I would want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the teachers at my university and employers who have put in so much time and effort into each of the projects. They have offered unwavering support and insightful input that has been both motivating and encouraging. These experiences were crucial to my architectural education, which I treasure. It was a true honour to be in their capable hands. I’d like to express my gratitude to my family, friends, and loved ones for their constant love, support, and understanding.
Intro: Degree in Architecture The Degree in Architecture Portfolio features a compilation of 3 projects that were completed in years 3 and 4 (Bachelors of Science(Honours)in Architecture) of my university education at UiTM. The scale of the projects ranges from a singular and site specific exhibition centres to a masterplan for a high rise residential complex that occupies Kuching,Sarawak plots.Having gone through the 4 years, my knowledge and understanding in Architecture has increased exponentially. I hope to explore many more ideas in time to come. I certainly do look forward to the up and coming course and programs coming years.

// As architects, designers of space and environment, it is important to be flexible and able to accommodate to its dwellers in any given situation. The recent Covid-19 pandemic has challenged designers to build spaces that are bound to many restrictions like physical distancing, quarantine and contact-less interactions. Cultivating healthy relations are related to its environment. Family relations affects deeply on one’s mental well-being and the community’s social issues. There is an apparent loosening of family relations today as the world becomes more and more industrialized. Several family values, such as respect for and obedience to parents, that foster and cultivate unity and love within the family, have been eroded and corrupted by modernization. These lost family values result in many broken homes or families. They go wayward and become misguided when children are split from their parents or raised single parents. Many become addicted to prohibited drugs, unwed and/or separated parents and eventually become criminals or victims of crime. (Mazlan, 2012). In order to tackle the issues, the project aims to create a social house which help the residence and local people to socialize within the building and encourage social interaction by providing communal spaces and activities which also comply with COVID-19 S.O.P

Coalesce-Cure Ban Hock area is known for its active nightlife and has been a famous hangout for and local people. Large number of nightclubs, pubs and restaurants attract people to go there and this has liven up the place at night. However, Ban Hock streets are inactive during the day. This has risen up some issues regarding social problem among youth. Crimes are easily done by youngsters due to the lack of activities in the area during the day. Moreover, due to COVID-19 strikes, up to 20% of Malaysians who were previously working have been retrenched. These issues also contributed to increase crime rates in these area due to desperation.

Arus Isthmus : Kuching Histroical Transportation Museum Location: Kuching,Sarawak,Malaysia Tutors: Ms. Shafinaz Jamel & Ar. Mitchell Tony Moss Program: Bachelor of Science(Hons) Architecture, Year 4 Approach: Complementing river edge Key Features: Dynamic Form
arus
Arus // Through the vision of the Isthmus and its functions, this meant that the rivers play an important role in promoting the industrial and infrastructure growth of the island. The isolated nature of the island finds it a challenge to contextually connect with the rich culture of Sarawak. The commercial village of Isthmus has clear means of transport being connected by three bridges with jetties while surrounded by water bodies. Moreover, due to the future ART Transit Line, connectivity to the island will be further increased thus being able to grow and contribute to the state’s economy. This project is located in the small town of Kuching on Isthmus. An isthmus is a narrow strip of land that connects two larger landmasses and separates two bodies of water. Isthmus has been a strategic location for centuries. They are natural sites for ports and canals linking terrestrial and aquatic trade routes. The 240-acre isthmus has been created where the Sarawak and Santubong Rivers meet with the construction of barrage and bridge at either end of the isthmus. A two-lane highway bisects the curved Kuching Isthmus which is approximately one kilometre in length. The existing site is sitting at the riverside at road level, overlooking Sungai Sarawak. The site has created an appropriate fit into the greater future development of Kuching being the starting point of KUTS proposed Transit Map of ART Serian Line located at the nearby BCCK building. Therefore, it is evident that transportation plays a huge role in promoting development.
Program
Residential Pandemic Dwelling Coalesce Residence The edge of Isthmus is an obvious opportunity to translate the historic reference of public transport that has brought about the cultivation of Isthmus as a Central Business District. The Transportation Museum will serve to define the edge of Isthmus whilst hiding the unsightly industrial buildings after considering some of Sarawak’s transportation and the industrial context of the site. It is also worth considering how the building could give back and enhance the local community and neighbourhood. One thing that was hindering the production of the local perahu tambang operators was the growing presence of land transport, infrastructure and its definition as a recreation product to tourists as opposed to modes of transport over the years. The presence of ART and highways diminishes the cultural significance of perahu tambang as a means of transport. Apart from that, there were no jetties for public use and the closest ones were all at the Kuching Waterfront so this presented an opportunity to combine the function of the Transportation Museum with a jetty which would provide a new destination for perahu tambang operators and for the more lavish option, the sarawak river cruise. This would not only aim to foster a sense of historical awareness in the community but also provide tourists a destination to aid the economic growth of riverine public transport. This approach considers Isthmus’ surrounding context and history whilst also acknowledging the need for historical consciousness in the community. There’s now a way to use these constraints as a means to define the narrative of the Transportation Museum. The proposal to create not merely just a Museum but also a place of meeting on the island with an explicit civic presence that adds just another layer of history and meaning by intertwining an iconic transportation of Sarawak. The proposal aims to create an architectural landmark and become a distinct part of Isthmus’ identity and hopefully lasting many generations to come.

PREVIOUS PROJECTS AT A GLANCE
When all the principles are applied, a space that can effectively define its own nature and identity can be formed. The space will be able to stimulate senses and tell a story through its qualities. Expression is able to be conveyed to the audience and understood. Music has been a medium for expression since the beginning of time. Although the art of music and the art of creating space is executed through different methods, the essence of it is the same which is to influence the environment and display its message. The theme of the project is music genre. The music genre chosen is R&B. The task is to create an inhabitable structure that has no definitive purpose : urban folly. The concept behind the structure is to visualize the feelings that are went through when immersed in listening to R&B. When listening to R&B music, the intense feelings are portrayed through desperation, admiration and excitement. These feelings eventually build up to a point where it reaches a climax and is exposed. The transparency of feelings shows its pure and raw emotion.

As part of community service, we were approached by the headmaster of SMK Tabuan, a school that caters programs to students with special needs, to redesign the interior of two modules of classrooms to be used as a workshop for living skills \education. The spaces include a kitchen, living area, bedroom and laudry that will be used to educate the students on life skills. We approached the design for the interior spaces to ensure the eductors can easy facilitate the students in all spaces. Therefore, The existing classroom partitions were removed to provide open space for teachers to supervise every student’s activities. Four spaces: kitchen, laundry, living room and bedroom to simulate a living space to enhance living skills of students. Open and closed shelves for easy navigation.
