1817 – Baron Karl von Drais invented the “Draisienne”, a steerable machine 1830 – Scottist Kirkpatrick invented the “Velocipede” with a system of levers and pedals 1863 – Pierre Michaux added pedals to the design of Draisienne and invented the first commercial Velocipede, popularly known as ‘Bone Shaker’ 1870 – James Starley did innovative engineering to introduce the penny farthing, commonly known as High-Wheel 1879 - Henry.J.Lawson introduced a safety bicycle with rear wheel and chain mechanism known as “Bicyclette” 1889 – Introduction of the “Rover Safety” machine by John Kemp Starley finally completes the evolution cycle of the “Bicycle”
