President Welcome to July, this year is flying by. We have our AGM THIS FRIDAY, the 9th July at the Manningham Hotel in Bulleen. All committee positions become vacant so if you would like to put your hand up and help your club out it is a rewarding learning experience. Please let Vicki know so your interest can be noted. It is always good to have fresh people join with fresh ideas to keep our club moving forward. I would like to thank Kim O’Halloran and her merry team of VERY hard workers for Nissan Nightmoves Rally on 26th June. It was a fun but cold event. I would also like to thank the amazing clean up team the next day, they just got in there and did it and got the job done so quickly and efficiently. Jan was walking around selling beanies for BF7 (Big Freeze No 7 for MND research) that were so warm and much needed on the night, I’m not sure if she still has any left but it’s worth getting one from her if she does. I would like to also thank every one for your support this last year, yes it has been a challenge with covid, meetings being cancelled at the last minute, meetings going ahead without people attending to make a quorum and can I say again covid and a very special thankyou to the committee for their outstanding support over the year. I would love to see lots of people next Friday at the AGM. Bring a friend with you for company on the drive to and from.
Secretary Hi Everyone, Well, here we are at July. Yes, it is time for our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. This will be held on the 9th July at the Manningham Hotel. (Depended upon Government regulations) IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE A QUORUM FOR THIS MEETING. Please come along and join us. I promise that you will NOT be railroaded into being on the Committee. However, having said that, if you would like to join the Committee, please let us know. We are more than happy to have “new blood” join the Committee. We will also endeavour to run the meeting via the Skype connection used for the Friday night drinks meetings that we ran during last year’s lockdowns. On to other topics, congratulations to the Nissan Nightmoves team on running another successful event. I hear it was a great night in the bush. I hope you all stayed warm and dry. I would also like to thank all the Committee members for the time that they have put into the running of the Club over the last very difficult 12 months. It has certainly been an interesting time for us all. (And sadly, I don’t think we are quite through to the other side yet) Well, that’s it from me for this magazine, I look forward to seeing you all later this week.

By the time you happen to browse through this edition of the mag., Nissan Night Moves will have been run and won. It has attracted a great field judging by the amount of entries received. Congats go to Kim and her team for another well run event. I did want to get to the event to play spectator, but alas was unable to get there. Not much happening with my project at present, although I have received back from Crankshaft rebuilders, a reco’d A87 cylinder head with 44 mm inlet valves and 35 mm exhaust valves. Have had my flywheel, clutch and pressure plate balanced as well. Now just waiting for a replacement full gasket kit and then I can get stuck into the engine rebuild. Our Annual General meeting is THIS FRIDAY, would like to see lots of members to hopefully may take on some really rewarding work for our car club, so hope to see you there. Gordon
Editor Not much happening at the moment, much the same as the magazine! We need member input! Went out and competed in Sundays G5 Motorkhana after a year and a half off. Had an awesome time (as you can see behind this text, the car was copping a hiding). No results as of the time of writing, but I can’t imagine placing very well at all. Our AGM is coming up this Friday. For those who can’t make it, please use the link below or at the start of the magazine to have your say in the 2021/2022 Committee. Cheers!

Membership Hi All, It’s been a good month in Membership Land. We hit 320 members and had a few of our new members compete in events which was great to see. The club also ran the Nightmoves Rally which is a big effort in itself, but throw in a lock down and Covid planning as well, it was an amazing job to get it up and running. By all reports the competitors had a ball and so did the officials, I know I did, as did the mob I camped with who were there from mid-week. Try to come along to the AGM if you can, I will re-stand for membership if you’ll have me. Thanks all! Name

First outright and interstate competitor Nathan Quinn / Ray Windwood Smith 2nd O/R Cary Seabrook / Russell Seabrook 4th O/R Roman Woollard / Tom Wright 6th O/R Neil Schey / Scott Middleton 10th O/R Keith Cuttle / Darren Davison 14th O/R navigator Rhiannon Philpot-Hale 15th O/ R Wade Ryan / Trent Brassil 18th O/R navigator Joel Scott 20th O/R Michael Tori / Jamie McIntyre 23rd O/R navigator Michaela Jarvie 24th equal Mark Watson / John Marson 26th O/R navigator Amelia Jarvie 29th O/R Stuart Stevenson/Daniel Stevenson DNF’s: Phil Thomas Glen Scott/Mark Watson Cody Thomas/Matthew Patterson. A well put together event with some new innovations, the new road card setup was well received by all competitors. A big congratulations and thanks to the organising committee and officials. Next round of the VCRS in now Valley Stages on 19th September due to the Moonlight Meander being moved to the 2nd of October. Enjoy the break and we’ll see you all @ Yarra Glen in Septembe.
Motorkhana Hey Guys Since my last report we have had one event. We dragged our cars and ourselves down to Toyota’s headquarters in Altona. Rather than using the usual carpark, we were allowed to use the test track area. An early assembly and extra COVID protocols added to the anticipation and excitement. Because the event is run on bitumen, a whole different crew come out to test their vehicles. There was a great variety of cars competing ranging from Minis to Cressidas to Specials. We had pretty good representation in a variety of classes. The Burchat family of Leigh, Sam and Ben had their Corolla going nicely. It was their first event and they finished with smiles on their faces. A couple of flags and cones felt the brunt of the Corolla, I’ve got a feeling that they will be up to speed quickly. Callum Wright had his MX5 out and about a perfect car for the occasion which was skilfully punted from my standpoint. Mason(Skid kid) and Aiden Peart (Skid Daddy) were bound for glory in the RWD Impreza, though a number of flags hindered that cause. They did manage to put on a show of skid control as well as having a great time. Jarvis Thorpe was again enjoying RWD this time in our 200sx. Clutch kicking and other drift techniques fall onto my deaf ears only thinking about the pain that it causes the vehicle. Andrew Schultz was in his natural element driving the 200sx - possibly quicker than he would have been in the pulsar. Kylie Thorpe who hates thrashing cars was seen smiling and bouncing off the rev limiter but made an unusual for her WD. In the previous round winning Pulsar, Declan, Micah and Lucas Thorpe (that’s me) were laying down the rubber. Micah managed to hit the same flag a few times but drove well, Declan was sending it and loved smoking the tyres. Declan’s best run was met with applause, as we wound Down the windows to let the rubber smoke out as if we were vaping. My day was pretty much uneventful but fun. Now we are waiting for the official results to see who will win this round. The next event is on July 25 back at Toyota Altona - lets see if you guys can get down there and have some fun with us, it would be great to see a 1600 or 180b between the flags

Autocross Hi all, Round 5 was canceled, bloody covid! So nothing to update. Round 6 is being held at Boisdale on the 10th of July. Until next time!
Racing MSCA Come & Try Day The Come & Try Day will be run on Saturday 20 November. To honour our commitment to supporting youth and women to enter grassroots motorsport, we are offering a discounted entry fee for $195 for this group. Our plan is to run a specific junior and women’s group. For MSCA affiliated entrants, the entry fee is also discounted to $245. For all other entrants, the cost is $295. As you’d recall, we were fortunate enough to secure a government grant for this event and this has enabled us to offer this arrangement. In keeping with the spirit of this program, we are clamping down on those entrants who have entered multiple times and those with previous track experience. Entries are now open and numbers are coming in which is terrific to see. We are also asking our instructors to register for the event. MSCA Flag Marshalling team We are calling for additional volunteers for our flag marshalling team. We have a great foundation of around 16 members and to keep this sustainable, we need to get a stable group of at least 20 volunteers. Flaggies do not need to be members of an MSCA car club. We are very happy to have people who are enthusiastic and keen to become involved in our sport. We are also putting the call out to drivers who, for whatever reasons, are not able to commit to a season of sprinting and who are willing to help out and give back to the MSCA. This also extends to committee members. You don’t have to be available for every round; even supporting a couple of events per year helps enormously.
