#NAUSTRONG MEDIA POLICIES The Athletics Communications office is located in the press box on the west side of the Walkup Skydome. The phone number is (928) 523-6792 or 6330 and the fax number is 523-6793. MEDIA OPPORTUNITY Director of Tennis Ki Kroll is available every day before or after practice. Individual players may be requested at this time also. Special requests for availability may be made to the athletics communications office. INTERVIEW POLICY All player interviews must be coordinated through the Athletics Communications office at least one day in advance. No interviews or photo shoots will be conducted on days prior to matches. Out-oftown media should contact the Athletics Communications office to make arrangements for phone interviews. Players are also available for interviews after practice, and, if prior arrangements have been made, before practice. The NAU locker room and training room are closed. KROLL INTERVIEWS Ki Kroll and his staff are generally available for interviews before or after each practice. A member of the Athletic Communications office will collect requests immediately following the conclusion of the match.

MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME Arizona does not move its clock ahead in the spring or back in the fall. As a result, Flagstaff time coincides with the Pacific time zone through Nov. 6. The

AQUATIC AND TENNIS COMPLEX

After nearly two years of construction, Northern Arizona University’s brand new Aquatic and Tennis Complex (ATC) held its grand opening on Feb. 19, 2016. The state-of-the art facility, located across the street from NAU’s Health and Learning Center, will be the new home of NAU swimming & diving and men’s and women’s tennis. Groundbreaking for the ATC was held on May 1, 2014 after the Arizona Board of Regents unanimously approved the proposal on Feb. 7, 2014. The Aquatic and Tennis Complex replaced the Wall Aquatic Center – the home of the Lumberjack swimming & diving program for the last 34 years since the pool’s opening in 1983. The 120,000 square foot ATC is more than double the size of the 50,000 square foot Wall Aquatic Center. For the NAU swimming & diving team, the ATC includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool as well as a separate diving well. In addition to 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, there is the addition of a 10-meter diving platform that the Wall Aquatic Center previously had not supported. Other features include dryland training areas and a spa. Both the NAU men’s and women’s tennis teams will enjoy the luxury of their own on-campus courts since 2007 when there were previously six outdoor courts to use. The ATC will provide the two programs with an indoor home for daily practice and home matches featuring six indoor courts. Previously at the mercy of Flagstaff’s unpredictable weather, NAU tennis had hosted home matches at Continental Country Club and the Flagstaff Athletic Club as well as in Sedona in recent years while resorting to the two-court Fieldhouse for an on-campus practice facility. The second phase of the ATC will provide both tennis teams with six outdoor courts adjacent to the facility. Spectator viewing decks are available for both the pool and tennis courts. Shortly after the grand opening, the Aquatic and Tennis Complex hosted the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships from March 7-9, 2016. Nearly 100 divers – both men’s and women’s – representing 25 universities spanning the Pac-12, Mountain West, WAC and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conferences competed at the qualifying meet for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The first tennis match held in the ATC was on Feb. 21, 2016 when the NAU men’s tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Western New Mexico. The NAU women’s tennis team made their debut in the facility on March 5, 2016 and splitting a doubleheader with a 5-2 win over conference rival Montana State and a narrow 4-3 loss to Emory University, the reigning Division III national runner-ups.

For the first time in school history the Northern Arizona University women’s tennis team finished the Big Sky regular season ranked first, and is now ready to start a new chapter under head coach Ki Kroll. Kroll will serve as the Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis at NAU after coaching the men’s program for three years. Following what was arguably the best season in program history under former head coach Kim Bruno, the Lumberjacks were picked to finish second in the Big Sky Conference behind Sacramento State. Kroll is confident the Lumberjacks will build off of last season and carry that success into the 2017 campaign.

Hanneke Lodewijks for a doubles win in their first match at the UNLV Invitational. Lewandowska came up with two singles wins and finished 2-1 in doubles with freshman Brandy Walker. Walker picked up a third-place finish in singles for the first time as a Lumberjack in that tournament. At Arizona, the Lumberjacks posted a 9-7 singles record and a notable 7-1 doubles record, including two singles wins for Lewandowska, Tomasetti and sophomore Eirene Granville. The Lumberjacks finished strong with Tomasetti qualifying for the Round 16 in singles at the ITA Mountain Regionals. New Year

“I am excited,” explained Kroll. “We have a really good team, a lot of talent and strong upperclassmen who will bring a lot of experience to the team.”

This season the Lumberjacks return five starters, Lodwijks, Szavay, Rochin, Lewandowska and Granville, who all bring back valuable experience and leadership. Lodewijks and Szavay earned All-Big Sky First Team honors while Lewandowska received honorable mention for the second consecutive year. The Lumberjacks add two to the roster this season in Tomasetti and Walker who both proved themselves ready to compete for starting positions. Tomasetti was born and raised in Germany and Walker is from Brea, Calif. The Lumberjacks will be led by Kroll and assistant coach Orsi Golovics, who will be in their first seasons with the NAU Women’s Tennis Team.

Finding Rhythm Northern Arizona competed in five fall tournaments at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Arizona, ITA Mountain Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M., Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. All seven Lumberjacks played this fall, with standout seniors Marta Lewandowska and Hailey Rochin and freshman Chiara Tomasetti who had incredible preseasons. “We had a good chance to really work with them in the preseason,” Kroll said. “They adjusted to our coaching styles, and worked hard in all their workouts. I think we are all on the same page and ready to fight for a Big Sky Championship.” Great Expectations The Lumberjacks will be tested from the start with non-conference opponents Arizona State, UC Davis, Arizona and Grand Canyon before competing in their first conference matchup against the 2016 coregular season champions Sacramento State. Kroll is confident in the players’ ability to get the points where they need them, especially in doubles. “We had a few ups and downs, but we recovered from all those things,” Kroll said. “I feel really strong. We have to have good doubles this year to do well and we are moving in the right direction.”

The Sky’s The Limit For the first time in a decade, NAU finished first in conference play in the 2016 campaign. Their 10-1 Big Sky record proved to bring the Lumberjacks back to the top after an uncharacteristic fourth-place finish the year prior. Despite falling short of the conference title, NAU will be playing with conviction. “They are going to learn a lot this year,” Kroll said. “They have confidence and with that, they will soon realize they can do things better and better.” For Kroll, the players’ mentality and relationship with one another is what sets this team apart. “One of the first things I noticed in the fall was how well everyone bonded,” Kroll said. “All the players get along, they cheer for each other and they push each other, which is very important for our team dynamic.”

The Lumberjacks went 36-27 overall in doubles last season with the Lodewijks/Szavay combination accounting for 14 of those wins. Of all their season opponents, the Lumberjacks will face one of their toughest opponents in nationally ranked Arizona State and their No. 36 ranked doubles pair Savannah Slaysman and Kelley Anderson. NAU will also face the No. 18 ranked singles player from University of Arizona Lauren Marker. “The most important thing for the women is to be a lot more aggressive, I want them to take charge,” Kroll said. Much like the men’s team, Kroll has great expectations for this experienced squad.

Kroll

Ki Kroll will serve as the Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis for the 2016-17 campaign. Kroll served as the head coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2011-13, where he produced an impressive three-year stint, helping a program recover from NCAA violations reach a national ranking, a 15-win season and one of the best recruiting classes among mid-major schools landing the top players from the UK and Portugal. His success has undoubtedly carried over into his short time with the Lumberjacks as he led the men’s team to a 13-9 record in his first season, the most wins since 2010. Kroll has accumulated 37 victories overall, 22 wins in the Big Sky, two appearances in the Big Sky Championship and 12 All-Big Sky selections during his tenure at Northern Arizona. The expectations remain high in the classroom as well, with Kroll garnering six Big Sky All-Academic selections, 15 Golden Eagle Scholar Athletes and one ITA All-Academic Team selection since the start of his tenure. Most recently in the 2016 spring campaign, Kroll’s squad finished with yet another winning record of 13-12 overall including an 8-3 clip in the Big Sky. Freshman Tim Handel earned All-Big Sky First Team nods while his fellow classmate, Lucas Taylor, landed on the honorable mention team. This same season, Handel was also a Big Sky All-Academic selection alongside Felix Schumann. Adi Zilberstein also reeled in another academic honor for the ‘Jacks as he was named to the 2016 ITA All-Academic team. Before Kroll’s hire, Northern Arizona only managed to win six matches and NAU looked for a new voice to lead the tennis program in a different direction. The team made a complete turnaround under Kroll’s direction. In 2015, Lumberjack tennis reached the Big Sky Championship after pulling off two upsets, beating no. 1 Weber State and no. 3 Montana to get there. Not to mention the victory over the no. 67 ranked program in the country, Nevada-Reno, which was NAU tennis’ first win over a ranked opponent since 2002 and only the second time in program history. In 2014, Kroll and his squad were a force to be reckoned with in the Big Sky. They finished third in the conference despite their eighth place preseason poll predictions. The Lumberjacks rattled off streaks of four and six wins with some memorable victories over Montana State, Grand Canyon and the 2013 Big Sky Champions Sacramento State. After NAU’s exceptional play, Kroll had four players named All-Big Sky Honorable Mention in Jordan Gobatie, Kester Black, Alex Locci and Fabio Tomasetti. Prior to Southern Mississippi, Kroll served in dual roles as the Head Men’s Tennis Coach and the Assistant Athletic Director/Business Manager at Vassar College, where he led the Brewers to three consecutive NCAA Division III Tournaments from 2005-10. He was a three-time Liberty League Coach of the Year during his five seasons. Over the span of his coaching career, Kroll coached four All-Americans, the 2010 and 2011 ITA Northeast Singles champion, the 2008 ITA Northeast Doubles champions, 18 All-Academic selections and one Capital One Academic All-American. Coach Kroll received national acclaim for his involvement as the Director of Tennis at the Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club in Las Vegas, Nev. Most notably, he is credited with developing a strong inner city tennis program for Andre Agassi into one of the most successful programs of its type in the country. A number of his former students have been ranked in the top-five nationally in the junior tennis, earning opportunities to represent the United States in international play. Several players went on to play Division I tennis as well as professionally. When asked about his appointment as head coach, Kroll said, “I’m very happy to now be representing NAU, and am very thankful to our Vice-President/ Athletic Director, Lisa Campos who has placed her confidence in me. This is a wonderful opportunity, one that I take very seriously. I am here to move the NAU men’s tennis program into a new direction, helping to not only motivate our players, but also improve their understanding of how to best play their game. Tennis has always been my passion, and I’m looking forward to taking this team to the next level.” Kroll played collegiately at Penn State and received his bachelor’s degree in History from Eastern New Mexico University.

1st Season Northern Arizona

Orsolya Golovics will serve as the assistant coach for women’s tennis. Born and raised in Hungary, Golovics has returned to her alma mater after five years. Golovics served as the Northern Arizona University women’s tennis assistant coach before in 2011-2012. She first came to NAU in 2008 to play tennis and compete at the Division I level. In her time at NAU, Golovics was one of the few players in program history to be named All-Big Sky first team three or more times. She garnered quite a reputation at NAU winning 71 singles matches and 71 doubles matches overall. As assistant coach in 2011, Golovics worked alongside former head coach Kim Bruno. Golovics was a double major in marketing and business administration and a three-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete Award recipient. Upon finishing her undergraduate career, Golovics pursued her master’s degree in sports management at Cardinal Stritch University, located in Milwaukee, Wis. This will be the first time Golovics will coach at a collegiate level since completing her graduate degree in 2015.

together, the doubles tandem showed no signs of complacency from that point forward. Not only did Lodewijks and Szavay finish the season at No. 1 doubles with an overall record of 14-4, but were ranked as high as No. 81 in the country in early April after notching yet another upset – this time over No. 22 Arizona State. “We had a lot of great players this season and well-deserved accolades to show for it like Hanneke [Lodewijks] and Blanka [Szavay] being nationally ranked in doubles,” Bruno said. “But the most important thing was how they and the rest of the team came out ready to fight every single match.”

Finishing at 18-8 overall and 10-1 in the Big Sky, the Northern Arizona University women’s tennis team put together one of the best seasons in school history. The 2016 campaign became Head Coach Kim Bruno’s – the 2016 Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year – winningest season since her hire in 2006 while just being two wins shy of tying the program-best 20 wins in 1999. What started out as a promising Fall season transformed into a regular season championship and a handful of impressive individual and team performances. “We made a lot of progress as a team and as individuals this season,” Bruno said. “If you watched us throughout the season, we got better and better with each match. That’s really all you can ask for as a coach. There was never a time when a team was going to roll over us because we fought for every point. And with the talent we had, that’s what made us tough.” In late September, newcomers Hanneke Lodewijks and Blanka Szavay were already turning heads. With an upset over No. 41 Ole Miss in their first showing

Lodewijks, in her rookie campaign, filled the No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles spot for the entirety of the season. She finished 10-10 overall and 8-2 in the Big Sky in singles action. Szavay, also competing for the first time in blue and gold, finished 16-8 on court two while dropping just one Big Sky match in the spring. Her solo performance was good enough for being voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and the second-highest win total on the team behind senior Jordan Denesik. Denesik strung together the best season of her career at 17-7 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the Big Sky. The senior came through with two huge match-clinching performances on court five over the University of Northern Colorado and Sacramento State. Against the Hornets, Denesik’s gritty finish moved the Lumberjacks into first place standing while handing Sac State their first regular season conference loss in two years. The Anthem, Ariz. native was selected to the All-Big Sky Second Team following her notable final season as a Lumberjack. “You can’t replace someone who plays with their heart and soul like Jordan [Denesik] does,” Bruno

Her actions will definitely be carried on by the women who will be on the team next couple years.” Playing one court below Denesik – and proving to be a force at that – was freshman Eirene Granville. The Sacramento, Calif. native finished 13-5 overall and, along with Szavay, had just one loss in conference at 8-1. After not making the lineup in the early stages of the 2016 campaign, Granville blossomed into somewhat of a freshman ‘phenom’ clinching a total of seven matches on court six. In doubles play, Granville alongside junior Hailey Rochin finished 5-3 and 4-1 in the Big Sky. At Southern Utah, with a 2016 regular season title on the line, Rochin stepped up on court four clinching her first match of the season to improve to 7-12 on the year. The Lumberjacks departed Cedar City with the program’s first regular season championship in school history while building even more momentum heading into the Big Sky Conference Tournament the following week. The win over the Thunderbirds may have sealed a No. 1 seed, but NAU also walked away with big wins earlier in the year over previously ranked University of Wyoming and the defending Big Sky champions University of Idaho in its first conference showdown of the season. Wins as these built both momentum and confidence heading into the remainder of a tough non-conference and conference schedule both on the road and in NAU’s brand new home facility the Aquatic and Tennis Center.

NAU has plenty to hang its hat on this season. Along with Denesik making the All-Big Sky Second Team roster, Szavay and Lodewijks both landed on the first team while junior Marta Lewandowska gleaned an honorable mention nod after a steady junior season finishing 12-8 on court three. Bruno’s squad also led the Big Sky in Player of the Week selections with five: Lodewijks twice, Szavay twice and Granville once. The Lumberjacks graduate just one player in Denesik – who will be greatly missed – but return the remaining five starters in Lodewijks, Szavay, Lewandowska, Rochin and Granville. If this season was any indication of the heights that Bruno’s program is headed, the future is certainly bright as she heads into her 12th season at the helm of Northern Arizona University women’s tennis. “There’s no question our returners will come back at a higher level,” Bruno commented. “With them knowing our culture and philosophy’s, I think the new players coming in will have to adapt quickly to that. They will see right away what it takes to win consistently and at a high level. The future is very bright if they can come back and continue what we’ve been doing.”

Although being forced to shake up the starting six due to injury, and ultimately falling short in the 2016 Big Sky Tournament Championship with a rematch over Idaho,

#NAUSTRONG BIG SKY CONFERENCE The Big Sky Conference enters its 54th year and 29th year of women’s competition during the 2016-17 academic year. The venerable and stable Division I Big Sky Conference observed its 50th birthday on July 1, 2013. Four of the current league members – Idaho State University, The University of Montana, Montana State and Weber State – have been with the league since its birth. Fellow charter member the University of Idaho returned most of its sports to the Big Sky on July 1, 2014. Northern Arizona University enters its 47th season in the league, giving the league five members with at least 40 years of continuous membership. The Big Sky Conference welcomed North Dakota and Southern Utah on July 1, 2012 as full members. UC Davis and Cal Poly joined as football affiliate members. Eastern Washington University, the University of Northern Colorado, Portland State University and Sacramento State round out the current membership. The league has become one of the strongest Division I conferences in the West and is a national leader in the Football Championship Subdivision. Six times, Big Sky teams have won the Division I National Championship, including Eastern Washington in 2010. The Big Sky is one of three conferences in the western United States playing Division I football. The Big Sky Conference was established in 1963 by six charter members – Idaho, Idaho State, Gonzaga, Montana, Montana State and Weber State. Those six schools formed the foundation of the Big Sky before the league expanded in 1970 by adding Boise State and Northern Arizona. Gonzaga left the Sky in 1979 and was replaced by Nevada, which gave the league eight members. The conference grew to nine schools in 1987 with the addition of Eastern Washington. The 1990s saw change in the makeup of the league, beginning in 1992 when Nevada departed and put the Big Sky back at eight teams. In 1996 Boise State and Idaho left and at the same time the conference added Portland State, Sacramento State and Cal State Northridge. The Big Sky maintained nine teams for five years before Cal State Northridge departed in the spring of 2001. The Big Sky’s full members represent nine states spanning from the Pacific Ocean to the Red River Valley of North Dakota. The league is represented along the entire west coast with institutions in Washington, Oregon and California. League schools also range up and down the Rocky Mountains with institutions in Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and Colorado. It is “The Heart of the American West.” The University of Idaho, which was a member from 1963-96, will once again compete in the Big Sky in the majority of its sports. Idaho’s football program maintained its FBS affiliation, joining the Sun Belt Conference. On Feb 25, 1963, the name Big Sky was adopted by the six presidents of the charter members as the name of the new conference. The name Big Sky originated in a novel written by the late A.B. (Bud) Guthrie of Great Falls, Mont., in 1947 entitled “The Big Sky.” Jack Hollowell, a former Montana advertising director, promoted the Big Sky theme for the Treasure State. While on a track and field trip from Pocatello, Idaho, to Missoula, Mont., legendary Dubby Holt of Idaho State saw a “Welcome to Big Sky Country” sign as his team entered Montana. Holt, and his athletes thought “Big Sky” would be a perfect name for the new conference. Harry Missildine of the Spokane Spokesman-Review called for the newly formed league to be named the Big Sky Conference in his column dated Feb. 20, 1963. The Big Sky sponsors championships in 16 sports, including men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, basketball and tennis. In addition, there are also championships in football, and women’s volleyball, golf and soccer. The Big Sky sponsored softball for the first time in 2013. Men’s golf returned as a championship sport in 2014-15 for the first time since 2002. The University of Hartford and Binghamton University have joined the Big Sky as affiliate members in golf. In 1988-89, the Big Sky Conference first began sponsoring women’s sports. The former Mountain West Conference existed from 1982-88, sponsoring championships for women’s sports at the same institutions the Big Sky had men’s programs. The Big Sky merged with the Mountain West in 1988, forming one league for both men and women. Andrea Williams, the sixth commissioner of the Big Sky Conference, is in her first year at the helm. Williams took over the Big Sky on July 1, 2016, replacing longtime commissioner Doug Fullerton. Fullerton served the league for 21 years. Ron Stephenson, who assed away in 2011, preceded Fullerton. Serving as commissioner from 1981 through June 1995. Steve Belko was the commissioner from 1977-81, while John Roning held the post from 1971-77. The first league commissioner was Jack Friel, who served from 1963-71.

Northern Arizona University provides an outstanding undergraduate residential education strengthened by important research, graduate and professional programs, and a responsive distance learning network delivering programs throughout Arizona. NAUâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s underlying core strength at the undergraduate level is in its ability to provide knowledge of the world, an ability to appreciate change, diversity, and life itself. Faculty and staff members are committed to the residential campus concept and to the student population; however, they are also prepared to deliver education throughout Arizona and the world either online or in new campus structures. The Mountain Campus has a student population of more than 20,000 at its main campus in Flagstaff and at sites across the state. NAU was established in 1899 as the Northern Arizona Normal School. A close, personal interest in the development of each student as an individual has long been a trademark of the Mountain Campus. This educational experience is enhanced by an atmosphere that celebrates the diversity of opinions and cultures. The undergraduate programs at NAU cover a diverse range of disciplines from liberal arts and the sciences to professional and career-related fields. Rita Hartung Cheng serves as the 16th president of Northern Arizona University. Under her leadership, NAU has embarked on an aggressive mission to thrive in the fast-changing environment of higher education. She has amplified the university’s strengths, demonstrating its excellence in pursuing the discovery, use and advancement of knowledge. She has set forth a vision of excellence in education through student-centered teaching, a robust research environment and inclusive support services focused on success measured through retention and graduation rates. Dr. Cheng oversees an operating budget of more than $550 million and 4,600 faculty and staff. NAU offers more than 200 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs to its 29,000 students. Enrollment growth has increased steadily, and the university’s research profile is recognized on an international level. NAU is designated as a high research university by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. One in five jobs in Coconino County is directly or indirectly linked to the university. An accountant by training, she leads by relying on values, analyzing data and inviting the input of stakeholders. She also emphasizes shared governance, transparency, communication, accountability and inclusiveness. Dr. Cheng arrived at NAU in August 2014 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she served as chancellor for four years and was a professor of accounting. She previously spent 22 years in faculty and administrative roles at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, including five years as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. A certified public accountant and certified government financial manager (inactive), Dr. Cheng is internationally recognized for her research in government and nonprofit accounting. Dr. Cheng is part of the Arizona Board of Regents’ Enterprise Executive Committee, responsible for driving achievement of statewide goals. Dr. Cheng earned a Ph.D. in management from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management, an MBA from the University of Rhode Island and a bachelor’s in business administration with honors from Bishop‘s University in Quebec. Along with her vision for NAU, Dr. Cheng brings her experience and leadership to many boards and organizations including the NCAA Division 1 Board of Governors Finance and Audit Committee, Big Sky President’s Council, Arizona State Board of Education, Higher Learning Commission Board of Trustees, American Association of State Colleges and Universities Board of Directors, Arizona Women in Higher Education Presidential Sponsor, Arizona Commerce Authority, and is an active member of the Phoenix Leadership Council, Northern Arizona Leadership Alliance, Southern Arizona Leadership Council, Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce.

VICE PRESIDENT FOR INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS Dr. Lisa Campos was hired in April 2012 as Northern Arizona’s Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. Since her arrival, Campos has guided the Lumberjacks to Back-to-Back Big Sky Conference Presidents’ Cup trophies; an award that recognizes the department’s overall excellence in competition and in the classroom. In 2013, NAU became the fourth institution to win multiple Presidents’ Cups, winning their second (first was 2005-06); and then followed it up during the 2013-14 school year. NAU has captured 24 team conference championships during Campos’ time in Flagstaff, while nine teams have advanced to postseason competition. The Lumberjacks’ stellar athletic achievements have led to the men’s programs winning the Big Sky All-Sports Trophy three consecutive times from 2014-16. The women’s teams captured the trophy in 2014, and have been runners-up the last two years. During the 2015-16 school year, the men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams won their fifth straight title for each, while the women’s team captured the outdoor crown. Volleyball won the Big Sky Regular Season and Tournament Championship to earn its first NCAA appearance berth since 1999. Swimming & diving captured its third straight Western Athletic Conference Championship defeating its nearest competition by over 300 points. During the 2015-16 school year, NAU finished with a 3.12 overall cumulative grade point average. Seven of 13 teams finished the 2015-16 academic year with a GPA of at least 3.00 led by the swimming and diving team, who recorded a 3.44 gpa. Four student-athletes received CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District honors, while Caleb Hoover picked up his second CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American First Team honoree. NAU had 118 total student-athletes earn All-Academic honors by the Big Sky and WAC. A total of 58 student-athletes earned their degrees during the 2015-16 academic year with a cumulative gpa of 3.20, while 184 Dean’s List honors were bestowed. Campos and the Lumberjacks continue to give back to the community as Lumberjack student-athletes set a new record for community service hours with 5,428; beating last year’s mark of 5,327. Dr. Campos currently sits on the prestigious NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee, a subcom-

mittee of the new governance model. She also sits on the Board of Directors at NACWAA and for the local United Way of Northern Arizona. At the time of her hire at NAU, Campos became one of 26 females and the youngest in the country to lead a Division I program, including 13 head athletic administrators at the Football Championship Subdivision level. Campos took over the leadership of the Lumberjack Athletics Department after serving as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Texas at El Paso from 2006 to 2012. Campos served as the sport administrator for several Miner sports programs and was also the primary administrator for compliance, CHAMPS/Life Skills, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and cheerleading. While at UTEP, Dr. Campos assisted with athletic facility enhancements and co-directed the planning and design of the $2.6 million Helen of Troy Softball Complex, which opened in September 2005. In 2006, Campos was the NCAA liaison for the Self Study Report for NCAA Certification and continued to oversee all gender, minority equity, and student welfare strategic plans. In 2005, she created the Athletics Diversity Graduate Assistantship Program and served on the UTEP Women’s Resource Advisory Board. Campos also served as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator and the Assistant Dean of Students within the UTEP Division of Student Affairs during her time in El Paso. While at UTEP, Dr. Campos had the opportunity to serve on a number of NCAA Committees, including the NCAA Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet, the NCAA Rifle Committee, and chaired the NCAA Women’s Soccer Committee. Dr. Campos holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at El Paso. She graduated from Colorado State University where she earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration and a master’s of science degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Campos is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA), National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) and Flagstaff Leadership Program. A native of Las Animas, Colo., Campos is married to Darren D’Attilio. They live in Flagstaff with their son, Christopher.
