WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT: VIDEOS

Here at NCSA, we believe in the power of recruiting education. The recruiting process has been rapidly changing over the past 10+ years, and knowing how the process works today can mean the difference between earning a scholarship and not competing in college. To help set you up for success, we’ve put together some valuable tips for managing your videos!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

VIDEOS TYPES OF VIDEOS With your NCSA membership, you are allowed to post 2 types of video to your NCSA profile: verified videos and unverified videos. A verified video is edited by our NCSA Video Editors and an unverified video is an unedited YouTube video posted directly to your profile.

ADDING YOUTUBE VIDEOS TIPS OF THE TRADE

You can add YouTube videos to your NCSA profile through the Video page in your Recruiting Management System. Just copy the link to your YouTube video, paste it in corresponding box in your RMS and include the date(s) your footage was filmed in the title.

The number of verified videos you receive will vary depending on your membership, and once a verified video has been posted, it cannot be updated or replaced. On top of your edited verified video(s), you also have the ability to add six YouTube videos to your profile at any given time. Unverified videos will not count against the number of verified videos you receive and you have the ability to swap out unverified videos any time you see fit!

TIPS OF THE TRADE VIDEO LOGS A video log is so helpful to NCSA’s Video Editors that any footage submitted with a video log will be completed much quicker than any unlogged footage.

BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR FOOTAGE TO NCSA Before you start collecting footage to send to NCSA, read through the video guidelines for your sport. Your video guidelines will go over what kind of footage to film, what camera angles to use, how much footage NCSA needs to edit your video, and more! Your video guidelines can be found on the Video page, under the Edit Profile tab in your RMS. If you plan on sending in more than an hour’s worth of footage, it is highly recommended that you submit a video log with your film – a blank video log can be found in your Video Guidelines. The video log helps NCSA video editors identify where your best clips are in your footage and gives them an idea of where you are at on the field/court/etc.
