Woman for EFF premier Malema urges members to rally behind Makhesini

} Teboho Setena JULIUS MALEMA, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), appealed to party members to rally behind the premier candidate elect for the Free State, Mandisa Makhesini. The former member of the ruling party in the Lejweleputswa region was introduced at Saturday’s election rally held in Welkom. Malema said Makhesini was the only woman in South Africa chosen by members for this important position. “We must support our premier candidate and those elected to represent the EFF in the Free State Legislature. She is special because she is the only woman elected by members to represent us. She must be supported and protected against the ‘pull-her-down syndrome’. “She is one of the members who have been with us from the beginning and has never looked back. I have confidence in her and that she will represent us and you, the people, well in the Free State. “I’m happy and so is the national leadership of the EFF with the support we are receiving from the masses in the Free State,” said Malema. “The firing of civil servants who are not ANC members is going to stop and we are going to challenge it. “The EFF is a home to all, it is the hope of the hopeless and we are going to fight and make history. “The struggle continues and our members are ready to fight. “We are going to hold the Free State ANC-led government under Elias ‘Ace’ Magashule accountable,” said a fired-up Makhesini. “The state of the province is deteriorating. If we were to sell the many potholes in our roads and poor sanitation we certainly would be rich. “What happened to the R36 million that was budgeted for development in Lejweleputswa and the R4 million for the renovation of the Phakisa Raceway? Until today this money has not been accounted for. “The misuse of state funds meant to create jobs and better the lives of the poor will be a thing of the past. “Millions went missing and corrupt

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail IT often strikes me as strange how many of us are so organised and diligent when it comes to studying at school or performing well at work, yet we are so terrible at excelling at the most important thing of all – our lives! Let me give you an example. Most of us know the value of planning at our workplaces. In fact, we are probably very good at it and maybe even take the lead in planning at work. We make plans as to what we want to achieve during a certain period, we analyse our strengths, weaknesses, oppor-

My View Thabo Mosole Life Coach tunities and threats; we make strategic plans and implementation plans and budgets and lots of other things.

It’s boring work at times, but we do it anyway because we know that without these plans our companies or organisations would fail to achieve good results. Then we knock off and go home, and unfortunately somehow leave our brains at work. What we do at work doesn’t seem to apply anymore, we just lay back and hope for a better life to magically appear. No plans. No timeframes. No budget. No targets. No written goals. It is no wonder so many are brilliant at their careers and yet miserable failures when it comes to their personal lives. We do not apply our

knowledge and expertise to our own lives. Pay attention to your life. You must plan your life with much more care and attention than you would plan your business and your work. Stop living by waiting on chance and luck to make you happy, rich or healthy. If most of us put just half the effort we put into our jobs into planning our lives we would be amazed at the difference that would make. You can take that first step of creating the life you want right now. Follow Thabo Mosole @Thabolusion.

Try your luck, buy your ticket } Sidwell Guduka THE Lotto jackpot will be R40 million on Saturday, says Gidani, the National Lottery operator. This is one of the largest jackpots in the lottery’s history which turned 14 on 1 March, and thousands of players are expected to queue at Lotto sales points across the country to stand a chance to win the jackpot. According to Duduzile Ndendwa, spokesperson for Gidani, her company declared March 2014 as a significant month and offered an amazing R70 million in guaranteed jackpots. “The National Lottery bonanza-packed birthday month has never been better. The guaranteed jackpot on 1 March of R10 million rolled over, only for a lucky KwaZulu-Natal winner to snatch the estimated jackpot of R12,1 million in the draw on Wednesday, 5 March. “15 March’s staggering R20 million guaranteed jackpot also rolled over to more than R21 million on 19 March, and it was won by one fortunate winner in Gauteng,” Ndendwa says. “This Saturday, a phenomenal R40 million guaranteed jackpot, is up for grabs,” she adds, urging people to buy tickets as early as possible to avoid queues.

‘Come back to us’ } Tladi Moloi “YOU must go and burn that red beret. Your mother wouldn’t be happy that you are wearing that. She was a real warrior of the ANC.” These were the words of Sisi Ntombela, MEC for Social Development, to Motlalepule Lephoto (26) from Ficksburg who has joined the newly formed Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Ntombela urged Lephoto to come back to the ANC, stating that the party needed him. She said Lephoto’s mother, a former provincial executive committee member, would turn in her grave if he wore the red colours of the EFF. Lephoto’s mother, Mafusi Lehalehale, was also a speaker of the Setsoto Municipality. She died in 2004. “This child joined the EFF with a false hope that he will be employed. I call him back because the ANC is where he belongs,” Ntombela said. She was in tears as she pleaded with Tjhetane Mofokeng, executive mayor of the Dihlabeng Municipality, to give Lephoto a job. She spoke at the election campaign of the ANC Women’s League at the new Bohlokong Hall, Bethlehem. “Tjhetane, please do something for this child. His mother was a true warrior of this

party. We have talked to the Setsoto Municipality on several occasions but they did not listen. Even if he has to sweep the street, let it be. We want this child. Please, my mayor: Save the only child of Mafusi,” she said in tears. Ntombela gave R6 702 that she had collected from the members of the ANCWL as a donation. Lephoto said he had joined the EFF last year with the hope to get a job. “I thought the EFF would be the answer to my problem. Yes, my mother was a die-hard member of the ANC, but I was left in no-man’s land after she passed away,” he said. He said since he had joined the EFF he had never been hungry like he has been with the ANC. Lephoto said the MEC had called him and asked to meet with him in Bethlehem. He thought the reason why Ntombela called him was because maybe she had been realised that he was not happy where he was. Lephoto said he was happy with what the MEC had done for him, adding that this gesture showed that they still remembered his mother. “I am coming back to the ANC and I will make sure that I call all my friends back,” he concluded. ) Visit express-news.co.za for pictures.

Messages analysed A DATA ANALYST of the police found four messages out of 1 709 between murderaccused Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp which could indicate an argument, the North Gauteng High Court heard on Tuesday. The state alleges Pistorius shot dead his girlfriend, Steenkamp, during a row in the early hours of 14 February 2013. It disputes his version that he thought he was shooting an intruder in the bathroom of his house. Pistorius has been charged with the premeditated murder of Steenkamp and of contravening the Firearms Control Act. He allegedly fired a shot under a table at a Johannesburg restaurant in January 2013. On 30 September 2012 he allegedly shot through the open sunroof of a car with his 9 mm pistol while driving with friends in Modderfontein. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. – News24

Employment the aim of challenge THE second annual official launch of the Free State enterPRIZE Job Creation Challenge was held last week at the Windmill Casino and Entertainment Centre in Bloemfontein. This exciting competition is aimed at job creation through the development of small and medium enterprises in the Free State. The competition, which is a partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DETEA), the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) and the Flemish International Cooperation Agency (FICA), will see contestants compete to win one of 75 prizes totalling R7,5 million. This year’s challenge will be offering a combination of financial support and technical assistance, along with business management coaching and mentorship which will be valuable for entrepreneurs experiencing difficulties in obtaining funding. Furthermore, sponsors including Nedbank, Microsoft, Deloitte, Blue Pencil, Microsoft Bizpark, Free State Agriculture, PETCO, Gramercy Millennium Group, Development Franchising, Sport for All, PVC, New Africa, University of the Free State, the Free State Central University of Technology, Inobits and ViGO will be providing tailor made prizes to category winners. ‘Doctor’ hungry for boxing title } Teboho Setena THE Free State boxing golden boy Themba “Doctor” Ntsele set his sights on annexing the vacant World Boxing Association Pan-African title to add to his prestigious titles. He boasts of the World Boxing Federation (WBF) flyweight crown which he won and defended last year. The dynamic Ntsele has been pitted against relatively new opponent Makazole Tete in his quest to clinch the prestigious WBA Pan-African title. The intriguing bout is scheduled to take place in East London on Sunday. They will go head-to-head through 12 rounds to clinch the vacant Pan-African championship. Ntsele heads to East London in the Eastern Cape under tremendous pressure to face a hostile crowd. He has emerged from the town with mixed fortunes. Ntsele controversially lost his South African title there in December 2013 and he plotted major coups at the very same town in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Ntsele is currently ranked number one in Boxing South Africa’s flyweight division and his opponent Tete is third. Born and bred in the Goldfields town of Welkom, Ntsele successfully defended his South African crown four times before the controversial loss to current champion Lwandile Sityatha. He won the WBF title within distance when he knocked Xola Sifama out in the ninth round of the bout’s scheduled 12 rounds early last year. Ntsele has seen off most of his opponents via a knockout – 13 out of his 20 wins. The 27-year-old Ntsele has lost four fights and drawn one fight since he had turned professional in 2005. He has fougth 25 fights

to date. Ntsele was in the ringside last October when he convincingly defended his WBF title against hometown boy Matswaki Moselesele. “I have been sharpening myself for any bout since then. I won’t underestimate my opponent,” he said. Ntsele has been training at the Free State Sports Science Institute High-Performance Centre in Bloemfontein. “I’m very thankful to the centre’s management for allowing me to prepare at the institute. I feel the impact of training at the high-performance institute. It is now upon me to deliver,” said Ntsele.

Forgiveness sets us free from anger } Pastor Moise Mutombo Kumwimba MANY Christians are dwelling in the disappointment, betrayal, pain and hurt of yesterday because they cannot forgive. Their present time becomes too hard and bitter to enjoy and therefore their future becomes unclear because of their offenders. Forgiveness helps us reconcile, not only with our offenders, but also with ourselves. It releases us from the destructive emotions of anger and bitterness. Matthew 5:23 Forgiveness should first flow from our hearts toward each other before it can flow from God’s heart to us. Being unable to forgive will disrupt our divine communication with God. This is one of the reasons the answers to many people’s prayers are being delayed. You can fast and pray or even do all the articles of faith but without forgiveness your prayers will never reach God. A person who does not forgive, shows he has not understood or benefited from God’s forgiveness. Unless we do not care

about our communication with God, Matthew 5:23 gives us no other option but to forgive. If we fail to forgive others, we will always doubt God’s forgiveness towards us and this will bring a false awareness of being rejected by God, because God will not answer an unforgiving heart. Forgiveness is one of the most difficult things to do but once Jesus is involved, it becomes easier. Jesus will help you carry the load: He will take your load away and give you rest in Him. Now forgive and be forgiven in Jesus’ name. ) To hear more and learn more, please visit us at The New Horizon Ministry at the Joe Solomon Primary School in Heidedal every Sunday from 09:00. SMS your prayer requests to 071-214-9404. Remember to come in faith. Jesus is the only compassionate Healer and deliverer the earth had ever seen. God bless you.

Take care of your feet

PODIATRY is the management of diseases and disorders of the lower limbs. The key role of a podiatrist is maintaining a patient’s mobility and independence. Podiatrists treat a complex range of conditions using a variety of techniques to manage painful foot conditions and often have the ability to provide immediate pain relief. These foot health specialists are trained in a complex range of skills that can be used to manage many conditions using local anesthetics to provide pain-free management of painful foot conditions, managing painful nail conditions either through the use of traditional skills or prescribing appropriate anti-fungal agents managing and advising on a range of dermatological conditions ranging from warts, corns and calluses, athlete’s foot and ulcers, diagnosing walking or running problems, sport injuries and manufacturing corrective devices for shoes (orthotics) and managing the results of chronic conditions that produce foot deformities and dysfunction, such as rheumatoid arthritis, or conditions that lead to inadequate blood supply to the foot and impaired sensation, such as diabetes. A podiatrist is professionally trained to deliver medical attention explicitly of the foot and ankle. Education plays an important part of the multi-disciplinary approach, which includes your doctor, specialist, dietician and podiatrist. Diabetic foot complications can lead to amputation of the legs or feet if not managed appropriately and in some instances death. Foot-related complications associated with diabetes are mainly around dysfunction of the nervous and blood systems. Inspect your feet daily, including the areas between your toes and visit your podiatrist regularly.

Kaizer Chiefs still have hope

Lots at stake in finals

must think again. “I was involved in a game in Sweden where we reversed a 5-3 score line against Galatasaray by beating them 5-1 at home. Football is a funny game.” The second leg of the tie will take place on Saturday at 19:00 in the FNB Stadium where the Glamour Boys will look to salvage their hopes of “living the African dream”.

STUART BAXTER, Kaizer Chiefs coach, has insisted that his side have not given up hope, despite losing 3-0 in the first leg of their latest CAF Champions League game. The Amakhosi succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to AS Vita in Kinshasa, DRC, this past weekend after they had missed a number of chances to get back into the game. However, Baxter said that the scoreline was not irreversible, but admitted that it was disappointing to miss so many chances. Speaking on Chiefs’ official website, their head coach said: “The game was level at the start and by the time they scored their first chance we had created about two chances already. “Even after they had scored their first goal it was still an even game. “When they scored the third we had to prevent another goal which would have killed the game. Still we had two big chances that we couldn’t convert. We’ll have to hit them with an early goal at home to get back into the game. “We lost 3-0 and as we have said earlier, with a two-legged game, this is the first half. } Sidwell Guduka THIS year’s Danone Nations Cup Provincial Finals will be held at the Clive Solomon Stadium in Bloemfontein on 12 April. The team to emerge as the winner at the end of the provincial finals will represent the Free State at the Danone Nations Cup National Finals later in the year and will stand a chance to win a trip overseas, if they go all out to be crowned the overall champions. The overall winners of the tournament will represent South Africa at the Danone Nations Cup World Finals in Brazil towards the end of the year. The Matswathaka Primary School in Bethlehem are the winners of the Dihlabeng cluster. According to Charles Mokoena, team manager, his school could well go all the way to the national finals – even be the team to represent the country at the world final in South America. “This is an important tournament on our school calendar. So, we have put together an exceptional team that will compete for the national championship. Apart from two players who were part of the team, the entire group is new, and I can already see they have the potential to be crowned the provincial winners,” Mokoena says. Matswathaka won every game at cluster level this year, but Mokoena is aware that his team will have to double the effort to make it past the next round. “I am excited and feel proud of my team. We have already scored nine goals, as opposed to five in the entire season last year. “However, we might be a step closer to our goal of playing in the national finals, but the next phase is to compete against other cluster winners in the regional finals which will not be easy. So, the competition is getting tougher,” he says.

I get regular game time, week in and week out, in what I believe is a very competitive and the best league in Afri c a .” – G a b a d i n h o Mhango, Bloemfontein Celtic hitman

Coach gets credit Mhango says Middendorp is reason for success } Sidwell Guduka

GABADINHO MHANGO, the Bloemfontein Celtic hitman, believes that coach Ernst Middendorp is responsible for his recent goal-scoring prowess. The striker arrived at Phunya Sele Sele from Big Bullets FC of Malawi last August and he launched his professional career in South Africa on a high note – scoring a 90th minute goal in his debut against Moroka Swallows in Bloemfontein on 22 October. Since then the Malawian has hit seven league goals and two Nedbank Cup goals. The 21-year-old credits his fine form to Middendorp, who also made his Celtic coaching debut on the same day as Mhango. “I am in a good moment, in good form and you can see that on the pitch,” Mhango tells Express. “I am obviously enjoying my football at Celtic and the team are doing really well, currently lying eighth on the table. The most important issue for me is that I get regular game time, week in and week out, in what I believe is a very competitive and the best league the African continent,” he says. “I attribute my good form to Coach Middendorp. He knows how to get the best out of me, how to realise my potential. He is a very passionate coach in everything he does. He has very clear concepts of how he wants to manage the team and gives us a lot of intensity,” the Malawian says. Middendorp’s impact has been felt across the board. Since the beginning of the year Celtic have only lost once in 11 matches against Kaizer Chiefs. They won six and drew four of those games. “The message is effort and that we are a whole and we do everything together in terms of attack and defence. “The most important thing is that every one of us does his best so that we can finish the league in the third or fourth spot. He has instilled in us the energy we needed,” Mhango explains. The pint-sized striker hopes to increase

his scoring tally when Celtic welcome Amazulu to the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo on Sunday at 15:30. However, despite the rave reviews the 21-year-old has

received he admits there is plenty of room for improvement – particularly in front of the goal. “My goalscoring, for sure. Sometimes my

positioning is not the best and I need to improve that to score more goals.” ) For more sports stories, visit www.express-news.co.za or expresspaper.mobi.
