The geographical location of Navarre, to the North of the Iberian Peninsula, with the Bay of Biscay to the Northwest, at the western end of the Pyrenees and North of the Ebro Valley, makes it a meeting point of Alpine, Atlantic and Mediterranean climatic influences. This has prompted a succession of landscapes with great contrasts within quite a small territory (just 10,000 km2) resulting in one of the highest levels of biodiversity in Europe.
