Coir is full of natural character. It is made from the strong fibres of the coconut husk found in Kerala, India. The natural fibres are removed by hand and softened in sea water, so that they can be woven into a selection of designs. Coir is both durable and good value. It is available in a spectrum of golden shades from natural to bleached.

Jute gives a tweedy look and is soft underfoot. It comes from the stalk of the giant corchorus plants, grown in southern India. The natural fibres are fine, making Jute more suitable to relaxing rooms rather than heavily used areas. It is naturally light brown in colour and comes in a tight bouclĂŠ and herringbone designs.

Stain inhibitor
Caring for your natural flooring
Alternative Flooring offers an environmentally friendly solution called INTEC. This solution, which has been specifically developed for natural floorcoverings, is applied before your flooring is delivered and will not alter the flooring’s colour, texture or flame retardancy. INTEC will reduce the impact of liquid spills and prolong the life of your flooring.
Fitting You are advised to use a professionally trained fitter to lay natural flooring in both domestic and contract locations and use a recommended underlay. Prior to fitting, natural flooring should be allowed to acclimatise for at least 48 hours. More detailed fitting instructions are available on request. Some types of natural flooring are better suited to certain locations than others. Please refer to the recommendations in this brochure or the label on the reverse of our sample swatches.
Quirky Collection
1. We recommend that you protect your flooring with INTEC, the stain inhibitor. 2. Use entrance doormats to control the amount of dirt tracked in and vacuum regularly using a suction only appliance. 3. Blot and then clean spots and spills using the Natural Flooring Care Kit supplied by Alternative Flooring. 4. Avoid liquids such as water or carpet cleaner. 5. Added protection of a castor chair mat is suggested if using chairs fitted with castors. Frequent movement of castors can damage the fibres of the flooring.
Environmental policy All our products derive from sustainable natural resources. Alternative Flooring wants its products to have the minimum impact on the environment and we actively endorse GUT processes. Carpets tested for a better living environment www.gut-ev.org
Quirky is made in Britain on traditional wilton looms and sold by the linear metre. Carpet width: 69cm as standard. Custom made rugs are available, with a selected range of bindings.
