PRESIDENTS REPORT Lynn Cuttle
Welcome to our September Nissan Link Magazine, Firstly, I would like to say what a great fun time we had at the last catch up where we went to Race Party slot car track and then on to Sofias Pizza for a late dinner. The slot cars had new skills to be learnt to maintain the vehicle on the tracks even though we had able assistants to put them back on the track when the controllers were given a bit too much enthusiasm. You actually have to slow down for the corners. There are other different styles of slot car racing there also, so next time we might try the neon track or maybe the 80’s style mirror balls with disco lights. Something different to look forward to. For our next meeting we have Jackson Evans and Claudia DiGrazia to chat about Finke and their racing. I would love to see lots of faces smiling and backsides on seats so that they have a decent audience. Come a bit early and enjoy dinner. The meetings will be starting at 8.15pm (20:15) so we would love to see you there on Friday 13th September. I would also like to inform our club members that Craig Jarvie has needed to step aside as the CoC for the Western Victorian Crane Truck Yarra Valley Stages. Craig has handed the reigns over to Aidan O’Halloran who as the new CoC who is being assisted by Neil Schey, Kim O’Halloran as well as the rest of the team. Craig had been able to do much of the work and I would like to thank him for everything that he has been able to achieve. If you haven’t already been contacted by Denise Chenhall to official at the Western Victorian Crane Truck Yarra Valley Stages then please contact her and offer your assistance which will make her job a bit easier. Challenge of Club 2020 is coming along nicely so come alone to the next meeting to get a bit more of an update on the proceedings. Remember to bring a friend for company on the drive. This will also bring more people to the meetings. Don’t forget we always have great raffle prizes at the meetings. See you there.
SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi All, Well, we are fast closing in on the end of the year. (where does the time go?) This is the September edition of the NissanLink magazine. Firstly I would like to say, what a BLAST we had at the Slot Car night in August. If you didn’t come along you missed out on so much fun. I am sure there will be pictures further along in the mag. It was full of fun and action packed. Lots of spills and some really unexpected performances. We WILL be doing this again so when you see the date listed, get you name in quick. Coming up at our next meeting on the 13th Sept, we will be having a guest speaker. You will all be surprised by this person. He recently competed in the Fink Desert Rally and has some stories to tell us about the experience. We will also be holding the presentation of awards for the Nissan Nightmoves. Now approaching quickly is the Yarra Valley Stages. This event is a VRC/VCRS event run by our Craig Jarvie and his more than capable team. However, they do need more officals for the event to run smoothly. If you can help out on the day, please let them know as soon as you can. Jan and her able assistant have the Christmas BBQ well in the planning stage. Don’t forget to drop her a quick line or call and let her know you are coming along for the day. (and how many little members) Santa needs a head count too!
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . Hey NCCA land, How fast is this year flying by, September already! With September comes the start of hopefully some warmer weather and the pickup in all sorts of events, from rallying to motorkhanas. Make sure you read all of our secretaries reports to keep up to date with the latest events. If you have attended an event lately we would also love to hear about it in the magazine. We are always looking to share the competitors and even spectator’s stories, they make for some of the best reading! Our last club night was a huge success at race party in Camberwell. Slot cars and NCCA member’s makes for one competitive and fun night. Read all about it in our wrap on the night further on. Our next club night will be at the Manningham in Bulleen on Friday 13th September. This club night will be another great one with a few exciting event happening! Firstly we have a guest speaker to tell us all about his motorsport adventures in the form of Jackson Evans. Secondly we will be awarding the trophies from the Nissan Nightmoves to all the well-deserved winners! And last but not least we will have a chance to catch up with all you fellow club members and share an amazing meal and a well-deserved Friday night beverage. Be sure to make it to this event as it will be a busy and exciting one. Lastly don’t forget to start making plans to attend the Nissan car club Christmas BBQ! Location still to be determined but will keep you up to date with details as we confirm them. On a personal note Cary Seabrook and I are taking up a challenge in September called Steptember. If you haven’t heard of it from Tuesday, 3 September we are taking on the challenge of completing 10,000 steps a day, for the entire month of September to raise vital funds for Cerebral Palsy Alliance. The average office worker only takes around 3,000 steps per day, so 10,000 steps a day will be quite the challenge, for me anyway. But it is for a very worthy cause. Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. One in two people with cerebral palsy are in chronic pain due to the tightening of their muscles. Many will never be able to take a single step without assistance. We are doing this in a team of 4 called the champagne walkers. Our team includes Cary, me and 2 of the lovely ladies I work with, Amy and Jana. We are all not only doing this to help support a worthy cause but to promote a healthier lifestyle and hopefully fit back into my driving suit in no time. Bank Balance as at 25/08/2019 $45390.75 Quite a balance due largely to Valley Stages deposits pouring in. An Excellent night was held recently at a Slot Car facility in Camberwell, a very entertaining evening was had by all. Congratulations to the winners whilst Aiden and myself came in second. A great night. As I mentioned previously, deposits for Valley Stages are pouring in and it looks like a very good field so far. Our next monthly meet is Friday 13Th September, a very lucky night for some. VALE – JOHN MASON I have been extremely blessed by having been introduced to a man I considered a mentor, a friend and someone I looked up to. Our paths came together not long after I purchased my almost Rally prepared 180B SSS. John help solve an ongoing part performance issue that the SSS had. It was a bent needle on the rear SU type carby. The SSS was not a world beater, but she is mine and I am enjoying driving her. Not long after joining NCCA, myself and Karen completed our scrutineering school together and a new evolution began in our motor sport activities. John became a mentor to me as my scrutineering skills developed. This also led to a long friendship that I cherish with John’s family. Not only did I scrutineer at V8 supercar level, I took part in club activities as well. There was a brief time spent with super carts and found them to as exciting as other events. I will miss this man, will keep a healthy contact with Annette as I continue my motor sport journey. My condolences go to Annette, Steve and Mathew as we all grieve the loss of a person I am proud to call friend, mentor and scrutineer partner.

Hi All, I want to start off by saying well done to the committee to getting their articles in on time, it was great to see everyone doing their bit for the magazine, keep it up. We’ve got a few more special reports this month, but i’d still like more. So if any members have any ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact me and i’ll work with you! We have had a member who is keen to get some 4x4 trips up and running. Attatched to the email that this magazine was sent in (if you receieve e-mailed copies) is an online form that you can fill out to show your interest levels and desires from a 4x4 trip. I went to Eureka to film alongside BlendLine TV for the Victorian Rally Championship, and as usual had a ball. The LandCruiser was very tough and braved a road closure with us, and carried all the bags associated with a whole lot of camera equipment. Full footage can be found on the Victorian Rally Championship Facebook page. **Just a reminder to everyone that articles are due on the 25th of every month, and they’re published on the 30th of every month.**
RALLY REPORT Leonie Clark
Hey Members, At the submission of this article, the 2019 Pedders Eureka Rush has been run and won (provisionally) with two of our members in the top three placings. Daniel Brkic was first co-driver back alongside driver Arron Windus to be a whopping 4 minutes and 44.1 second quicker than second place. Congratulations guys! And another congrats goes to Ivan Regester, who alongside his co-driver Paul Humm came in at an impressive 3rd place which was was made even more impressive by the fact it was their first time out in a new WRX! It sure was an incredible event. Unfortunately, we had a steam trains and local festivals on over the weekend which kept the Clark’s close to home but from the previous years we have been officialling at the Pedders Eureka Rush, there were always surprises at every turn and I’m sure all the crews would have come across them too. Honourable mentions go to Steve Porter and Tony Robinson, Darren Windus and Joe Brkic, and Ian Martin and Shawn Urquhart, watching the live feeds from the VicRally facebook page, we felt your highs and commiserated at your lows. You all should be proud, you got the cars out there and, for the most part had some fun even though you would have been shivering in that arctic wind. The next VCRS event is the 2019 Western Victorian Crane Trucks Valley Stages. This will be one not to be missed with the event scheduled for Sunday 22nd September and a special shakedown and sponsor ride on the Friday beforehand. VRC and VCRS entries close at 5pm Sunday 8th September. In order for us to have exciting events such as this, we need the help of Officials. It’s because of people like you that we’re able to run on some of the best shire roads/tracks in Victoria and we need your help now. If you’re able to run a road-closure, start/finish control or curious about what you can do to help, please contact Denise Chenhall (Officials Coordinator) on 0417 015 792 or by email wdeals@bigpond.com.au if you have never been an official before, let her know and she will look after you. As this is a scheduled day only event, all officials are expected to clear the forest at around 5-5.30pm so you should be home in time for dinner .

Hi all! Welcome aboard the August lookback edition of the Autocross article. Rightio, we have two events to talk about this time along. Round 5 was held on the 27th of July, run by Maffra And District Car Club out at Boisdale. It was an awesome day for all, except Shannon Seabrook who decided it was his turn to roll his car out at Maffra! with a full field of 120 entries it made for a good day overall Results, are you could say hard to make out.. so here’s a quick summary of positions Cary Seabrook 1st NCCA Russell Seabrook 2nd NCCA Tim Clark 3rd NCCA Joel Scott 4th NCCA Glenn Scott 5th NCCA Evelyn Epted 6th NCCA Now for Round 6 Round 6 was held at Kyenton, Run by Kyenton Car Club on the 18th August. Again a full field! VCAS has been filling out at most events this year. The event was running like clock work for three runs untill mother nature stepped in and dropped what seemed like an inch of water onto us all. We all got 1 very wet run in but they were all around 10 seconds slower on average for all. Time for the results. Hey all, There have been no Group 5 motorkhanas during August. The next G5 event will be a khanacross held at the Geelong Motorsports Complex, Avalon on September 15th. Also, during the upcoming school holidays is the Australian Motorkhana Championship, held at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th of October.
