GET THE HELP YOU NEED
It's the End of the Year Everyone, Christmas is almost upon us and Family Programs is very busy "wrapping up" the end of the year. We've had an exciting year filled with a variety of events, we've created and expanded programs and assisted many military Families. In fact, this year, we've had over 7,800 communications with our Service members and their Families. We've also had approximately 650 legal assistance cases and there are hundreds who've reached out to us on family issues (i.e. communication, property/household, youth issues and finances). Our Community Outreach and resources data show that we've served thousands already and the year is not over yet. Each day we learn something new, and it's a continual learning process for us and you, as the North Carolina National Guard goes through the military life cycle. While we have certainly had our tough and painful moments this year, we have had our joys, as well. The important fact is that we continue to keep going together. We want you to know that we are always here for you. I speak on behalf of all of our Family Program team, if we don't know the answer, we will do our best to find it or point you to the person/program/resource that does. This past year, we've grown our Strong Bonds program, we continued our Kids on Guard Program, the Legal Assistance program is in place and our Family Assistance Centers continue to be stationary across the State. In late November, we established our Triangle Teen Council and early next year we will be expanding to the other regions. So, please keep your eyes and ears open. We'll need some of our great Teens to assist us. We hope that you are enjoying the holidays and that you will have a wonderful Christmas with your Families. We'll be working through the Holidays to provide gifts and food to our Families in need. So, if you know of someone in need of assistance, please contact one our Family Assistance Center Representatives. We'll be back in January with a list of our Strong Bonds event dates and, we'll be bringing you all the resources and information that we can to fully support you as our North Carolina National Guard Family. We, in Family Programs, want to wish you a Merry Christmas and very happy New Year. I look forward to seeing and talking with you in 2013. I hope you have the opportunity to spend some time enjoying your Family and friends during the Holiday, but please don't forget to take time to reflect on 2012 and to "look forward" to 2013. Happy Holidays to you and your Family.

News You Can Use!
ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS REQUIRED All benefit payments are required to be processed electronically starting no-later-than JANUARY 1,2013. Monthly premium payments must be made by either recurring Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or recurring Debit/Credit Card (Visa/MasterCard only)
Electronic Payments Required for TRICARE Reserve Select and Retired Reserve Monthly Premiums October 10, 2012 FALLS CHURCH, Va. – To avoid losing coverage, beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) or TRICARE Retired Reserve (TRR) who pay monthly premiums by check need to switch to an electronic form of payment before Jan. 1, 2013. Beginning Jan. 1, 2013, TRICARE will only accept monthly premium payments using recurring automatic payments by credit or debit card, or by recurring electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a linked bank account. To avoid confusion, beneficiaries should verify that their bank sends EFT payments electronically. The Defense Manpower Data Center is notifying current TRR and TRS beneficiaries directly by email, and new beneficiaries will be informed in their welcome package information when enrolling. Electronic payments streamline account management and ensure continuous coverage for beneficiaries. Failure to pay premiums by the due date results in termination of coverage.
Recently “Guidelines for Suspension and Reinstatement of TRICARE Reserve Select Coverage” was released as to help Tricare members understand suspension of benefits, eligibility for reinstatement and the process for requesting reinstatement of Tricare benefits. Excerpt from Memorandum: TRICARE Regional Director (or contractor) Approval Authority. A TRS member/survivor may request reversal of a TRS suspension from the TRICARE Regional Director (RD) (or contractor as required) with no justification needed. The RD (or contractor) shall accept a request if: (a) received no later than 3 months after the paid-through date; (b) no suspension has been lifted within 12 months preceding the paid-through date; (c) payment of overdue and current premiums in full is included; and (d) information is provided to establish recurring electronic premium payments. Upon acceptance of the request, the suspension shall be lifted, which will reinstate coverage with no break:. If the request is not accepted, it shall be rejected and returned. If not lifted, the suspension continues until 12 months from the paid-through date at which time the termination and lock-out become final for that time period. To view the full memorandum visit www.health.mil/libraries/ HA_Policies_and_Guidelines/12-009.pdf or request a copy from your local Family Assistance Center
Beneficiaries can contact their regional contractor to set up automatic payments and get more information. Contact information for each region is available online at www.TRICARE.mil/contacts. TRS and TRR are premium-based health plans. TRS is available for eligible members of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve and their families; and TRR can be purchased by retired Reserve members, their families and eligible survivors of deceased retired Reserve sponsors. For more information about TRS or TRR go to www.tricare.mil.
Assistance For Families If your Family is in need of assistance for the Holidays, please contact your local FAC for details about help you are eligible for and how to obtain it.

Résumé
What resume do I use? While this is not the end all, be all for applying for a job, it can help you wade through the applying for the job you know you can do. Here, we include two broad examples of résumés highlighting what “sells” you on paper. The first is an example of a résumé that is best used when the position clearly defines the job responsibilities. See the next page for a different approach.
