Christmas
GIVING OPPORTUNITY 2020
Dear Ministry Partners, Jesus came into this world in a simple setting. He was born to a very young mother who was temporarily staying in a guest room. Think of that moment—the Bread of Life (John 6:35) lying in a feeding trough! Jesus is also the Word that became flesh (John 1:14). And later, after His earthly ministry was complete, the written word of the New Testament was joined to the Old to guide His people for generations to come. Now, we come to the present. Our nation and world are in such desperate need of “peace on earth.” So at this time, we need to focus on the two most basic necessities of life. More than ever, it is crucial to provide food and God’s Word to those who hunger the most. This Christmas season, we are focusing on giving out Bibles and meal packets: For $72, you can serve up to 240 nutritious meals to the hungry For $75, you can distribute 15 Bibles—spiritual food for eternity Our call to help is simple. We hope you will consider giving multiples of both so that many can be blessed during this special time of year. Glory to God in the highest heaven,
Joseph Williams, CEO
Feeding Physical Hunger with Nutritious Meals
God often calls Feed the Hunger to relieve physical suffering by providing emergency food aid following a disaster. In addition to multiple devastating hurricanes, 2020 has presented an unexpected crisis—the coronavirus pandemic. Several ministries in the Houston, Texas, area have partnered with us to meet hunger head-on during the pandemic. Here is just one story of the difference nutritious meals make when the unexpected occurs.
I have always packed meals with Feed the Hunger at the annual Packathon in Katy, TX, with Attack Poverty. I never thought I would be a recipient of the meals I helped pack. Since COVID-19, I have needed assistance with food for my family. It was a time when my husband’s job hours were cut from 60 a week to 30. The pandemic hit us in many ways, including the loss of loved ones. The Feed the Hunger meal packets were right on time for my family at the height of COVID-19. I received the meal packets weekly, and my boys loved the food. I was so thankful to receive help in my time of need. My kiddos had such a fun time packing at the 2020 Katy Packathon [in February, just prior to the pandemic]. They ask all the time when they can pack again. When they saw the meals that they packed in our box of food, they couldn’t wait to taste! They couldn’t believe they helped pack the meals we were eating. They also couldn’t believe how good it was. We plan to pack alongside Attack Poverty, a recipient of FtH meals, in 2021. – Community Resident
Every $72 you give provides 240 meals for children and families in need My name is Monika. I am six years old. I live with my only brother and my parents at Rangpur’s remote village. I read in Class 1 at Talitha Koumi School. During the pandemic COVID-19, my day-labor father has not much money. He is hardly able to manage food for us. But the meal package by Feed the Hunger has given us the food we need. I felt very weak and unwell before the meal package program. I was not eager to play with my brother. It has been a year since my mother started cooking the delicious food. My brother and I play at home and help my mother. Now I feel very strong, and I can study and play many games at a time. I saw my father works very hard to get a job. But he is very happy that we can eat nutritious food every day. I am very thankful for receiving the meal package from you. My parents are blessed as they pray for you every day. I also pray for you to be with my family and me. Thank you!
Fednel is 12 years old and lives in western Haiti. He was born and raised in an extremely poor area high on Chacha Mountain. In 2009, he started receiving Feed the Hunger food at Galette Chambon School, located several kilometers down the valley from Chacha Mountain. A few years ago, his village built its own school and Fednel is now able, along with several hundred other children, to receive nutritious FtH meals closer to home. I am enjoying the meal packets. In the beginning it was hard for me to eat, and I was always hungry. But now, I eat every day since I receive meals at school. My life has changed from eating the meal packets. I am happy and I am thankful. – Fednel

Feeding Spiritual Hunger with God’s Word
My name is Madame Moise Rebecca. My husband and I are missionaries in the village of Monzou, Mali. Previously, I never received an audio Bible.* It is a great joy for me. With the audio Bible, I will be able to listen to the entire Bible in my own language. We don’t have electricity or a flashlight at night, but this doesn’t stop me from listening to the audio Bible. With this Bible, I can listen to it when I am with my cousin. In our village, 99% of the women cannot read or write, so I plan to organize listening groups with women and groups of children. We have already begun to memorize biblical history.
*Audio Bibles cost extra, but are often used in group settings and by those unable to read.
Every $75 you give provides 15 Bibles to those hungry for God’s Word
Robamleak had been living on the Cambodian border with Thailand and was suffering from mental illness. He often slept in the cemeteries and everyone was afraid to approach him. With God’s help, several believers began to pray for him and reached out to him. Over time, Robamleak’s demeanor improved and he was invited to a local church. Rev. Meng met the young man and provided him with a Bible. Today, Rev. Meng meets with Robamleak frequently and encourages him. He now participates in a discipleship class. The leaders of the church are encouraging him in his faith walk so that he is able to be a witness to others. Robamleak’s testimony shows how God’s Word and the prayers of believers can yield a transformed life. I love the Bible because this is the book about Jesus, who rescued me from bondage. – Robamleak
