ACT Health through Coerver Coaching are encouraging children to Tap into Tap water as their preferred drink of choice. Coerver ACT director Jason Lancsar said, “We are very pleased to work with ACT Health in this campaign.” At all of our Coerver programs throughout the ACT region we ensure tap water is available and explain to the children that it is plentiful, good for their health, a great alternative to drinks full of sugar and great for rehydrating after physical activity ”.

Home Study “The Step Over” Step 1: Approach the ball as if you’re going to pass or strike it. Step 2: Step around the ball instead, so your foot lands on the other side of it. Step 3: Step the opposite foot alongside the step-over foot then, with the outside of the step-over foot, push the ball in the opposite direction. Step 4: Accelerate past your opponent. PLAYERS’ TIPS 1. Keep the ball close, and not far out in front of you. 2. Keep your step-around foot close to the ball, as if striking it, and low to the ground for a quick action. 3. When you step around the ball, turn your hips and upper body to trick your opponent into moving in that direction. This will also help you accelerate powerfully out of the move in the opposite direction; like a spring uncoiling. Practice 5 minutes each day

Young Matilda and Canberra United star Kahlia Hogg is one of our newest Coerver Coaches. We asked Kahlia her thoughts on all things Coerver
ACT Health
“Coerver is one of the few global curriculums I’ve seen that benefits players of any level. As teams get more skilful, the game gets more beautiful and more interesting to watch. It’s the skill that separates the top teams and top players. I think one of Coerver’s biggest assets is that its curriculum enables you to teach any child of any ability the Coerver skills.,” says Kahlia Hogg.

“Alfred was great – he gave me a different perspective not only on how to play football but particularly how to train for football. “He was teaching me the whip (In the picture right) pushing the ball out with the outside of the foot, then quickly wrapping your foot around and dragging it to the inside like a whip, he was showing this particular move, showing me the body movement, how to sell it to a player. You can see he has so much wisdom, and so much passion for football.”

I became a Coerver Coach firstly to improve my own game. I thought it would help me to see the game differently and it has. I think Coerver has a wonderful curriculum and I was delighted to get the opportunity. I worked alongside a great bunch of coaches with people like Adrian (Haynes) and Simon (Bugden) at my first clinic recently. One thing which I found through the Coerver Clinic (four days) which I’d never seen before in coaching, was how quickly the kids progressed. The kids were so willing to
learn and so willing to try, it was really great and really rewarding.
