Naomi Suzuki is an Indonesian graphic designer based in Jakarta. Naomi is currently still sitting in her 6th semester at BINUS International University, majoring in Graphic Design. Naomi has big interest with unique packaging and branding. As being a half Japanese and half Indonesian woman, these cultures rooting very deeply into her personality. She has big enthusiasm in Japanese art and design world, which is where all of her inspirations came from. She has a habit in being curious and never easily satisfied with her works. Thus, that develops her to become a perfectionist.

Naomi really adore passionate people, those whom do their job with love. Because she believes, when you include passion as one of your design components it would make your work look more outstanding. Good design is able to communicate precise message through design elements. Design is not only about pretty shape, pretty look, and pretty colors. Design is part of art and creativity of accomplishing a specific task through human visual comprehension. Design connects people. Without a good design, messages could not deliver well to the audience, which might lead to misinterpretation.

After knowing the meaning of design, designer have big responsibility isn’t it? We talk to you through creativity, while you talk to us through words. We convey your information through elements, while you send your information through letters. In this book, you will find how I tried to communicate each projects through different components, ideas, and methods. I do my work with love and passion, similar as any other designers. However, we all have different ways of thinking, taste, experiences, and inspirations; so am I. That what makes me different from you and other passionate designers in this world.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to create a typeface which represent one selected country, conduct a research of the selected country, create a mood board, poster and one application. Students were given freely to choose which country that they wanted to present on the typeface. CONCEPT The country that was chosen for this project is Japan. Nami typeface is inspired by one of most well known Japanese pattern. Nami means ‘wave’ in Japanese, this typeface represent elements from authentic Nami pattern. The packaging concept is more focus on showing the meaning behind Nami. VISUALS Using a serif based font, the typeface has a very Japanese distinctive style with a touch of elegance. The packaging uses a simple illustration with watercolors effect which created in Adobe Photoshop CS6. In order to successfully deliver the story behind the typeface, the color schemes of the packaging is inspired from natural beach colors.

OBJECTIVE Gather a research about the product as a group. Re-branding Susu Murni Nasional individually. Create a mood board, re-brand the logo and packaging. CONCEPT Susu Murni Nasional is one of well-known milk business in Jakarta. Having 4 variants which are: Melon, Orange, Original and Strawberry this product is originally created for B - C customers. The new design is created for medium to high customer, family packaging, which present in type of materials used in the packaging and the design. However, the design is focusing on families who have children around 4-10 years old. Simple illustration is included to show the fun and playful side of the product. VISUALS Since the product is re-brand and focused on families, the visuals are design that could be accepted from different age ranges. This is shown through the chosen typefaces on the design, color schemes and the overall design.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to create a branding of vegetables chips with 5 different variants, which are: carrot chips dipped with mayonnaise, mixed chips sprinkled with sea salt, broccoli chips baked with cheddar cheese, spinach chips baked with mozzarella, beet chips dipped with honey. The branding included: logo, packaging design, and advertisements medium. CONCEPT The first concept of this project was actually designed for children. However, in the middle of the project the lecture has set the same target audience for the whole class. Those who had the wrong target market have to shift the design slightly from the first one. Thus, in order to created slight differences, the illustrations are still appeared but in a simpler way. The concept is fun and cheerful, these keywords can be seen on how different kinds of font are used and the placement of the fonts, also from the chosen colors. The concept for the advertisements is ‘moment’, how you can enjoy more beautiful moments if you choose what you consume brightly! Brilliantly! VISUALS The visual for the packaging is fun, cheerful and playful. The playful could be seen from the chosen typefaces, colors, illustrations, and the placement of the words and objects. visual for the advertise-

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to create a branding of BINUS fashion students. The project included: logo design and branding identity medium. CONCEPT Modny is an outerwear (cardigan, cape and capuchon) business of Tazia Maharani and Fristine Ameylia. The concept of Modny is minimalist yet fashionable. The owner got their inspirations from Nature, from the colours; texture; pattern. VISUALS Since the concept is combining the minimalist with a nature sense, Modny logo is designed as minimalist as it could. The nature feelings could be feel in the colored logo, how ‘sky blue’ color is chosen and also in the shopping bag & tag medium. These two objects are created from recycled papers to represent the ‘natural’ image.

OBJECTIVE Gather information about Wolfgang Weingart: bibliography, projects, individual works, style, and many more. Create a book about the chosen designer. Design the layout representing the artist’s characteristics. CONCEPT Wolfgang Weingart is one of inspirational designers during Bauhaus era. The concept of this project is inspired from weingart’s works, which are the combination of Bauhaus, Swiss Design and Post Modernism. VISUALS Black, white and yellow are the main colors of this project. These are the most used colors that presents in Weingart’s works. The layouting are very abstract, which inspired by Wolfgang poster layouts. Besides that, figures such as circle; square and rectangle shown frequently in Weingarts’ work. Therefore, to make the book visually presenting weingart those three objects are also shown frequently on the book.

OBJECTIVE A group project which consists of 2 members. Create an info graphic poster of Bauhaus art movement. Conduct a research about Bauhaus and choose one most influential graphic designer during Bauhaus era. CONCEPT Joost was a teacher and master at the Bauhaus and also a professor at the College of Visual Arts in Berlin. He was a visionary typographer and graphic designer, he was one of the most influential designers during the Bauhaus era. Thus, the concept is representing Joost Bauhaus style onto the poster included information of Joost’s bibliography, characteristics, influences, and famous quote. VISUALS In order to deliver a successful visual image of Bauhaus, the design of the poster is mainly composed of geometric shapes which is a typical of Bauhaus movement design. Besides that, the selection of typeface is also important. The letters during Bauhaus movement were usually had circle, square and rectangle structures. The colors that are shown frequently during Bauhaus era were red, blue, and orange with a combination of pale yellow. Thus, these colors are chosen to create more of the Bauhaus sense onto the poster.

OBJECTIVE Create your own illustration style.

CONCEPT The concept between the woman and tea illustrations are different. The woman illustration are seen more abstract where the tea illustrations are visually look more realistic. The abstract-ness can be seen from how the brush strokes applied on the background and the figure. Where the tea illustrations look more detail and smooth strokes.

VISUALS Abstract: The aim of this project is to create an illustration of a woman with an image that could represent the strong side of a woman. The color schemes are showing more vibrant colors, such as red; blue;pink. The red color on the background represents the story behind the illustration, which is ‘strong woman’. Realistic: Whenever we think about tea its calm and soothe your feelings. Thus, the colors that are chosen for this project are calm colors, such as: gray, brown, sky blue, and many more.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to create a brand identity of BIMUS Night 2015 events. The project included: poster, billboard and book design. CONCEPT Since the event concept is ‘a glimpse to the past’ it has the time machine sense on the design. The design has futuristic feels from the chosen typefaces and colors. The concept is combining the future and the past at the same time. VISUALS The visual is very futuristic, however the illustration of pyramid and the buildings symbolize the meeting point of past and future.
