VICE PRESIDENT J O R D A N

Key Club officers pose for a group photo to be featured on NCKC’s website, nchskeyclub.com.

Hey everyone! Make sure to check out our new District Project, Conversation on Conservation! Conversation on Conservation is a project that is focused on maintaining, protecting, and improving our communities. It will focus on water, deforestation, and pollution. Your first task for “The Conversation on Conservation” is a local task. This task involves improving your community by cutting back on unnecessary indulgences and promoting growth of environmental awareness in your community. Also, make sure to stay active in Key Club! I’m really thankful that we have so many new members this year because having more members means getting to impact the community in a more meaningful way! You’re awesome.

Yours in service,

HARVEST FEST Some volunteers were assigned the Cake Walk in which kids were allowed to make rounds around the chair until the one in charge said stop, then the one with the number called is the winner of a prize. The kids genuinely enjoyed the game and were so happy to receive delicious prizes such as cupcakes and candy. Other volunteers were dispersed to the registration booths and vendors. The event originally was created to be outdoors, but due to the rain, it was moved indoors. However, the rain didn't stop the festivities and excitement as families from different communities joined together for the Halloween celebrations. North Crowley Key Clubbers arrived at noon to help set up. First, the volunteers checked in with the organizers, then were assigned to package bags with candy,

BARNES & NOBLE STORYTIME pieces for the kids to glue on to the toilet paper rolls. It was tedious but very fun making the templates we wanted to use. From 10-11 we always work on making a craft for the children and picking out books. The books we picked had to be Halloween themed, the same as our craft, because the Barnes n nobles story time theme was Halloween. Halloween Barnes n Nobles My name is Jordan Peyton and I am one of the North Crowley Key Club Vice Presidents. Recently I went to one of the Barnes n Nobles events that happens every Saturday from 10-12. It was so much fun! We haven't gotten to make an actual interactive activity for the kids in ages so it was really fun trying to figure out what to make for the kids. On Halloween day a bunch of members came to help us out at Barnes n Nobles. We all had something to do and coming together to create a craft was one of my most favorite parts of Barnes n Nobles. We decided to use toilet paper rolls and make little Frankensteins, jack o'lanterns and ghosts with the kids.

At 11 we had a couple kids show up to hear us read to them. We had the members who dressed up read to the kids and it really looked like they had a fun time! Not only were our members having fun with the kids, reading and helping them with crafts. We also had our immediate past LTG of 1S south up and help All of us had to cut out so many us out, An Bui.

President Daisy Doan helps a child with her jack-o-lantern craft at Barnes and Noble Storytime for Halloween.

I got to see how much the members looked up to her. As someone who had graduated and was in key club for a long time with a high position, it was a honor for the members to get to talk to her and learn so much. They saw that even though you have graduated and moved past key club you are always warmly welcomed back! I really want to continue to encour-

age our members to keep on going to Barnes n nobles story time every Saturday. Barnes n nobles has given us an amazing opportunity to read to kids every Saturday and I look forward to continuing working together with them. I hope our members always learn how to have fun with what they're doing, increasing their creativity and learning to love what they do.

MUMS AND GARTERS classroom, we could see that each student was full of so much joy when they noticed that we were all holding mums and garters that were made especially for them. When I saw how happy each student appeared, I was so overjoyed by their huge smiles. It felt great to know that they would be included in the festivities for homecoming week. HALLOWEEN PCM

Article By: Lexi Cepak

On Saturday, October 31st, Halloween, I attended Vanessa’s Presidential Council Meeting and Halloween Party. When I walked in the door, I was greeted by excited Key Clubbers dressed in festive clothing. We sat down and made cards for sick children at hospitals for Christmas and listened to Christmas music while waiting for the meeting to start. It was a great way to start off the night because I got to catch up with Jordan, Vanessa, and Sara. The PCM started shortly after Daisy arrived. We moved to Vanessa’s living room, where we started the meeting with the Key Club pledge. Next, we held our contest costume. My friend, David Correa, a Key Club member, won first place for his amazing costume. He was Grell from Black Butler. He won a Starbucks gift card, which was really nice of Vanessa to give. I won second place for my Harley Quinn costume and got candy. It was nice because I just dressed up for fun and wasn’t expecting to win anything.

Vanessa had a lot of information to give us at the PCM. She told us that Presidential Council Meetings would now be called Divisional Council Meetings because it sounded more inclusive. She went over all of the upcoming events, and then we got to eat pizza and party.

Everyone brought food, so it was really fun. I ate pumpkin-shaped cookies and pizza on a festive, Frankenstein plate while socializing with Key Clubbers from my club and from other schools. It was a little confusing, however, because there were two guys named David. After we finished eating, we took a group picture where we all showed off our amazing costumes. We got in a line and all posed with our hands on our hips. It was super fun. After that, some people went home while others stayed at Vanessa’s for a Halloweenthemed movie. It was a really strange horror movie about a guy that was told he killed his wife and children. It wasn’t very scary, but I still had a good time with my friends. Overall, Vanessa’s Halloween party was awesome. I had a great time hanging out with fellow Key Clubbers. I can’t wait to go to Vanessa’s next themed meeting, her Christmas party. I hope more people show up because I had lots of fun meeting other people from our region and having a good time.

GREENBRIAR FALL FESTIVAL

Article By: Vincent Berardi

A few weeks ago, I went with many Key Clubbers to the Greenbriar Festival being held at the gym of a community center. Jordan and I manned the concessions table along with two adults, while the others manned the photo booths and many activity stations. The festival had a great turnout, with many people of all ages and background arriving to simply have fun at this vibrant Halloween themed carnival, orange and black decorations all about.

piece of the puzzle was community service.

As the event winded down and vibe of the party settled, you could see the satisfaction and enjoyment everyone had as they walked out the door, giving a handshake as honest as their gratitude. The festival was a success, and I was more than happy to have contributed to such a wonderful conclusion. This really showed me how active Key Club truly is in our community, we are present in many fauInitially I was a bit nervous, I wasn't cets of life, there to serve when needed. HANGMAN’S HOUSE OF “monster mom” took us to our designated room, where we were to scare people. It was a mirror room. At first, we bumped into all of the mirrors because the strobe lights made it really confusing. After a while, we learned our way around. Eventually, we couldn’t even tell that the strobe lights were flashing because we were so used to them. Our job was to mislead people and waste their time, which was something we In October, I attended Hangman’s House of Horrors with my friend David. I was really excited to get to volunteer at Hangman’s because I didn’t get to participate during my sophomore year, but my experience last year was amazing.
