NORTHEAST DAIRY FOODS ASSOCIATION,
Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc.
BACKGROUND
The Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc. was established in 1928 as New York State Milk Distributors, Inc. with more than 500 members. In 1978, the Association recognized the need to include and invite other segments of the dairy processing/manufacturing industry to join. We appropriately changed our name to New York State Dairy Foods, Inc. In 2008, members requested the Association expand services to all of New England and New Jersey to better serve members’ needs in those states. The name was then changed to Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc. Today’s membership includes small family-owned businesses to large corporations that process, manufacture, and distribute quality, wholesome, fresh dairy products to the United States and the world.
The types of members include milk and dairy product processors, distributors, cheese manufacturers, ice cream plants, and all cultured dairy product manufacturers (including yogurt, dairy cooperatives, and some dairy farm producers). To be a member, a company must be based and/or sell dairy products in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont. All memberships are approved by the Board of Directors. We encourage our members to support the Association, to be actively involved, and to refer companies for membership. An application can be found on the Association’s website at ndfsa.org.
ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS
Northeast Dairy Foods is dedicated to:
• Providing services and information to our members that will continually serve to improve their operations, ensuring the efficient distribution of the freshest and safest dairy products possible.
• Representing our membership as a united manufacturing/distribution industry before legislative bodies and regulatory agencies, promoting and safeguarding its common business interests.

WHY WORK WITH US?
WHY WORK WITH US?
HP HOOD - A COMMITMENT TO QUALITY AND COMMUNITY
After two years of delivering milk for other farms, Harvey P. Hood decided that people deserved better, fresher, more reliable, premium-quality milk. So, in 1846, he started his own business - and Hood® has been raising the bar in dairy ever since.
Our founder, Harvey Hood, wouldn’t work with just any farmer, and neither will we. Hood’s uncompromised commitment to quality ensures that your milk comes from only the best farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones, and demonstrate the highest standards of quality, animal care, environmental sustainability and workforce development. Because what’s good for farmers, their land, and their livestock is good for the milk.
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do and that has allowed our company to grow and evolve into what it is today.
The commitment to ensuring the consumer receives the best possible product is rooted in the company’s DNA - superior quality checks, high-quality processing, working with the best farmers and suppliers. That discipline has been nurtured for generations, and Hood maintains an in-house R&D team in Wilmington, MA, committed to that success. The Kaneb family acquired Hood 25 years ago (in December 1995) and increased its annual sales from $600 million to about $2.7 billion for 2020 by investing in innovation (including the Hood® LightBlock Bottle®) and diversifying the company’s o erings to account for shifting consumer tastes and needs.
ABOUT US
At Hood, it’s all about fresh. For our products and our thinking. Our history of innovation inspires everything we do, from the groundbreaking LightBlock Bottle®, to the biggest, boldest selections of cottage cheese flavors out there. It’s also what drives our sustainability e orts as we continually implement measures to minimize our environmental impact and reduce resource consumption and waste.

STEAM GENERATORS
Beverage Industry Innovation: How steam generators are driving production efficiency and growth
When it comes to keeping things running smoothly in the beverage industry, reliable steam generation is crucial. Whether it’s producing thousands of gallons of wine daily or crafting smallbatch spirits, the right equipment makes a big difference. As showcased in two articles in Project Report, for Bronco Wine Co. and CH Distillery, Clayton steam generators have been key players in their operations.
TOP TEN REASONS TO BUY FROM CLAYTON
1. FUEL EFFICIENCT
The Clayton design produces higher fuel to steam efficiency, even when operating below the full firing rate.
2. COMPACT SIZE
Clayton Steam Generators require only one third of the floor space of traditional boilers.
3. RAPID START UP
The Clayton Steam Generator can go from a cold start to full steam output in less than five minutes.
4. QUALITY STEAM
The fixed vane separator yields the driest saturated steam available in the industry today, typically less than 0.5% at all loads.
5. REDUCED BLOWDOWN
The Beverage Demand
The Clayton design requires one tenth the amount of blowdown, saving fuel, water, and chemicals.
6. SAFETY
Bronco Wine Co., located in Ceres, California, is one of the world's largest wineries, producing nearly 186,000 gallons of wine daily. The company's significant scale demands a dependable and efficient steam supply for various

processes, including heating, and cleaning. The San Joaquin where Bronco is based, is known stringent air quality regulations, the use of low NOx (Nitrogen burners to minimize emissions.
Clayton Steam Generators are available as complete skidded systems with all components shipped on a common skid, pre-wired and pre-plumbed for easy installation. Skidded systems can include the steam generator, feedwater pump, feedwater tanks, water treatment, and blowdown tank.
8. SINGLE SOURCE
Clayton Industries designs, manufactures and supplies complete systems, including hotwells, deaerators, blowdown tanks, water softeners and our own range of feedwater chemicals that are specially formulated for the Clayton Steam Generator. We also offer 24/7 Support from our factory service technicians.
9. LOW EMISSIONS
Clayton offers ultra-low NOx and low CO burners, as well as flue gas recirculation systems that meet strict air quality standards throughout the country.
10. FACTORY DIRECT
CH Distillery, a newer entrant beverage industry, operates Chicago. The distillery, which in vodka, gin, rum, and other depends heavily on steam production processes. Unlike vodka production methods industrial ethanol, CH Distillery’s approach involves creating scratch, which requires substantial for mashing, fermenting, and grains. The distillery’s urban also demands equipment with footprint and high safety standards.

Virginia Dare Extract Co. A
Century of Preferred Taste
For over 100 years, Virginia Dare has been the trusted flavor partner for dairy brands seeking to deliver products that indulge consumers with unforgettable taste experiences. Our legacy is built on a commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation, from crafting premium vanilla extracts to designing natural and organic flavors. We bring unmatched expertise and dedication to every collaboration. Whether you need a clean-label solution, help masking functional ingredients, or flavor modulation for sugar reduction, our team of dedicated flavor scientists delivers tailored, market-ready offerings that inspire loyalty and stand the test of time.
Innovating for Dairy and Beyond
Virginia Dare specializes in crafting sweet, indulgent, fruity, and creamy flavors that elevate both dairy and dairy-alternative applications. From animal-based dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and ice cream to plant-based options like oat, almond, pea, and coconut milks, we custom-configure our flavors to compliment or enhance the inherent subtleties of base ingredient formulations. Virginia Dare can further improve the profiles of dairy and dairy-alt products with our taste refinement systems. Masking flavors can smooth out the taste profile and eliminate undesirable attributes like off-notes from whey protein, bitterness from functional actives, and gritty or chalkiness imparted by some plant proteins. Our FMPs can build back the perception of sweetness when sugar is reduced or improve mouthfeel to achieve full-fat flavor impact. Whether you’re developing protein shakes, creamers, or plant-based smoothies, our team ensures every product is as enjoyable as it is functional. Our capabilities span ready-to-drink, ready-to-mix, and ready-to-pour applications, plus indulgent dairy favorites like dips, spreads, and frozen desserts.
About Us
From Carteret, New Jersey to The Ends of The Earth.
Virginia Dare creates exceptional taste experiences through expertise in flavor development and innovation. Focusing on natural, clean-label, and sustainable ingredients, we empower our partners to meet consumer demands and deliver exceptional, memorable products.

Integrity Cost Consulting (ICC) works on a performance basis, to verify clients are being charged accurately and paying the least amount possible for waste, telecom, uniform, and utility services. Nine out of 10 organizations overpay for these services, but don't know it. ICC can help you recover these costs and return significant money back to your bottom line without disrupting operations.
