THE SITE Ban Hock area is known for its active nightlife and has been a famous hangout for local people. Large number of nightclubs, pubs, and restayrants attract people to go there and this has liven up the place at night. However, Ban Hock streets are inactive during the day. This has risen up some issues regarding social problems among youth. Crimes are easily done by youngstera due to the lack of activities in the area during the day. Moreover, due to COVID-19 strikes, up to 20% of Malaysians who were previously working have been retrenched. These issues also contribute to increasing crime rates due to desperation.
In order to tackle the issues, the project aims to create a social house which help the residence and local people to socialize within the building and encourage social interaction by providing communal spaces and activities which also comply with COVID-19 S.O.P Today as the country becomes more and more industrialized, there is an evident loosening of family ties. Several family values that promote and nurture solidarity and love within the family, such as respect for and obedience to parents, have been eroded and polluted by modernization.These lost family values result in many broken homes or families. As children are separated from their parents or reared single parents, they go wayward and become misguided. Many become addicted to prohibited drugs, unwed and/or separated parents and eventually become criminals or victims of crime. References:Che Soh, Mazlan. (2012). Create a community space and society that will nurture and care for each other to provide a wholesome environment to thrive in. In line with the tagline KitaJagaKita, an inisiative by the Malaysian Government in curbing Covid-19.

CRIME RATE In the criminal justice sector, several authorities say that poverty is a significant cause of crime. Of course, this is not to say that a person who wallows in wealth can’t be an convict. And even the wealthy perpetrate many crimes. The urban poor, however, are plagued by problems such as high living costs and financial difficulties, unstable jobs, lack of capital, limited educational opportunities, insufficient health and sanitation, and inadequate housing, among others. PROGRAMMES AND FACILITIES IMPLEMENTED
Loading bay can be transformed as swab test centres. From these swab tests, it is mandatory to go through a quarantine period. Therefore, the airbnb units will function as the qurantine centres. This will provide ease and minimal travel distance from the swab test centre to quarantine centre. The foyer, a resident communal space will function to carry out fitness and leisure activities. In the case of an outbreak however, would be used by the management for contact tracing, coordinate swab tests and quarantine as a disaster management hub.
To give a sence of security to residents who want to carry out recreational activity at night without leaving the complex, the Sky Garden is available for leisure and recreational activities. Due to the existance of pubs and clubs in walking distance, the airbnb would be a good alternative stay to curb any DUI’s(driving under the influence). There is a high likeliness of this happening due to the traffic conditions at night on weekends.
The Sky Garden is an open space with lush greenery landscape to carry out recreational activities. During an outbreak where tenants are not allowed to gather at a common space, the sky garden will function to collect rainwater which will then be distributed to unit terraces for them to carry out their farming/gardening activities to help sustain tenants from their units.
