Two kayakers required assistance from the Navarre BeachVolunteer Fire Department on April 22 when they ended up too far from the Navarre Beach shore.

That rescue then led to the rescue of firefighter Allen Acree when his Sea Doo stalled and would not restart. According to Fire Chief Mike Howard, the call came into the fire station at 2:30 p.m. from View

The second kayaker refused assistance, but the firefighters kept watch and when it appeared as if he wasn’t going to make it, Acree went out to assist him, said Howard.
