The office has been designed to look more spacioous - given that the avaialble area is only 750 square feet carpet. Horizontal linear elements have been stressed upon along the lenth of the office-space to give a sense of an enlongated space. Mirror finished flooring results into a mirage that makes the space look taller overall.

The site is a challenging one, sinceit is hevily contoured- the different between the highest & lowest point being close to ten metres, with a water canal runnig right through the center of the land anda mango orchard at its center. Site planning had to be cariedin a way that no tree, vegetation or ecological aspect of the land were disturbed or harmed. Abundunt research & understanding about designing for Birds of Prey went into its design and conception. The center is presently underconstruction.

Atali Residential Comminuty Landscape Planning & Design

Atali Residential Comminuty Landscape Planning & Design

Atali has been planned as a housing colony for the torrent power ltd. employees & guests. The site is placed on a very large piece of land of about a few acres. During the internship course, the project was in its execution stage. most of the piling work had been done & the working + tender drawings were in the making. Also, the landscape design was to be done with the integrated concept of reusing the water and harvesting the available rainwater. Water was to be used as a landscape feature- as the water reservoirs, water chanels and waterbodies around buildings. Also, it had to be planned as a productive landscape site - i.e. it had to be designed in a manner that the community could be sustained within itself- be itfor the food (crop/vegetable/ fruits) or water (water recycling & harvesting). Each Avenvue is landscaped to be looked at, as a fruit avenue paired with a particular kind of a crop(s)(keeping into consideration the crop rotation) . While working on this part,it was also very important, not to lose even a little on the aesthetical side of landscaping. The Landscape design provided me with an opportunity to work on the plumbingand sewage layout as well and pairing them with the rainwater channels.

Ahmedabad House ‘faliyu’ or Garden

Located in the heart of a thriving Industrial area, in Ahmedabad and in proximity to a major landfill - the building demanded being closed down from all sides and spaces being inward looking. An office for a staff of 30 people, The building had to be constructed, completed within a time frame of three months, including the interiors. A challenging task, for the project brief clearly mentioned to deliver the building within the given time frame. Focus, during the course, remained on efficient execution rather than innovation or experimentation in terms of design. Mass Housing for the Developing Class Location : Rajkot, Gujarat, India

Year : 2016

Area : 4.6 acres

Theme : Socially & Culturally relevant Rural-Urban Housing Complex Material Palette : Precast Concrete Structure - Assembled on Site. Role: Designer

Mass Housing For Developing Class Hexagonal module

Precast Concrete walls for accelerated construction

Units staggered by half a module

The site is located in a dense suburban context

Staggered Units provided interactive outdoor spaces for all units which are in conjunction with the rest of them

The design focuses on creating a habitable environment. The buildings are placed to create a common community space. Three clusters and their open spaces, open up to the green patch - with abundunt greencover. The decision was taken to retain the existing trees on site . There is an attempt to locate all the terraces towards this green area - which would house all major outdoor recreation spaces, for all agegroups. The dwelling units stagger ,to form terraces for each residential unit. These, provide scope for spilling activities outdoors, as well as a scope for future expansions. Developing Housing as a Social Process - constantly in transformation yet rooted in its timelessness. The Housing Blocks have been arranged to provide easy visual and physical proximity between adjacent and neighbourhood units. A herirarcchy of open spaces has been achieved in terms of residential balconies connecting strongly to the neighbourhood level open space which eventually opens upto into a small forest like space, which holds an ancient well and a temple. Certain communal and physiographical traits of the site have been retained.

structural module overlay Living conditions have been densified in order to achieve maximum FAR potential & maximize open spaces availability in the community. Hexagons provide excellent structural strength - in an earthquake prone zone. The structure has been designed for easy increment of modules and houses in the future while not losing on the spatial quality of the existing houses.

Mass Housing For Developing Class interactive terrace spaces for each unit

living spaces for all units face the inner courtyard - generating more scope for for informal conversations

common open / green space located centrally & shared by all 120 units

easy interaction with noisy neighbours

The Housing complexes have been designed keeping in mind the heigh : width ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 for the clusters. This has been taken care of, in order to achieve a sense and scale of visually and physically interactive neighbourhood. On the other hand, the entire central courtyard area has been peddestrianized by diverting automobile parking in the basement area.
