Personal Responsibility – the Way to Change the World By Dana Gore
I agree or disagree with what is in place as of now since that is a political conversation and doesn’t belong in this article. What I AM going to discuss, however, is what healthcare symbolizes and how our perception about this subject can either victimize, or empower us.
Have you ever uttered the words, “Ugh, why me?” Or felt as though life, with its superb sense of humor, somehow always seems to throw circumstances your way that make you wonder if perhaps you’ve been cursed for something you have done in a past life? I know I have. In fact, I’ve had times in which such things happened so frequently that I had no choice but to physically laugh out loud in frustrated wonder over just how much mud could possibly be slung in my direction. Thankfully, however, I have learned a thing or two about how to handle such events. I personally believe that part of our journey here in Earth School is to understand the difference between reacting and responding to stimuli. And not only, in my humble opinion,

is this task one of our assignments, but it actually, to some degree at least, becomes (almost) a pleasure to experience once this trait is mastered. So how does one go from thinking “why me?” to “ohhh, I see what’s really going on here. How would I like to see this play itself out?” Keep reading and I’ll tell you. You see, I have received some rather interesting epiphanies this year, one of which being that all circumstances are neutral until we define them. I’ll rephrase this… All circumstances in life are, by default, neutral until we assign them meaning. So what does this mean, exactly? Well, instead of explaining it, I’ll use an example. How about our current Healthcare System? Now, I am not going to discuss whether

Considering that the way we care for our health has been on the decline for some time now, it’s no wonder that many of us have become sick with preventable illnesses. Poor diets, sedentary lifestyles, stress, anxiety and depression have become the “norm” and as a result, several of us have had to look outside of ourselves to feel better. Doctor’s visits and an abundance of prescription medications have been slowly, but surely dominating our reality and because of this, costs continue to rise and we are feeling the pain. We are also collectively in disagreement with one another over how things are being handled and this adds to societal conflict. This is an example of a definition that would cause one to feel powerless and it is what would be considered “negative”. On the other hand, if we look at the same situation and allow ourselves to get curious, we are open to ideas that may actually help us feel good about how we can contribute toward a solution because from this perspective, we aren’t focused on the “problem” because we haven’t defined it as such! So we take a step back and say something like, “Wow, we’re all getting sick huh? How much of our ‘sickness’ is a result of lifestyle? How many of these ‘conditions’ are of our own creation? Do we have to have diabetes? Heart disease? Cigarette related illnesses?
Aeature rticle F What would happen if I simply started taking better care of myself? Maybe I wouldn’t be dependent on a system that seems to cause a lot more pain that healing.”
we would rather experience, instead of what we dislike about WHAT IS, we shift from being powerless to being empowered. We feel better, and we take action…with enthusiasm!
And what if everyone else did this too?
We tend to get so wrapped up in what we don’t prefer that we forget that it’s seeing this exact perspective that enables us to align with, and then DECIDE, what we WOULD prefer.
Which answers the BIG QUESTION… “What is my personal responsibility in all of this?” By assuming personal responsibility for everything that occurs in our lives, we refocus our attention away from feeling offended about a given situation and instead toward what we can do about what we would prefer to create. We become the conductor, if you will, of our own personal orchestra otherwise known as reality. And again, given that we create this reality, when we put the focus on what
That’s all a problem is. When we take responsibility for what it is we create, good or bad, we then have the power to define it, and therefore, give it new meaning and act on it. Is it always easy to do this? No, but it’s simple and the only requirements to learn this new skill are practice, patience, willingness and imagination. See for yourself!

Feature Change Your Script, Change Your Life By Janet A. Courtney, PhD, LCSW When Shakespeare proclaimed, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players,” he hit a cord of truth with generations of admirers. For more than 400 years since those 13 words were uttered, people have realized that they, too, are players on a stage, with memorized scripts that they act out beginning in early childhood. As a Child and Family Therapist, I am acutely aware of the unhealthy patterning of behavior and communication that can often be resistant to change. The late renowned Family Therapist, Virginia Satir agreed, claiming there is a “strong pull to the familiar” (refer to the book, The New Peoplemaking). However, I have discovered that families and individuals can break away from old patterns of communication, revise their roles and enjoy life more if they can rewrite their lines, so to speak. I decided to apply this theory while working with a family that included three elementary-age children. The children were stuck in negative patterns of communication that caused a perpetual state of tension in the household. Additionally, the home conflicts often carried over into the school environment where the children would treat each other antagonistically. The parents were at a loss as to how to handle the problem and consequently were either playing referee between the children or yelling to try to get them to change their behavior. During our first family session, I listened closely to each family member and how they described their patterns of communication~ who said what to whom, how it was said, how it was responded to, etc. Essentially I was listening for their internalized and repetitive blueprints of relating. I next directed the conversation to a discussion on Shakespeare ~ and plays ~ and movies ~ and storytelling. The children understood how story characters needed to memorize their lines by reading from a script. Using
12
www.kandeeg.com
Shakespeare’s metaphor, I asked the family members to see themselves as performers acting out scenes in a play and to view their communications as rehearsed lines. I explained that in order to create change, they needed to change their scripts. Using a family struggle of sharing a computer as an example, I directed them to individually write out new statements, questions, comments, or responses of communication intended to help settle the problem. Most importantly, I emphasized that their new scripts must always finish with a “happy ending”. The “happy ending” motif is central to this exercise because it helps to push the interactions toward resolution. When they finished, we staged a “rehearsal”. With their written scripts in hand they each practiced reading their new lines. Instead of arguing over the computer they endeavored to find fresh ways to negotiate compromise and proffer respect. During the following appointment 10 days later, the parents shared with me that there had been no instances of conflict. The mother indicated that, “the children worked hard all week to constantly re-write their scripts”. The task also had an unexpected result: the children’s attitudes toward each other in school also changed and they began to see each other as useful allies instead of competitors. Family systems theory postulates that it only takes one person to stimulate change within a system. Meaning when one person begins to “dance” in a different way, then all others around that person must adjust to that new dance. When all members of a family simultaneously start to dance differently, then the possibility for incredible states of change can transform lives like “magic”. The majority of our daily patterns of communication - whether within our personal relationships, work environments, or other areas of contact - are mostly old and worn out scripts

often passed down through generations. Some work for us in positive ways, while others can create and re-create unhealthy life interactions that can hinder us from reaching our highest potential. Changing the scripts that no longer serve us takes a concentrated effort of self-examination. Sometimes we may need a mirror such as a counselor or coach to see ourselves more clearly. Other times we can examine our scripts through creative writing, journaling or even by writing our own story through a life review. In my own life, I enjoy visioning and re-writing my scripts by creating collages of images that act as symbolic representations of my-life-play. After completing a collage, I gain deeper insight into myself by stepping back and observing the art work from a distance. In whatever form you choose, the end process can create newfound pathways of relating and an increased sense of personal and professional fulfillment. As a final thought, remember that your scripts help to define who you are, and the roles that you play in the theater of life”

Taking personal responsibility: Adjusting Your Mirrors and managing your Blind Spots: By Helen Turnbull
I was exiting the Freeway and as I pulled on to the main road I noticed the School Zone Signs and immediately slowed down. It is interesting how our body memory has such a strong stimulus-response that I unconsciously took personal responsibility for slowing down even when the lights were not flashing. As I cleared the School Zone I put my foot on the accelerator and a few minutes later glanced at my speedometer and noticed that I was doing 42 mph. As I was in a 40 mph zone I backed my foot off the gas. I saw a Police Motor Cyclist making a u-turn and much to my astonishment he flashed his blue lights and pulled me over. Are you kidding me? Is he seriously going to give me a ticket for being 2 miles over the limit? I pulled over and after the customary and humiliating wait as he checked my license plate, I was flabbergasted when he walked towards the car and proceeded to tell me that I was doing 58 mph. I told him categorically that I was not driving at that speed, but nothing I said persuaded him otherwise as he dispassionately printed the ticket. I was left feeling a deep sense of injustice and indignation. Normally I have no problem taking personal responsibility for my actions and in fact, had I been doing 58 mph I would have shrugged my shoulders, admitted I was caught and quietly accepted the ticket; kicking
14

myself at the same time for being so irresponsible. The fact that I know I was not doing 58 mph makes it much more difficult and unpalatable to accept personal responsibility. I drove away, super careful to abide by the speed limit, but my inner voice had no speed limit; it was racing with indignation and frustration. What I said and what I was thinking were two very different things. It was going to be challenging to take personal responsibility for this situation, but I knew that I had to dig deep and find the lessons; not to mention, pay the price. Owning our mistakes and learning from them allows others to experience us as being more authentic and trustworthy. But what happens when the only person we are accountable to is ourselves and we experience discordance between what we say and what we are thinking? Within every cultural group, we are appropriately socialized, and for the most part, abide by a set of unspoken social norms. As a consequence of that conditioning we tend to take responsibility for our words, if not our thoughts. We have probably all had experiences when people have broken the social norms and the outcome has been raw, unfiltered and not necessarily effective. Life experience teaches us to keep things to ourselves, to be discreet and to not
Winter 2013 - Kandee G Enterprises
always voice what we are thinking and yet, I would contend that there are times when what we are saying and what we are thinking is so consistently incongruent that eventually we pay the price for the misalignment. Sometimes, for example, we give people positive compliments just to be “nice” when our inner voice is saying “Not!” Other times we agree to do things for people when our inner voice is screaming out “Why me again”. Are you in touch with the times when the words coming out of your mouth are not matching with your inner voice? How do you take personal responsibility for that? Are you, for example, a people pleaser and yet the last person you please is yourself? What could you do differently? Remember that the airlines always tell us that before we can help others we should put our own oxygen mask on first. An area of discordance that is of particular interest to me is political correctness. Since the late 1980’s when Corporate Diversity and Inclusion work began to gain momentum, we have learned to be politically correct and to not only choose our words carefully, but to remain silent about what we might really be thinking. I am left musing about the price we pay for this polite and apparently civilized societal coping mechanism. Does it

According to Argyris and Schon (1974) we all have mental maps of how to act in certain situations and yet most of us are unaware of these maps and how they operate at an unconscious level. There is also misalignment between our Espoused Theory and our Theory in use – in other words, we do not practice what we say we do. Perhaps it is time for us all to become Reflective Practitioners and to take personal responsibility for our thoughts as well as our words. realized it wasn’t entertainment, it was torture. She asked her nephew Kartick to help her “stop the dance.” Studying business in college at the time, Kartick was naturally drawn back to his childhood passion for protecting the wounded. But now, he was older and more experienced. He took a practical, business-like approach to address the daunting problem. For hundreds of years, the nomadic Kalandar people of India have trapped and brutally trained wild sloth bears to dance: killing mothers and snatching cubs, knocking out their teeth with metal rods, piercing their muzzles with a burning needle to pass the rope through and secure them as moneyearners. Beatings and starvation were common. As a boy in India, Kartick Satyanarayan adored the underdogs of the animal world. He adopted ugly kittens, injured crows and so many snakes his mother tried to banish his rescue operations from her house.
Fast-forward thirty-five years, and you find the affable, dynamic Satyanarayan still breaking his mother’s rules on the grandest scale imaginable. Kartick and his wildlife rescue partner Geeta Seshamani recently celebrated their tenth anniversary at the House of Lords in England. They were honored for rescuing the first dancing bear in India and the last dancing bear in India. After ten years’ hard work, 1,200 sloth bears no longer dance in pain for tourist dollars.
Kartick knew that for his work to be a success, he had to do four things: rescue and rehabilitate the bears, create sanctuaries for them, give the Kalandar gypsies alternative work, and stop the poaching of sloth bear cubs.
Just one of these huge undertakings would stump your average activist. 1,200 dancing bears held in captivity throughout an enormous country. 200 cubs poached in secrecy each year. A gypsy tribe scattered throughout India. How did Kartick find the courage to Alan Knight, Chief Executive of the begin? world-renowned International Animal Rescue said, “In all my years in animal “I didn’t think it needed courage,” he welfare I have never been part of such a says, “all it needed was passion, and I resounding success story. They ended India’s bear dancing, giving hundreds of Kalandar families new professions and educating nearly 1,000 of their children. They formed an anti-poaching unit called Forestwatch, which collaborates with police and forest departments across India. Kartick works unending hours and has been known to carry up to seven cell phones to receive reports on wildlife crises throughout India. He goes on undercover sting operations to apprehend traders and save bear cubs. Does he worry, placing his life in danger? “Usually, foolish people are the most dangerous in rescue work. Foolish or greedy people.”
Today, the original Wildlife S.O.S. sanctuary—the Agra Bear Rescue Facility near the Taj Mahal—is the largest bear facility in the world. Born of tireless fundraising, government and NGO partnerships, and the dedication of paid staff and volunteers alike, Wildlife S.O.S. perfectly expresses Kartick’s vision: “We want these dancing bears to forget the dance.”
take, consume, eat and use everything from nature. What does every human being strive to give back before leaving this planet? Very little. But if every human being started giving back something to nature, leaving something behind, that would make such a big difference.”
Bear rehabilitation delights him. It’s the upside of the job. When the dancing bears first arrived at the sanctuaries, they came out of the truck “extremely frightened, cowering in a corner, aggressive.” But once they venture outside their quarantine pens, he says, “the metamorphosis begins.” The bears start to play and eat things they never had before. “They absolutely love honey. Once they begin to forget the trauma, a completely new animal emerges.”
Kartick Satyanarayan is the co-founder of Wildlife SOS in India. He is working in India to both protect wildlife in its natural environment and to rescue abused and mistreated animals. He currently has programs and rescue facilities that help reptiles, bears, elephants, leopards and monkeys. These facilities operate throughout India. He is most known for his work in putting an end to the practice of ‘dancing bears’ in India.
A completely new animal who recovers its original instinctive life. What sustains this amazing, accomplished, driven man? Kartick says, “The philosophy we believe in sustains me.” He considers the whole world to be his mother’s house. “We

Personal Responsibility By Dee Wallace
white, written formula our brains can embrace for 2013.
STEP ONE:
I must accept the responsibility that I create my own life.
STEP TWO:
Part of that responsibility is knowing that I Am the God of Me that creates me and, therefore my life. In other words, I have the free will to choose.
STEP THREE:
I choose exactly what I want to create. The POSITIVE that I want to create.
STEP FOUR:
I am excited. Yippee and woo-hoo. We are finally knowing what we know and knowing THAT we know. And when we know that, all answers are revealed. We are fine tuning the creation process and seeing where we have been missing the links, and where the focus has eluded us. We have all the answers, and now we are meeting the challenge of living the process. Yes, there is a learning curve. Yes, it can at times be a bit daunting and overwhelming. And we are doing it. We are taking personal responsibility for the creation of Us!
I commit to the choice I choose. It is not an empty affirmation, a prayer that turns my responsibility over to another energy, or a hopeful wish that I might get what I want. It is a COMMITMENT to create it by me, for me, in partnership with all energy.
STEP FIVE:
When I commit, I then DIRECT my energy. I literally tell my energy what to do, what to create. It is a direction I consciously give myself, i.e. putting water in the freezer to make ice.
celebration at the creation that the God of Me has manifested. I feel love for myself as the creative entity and the majestic creator that I am. I choose to BE happiness and joy and love----because I know those are the emotional equivalents to creating. That is how creation happens: by feeling good. Feeling good makes us powerful. Loving ourselves divinely, which means unconditionally, is the beginning of conscious creation Itself.
STEP EIGHT:
I turn it over and allow all the energy of the world to deliver my creation in the most miraculous way possible. I ALLOW MYSELF TO RECEIVE, knowing that I am worthy and deserve all the blessings of my heart. When we live each and every moment in these principles, AND APPLY THEM, we live every moment as a conscious creator. We are freedom and joy and bliss and balance, because we know the God of Me is always creating the God of Me. And so it is! Blessings, Dee~
STEP SIX:
“Kandee G’s favorite book of 2011”
We are also allowing ourselves to embrace the ease of it, now that we know we can do it, and have released the resistance to the creation process itself. We are realizing that the more we accept that we are it, and it is complete, the more we allow it to be the creation it is. So I want to list the steps we know, so that there is a solid, black and

The Power to Succeed or Fail By Don Boyer
Over twenty years ago, my millionaire mentor told me; “you can accept the way things are or take the responsibility to change them”. It was the extraordinary success teacher the late Jim Rohn that said; “The highest form of maturity is making no excuses when the harvest your harvest is small and no apologies when your harvest is great”. What that equates to is the simple fact that the power to succeed or fail lies in personal responsibility. When you come to the point in your life when you are ready to take one hundred percent responsibility for the results in your life, you will have taken the first step in accomplishing every dream and goal you have set sail for. Taking personal responsibility for your life allows you to not only control your life, but the conditions and circumstances that come into your life. Taking personal responsibility for your life makes you a Master of Your Life. As a Master, you get to decide what you want to do, what you want to have, what you want to become and what you want to accomplish. It allows you to live life on your terms instead of living life on the terms of others, which by the way is rarely in your best interest. In the movie that Melinda, Kandee G and I produced titled “Embrace The Journey” (www.EmbracetheJourney. net) starring Brian Tracy, Bob Proctor and Les Brown, we endeavored to portray to the audience the fact that the road to success is paved with setbacks, obstacles, disappoints and calamity. However, learning to take personal responsibility gives you the power, strength and fortitude to make it past those set backs and achieve your dreams.
Taking personal responsibility for your life will require you to give up games like… The Blame Game: Blaming everybody for why you failed to reach your dreams. The Complain Game: Complaining how rotten your life is yet refusing to do anything about it. Remember, if you want things to change you are going to have to change things. The “I Will Try Game”: There are no such things as try. To try to do something simply invites failure to take residence in your life and give it permission to show up at any time of the day. When you ask your friends if they are going to make your speaking or network marketing meeting tonight and they say, “I will try” do yourself a favor and lose those kind of friends. Your really do not want them in your network of contacts. I remember so well, Brian Tracy talking to all the cast members of our movie the night of our red carpet premier, saying, “When your friends tell you they are broke…Believe Them! Meaning, stop working to recruit people who refuse to take personal responsibility for their own life. The Excuse Game: The biggest book in the world is the book of excuses and most people are best selling authors in it. I remember a very successful attorney I knew who made an appointment with a friend of his. Some how he forgot to write it down. When he failed to show up for the appointment and his friend called him, and seeing his number on the phone screen, he simply answered the phone with “No Excuses”. That is taking personal responsibility. I Quit Game: Sure methods change,

systems that do not work are replaced with systems that do work, but changing things that don’t work for things that may work is a far cry from giving up or quitting. Winners are simply ex-losers who refused to quit. In life and business it is simply is impossible to fail providing you do not quit. When you take responsibility for your life quitting or giving up is simply not an option. The Drama Game: They say that our chances for survival in a life and death situation increase to 95 percent if we do not panic and keep a level head. Life has ups and downs for all of us however far too many people take the smallest down, a Moe hill if you please and make mountains out of them. Exercising personal responsibility allows you to keep a level head in all situations thus allowing you to experience the best possible out come possible. The power of personal responsibility, it will allow you to reach your loftiest dreams, conquer your highest mountains, achieve your wildest goals and live a life that is rewarding, effective, productive and highly fulfilling. Got any goals for the New Year? I encourage you to make Personal Responsibility one of them!

you the promotion, your spouse for holding you back, or the economy for limiting your opportunities; take a look at what you may have done, or not done, that caused you to be where you are. If you have been where you are for an extended period of time, it isn’t someone else’s fault. If you honestly look at yourself and determine you have gone the extra mile and done everything you can, it may be time to make some changes.
Has your life become a series of excuses? Do you feel as though the world is against you and keeping you from being the success you should be? Perhaps it’s time to take a look at just who is responsible for the failure to live up to your expectations. Learning to accept personal responsibility for your life is the difference between childish perceptions and a mature, honest assessment of situations and circumstances. There is only one person who has control over the results you achieve in life. That person is you. Your actions and reactions, your perceptions, and your excuses are what determine your outcomes. If you want to be more successful, take more responsibility for your own success. Instead of blaming the boss for not giving

Making the decision to move on is part of taking responsibility for yourself. Staying stuck is allowing circumstances and other people to control your destiny. You can probably come up with a lot of “reasons” why you didn’t get the new position, don’t have the perfect relationship or can’t afford the new car. Every one of them is an excuse. It is easy to rationalize our failures when we are in the habit of making excuses and blaming others for our shortcomings, but this does nothing to improve our lives. Stop making excuses for yourself. Make decisions instead. Decide to make some positive changes now. Failure can be a wonderful educational opportunity. When you learn from your failures, you are more prepared for the next opportunity. You are taking control and creating an environment in which others can see your talents and abilities. If you constantly blame someone or something outside of yourself for what goes wrong, you automatically eliminate the possibility of learning anything from the experience. There are no miracles, no overnight successes. People who are

where you want to be have taken responsibility for getting themselves there. Of course, they have had help along the way. Successful people seek out those who can help them. They are willing to learn from others. They are flexible and instead of making excuses why they can’t, they do whatever it takes to succeed. They challenge themselves instead of sitting back waiting for someone to come along and hand it to them. They don’t make excuses when they stumble, they get back up and try again. If you don’t like the way your life looks, stop and consider the causes of the things in your life which you don’t like. Once you see what has been creating the life you are living, start removing the causes one by one and replacing them with something that will get you where you want to go. Stop making excuses, stop blaming the dog and start doing your homework. Judi Moreo has presented keynote speeches, workshops, and seminars in twenty-seven countries on four continents. Dream Big Showcase Article
Energetic Planet: A Bold Vision for a Sustainable Future By: Hank Eder, Staff Writer
What Exactly is the Dream Big Showcase? Do you know someone who had a dream and went for it? Are they living their dream despite the odds? Each issue of Nothing But Good News Magazine will feature a unique individual that threw caution to the wind and went after their dream. Submit your ideas to A lifelong awareness that the world needs changing led a South Florida man to find ways to make those changes happen. The launch of Jared Krupnick’s new membership site, Energetic Planet, is an important step in bringing his vision of a sustainable world into the here and now. Jared Krupnick’s desire to be a catalyst for change goes back to early childhood. “I remember back to when I was a small child, and I was visioning ways I wanted to see society shift,” he said. “I wanted to see society be a truer reflection of our divine essence. I’m able to use those words now. As a child I couldn’t put those words to it, but looking back I can see that’s really what I was thinking. Then I got caught up in a lot of the patterning that most of us do as we’re growing up, until the last few years that I’ve been practicing a higher level of awareness. Now that I can discern my own patterns and responses, I’m able to bring my daily life closer to my divine essence. That’s really what Energetic Planet is for me – to build the tools and the organization to allow others to awaken into their

Arlie@KandeeG.com own divine essence.” Jared, an aerospace engineer, computer programmer, and web designer, has focused his varied skills on a solution-based system that he believes can transform society. “Energetic Planet is the engineered solution to transition our society from where we are currently to a sustainable society living in harmony with our natural resources and with each other generation after generation.” Jared’s engineered solutions are based on an innovative membership site, which will bring together thought leaders, business people, and the public in ways previously unimaginable. “The first stage, the membership organization will align us all and allow us to create an organizational structure to be able to mobilize our energies first on a local basis, then across the country, and then across the planet.”
Winter 2013 - Kandee G Enterprises
Creating a sustainable society is a far-reaching goal, and to do so, Jared pointed out the need to bring our societal systems into alignment with this goal. “These systems are, for example, our education system, our health care system, our political system, our media, our monetary system – there are lots of people and lots of organizational ideas of new paradigms for all those types of systems. But we’re never going to have any of those new paradigms become the norm until we have energetic alignment with millions or tens of millions of people behind them.” Jared believes the purpose of Energetic Planet is to align the energies behind those new paradigms. “So, honestly, Energetic Planet as an organization isn’t so concerned in the short-term with what the actual solutions are, so much as creating a process and an infrastructure to allow us to sort through those solutions that are already out there and allow people to put their energies behind the solutions
Dream Big Showcase Article segment or organization in society could develop on their own.” The notion of “content management” goes even further as more people become aligned with the synergy of new systems. “Energetic Planet is, in many ways, a tool to help organize our energies and our intentions even before they get translated into visions on paper or on video, but simply people that have like intentions and energies are finding each other, coming together, collaborating,” Jared said. “In that way, Energetic Planet is designed to be the bridge between the energetic realm and the physical realm, to be able to provide the tools that transform energy into communication.”
that end up being the best solutions for society. So as the new paradigms for education, health care and other systems have more energy behind them than the old paradigms, then we’ll gradually start to see the shift in our physical reality from the old to the new, following the energetic shifts.” Energetic Planet is launching an initiative called Community Incorporated. “We’re taking the corporate model and overlaying it onto our local community,” Jared said. “All the different businesses within the community can operate as if our community was a corporation, and we all have our own departments within the corporation. The interactions, the synergy of the cross-pollination between all the different businesses, will definitely lend itself to a deepening of success for individuals, as well as for the entire community.” Jared spoke of the current mindset, where we are more aware of celebrities – actors, singers, and sports figures – than we are of the thought leaders who are reshaping our society. This will be changing as new models emerge,
such as Energetic Planet, to allow us to focus more on emerging solutions to transforming our society. “As people start to get engaged and excited about the results they can see in their own daily lives, through the adoption and dissemination of these new models for living, then we’ll start to see some gravitational forces and momentum in the shifting of our society,” Jared pointed out. The notion of Energetic Planet goes back to Jared’s experiences as a website designer for non-profit organizations. He began to develop content-management systems for his clients to be able to update their own websites. Now, on a larger scale, he sees the launch of Energetic Planet as a larger-scale means of content management for the larger society. “By pooling the resources of all my different clients into one development tool and then developing some sophisticated technologies that they could all use, that planted the seeds for Energetic Planet. We’re really pooling the resources of our entire society to develop a platform that is more useful and more sophisticated than any one
Winter 2013 - Kandee G Enterprises
Energetic Planet is launching in February, with a group of 135 launch partners, of which 45 comprise the Leadership Council. Launch partners are local South Florida businesses, organizations, and individuals that are making a commitment to be involved and engaged in the technology development and the organizational structure. There are still openings for launch partners, and Jared pointed out that any business or individual can apply and enjoy the benefits, which include the technology and business support services. This includes monthly network sessions and participation in Community Incorporated. After the technology is launched in February, different levels of membership become available, allowing businesses and individuals to take advantage of the many benefits of membership in Energetic Planet. Energetic Planet embraces some very big dreams in a time of planetary evolution that calls for an everexpanding vision of growth and positive change. It’s a bold step toward a sustainable future. Article Respond With Ability To Reclaim Your True Self By Hank Eder
I read about a man who lost his job, started writing stories, never looked back, and now he has a best-selling suspense series and a lucrative film deal. He could have bemoaned his “rotten luck” and claimed for himself the dubious title of “victim.” Instead he saw his circumstances as an opportunity to step through a new door into a much larger room. In other words, he took personal responsibility for the direction of his life. Most of us have had the opportunity to blame circumstances when things haven’t gone our way. Does this sound familiar? Try a few on for size: “The boss didn’t like me.” “The customers were rude.” My co-workers were mean.” The common factor here is pointing a finger of blame instead of doing some deep soul-searching. A more productive approach would be to ask the question, “What can I change inside myself that would move my life forward?” This can be a tough one. It means no more finger-pointing, no more victim-victimizer games, no more looking outside ourselves for answers that can only come by getting back in touch with our deepest inner voices. I like to call that deep inner voice my Hero’s Voice. It knows how to cut pas the hard shell of excuses and head straight for the heart. We all have a Hero’s Voice. It might be just a whisper, because we stopped giving it our attention long ago, to do things we thought we had to do, or others wanted us to do in the disguise of being “responsible.” The Hero’s Voice represents our deepest, fondest dreams. We all know what those dreams are. It’s what we answer when someone asks the question, “What would you be doing
with your life right now if money was not a consideration?” In other words, if you didn’t feel obligated to work at something you realize you’d rather not be doing, just because it’s the “adult” or “responsible” thing to do, what would you choose to do instead?” Then ask the question, “Why am I not doing that?” If the thing we wish to be doing seems more real than what we are doing, maybe there’s a valid reason for this “cognitive disconnect.” Is it because we really do need to become that which we hold so dearly in our dreams? Yes. To do otherwise is to deny the Hero’s Voice. That’s the easy way out, and by doing more of what you’ve always done (as the saying goes), you’ll get more of what you’ve always gotten. It’s time to make a change. Here’s a good way to look at the meaning of responsibility. I can’t take credit for it; it was taught to me. Responsibility simply means, “to respond with ability.” It has nothing to do with toiling for countless years at something unfulfilling just because we’ve been told it’s the “grownup” thing to do. It has everything to do with going deep within, rediscovering who we truly are, and then reclaiming ourselves. Bear with me for a moment, before you shake your head and decide I’m just building castles in the clouds. I’m not talking about being “unrealistic.” I don’t mean that if you’re totally done deaf that you should pursue a career in opera. I’m speaking about being true to your Vision by keeping it true to yourself. Let’s say you’ve always had a talent for art. You’ve dabbled a bit over the years and knocked out a painting here and there. People say you ought to be an artist. Well, guess what? You ARE an artist. The only thing standing between you and being an artist is your belief. Begin by declaring yourself an artist.
Introduce yourself to people as an artist. Then, by all means, BE an artist. Don’t wait until retirement age to be an artist. Be an artist now. Take some art classes; get yourself full of paint as each new masterpiece emerges. You can make this part of your life NOW. You don’t have to quit your job and live on rice and bean sprouts. Just begin by acknowledging what you truly are, and then spend part of each day BEING it. Visualize it, feel it, revel in it. This is who you are. An artist! Soon something magical happens. Your life as an artist starts to overshadow your former life. Doors open where there used to only walls. You have awakened to the real YOU, and your Hero’s Voice is no longer whispering. It’s coming in loud and clear. You are taking personal responsibility. You are responding with ability!

Current projects include the final stages of co-writing a “dramady” screenplay titled “Bipolar Express,” working on two speculative fiction novels, and researching and developing a book and series of workshops concerning “Your Life On the Hero’s Journey.” Catch up with Hank at hankeder@yahoo.com.

me, “Only write a book if you are compelled to do it. It is truly a labor of love.” And it is one of the most demanding and rewarding processes I have ever experienced. I know why people love sharing their books with others. It is like a birth. You may remember how it felt when you held your baby or niece out for others to see; it is the same with bringing forth the vision that transforms ideas to paper. It feels wonderful!
Behind the Scenes Celebrity Interviews & Inspiring Life Lessons Liz Sterling “There is a woman for whom I have deep respect… her name is Liz Sterling.” Maya Angelou
I used to pride myself in saying, “I shoot from the hip.” That meant I could respond quickly and deal with whatever came up. Yet later in life, right around the time I turned 50, something else started happening. I noticed many of my responses were reactions. There’s a big difference between the ability to respond to a situation and the habituated reactions that come naturally -- but not necessarily responsibly. I was recently challenged to draw upon this new skill set of shifting from reactivity to being response–able and discovered it was a great life lesson. Here’s what happened. I’d been working intensively with a New York publisher to get my book to market. Months of writing and editing and revisions and layout and design approval and corrections and you name it, every conceivable emotion and feeling showed up. If you’ve written a book, you know the drill. If not, someone once told
So after my labor of love, when the proof arrived, the margins were all wrong. Something happened. Actually, there were no margins at all as the words ran from one page to another. I was fuming, livid and wild with unbridled energy that bundled me up like a straight jacket. What I held in hand was totally unacceptable. Anger, disappointment, frustration and projection toward my publisher rose up like a geyser from my emotional underground. With phone in hand, I was ready to rage and something stopped me. Some sense of personal responsibility pulled me back and asked me to examine what opportunity may be present to respond differently. I realized I was getting ready to live a chapter out of my book on Learning Lessons. Here’s an excerpt: “Gaining the understanding that life brings us situations that are designed to help us gain greater knowledge about how we think, act and feel is like winning the lottery!!! Oh my goodness, I am constantly learning and have discovered life lessons can be painful, hard, frustrating and scary or joyous and liberating. Many of the wayshowers have said that life is a school. Problems are simply part of the curriculum; but the lessons—

they last a lifetime and are one of the core reasons for living. I love this wisdom quote, “Life is a classroom in which you are being tested, tried, and passed. You can’t predict what will happen to you, but you can decide what happens in you.” The real test of living is to take each experience and receive its value. It’s an interesting approach to life and gives us powerful benefits. Living as a lesson learner puts you in the driver’s seat. You are taking responsibility to extract the nectar of life and use it to gain self awareness and understanding. Victims, on the other hand, suffer from being at the mercy of others and don’t get to grow. A victim says, “They did it to me,” and gives away their power to evolve. The more we see the lessons that are showing up in life, the easier it becomes. So now, I look at my reactions. They guide me like pieces of a puzzle.” Philosopher and mystic, Osho, once said, “You are not the doer, you are the watcher.” Better the watcher than the doer be… so when practicing personal responsibility, old reactive habits become new opportunities for awareness and sometimes, in the case of the margin-less book, improved relationships. With book in hand, and the rage under control of the watchful awareness of my grown up self, I took a deep breath, remembered that everything happens for a reason, relied on logic to bring clarity to the mystery that incited this misunderstanding. After I informed the publisher of my findings we agreed to join together and discern what had happened. Unbeknownst to us, the book interior was somehow mysteriously changed from a 51/2 x 81/2 to a 6 x 9. The layout was

Meet and Greet Santa
& Mrs Claus with Pilots & Friends A company and a culture to be proud of! Amerijet International spends a considerable amount of time and effort on creating a culture of growth, community, excitement, fun and rewards. It is important to the company to make a real difference. Not just in the lives of the employees, but the community as well. For the second year in a row, a phenomenal event was created. Meet and Great Santa has been such a huge hit. This Family Wonderland is a magical place for family, friends, and coworkers to celebrate the season. This year’s event was celebrated with over 550 in attendance! You could wander through Santa’s Work Shop and Castle, a custom designed airplane stage, a pony corral, a kids play pen, and a family photo box area. There was Meet and Greet Santa with Santa, Mrs. Claus and a pilot in airplane. They also offered Red Carpet pictures with the visiting stars. The kids loved the magic show, and the kids fashion show was a big hit with kids and parents, alike. A special Hollywood Walk of fame with personalized stars for the volunteers led the way. There was even a limo ride with Mrs. Claus and a pilot. Not to mention the train rides to the airplane and delicious pizza, chicken, rice and beans. The kids received a personalized ID picture badge, piggy bank and Build & Grow kit. Of course Amerijet International is incredibly grateful to all the sponsors who contributed to make this such a successful event. Sponsors include: Kandee G, Lowe’s, Pollo Tropical, Home Depot, Miami Fashion board, Tropical Financial Credit Union, Paul the Magician, Vanguard Cleaning Company, Jump It Up Party Rental, GoldenWoodStudio.com, Luis Belgodere, Pizza Hut, Larry’s Limo, Jump It Up Party Rental, Home Goods, The Field Shop, Pan Am Int’l Flight Academy, Toys R Us In 2013 Amerijet International has teamed up with one of their sponsors to offer a free Santa visit to a children’s charity they currently support. This will be a great surprise for the kids!

A Leader in Customer Service Internal and external customers are very important to Amerijet’s employees. This was demonstrated at the event when a little girl waited for the trains to be raffled. When she didn’t win, she walked away incredibly sad and disappointed. Not to let that happen at such a magical event, volunteers noticed and Captain Nader Daily found an extra train set for her. Bringing such joy and happiness to this little girl, was a great end to a wondrous day. Our very own Kandee G got swept up in the excitement and joy as she became Mrs. Claus for the day. Amerijet extends their thanks to Kandee G for donating her valuable time & services for This great Santa Event. The kids were so excited to meet Mrs. Claus in one of Amerijet’s airplanes and later for the limo ride around the airport. Two hours was a long time to sit in the car to meet a new family every 5 minutes but Mrs. Claus embraced the challenge so well and made each family felt as if it was the first 5 minute ride for the day (Car was sponsored by Larry’s Limos). Mrs. Claus even had shavings on her shoes from when she fed the reindeer at the North Pole Amerijet employees are already working on the 2013 event and it’s sure to be even bigger and better than years past.
Ethan’s comment before the limo ride to his dad: Like we do not have snow, does Mrs. Claus drive a limo in Miami because Santa flies the airplane? Johnny (His Dad) : No, we will sit at the back of the limo with her. Ethan’s comment in the limo to Mrs. Claus: I did not know that Santa Claus was married with someone so young? Then Mrs. Claus had a very big, big smile and started to fix her hair up and ask me questions about myself. -Ethan (Andrea Calvo)

It was a great holiday party and very successful. Just from walking around and talking with the other guests….it showed that everyone was having a wonderful time. Afterwards, I asked my son Vincent what his favorite part of the party was. He stated that the best part of the day was “taking the train to the plane to see Santa”. -Donald Ciullo
Enzo and Dino thought the event was fun and were completely BLOWN AWAY by the custom & personalized back drop created for them to display their minis. They were speechless with their jaws dropped when they saw it. They were beyond thrilled to be able to share their Minis with the other children of Amerijet. One of their most memorable high lights was, Mrs. Claus personally visited them in the corral and they share their minis with her. They loved the whole area and wanted to be sure we weren’t going to throw it away and that they would see it next year. They are already counting down the days for next year’s event! - Jennifer Torlone

“The Amerijet Christmas’s event this year was a thrilling adventure that my little sister Melanie, 4 years old and I experienced. Greeting Santa and Mrs. Claus with her beautiful long red dress was magical. Seeing them both among all the kids including my sister made us very happy. With all the decorations, mini horses, music and holiday spirit and especially having my picture taken in the plane with my sister and Santa, it felt like if we were in a Christmas fairytale. Melanie loved going in the plane and also doing the face paint.” Can’t wait for next year!!!!!… -Sharon (Lizeth Ruiz)

Dear Gabriela
It was very nice meeting you at the Amerijet Family Wonderland party. Thank you for taking the time to write me and asked to raise money to help poor kids. At 9 years old, you are such an inspiration to other kids and have giving heart. Hope your passion, determination and love to help others will continue for the rest of your life. We have teamed up with one of our sponsors to offer a free Santa Visit at our NON PROFIT Event to a Children’s charity they currently support... We will invite the kids on your behalf to attend our event and see Santa at our Non Profit event. I would like you to be my Extra Special VIP Guest at our next Santa event in Dec, 2013. The Event Planner / Coordinator, Marcia McManus will be assigned to you. So please plan coming again next year. :-) If Andres is nice to you all through the year, he can be my Special Guest too but you need to write me in November 2013 and let me know how his behavior was towards you. Please continue to be good to your Parents, Family and Friends This is my secret email. You now have direct access to Santa, so please do not give it out to too many of your friends. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year With lots of Love - Santa
It was great!!!!!!!!! I was surprised when Santa and miss Santa came out of nowhere from the North Pole to Miami. I had a ton of fun meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus. -Sebastian Ordonez (Oscar Barrero)
It was a magical event, I had fun and the food was good. Mrs. Claus is very pretty. I loved the magician, he was very funny and l liked all the magic tricks. He even let me hold the baby bunny and I was excited. The face painter was very nice and she did a good job. I also liked the background screens and I took lots of pictures. “OMG I have always wanted to see a REAL LIFE Amerijet plane and I got to see it WITH SANTA!!!!” I even got to mail Santa a letter at the Castle, the mailbox was cool. Santa replied to me before Christmas and also sent me some cool pictures from the Event. I especially like the one with Santa standing funny with his leg bent back on the Red Carpet. It made me laugh sooooooooo much. -Makayla (Monica Laboy)

Article Meet and Greet Santa & Mrs. Claus with Pilots & Friends At Amerijet Family Wonderland When I was invited to participate in the Meet and Greet Santa event this year, I thought it would be a great thing for the children of Amerijet employees. It turned out to be a great social opportunity for the employees as well as their children. For flight crew members, it was a chance to “rub elbows” with their “customers” at Amerijet. We are taught in “vision training” that customer service is our main purpose in the life of our employment. Without customers, we have no purpose. Flight crew members never see the actual customer and maybe only see some of the customer’s employees. However, we do our best to service the customer’s needs safely, timely, and legally. We are also taught that another, often overlooked customer, is our internal customers, the people we work with. In airline work, teamwork is essential, and without it we could not survive. It encompasses everything from satisfying the customer to preventing serious accidents. But flight crew members mostly get to only hear about the rest of the team and see very few in person. So, “Meet and Greet Santa” was an opportunity to have a friendly chat with the few fellow team members we get to see as well as meet and put a face on those team mates we have only heard about. Many flight crew members mentioned how nice it was to get to visit and “break bread” with the others at Amerijet they rarely see or never see. And, since flight crews usually work in twos or threes, they had the opportunity to enjoy each other as a group as well. Since our families were there we were able to see each other in a totally different light, and the children were able to see where their parents worked, climb on the airplanes, and meet SANTA CLAUS with Mrs. CLAUS or PILOTS. What a great day! Captain Ed Cook -Chief Pilot

Article Meet and Greet Santa & Mrs. Claus with Pilots & Friends At Amerijet Family Wonderland It was a magical event planned with fine precision and creative planning to give our internal and external customers Star Service and a Special Day. A proud moment in our company’s history that yet again, we continue to evolve collectively to new heights. I have always referred to Amerijet as a force to be reckoned with and I stand by my belief. We fly our customer’s cargo with the utmost concern for service. We enrich our communities in which we serve to include Santa Claus visiting some of our international stations including Trinidad, Guyana, Cancun, Belize, Merida, Kingston, San Salvador, and San Pedro. There are so many people and sponsors who shared in our holiday spirit and made our Miami event so “Spectacular” that words alone simply are not enough. Amerijet message is clear that we have it all with a culture of spreading good will to all. How good is this to be the company who has instilled in their employees to work hard while having fun! Our children throughout the network enjoyed their personalized time with Santa Claus who in MIA was accompanied by Mrs. Claus, Pilots and Friends. A thrill a minute to watch the smiles on our little ones who had the time of their lives watching the projector screen with Santa and Mrs. Claus arrival from the North Pole. Then the ramp access door open and the kids were speechless (for a very brief moment) to see Santa & Mrs. Claus outside. After a Meet and Greet they returned to the air craft and the families enjoyed pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus with their family. Upon our return from the air craft One of my grandkids (Sean) when asked, “Did you give your list to Santa?” He quickly replied, “No. I do not need to do that. I have an IPhone with a direct link to Santa. He knows what I want because we already texted one another”. Janice Ambrosio -Sr. Director Load Control/International Operations
