The Level 1 Self Defence Course is a 6 week program covering basic self defence techniques the Laws that underpin the use of force, the impact of adrenaline stress and how it impairs reactions. On completion of the 6 weeks and an additional work book the students will be certified Level 1 in basic self defence.

S E L F K I N D N E S S

In the session I aim to complete activities that would support the learners self-kindness and mindfulness techniques to help aid their self esteem, moral and studies. The activities link to the 'Self-kindness Toolkit' (British Red Cross) and also 'Mental health handbook' (NCFE).

"A survey published in 2022 by Place2Be and the National Association of Head Teachers found that staff had witnessed an increase in mental health problems among pupils since the start of the academic year, including increased anxiety (95%), low self-esteem (86%), depression (76%) and constant feelings of anger (68%)." NCFE (2022).

An opportunity for wind instrumentalists to get together and perform from a vast collection of music from a wide range of genres. From rock and pop, through movies and musicals to light classical and traditional folk songs - something for everyone! Percussionists and bass guitarists also welcome.

Iaido ,is a Japanese martial art that emphasises being aware and capable of quickly drawing the sword and responding to sudden attacks. This would be done using wooden training bokkens, with the students been able to gain belts in this martial art if they wanted to.

In this enrichment activity you will be shown, step by step, how to make your own model football stadium. It involves creativity, painting, as well as some basic modelling skills. It's very relaxing, helps and lot with mindfulness and eases stress.
