Humiston Wellness Rolfing®- Structural Method and Feldenkrais® Work When your neck or some other part of your body keeps hurting no matter what treatment has been applied to it, you will usually get lasting relief from Rolfing® or Feldenkrais® work, which systematically organizes the rest of your body so that place finally can relax. Karl Humiston was directly trained by Ida Rolf, PhD. Bonnie Humiston is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® teacher and trainer, who studied directly with Moshe Feldenkrais for 10 years.
Fundamentally these methods work by restoring something that has been lost, by returning your body's structure and movement patterns to the "blueprint of perfection" that was given you in the beginning and the potential for which remains in you. When our work succeeds in restoring this, all kinds of problems get better because they cannot stay bad when your "blueprint" is restored. - Karl Humiston

letter from publisher
T
his letter may be my deepest. Please do not mistake my tone as sadness. It’s something much, much deeper: Truth. One of my co-workers last month checked in with me to make sure I was OK as she sensed a sadness in my last letter. Yes and no. I’ve been in Indonesia for two weeks with my friend Julie. Just a few days into my trip, I was in a scooter accident. I literally had to be carried up and down long steep stone steps to Looking back. Birmin Beach Indonesia and from the hospital. I was blown away by the generosity of the locals who were willing to carry me around. I ended up with an infected foot wound and was told that I couldn’t go in the water. I spent the remainder of my trip as a spectator, submerged in vulnerability. It absolutely pained me not to be able to swim and surf in the glistening warm water that was just steps away from me each day but I made the best of it. I got baptized in the ocean while Julie held my foot up. I was withness to Julies' joy for catching a fun glassy face of a wave; I observed and listened to all that was going on around me. Living vicariously. One night, as thunder and lightning roared and struck, a 5.0 earthquake hit 50 miles off shore. With one foot propped up, I rocked and rolled, as did my thoughts. I’ve lived in SoCal long enough to know what an earthquake feels like. This time around, I was unusually calm about it. Que sera, sera. I worked through my feelings and was able to fall back asleep. Meanwhile, California is on fire, elections are igniting, and I am enlightened. I’m still processing as I write this. I tentatively fly home tomorrow knowing I have to get my magazine to the printer. I hope to bring home a message. The importance of communities and people coming together is NOW. Show up instead of showing off is my new saying. The world is on fire and we must come together to manage the global flames. We all have a fireman in us. And it’s time for us to show up with our best feet forward and our brightest smiles for those in need—especially this holiday season.

r. Carolle Jean-Murat, MD, FACOG, board certified OB-GYN, knows that being diagnosed with cancer can be a devastating event, not only to the person, but also to all who are close to them. “Everyone is now worried, feeling so vulnerable and so much more aware of their own mortality, trying to offer their advice on what is best for their loved ones,” she explains. “When confronted with a cancer diagnosis, how can you make the right choices for yourself?” Having the right guidance from the beginning, Dr. Carolle Jean-Murat says Jean-Murat, is a must. As a physician, medical intuitive, energy and spiritual healer with over four decades of experience, she has counseled hundreds of men and women who have been diagnosed with cancer at any stage, helping them thrive through the diagnosis and treatment. “I believe that we are unique individuals, and that cancer or any disease is the disruption of the balance that exists between the mind, body and soul. Our body is a perfect machine with the extensive capacity to heal itself and regenerate. But in many instances, we are plagued with stressors that can lay dormant at the subconscious level, or in our interpersonal relationships, work or career, lifestyles and behaviors resulting in emotional issues to chronic diseases and cancer.” Jean-Murat uses a special three-step process for people newly diagnosed with cancer or whose cancer has returned and is now metastasized to other parts of the body. “I want those who agree to work with me to have a true life-altering experience. This personalized approach has been very successful and many of the patients who were given a few months to live are now healthy and thriving.” Personalized supporting tools include strengthening the spirit, finding a reason to live, creating healthy boundaries, managing stress, releasing toxic emotions, healing the past, and incorporating cannabis, a nutritional and exercise plan, and positive affirmations, to name a few. “All this gives the mind, body and soul a chance to rest, get stronger, and therefore heal on all levels,” adds Jean-Murat. For more information, call 619-741-7261 or visit DrCarolle.com. All sessions can be done via a telephone or in-person consult, as well as one-on-one overnight retreats in Dr. Carolle’s healing sanctuary garden in the Mount Helix/La Mesa are of San Diego County. or the first time in almost a decade, don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements, will offer a weekend workshop that will focus on each of the four agreements. This inspiring and powerful event is being held March 9 and 10 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, in San Diego. This workshop is a rare and unique opportunity to learn directly from the Ruiz Family: don Miguel Sr. and his sons don Jose Ruiz and don Miguel Ruiz Jr. Based on the teachings from the book, The Four Agreements, the Ruiz family will help attendees understand that the agreements we make are ultimately about seeing our whole reality through the eyes of truth. “You’ll learn how you can incorporate these simple yet comprehensive concepts into your everyday life,” says don Miguel Ruiz Jr., who along with his father and brother, will draw upon the Toltec wisdom to teach participants how to empower themselves and step into masterful levels of faith and authenticity. “These teachings will help you to move beyond doubt and let go of the lies that create emotional drama, victimization, and the limiting belief systems that programmed our ‘domestication’ to return to your innate wisdom, and live your life based on truth,’ adds Ruiz Jr. Cost: $549 early pricing until December 30; $649 standard pricing. Expecting Moms Need to Relax at Holidays South Korean women in their first trimester of pregnancy during the country’s stressproducing new year’s holiday had babies that were a third of an ounce lighter on average, discovered an Australian study of nearly 8.6 million mothers covering 17 years. The extent of the birth weight reduction was similar to reduced birth weights found among babies from mothers in Columbia, after they had experienced area landmine explosions during their first trimester.
Blue Light Raises Cancer Risk Blue light—a range of the visible light spectrum emitted by most white LEDs and most tablet and phone screens—could be hazardous to our health, a new study shows. Researchers from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health analyzed the blue light exposure and medical histories of 4,000 people throughout Spain, also utilizing nighttime images taken by astronauts in the International Space Station to assess exposure of residents of Barcelona and Madrid. They found that those exposed to more blue light at night had between 1.5 to two times the risk of prostate and breast cancer. “Given the ubiquity of artificial light at night, determining whether it increases or not the risk of cancer is a public health issue,” says lead author Ariadna García.

Antarctic Greenhouse Yields First Crop
Scientists at Germany’s Neumayer Station III, in Antarctica, have harvested their first crop of vegetables grown without soil, daylight or pesticides as part of a project designed to help astronauts cultivate fresh food on other planets. They picked about eight pounds of salad greens, 18 cucumbers and 70 radishes grown inside a high-tech greenhouse as outside temperatures dropped to minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit. NASA has successfully grown greens on the International Space Station, but the Antarctic project aims to produce a wider range of vegetables that might one day be grown on the moon or on Mars.
Y
ou don’t have to be a sailor or a surfer to enjoy reading the book Swell: Sailing the Pacific in Search of Surf and Self by Liz Clark. My good friend loaned me this book for my Indonesia trip as he knew I use my airplane time to immerse myself in novels. And, boy am I glad he did. It’s probably the best book I’ve ever read. I resonated with every page in such depth I didn’t want to put it down, yet I also didn’t want my reading journey to end. So that I could savor my armchair travels a little while longer, I planned to finish reading Swell on my long journey home. However, my enthusiasm for the book was so great, I chatted it up a lot and ended up passing it off to another passion/adventure seeker/entrepreneur before I left Indonesia. Clark’s memoir follows her 22-year-old self as she makes the decision to sail off on a solo journey on a 40-foot sailboat. Actually, she’s not completely alone—she is joined by her beloved cat, who eventually forgoes her dislike for the water. Proof enough that anyone can enjoy this voyage, whether you’re a water baby or not. Every ounce of Clark’s perseverance is on each page. There are so many messages below and above the horizon. I used to sail offshore to the Caribbean on a 32-foot sailboat, oftentimes without an engine and auto pilot. My captain used celestial navigation. We did not have a loran system. I always wondered what would happen if I had to sail solo. Well, this book answered that question and raised so many more. It’s a must read for every human being. It will inspire the free spirit we all have inside us. It reminds us to follow our journey and not to “people please” our well-intentioned family and friends urging us to take another course. Follow your gut. The book further reminds us all to protect and fight for our ever so precious environmental eco treasures and animals, both on land and water. May we all have the fortitude to reconstruct and rethink our personal journeys as needed. As synergy would have it, I was staying with a 7-year-old free-spirited boy and his mom. His inquisitive intelligent and endless energy encouraged me to create what we could out of the bamboo in his backyard. He sat on my lap as I shared photos from the book and then we too set sail in his pool. His mom takes him to school each day on a scooter to a private school in Indonesia. This kid is an amazing young boy because he has traveled early on. I hope we keep the free spirit alive in our schools. It’s the essence of life. Get the Kindle or hardback version of Swell: Sailing the Pacific in Search of Surf and Self on Amazon.com.

asey Congleton, owner of Inspired By Kasey, became a New U-Life Independent Consultant/ Distributor because she firmly believes in the company’s feature product Somaderm Gel, a revolutionary homeopathic transdermal HGH (human growth hormone) gel. “I’m enthusiastic about the results I’m seeing so far,” she says. “The product is the star and I’m just thankful to be along for this ride. My team and I are building fast, but that is only the side benefit. Offering people something natural to the body, which is proven and shown to be so beneficial to your health and well-being, is the best part. I believe this hormone, HGH, is so needed. I’ve personally benefitted greatly from the product. In addition to several other health improvements, on day three, my chronic 20-year sinus condition that I had been suffering with completely cleared up! It’s even better today, four months in and what a relief to breathe well. No more sinus meds for me.” According to Congleton, HGH is a single chain peptide hormone produced by the pituitary gland. “It’s known as your ‘master hormone’. HGH levels begin to

drop in your body starting at around age 25, hence the imbalance of hormones among other things, then the aging process begins, and slowly declines the rest of your life,” she says. “The positive benefits of having HGH added back into the body are documented and well-known, but it has only been available through injection until now. Those mega doses are also known to carry side effects along with a high price tag.” The homeopathic form of HGH available in this transdermal gel has a 14-year history of being effective in helping the body regain it’s vigor and vitality along with being totally safe. Zero adverse side effects have been reported with this product. “All you need to do is rub it into your skin two to three times a day,” says Congleton. Somaderm Gel is FDA-registered and has a National Drug Code number, which means it’s approved for over-the-counter use. “No prescription is required. To date, thousands of people have gushed over their results by using this one incredible product,” attests Congleton, who shares that benefits may include improved stamina, increased strength and energy,
heightened libido, greater flexibility, enhanced focus, better skin elasticity, better sleep, and faster wound healing. “The list goes on and on. Healthier hair and nails, reduced PMS symptoms, and just a better functioning immune system,” says this health enthusiast, who notes that the expected benefits listed above have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Congleton welcomes all inquiries about this innovative product. “I look forward to sharing my knowledge and hope to help create a healthier, more robust San Diego,” she adds. “This one incredible product, with its over 40 potential benefits, is something I hope everyone gets the chance to experience.” Kasey Congleton is the founder of a large, North County San Diego based New U-Life leadership team that hosts weekly meetups and more. A GLOBAL WAKE-UP CALL Collective Consciousness Nears Spiritual Tipping Point by Linda Sechrist

all it enlightenment, awakening, transcendence, self-realization or any of the myriad terms used to describe the ultimate higher state of consciousness. People have been seeking it for millennia, but beyond peak experiences of heightened awareness, only a few spiritual figures, Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha among them, are known to have lived in this exalted state. Yet, an unprecedented awakening has been underway since the 19th century.

change in more ways than music when their search for answers to life’s big questions led them to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s spiritual center in Rishikesh, India. Their interest in Transcendental Meditation (TM) sparked a surge of interest in enlightenment and meditation, providing the West with a popular means of cultivating higher states of awareness. A movement to bring about global awakening has been growing ever since. Fresh impetus, in the form of quantum physics, the science of yoga and spiritual practices rooted in ancient cultures, disseminated by books, teachings by spiritual luminaries and websites such as Conscious.TV, has exposed millions to the concept of consciously participating in the
In 2000, Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, provided a ray of hope for the estimated 50 million individuals involved in the world enlightenment movement by introducing the concept of critical mass. This occurs when an unshakable belief is held by 10 percent of the population. Scientists that tested the phenomenon at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in upstate New York, discovered, “Once that number grows above 10 percent, the idea spreads like flame.” Mahesh predicted that only 1 percent of humanity is needed to create enough good vibrations to usher in world peace. While the figures required to reach this critical mass can be debated, it’s certain that the old ways no longer work, and we are quickly running out of time to adopt viable solutions to mounting global crises. Despite this sense of urgency, we have no clear idea of where we are on the scale of transformation. Yet leading voices point to promising signs of progress in a developing collective awareness that acknowledges life’s interconnectedness and embodies life-affirming beliefs and values.
Global Consciousness Accountants
Deepak Chopra, a physician, pioneering author and co-founder of Jiyo.com living in California and New York, believes that we may be in a phase of the necessary transformational shift, experiencing disruption along with the emergence of a new paradigm. “The ultimate goal with our Jiyo.com community, a collective wellbeing project, is to build a critical mass of people that will create a more peaceful, just and harmonious inner and outer world,” says Chopra. It begins with personal transformation through yoga, meditation, pranayama breathing exercises, nutrition, sleep, personal growth and relationships that enhance awareness. “Evolution should be gradual and comfortable,” he says.

Attaining Critical Mass
Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center, in Beverly Hills, believes humanity is in the midst of an emerging renaissance of kindness, love and compassion, with millions embracing the planet as a living being. “This isn’t making news because mainstream journalists are still reporting from an old worldview,” he says. Beckwith, a renowned minister and teacher for 40 years, leads a 9,000-strong trans-denominational spiritual community. He remarks, “Those of us focused on adding our energy to the global enlightenment movement see aspects of it emerging in changes such as health care rather than sick care, businesses adopting multiple bottom lines of people, planet and purpose—rather than only profit—and the shift from a me to we consciousness.” Dianne Collins, author of Do You QuantumThink?: New Thinking that Will Rock Your World, in Miami, suggests it’s time to wake up to the fact that we are living in a quantum age and still using
thought and language shaped by the Industrial Age. She discovered a burgeoning underground culture that she calls the “consciousness crowd” while researching her book tour audience. “These individuals are using new thinking and recognizing the worldview of interconnectedness based on modern science. The media doesn’t recognize that thinkers such as these represent the new mainstream, and no one realizes the tipping point is already here,” she says. Cate Montana, author of The E-Word: Ego, Enlightenment and Other Essentials, in Hawaii, likewise is convinced the movement has reached critical mass and is hopeful the perceived tipping point is closer than we think. “Every moment we’re awake, we’re being conditioned to believe in our limited physical nature and separation from everyone and everything around us. This is why we must re-educate ourselves regarding our full nature,” she says. News headlines of global conflicts and ecological decimation make it appear
that we are regressing, Montana says, but we are not going backwards. “The nature of life is growth, expansion and evolution. As one example, some among the medical community now accept the validity of energy practices such as acupuncture, tai chi, qigong and reiki. None of these words were even being bandied about in the U.S. 50 years ago.”
Coming Together
Today, an estimated 5 million people practice TM, which has been incorporated into some schools, universities, corporations and prison programs in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and India. “Those learning this meditation practice number as many as 30,000 to 40,000 a year, which significantly contributes a positive effect to the collective consciousness,” says John Hagelin, a leader of the TM movement in the U.S. Hagelin, president and professor of physics at the Maharishi University of Management, in Fairfield, Iowa, has been leading a scientific investigation into the

foundations of human consciousness for 25 years. He’s one of the world’s preeminent researchers on the effects of meditation on brain development. “I think that we are much closer to a global spiritual tipping point than ever before,” he says. Ron Dalrymple, Ph.D., a quantum field psychologist practicing in Fort Myers, Florida, believes the threshold is close and that his quantum unified field theory explained in his film, The Endless Question, can win over skeptics. “I use mathematics, science and storytellers that have studied consciousness to explain in lay language my theory, which proposes that the mind is an energy field that extends beyond the brain, and its nucleus is the superconscious. Viewers are led to the undeniable reality of what we all are and to the need for creating a culture of enlightenment where we encourage and inspire one another to greatness,” says Dalrymple, author of Quantum Field Psychology: The Thoton Particle Theory. Truth is what we are. It is our essential nature and Being. It is the pure Self, the limitless One, the ultimate reality—it is awareness itself. But we have become unaware of the magnificence of our true nature on account of our upbringing, conditioning and education, which paint a very different picture of who we are—and all of which we believe. ~Mooji (SAND), agree that individual awakening and the collective movement toward the understanding of our fundamental oneness is crucial to social transformation. Their nonprofit organization is designed to foster a new relationship with spirituality that is both based on timeless wisdom traditions and informed by cutting-edge science. For 10 years, biannual SAND conferences have energized the global enlightenment movement (ScienceAndNonduality. com). Early audiences of 300 individuals now number from 800 to 1,000, and often include business people and trainers developing programs for workplaces. “Understanding the new science that points to consciousness as all-pervasive and the fundamental building block of
reality can change what it means to be human, as well as possibly make violence and economic, social and political crises things of the past,” says Zaya. Thus, the spread of awareness and the harmonic convergence of science, psychology and spiritual thought seem to be bringing humanity closer to the enlightenment that has been elusive for millennia. “Tremendous progress is being made, and I am confident that within a year or two, we’ll see a victory for the enlightened evolutionary forces already present on the planet,” says Hagelin.
