Caraga is fourth poorest region in the country Poverty incidence among families was much higher than the 2012 figure. Among the provinces in the region, only Surigao del Norte exhibited a decrease in poverty incidence among families while Agusan del Sur has the highest. HIV causes progressive failure of the immune system, making the body far more susceptible to infections and cancer. For some patients, HIV develops into acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Goal 7 : Ensure environmental sustainability Households with Access to Safe Water Supply, Sanitary Toilets 2009-2015

Goal 8 : Develop a Global Partnership for Development
In 2015, over 21 projects were implemented in the region which were funded through official development assistance (ODA) with various agencies as program holders. Project implementation were at various levels covering farm-to-market roads, bridges, irrigation projects, potable water supply, livelihood and capacity building activities.

Partnerships with foreign funding institutions allowed the region to become a recipient not only of financial assistance but of new technologies and ways of development from donor countries.
