SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi Everyone, Well another month of lockdown has gone by, hopefully only another month to go and we may be able to get out and about again. (I’m not holding my breath). Absolutely nothing has been happening locally in the motorsport arena. We are hoping that the lockdown is eased off sooner rather than later. The Yarra Valley Stages is still being worked on and will run as a multi-club event. Keep you eyes open for further details. Well there is not much else to write about this month, so until the next time Stay safe

VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . ** Editors words** Hey guys, It’s a food month again this month, so enjoy the next couple of pages. What could our recipe? Crestaceans ? Gravel Granola? Next 2 pages! - Mason.

blind crest banana bread

vice president.

The directions Preheat your oven to 177°C Grease a loaf pan and line with baking paper In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl mix together the butter and both sugars with an electric mixer for 4-5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Mix in the eggs and vanilla, making sure to mix well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add in the mashed banana and mix until fully combined. Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture and mix until just combined. Gently stir in the chopped walnuts. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread so the top is even. Bake at 177°C for 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Carefully remove and let cool on wire rack. Serve with butter while warm. Great toasted the next day for breakfast also!

TREASURERS REPORT Gordon Ledwidge

Bank Balance as at 25th August 2020: $29083.68 Thanks to all the renewing and new members keeping us in a healthy position in this time of stage 4 lockdown. I have been stood down for 6 weeks as from 10th August, been slowly working on my SSS as she starts to come back to life. Have had some setbacks, but necessity is the motor of invention and have solved some issues. I should have some photos to show her progress soon. She still sits up on stands so I can concentrate on the suspension and brake upgrade. New interior in black looks real good. Replacing heater hoses is a challenge, but not impossible. Please stay safe in this lock down period and we all look forward to return to some sort of normality at some point of time. Do look forward to some sort of participation in motorsport, having withdrawal symptoms.

See you at the next meeting

EDITORS REPORT Mason Peart

Hey all! Good to be back in the regular magazine way of life. Thanks to everyone that submitted their articles. Hopefully we can stay in this format from now on. I’ve been keeping busy doing a lot of promotional work for Northern College of the Arts and Technology helping to get people to the online information nights. This is why the magazine was a couple of days later for my online friends, and who knows how much later for my postal friends ! That’s about it for the moment. Mason.

RALLY REPORT John Patterson

** Editors words **

The planning for Western Victorian Crane Trucks Valley Stages is well underway. Entries are open now (click / tap form icon below.)

This is set to be an absolutely fantastic event, and is one of just two rallies being run this year in Victoria.

Mason Peart Media has also been locked in for the coverage of the event, covering the whole field which looks likely to crack 60 + cars.

Thanks primarily to Arron Windus and NCCA member Daniel Brkic, Valley Stages has become an event seen by well over 1 million people worldwide.

MOTORKHANA REPORT Lucas Thorpe

Hi Guys! I hope you are all enjoying lockdown. I have been trolling eBay and the marketplace looking for the next Nissan bargain that I won’t be able to collect. In the meantime sunning myself in front of the open fire surrounded by my loyal subjects (dog and cat) dreaming of what the future may hold - if there is one. Now this is the moment that you’ve all been waiting for. The how to do Motorkhana. Feel free to hand this list to your Grandma or wife’s Uncles Brothers Daughter in order for them to plan their assult on the NCCA Motorkhana championship. I’m sure that I’ve missed something but I’m always happy to add some additional dot points that we can include in our motorkhana preparation guide. Join Nissan Car Club Australia (unlimited amount of time before event) Purchase a car (probably 3 years before event). If you don’t want to purchase a car then procure a job that supplies a car. Alternatively, you could try rent a bomb for a fun day out or befriend someone stupid enough to let you drive their car. Things to check when buying a car: - Decide on a budget and multiply it by a factor of 4. Then work out how much your first born might be worth and add these two numbers together- that’s how much you will probably end up spending. - If you’re looking at buying brand new - don’t. KIA does have a 7 year warranty but it most likely doesn’t cover Motorkhana. - Check if it is on the written off vehicle register - if it is this one could be the perfect candidate. - See if the brakes work. You can do this the night before an event when putting vehicle onto trailer - it is also worth checking after you install a fire extinguisher that the brakes still work. - Check if it runs (if it doesn’t run, let’s face it - your gonna put this one back on the market once it’s killed all the grass in your backyard so you can buy a new lawnmower) - Don’t be tempted by fruit - mag wheels, big turbos and spoilers all look good in the dark but when you wake up in the morning and see them in the daylight you will regret this lifelong decision. Go to event Enter the event (yes you can enter on the day in non COVID times) Send the car to scrutiny with the kids or your dumb mate (they will go easier on them) Fix the issues found in scrutiny (this is where tec screws, gaffa tape, cable ties and just a cry for help might be necessary). Whilst securing the battery (as detected in scrutiny) you can check your car has oil (you can also wait until the engine starts knocking or the oil light comes on for this) the bonnet can now be locked shut. Check your tyre pressure and tread condition. You don’t really need to do this now you can wait until you break the tyre bead before you borrow a pump off someone. Don’t worry about tread condition - you can check that on the track if you’ve got grip that’s a good thing if not enjoy the rev limiter. Mentally prepare yourself to have fun Mentally prepare yourself to finish last. Any better than that is a bonus.

Next month - I’ve got a treat for you Motorkhana catering with Micah’s famous “pulled pork” burger recipe and an in-depth driver profile survey so you can identify what sort of driver you or your opposition are. See you out of iso – fingers crossed.

AUTOCROSS REPORT Russell Seabrook

Hey all, nothing exciting happening Autocross wise 2020 for vic still.. for a quick fix have a look at our other states to see what they’re up to! Not nearly as good as the VCAS series of course.

2019 series results were being held until we could have a presentation at a round while everyone had their lunch, but some were too keen to find out the results a little earlier. NCCA took 1st place overall in 2019 in a smashing win with 239 points overall. Congratulations to Cary for pulling 3rd outright overall. I am looking forward to seeing you all soon enough.
