Brief User The main targeted users for this project are the common middle class service going population and the young college students of the Mumbai. The apartments in the scheme will be of 40 square meter which will provide good amount of space for a small family to reside with comfort in Mumbai at very low cost or rent, and it will attract the college going population also as the provision for rent is there. The Space The area I chose is Mumbai chawls and I’m trying to re-create the interior of this one room apartment into a contemporary, minimalist and affordable space in the Mumbai city inspired from university apartments in foreign countries.
Space Imagination According to my research and study what I got to know is that the area of 40 square meters is a good amount of space for at least 3 users. So, the space is to be divided into different zones according to the daily activity of the user. The division will be very suggestive and significant but won’t be blocking the openness of the space. So the visual area will look more spacious and open. Modular systems are the most integral part of my project as my main aim is to use the space in a very minimalistic and functional way. The ornamentation of the interiors will totally depend on the color scheme used.
