scientists report that such irruptions are the result not of lemming shortages in the north, but of periods of lemming abundance. This results in a highly productive breeding season for the owls, and thus many more young owls heading south. The high number of immature owls during these invasions provides evidence that breeding season in the Arctic was indeed highly successful. A large northern owl, the Snowy Owl is our heaviest owl. It is an unmistakable white raptor that perches prominently in open areas. Open marshes, dunes, farmland and other open areas are good places to look. Although mostly white, they vary in the amount of dark barring on their feathers; the young birds are more heavily barred than adults, and females more than males. In flight, their heavy build, round head and broad white wings are distinctive. These owls are active during the daytime, often moving from perch to perch and observed hunting. It’s worth emphasizing that there are three basic rules that Snowy Owl observers are expected to follow (borrowed from Project SNOWStorm): 1. Keep your distance. 2. Respect private property. 3. Don’t ever feed an owl. At the Milford Point Coastal Center, look for this bird on the exposed sandbar in front of the Center, but also perched on flotsam in the marsh. Milford Point, Stratford Point and Stratford’s Long Beach have reported birds this year. One or two have been seen at the mouth of the Connecticut River. Sightings at Hammonasset Beach State Park, Stratford’s Sikorsky Airport and Stonington Point were recently reported. Additionally, there were at least a couple of reports from inland locations. An all-white Snowy was perching on a rooftop at Gouveia Winery in Wallingford, on December 10, and an early-morning driver saw one fly across the road in Bloomfield at 1:30am. Snowy Owls are relatively easy to find in an irruption year. Focusing on coastal areas is your best bet. Scan all open areas for a prominent white bump in an exposed area. Sometimes they may be found roosting on a rooftop of a beach cottage, but almost never in a tree. You will do best if you use a spotting scope. One good way to find a Snowy Owl is to look for a gaggle of warmly-dressed men and women with scopes and cameras on tripods; they are birders who are observing the bird. If it isn’t there, there are lots of winter birds moving down along the shoreline now, including a variety of duck species such as Red-breasted Merganser, Bufflehead, and Common Goldeneye, Red-throated and Common Loon, and many other waterbirds frequenting the same general location as the owl. The IUCN lists the Snowy Owl as a species of “least concern”. Andy Griswold is Director of Connecticut Audubon’s EcoTravel Program.Visit CTAudubon.org for more information.

Natural device stops a cold before it starts
New research: Copper stops colds if used early.
N
ew research shows you can stop a cold in its tracks if you take one simple step with a new device when you first feel a cold coming on. Colds start when cold viruses get in your nose. Viruses multiply fast. If you don’t stop them early, they spread in your airways and cause misery. But scientists have found a quick way to stop a virus. Touch it with copper. Researchers at labs and universities worldwide agree — copper is “antimicrobial.” It kills microbes, such as viruses and bacteria, just by touch. Four thousand years ago ancient Greeks and Egyptians used copper to purify water and heal wounds. Now we know why it worked so well. Researchers say a tiny electric charge in microbe cells gets short-circuited by the high conductance of copper. This destroys the cell in seconds. Tests by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) show germs die fast on copper. So some hospitals switched to copper touch surfaces, like faucets and doorknobs. This cut the spread of MRSA and other illnesses by over half, and saved lives. The strong scientific evidence gave inventor Doug Cornell an idea. When he felt a cold coming on he fashioned a smooth copper probe and rubbed it gently in his nose for 60 seconds. “It worked!” he exclaimed. “The cold went away completely.” It worked
Some users say it also helps with sinuses. Attorney Donna Blight had a 2-day sinus headache. When her CopperZap arrived, she tried it. “I am shocked!” she said. “My head cleared, no more headache, no more congestion.” Some users say copper stops nighttime stuffiness if they use it just before bed. One man said, “Best sleep I’ve had in years.” Users also report success in stopping cold sores when used at the first sign of a tingle in the lip. One woman said, “I tried every product on the market over 20 years. Some helped a little, but this stopped it from happening in the first place.” The handle is sculptured to fit the hand and finely textured to improve contact. So he patented CopperZap™ and put it on the market. Soon hundreds of people had tried it and given feedback. Nearly 100 percent said the copper stops their colds if used within 3 hours of the first sign. Even up to 2 days after the first sign, if they still get the cold it is milder and they feel better. Users wrote things like, “It stopped my cold right away,” and “Is it supposed to work that fast?” Pat McAllister, age 70, received one as a gift and called it “one of the best presents ever. Choosing a Chiropractor How to Find the Best One for You
C

hiropractic medicine is known for its non-surgical approach to chronic pain and other musculoskeletal conditions, but also has much more to offer. However, finding the right doctor can be as daunting as shopping for a comfortable pair of shoes. Here, three reputable practitioners talk about securing individualized care and getting the most out of chiropractic.
Address Specific Needs Clarifying the desired outcome is helpful, because some clients are just looking for a quick fix to reduce pain, while others may be seeking overall better health, lasting wellness and an improved quality of life. “Due to insurance issues, we’ve become known as pain doctors, but that’s not the full extent of chiropractic,” explains Dr. Michelle Robin, owner of Your Wellness Connection and the educational DrMichelleRobin.com website, in Shawnee, Kansas. “Also, you can see more than one chiropractor, as each has their own strength.” Dr. Michael Aho, of Crosstown Chiropractic, in Chicago, agrees. “Chiropractic care encompasses many styles, so 14

one of the biggest variables is the type of treatment the doctor uses. Most offices commonly treat neck, mid-back and low back pain. If you have a specific shoulder, knee or foot problem, you may want to find a doctor that frequently treats those issues. If you are pregnant, choose a chiropractor that has experience working with pregnant women.” “There are more than 140 different chiropractic techniques. Some are light touch, while others are aggressive. Some are hands-on and some use instruments for adjusting. It’s important that the doctor’s approach resonates with your nature,” advises Dr. Jackie St.Cyr of the Innate Chiropractic Healing Arts Center, in Houston. Robin advises that sitting in a doctor’s reception room to just observe and trusting our intuition is helpful before moving forward with a consultation.
Ask Questions First, find out if a chiropractor has embraced either a conventional medical or holistic model, and then delve more deeply to find the right approach and level of care. “Ask how long a doctor has practiced and their governing philoso-

phy. Do they treat the full spine or focus on the point of pain, and what range of techniques do they apply? You want them to know your spine before they adjust it; make sure they conduct a new patient exam,” suggests St.Cyr. An exam may include a thermography scan and X-rays. Helpful questions include what to expect during the initial visit, recommended frequency of treatment, the desired doctor’s office hours and how treatment might benefit a particular condition. Because most chiropractic offices offer compatible treatments, also ask about complementary modalities such as acupuncture, massage therapy, heat therapy, and interferential current therapy using minute electrical pulses for deep tissue pain relief.
Be Consistent “You shouldn’t expect instant results,” says Aho. “You’ll benefit the most if you don’t wait too long after first experiencing symptoms of a problem before starting treatment, and are consistent with your treatment.” Being proactive can foster good results. St.Cyr concurs, stating, “When patients follow their chiropractor’s recommended routine of regular corrective care, they get the best results. Be consistent with visits and do your customized spinal exercises; they’ve been proven to work.” Robin expounds that not following through with homecare is a common pitfall for patients. “Like dental care, you always need to do something for your spine every day, be it stretching, other exercise or good nutrition.” She notes that everyone’s response to chiropractic is different. “Be realistic. If you’ve experienced injuries or accidents, it will take longer, and your healing might look different from that of someone else that is free of injuries and follows a healthier diet. Sometimes people give up on chiropractic instead of finding a chiropractor that is good for them. You wouldn’t give up going to the dentist, and the same should apply to chiropractic care.” Marlaina Donato is a freelance writer, author and multimedia artist. Connect at MarlainaDonato.com.

t’s an uncertain time for home-based geothermal heating and cooling, which has been increasing for years. The good news is that the cost of the technology is down and its efficiency is up. Yet a helpful 30 percent federal income tax credit inaugurated in 2009 disappeared in 2017 and may not get renewed anytime soon, even though H.R. 1090, a bill aimed at restoring the credit, has had strong support in Congress, led by New York Republican Congressman Tom Reed. While ideal spots for tapping into Earth’s energy are where tectonic plates meet and move, such as along the U.S. West Coast and in Alaska, it’s a mispercep16

tion that it’s only possible in corresponding states. Anyone in the U.S. can use a geothermal heat pump, which works by accessing the constant 50-degree temperature just below the Earth’s surface. Iceland is equipped to get 50 percent of its energy from geothermal. Other countries now accessing it for at least 15 percent of their energy include Costa Rica, El Salvador, Kenya and the Philippines.

While they can cost $20,000 to $25,000 for an average-sized home, the systems are long-lasting; most provide a 10-year or longer warranty, based on having few moving parts that may break. The aboveground compressor and pump have a 20-year life expectancy and the expensive underground piping system should last a lifetime, says Brian Clark Howard, a National Geographic editor and co-author of Geothermal HVAC [heating, ventilation and air conditioning]. “Once the wells are dug and the loops are in, you’ll probably never have to revisit them.” According to Ryan Dougherty, chief operating officer of the Geothermal Exchange Organization, which represents manufacturers and installers, a typical home system costs approximately $24,000 installed, including the ground heat exchanger and all necessary ductwork. Renewable energy often makes sense without subsidies. Dougherty still sees geothermal as a good deal for homeowners, with a payback period of seven to 10 years. Dale Binkley of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, installed his home’s geothermal heat pump in 2006, before the 30 percent federal tax credit took effect. His outof-pocket cost was $23,522, with a small federal credit and modest rebate from the local utility. Binkley is pleased. “The system is easy to maintain, cost efficient, and works well. It heats and cools better than I thought it would,” he says. Binkley saved $1,000 on his heating and cooling bill the first year, a savings he continues to enjoy every year.
Added Benefits “You’ll gain outstanding temperature and humidity control, plus a better running, more-efficient HVAC system,” Howard says. “Installing geothermal will also increase property values.” Institutional customers reap comparable benefits. As a tax-exempt entity, the Cozy Green Library, in Darien, Connecticut, uses geothermal heating and cooling, along with energyefficient computers, LED light bulbs and storm water biofiltration, Carefully evaluating options allows homeowners and commercial landlords to make an informed decision about tapping into Earth’s free energy.

Good Vibrations
Healing with Sound, Energy and Technology by Bradford Tilden
V
edic scripture speaks of four Yugas, or grand cycles, each with a duration of 432,000 years. We are currently in the Kali Yuga, which began around 3102 BCE. The Kali Yuga is a Dark Age characterized by discord and degeneration. Our orbit through this cycle is elliptical, just like every orbit. We have been at the apogee—the darkest phase—of this huge cycle, but we are starting to round the curve toward the light, toward a galactic summer where the vibrations of cosmic radiation become stronger and the level of energy increases, affecting everything from planets to protons. Interestingly enough, our solar system is also passing through the photon belt—a high-frequency band of electromagnetic energy that was first discovered by satelliteborn instrument in 1961. The Earth passes through the Photon Belt twice every 26,000
years and the increase in energy affects the material world and our consciousness. Basically, what is happening outside us is also happening at the cellular and quantum levels. Imagine walking along in the airport with a steady pace and you come upon one of those flat, Jetson-like accelerated walkways. If you continue walking with your steady pace onto the ramp, your body experiences a moment of disorientation as it catches up to the relative speed of the ramp. Once it does, you continue walking your pace at the accelerated speed but it doesn’t feel like you are walking any faster. That is because your body, at the molecular level, has adjusted to the new speed. What if your body didn’t make the appropriate adjustment? Maybe you weren’t paying attention, or the ramp was moving faster than you anticipated. What if you didn’t realize the ramp was there? Or didn’t

realize you were actually moving faster? In all instances, your body eventually acclimated to the new speed. Consider Earth, the planet we live on, as similar to one of those ramps. These days, we need to have constant awareness and allow for our bodies to readjust, ensuring we remain balanced and grounded, lest we stumble and fall. In his best-selling book, Medical Medium, Anthony William uses the term “mystery illnesses” to describe a growing category of modern ailments that defy western medical understanding. Some examples are fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and Crohn’s disease, not to mention Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and AIDS. Allergies and sensitivities to gluten, peanuts and EMFs, detergents and fabric softeners are also on the rise. Fibromyalgia, for example, was first identified in 1904 in a paper written by British neurologist Sir William Gowers. Presently, approximately one in 50 Americans is estimated to have fibromyalgia, or between 3 and 6 million people in the U.S., according to the America College of Rheumatology. Why the steady rise in instances of this and the other mystery illnesses? Certainly environmental pollutants and toxins are a factor, as is diet and genetic disposition. But western medicine is largely at a loss to uncover, define and diagnose the root causes of all of these ailments, and is only able to provide alleviation or management of symptoms. People are seeking other options. Perhaps the emergence of such challenges is related to the rising frequencies of energy to which we are now being exposed. What if these are in fact indivual bodies struggling to adjust to the higher vibrations?
What is a Vibration? The Merriam Webster Dictionary has defined vibration as a rapid motion of the particles of an elastic body or substance back and forth (as when a stretched chord produces a musical tone or molecules in the air transmit sounds to the ear) or a trembling motion or a feeling or impression that someone or something gives off—usually used in plural, as in good vibrations. Some synonyms for vibration are jiggling, oscillation, quivering, shuddering and twitching. These are also common massage techniques, so massage therapy can and should be considered a vibrational healing technique.
Using vibration to heal is very common in the animal kingdom. Whenever an animal experiences trauma, it finds a quiet place and relieves the trauma by shaking, trembling, shuddering and twitching so it may release the cellular memory of the trauma and return to balance. These releases occur through a phenomenon known as sympathetic vibration, or sympathetic resonance. Sympathetic resonance is a key factor in vibrational healing. This phenomenon can be observed when a G string on a violin is plucked and a G string on a neighboring guitar starts to vibrate. This happens because the vibrations, the sound waves, from the violin are the same size as the ones the guitar can produce. This is precisely what occurs when one experiences a cathartic release. The right amount of pressure on the knot—or listening to a piece of music, or a smell, for example— can unlock and release the blocked emotions locked in the cells. Emotion, after all, is energy in motion. Despite the diversity of vibrational healing types and techniques, they all operate along a few basic principles. Most of these principles can be understood with the study of wave dynamics. The behavior of ocean waves provides a great illustration. If two waves of equal energy meet at their high points, the result is a peak twice the size of the individual waves. If they both meet at their low points, the result is a trough twice as deep as their low points. If they meet where one is at this high point and the other at the low point, the result is a flat surface. They cancel each other out. This is called phase cancellation. Phase cancellation technology is being used along high-speed motorways in Germany. Microphones pick up the sound of traffic and a sound processer inverts the waveforms. Then speakers broadcast that sound back out and the effect is silence. No need for walls of wood for sound barriers. Phase cancellation can nullify pain if the right frequency is known.

here are many proven and some newer methodologies in the area of vibrational healing. The most common are sound, light, color, aroma, Reiki (and other hands-on energy healing techniques), acupuncture, massage, flower essences, water, kinesiology, homeopathy, radionics, crystals, and even intuition through thought. Many cultures incorporate singing and chanting in healing processes by vibrating the vocal cords. Others discovered or invented other objects to initiate healing vibration and energy, including tuning forks, gongs, didgeridoos, sound bowls and various types of drums and musical instruments. This category also includes essential oils and flower essences which help to raise our vibration out of the frequencies where illness lives. With more scientific means of measurement and technological advancements, there are many new devices that marry the wisdom of the past to newer delivery models of today. Due diligence is encouraged; vibrational healing intent should be to assist our own process by removing energetic blockages that starve the body of its lifeaffording energy. Some popular technological devices are the Rife Frequency Generator multiwave oscillator, Chiren/biophoton light therapy, scalar wave technology, BEMER mats, aura imaging and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), to name a few. PEMF devices are more readily available now and demonstrate good effect on many conditions. Greg Madden is the director of the Xenia Wellness Center in Hunter, NY. When two waveform frequencies are identical, amplification begins to occur. If the violin string is bowed continuously, the guitar string would vibrate with more intensity. To shatter a wine glass is to discern its resonant pitch and generate a sound with that same pitch, increasing the volume until the vibration of the glass reaches critical capacity and shatters. This concept is being exploited in the medical field. Ultrasonic frequencies are being used now to rupture and destroy abnormally shaped cancer cells, while the integrity of healthy walls can withstand the vibration, according to a study published on HealingCancerNaturally.com. The same vibrational technology has been in place to non-invasively break down kidney and gallstones for years. Sound affects matter at the molecular, physical and physiological levels. The study of this, called cymatics, was first investigated by the Swiss scientist Hans Jenny. He discovered that sound organizes matter into geometric shapes and patterns, especially pure simple tones like sine waves. The sounds of a dial tone or of a television before an emergency broadcast test are examples of sine waves. Crystal bowls, for example, produce simple sound waves that are very similar to sine waves, which is why they have a hypnotic, focusing, grounding effect.
Entrainment Entrainment is another key concept in vibrational healing. Entrainment occurs when vibrating bodies adapt to a dominant vibration. With entrainment, you can slow the brainwaves down to the delta state. Sound waves and brainwaves are measured in cycles per second. This unit of measurement is called Herz (Hz). “A” 440 is a specific frequency of sound (pitch) that vibrates at 440 cycles per second. 4-8 Hz is the frequency of the Delta Brainwave state of deep meditation/trance induction where deep healing and regeneration occur. A stereo sound healing technology called binaural beats entrains the brain to slow down to a desired frequency by “fooling” it into hearing frequencies at 4-8 Hz. Hemi-sync.com is the leading producer of sound healing music with this technology. Just like the spectrum of sound frequencies, crystals and gemstones have varying frequencies that individually or collectively align with more subtle levels of the body-energy matrix and interact in the same way. A classic example of amplification here is the Rose Quartz/Heart Chakra pairing. The average frequency of the Heart Chakra is very similar to the frequency of Rose Quartz. When a Rose Quartz is placed on the Heart Chakra, the Heart Chakra is strengthened because of the natural effect of amplification. Taking these basic concepts and examples of how vibrational healing works on different levels into consideration, you may now be able to more readily discern what vibrational healing modalities work for you and why. Listen to your body. If you feel you resonate with something, anything, explore that connection. On a very elemental and real level, your energies are compatible. Everything in existence has a vibration. Therefore, everything can be viewed as a potential source of imbalance or a potential tool for vibrational healing. Bradford W. Therapeutic Gemstones Heal Family Karma Rebalance and Release with Gentle Support
M
by Isabelle Morton
any of us experience experience an upsurge of family karma during and after holiday gatherings. One simple yet effective tool for dealing with family karma is gemstone therapy, which can help balance and release accumulations of karma to allow for new understanding and healing. Wearing gemstones can reduce a person’s vulnerability to karmic patterns, which is especially helpful at family gatherings. All healing gemstones have a grounding and uplifting effect, and are also nourishing. A person with a well-nourished aura is easier to be around. They are less likely to instigate or be the victim of uncomfortable behaviors among family members. Gemstones also naturally raise vibrations. When vibrations rise, unwanted energies are released, and healing occurs. The light within you—and your family— brightens. Look for this inherent light in others, and enjoy the blessing of family in your life. The challenges they may bestow are the bedrock of growth and healing. Therapeutic gemstones may be worn as necklaces and bracelets. Necklaces address the whole person. To help heal family karma, one side of the body is typically more involved than the other, so bracelets are ideal. We tend to inherit specific issues and conditions from one side of the family. Either our mother and her ancestors or our father and his parents and grandparents have passed down certain karmic traits. Wearing bracelets (or a necklace wrapped
around the wrist) allows us to address the karma that often rides upon maternal and paternal lines of ancestry. By focusing on one side of the family history at a time, we can address traits picked up as children, become more aware of why we’ve taken them on and work to resolve them. Green and Pink Tourmaline are two gemstones that vitalize the masculine and feminine energies respectively. By working with these gemstones, often one side of the body relates to the paternal lineage and the other to the maternal. In Gemstone Therapy, the right half usually corresponds with the masculine and the left half to the feminine. It becomes a simple formula of choosing which side to address based on the issues that need attention. Wearing gemstones on the right wrist can help a person work through issues tied into the paternal lineage, while bracelets on the left focus their energies on the maternal side of the family. It can also be useful to switch sides and wear as many different therapeutic gemstone bracelets as the body calls for. Each additional bracelet a person wears makes the gemstones’ work more specific. Before putting on a gemstone bracelet, a person should think about why they want to wear gemstones. What issues or conditions need to be addressed? Once they know what they want to work on, it will become clearer which bracelets their body calls for. Gemstone bracelets to consider for addressing family karma issues include: opalite/golden beryl to help stay in the
now and keep the past in the past; a formula called “Loving Me”, which consists of rhodochrosite, peach moonstone and marble, to help break up unwanted patterns and habitual responses; the “HeartSong” formula, consisting of morganite, white beryl and rhodonite, to provide the emotional strength to deal with the karma; and rhodonite/pink tourmaline to build a foundation of emotional strength to face any situation with grace. After selecting a bracelet, the next step is to decide which wrist to wear it on. Simply ask yourself, “Which side do I feel like wearing it on?” This alone can reveal the ancestral source of the condition. While one parent may be primarily responsible for an undesirable behavior, the other parent usually allowed or enabled it. For this reason, we can often learn lessons and receive insights by wearing bracelets on either wrist. Most of the time when we reflect on a certain trait and then think about our parents, the source isn’t hard to pinpoint. If any uncertainty exists, it helps to wear the bracelets on one wrist for a while and then on the other. This also works for positive inheritances. We can intentionally wear a bracelet on one side or the other to remind ourselves to strengthen or be aware of a positive trait we have inherited or would like to inherit. Therapeutic bracelets can also help strengthen family connections and set boundaries. Wearing gemstone bracelets offers other benefits as well. The natural swinging movement of braceleted arms when walking brings the gemstone energies to one’s legs and lower back, vitalizing the root and sacral chakras as well as the abdomen, including the reproductive organs, intestines and urinary bladder. Moreover, as one’s arms move throughout the day, the gemstone energies are able to actively clear congestion and clouds of sluggish energies that may be present in the aura. Having and Keeping the Life We Want Seeding the Field of Manifestation by Tanya Murphy
I
f we are all endowed with the same potential or creative life force, why is it that some are able to harness that energy? Why are others, no matter how creative they are, unable to make their dreams come true? Or, if they do reach their goal, why do they struggle to sustain it or, even worse, sabotage it? Quantum physicists discovered that molecules, which are made up of atoms, are bundles of energy and consist of nearly empty space. They have revealed that the distance between one atom and the next is quite vast. They theorize that the distance between the nucleus and electrons of the atom are proportionally greater than the distance between our planet and the sun. If we were to remove the space between the particles of the atom and condensed them, they would indeed be minute. So what is the space between the parts of the atom? It has been called many things, such as the void, the quantum field or even spirit. Some say our thoughts become things. The architect who builds the mighty

skyscraper must first imagine the plans, the combinations of metal and stone, and the feeling within the space to be created. The entire building begins first as a mental picture. If we are seeding the quantum field with our mental pictures, then how can we create the life we want? There is a psycho-spiritual technology available to us all but we need to use it. By following these simple steps, we can be on our way to creating the life we have imagined.
Begin with End in Mind Get a clear mental picture and decide the feeling we want on an ongoing basis throughout the process of achieving that goal. “The feeling is the prayer,” said Gregg Braden, renowned author and speaker. Write it down and collage it. Writing it makes it real to the subconscious mind. Our words become the mind’s mental marching orders. Collaging sends messages to the subconscious mind as well and helps it stoke the feeling that the goal is already accomplished.

When we find ourselves missing the mark, see it as simply an education rather than a mistake. Thomas Edison made thousands of prototypes and conducted endless experiments before he ever discovered the light bulb. He learned from every one of his mistakes. Look at how he transformed life as we know it, simply by learning from his mistakes and letting nothing between him and his goals.
Make Failure a Best Friend
When we stumble, know that it is simply an opportunity to grow. Conflict is growth trying to happen. Mental, emotional and physical blocks are doorways to the greatest successes. Find a trusted friend, therapist or coach to help discover the link to the block that comes from a limiting belief from the past. Journaling, inner-child work and Imago relationship therapy are some ways to safely revise and reframe old and blocking thought patterns. Turning on our inner light gives oth ers permission to shine theirs. In order to ensure our desires are for our greater good and that of our loved ones, ask whether what we want will last forever, will it take from another and what purpose does it serve.

EAT WHEAT AGAIN
Eight Ways to Restore Gut Health
T
by John Douillard
he New York University Langone Medical Center recently reported that 74 percent of Americans experience some form of digestive distress, a quarter are obese and more than 100 million U.S. adults are pre-diabetic and don’t know it. While many blame such problems on eating wheat, some food scientists disagree, including those citing two major studies by Harvard researchers; following more than 100,000 people for 25 years, they concluded that those eating the most wheat compared to low-gluten folks had a 13 percent lower diabetes risk and no greater risk of heart disease. While the standard American diet, which includes highly processed wheat, is likely responsible for many of these health concerns, plenty of science links a diet rich in whole grains, including whole wheat, to weight loss, better digestion and lower blood sugar. The Mediterranean Diet, replete with whole grains and wheat, is still revered as one of the healthiest-known diets. Centenarians that live in the famed “blue zones”, recognized for their longevity-enhancing environment and lifestyles, eat a nonprocessed, whole-food diet rich in whole grains and wheat. Many Americans that are gluten-sensitive today digested wheat fine when they were young. At some point, our ability to digest foods that are a bit harder to digest, like wheat and dairy, became compromised. It’s possible to reboot.
Delete Processed Foods
The first step toward reestablishing digestive strength is avoiding all processed foods. A study in the journal Diabetes Care linked a processed food diet to a 141 percent increase in belly fat, high blood sugar and high cholesterol. It further showed that a diet of whole grains, including wheat, reduced the risk of these health concerns by 38 percent. Monitor these ingredients to achieve a healthier diet. n Avoid all added sugars or artificial sweeteners. Allow nothing more than six grams of naturally occurring sugar per serving.
Highly processed vegetable oils are used as preservatives in most packaged foods, including bread. Processing these oils renders them indigestible. Linked to congestion of the liver and gallbladder, they disable liver bile so it can’t break down either good or bad fats, also making it insufficient to buffer stomach acids. Without adequate bile production to neutralize stomach acid, the stomach won’t produce the needed acid to digest proteins like gluten and the casein in dairy. This malady has effected a huge spike in gallbladder surgeries and epidemic levels of obesity, high blood sugar and food intolerances. To boost bile flow, enjoy these foods daily: n Eat one red beet and one apple a day—either raw, cooked, juiced or blended. Add celery and make a bile-flow smoothie. n Consume one teaspoon of both coconut oil and high-quality olive oil per day. n Eat more artichokes, bitter roots and leafy greens. n Drink fennel and fenugreek tea with meals.
Strengthen Stomach Fire
Instead of taking digestive enzymes or a hydrochloric acid-based stomach acid pill, stimulate the stomach to make its own acid and the small intestine and pancreas to produce digestive enzymes. This is best done regularly with the following five spices: n Use ginger, cumin, coriander, cardamom and fennel. Studies published in journals such as Molecular Nutrition & Food Research and the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry suggest that when these five spices are used together —as a supplement, in cooking or to flavor food—they act as a total upper digestive reset. These five-star spices: 4 Stimulate digestion 4 Increase bile flow, pancreatic and small intestine enzyme activity, and fat and sugar metabolism 4 Decrease H. pylori, an opportunistic acid-producing microbe, from adhering to the stomach 4 Decrease gas and bloating 4 Support optimal weight, microbiology health, growth of good gut bacteria and elimination 4 Act as powerful free-radical scavengers Following these simple steps of nutrition will set gluten sufferers on the right path to retraining the body to digest and enjoy wheat again. John Douillard, a Boulder, CO, doctor of chiropractic and creator of the wellness website LifeSpa.com, is the former director of player development and nutrition advisor to the New Jersey Nets NBA team. He is author of the book Eat Wheat: A Scientific and Clinically-Proven Approach to Safely Bringing Wheat and Dairy Back into Your Diet. Learn more at EatWheatBook.com. January 2018
