FACE FRIDAYS: ANCIENT LIVING ROSE AND ORANGE FACE PACK REVIEW As kids, my grandmother would stir up some quick in-house remedies to common skin problems we faced as girls such as a turmeric paste for rigid acne spots or a curd-lemon mask for a dry scalp. I think we can all agree on the fact that a good home remedy beats the chemical product you spent 10 times more on, any day. Ancient Living is one such brand that deals exclusively in organic solutions to your skin and hair woes. So when I came across their impressive and super-affordable range of at-home solutions to skin ailments, i knew I had to get my hands on them. I started off by trying out one of their most raved about product: The rose and orange face pack. Product Claims: Product Description: Ancient Living Rose and Orange face pack is a soothing clay mask with rose petals, Orange peel powder and orange oil. Rose is also known as Shatapatri in Ayurveda. It has varnya qualities which promote radiance or brightness. It has anti-inflammatory properties known as shothahara. Rose has a calming effect and promotes peace and relaxation. Rose also has a cooling effect on the skin. Orange relieves tiredness and imparts freshness. This natural clay based product with natural Orange essential oil is for anyone who wants to have a clearer and fresh complexion. Product Details: Rose & Orange face pack-40gm Rs.125 Brand: Ancient Living Product Code: AL42 Ingredients: Pure extracts of rose water and orange peel Ayurvedic Proprietary medicine (Best before 24 months) Directions for Use: Mix with water or rosewater or an essential oil to make a paste. Use as a face pack. My experience with the Rose and Orange Face pack: Face packs are usually available in two types; one, a powder based pigment that you can add other essential oils or herbs to or just stir it up into a paste by adding water; two, a readymade paste of decent consistency that you can apply with either bare hands or a brush. This particular product being a powder-based one, I mixed it in with some rose water to apply the mask. At first, the smell of the product is a little overwhelming for somebody who’s used to chemical smells as the pure rose and orange extracts’ smell can get a little heady at times. The brown paper packaging looks clean, but could’ve been better to increase functionality. The mix turns into a smooth paste very easily and doesn’t crumble and form lumps like most other face packs. Upon application, it leaves a tingling feeling for 2-3 minutes post application, after which the mask sets and dries. Another interesting fact about this particular face pack was that unlike most of its counterparts, It dried out smooth but did not really create craters on my skin! (I’m sure a lot of you can relate to that!) After a good fifteen minutes of letting it sit on my skin while I was sipping a cup of green tea, I washed the residue off with lukewarm water.
Results: After using the face pack twice a week for three weeks now, I can actually say that this product is worth giving a try and spending your money on. Being someone of the combination skin-type family, I did not notice and reduction in the oil produced on my T zone areas, but neither did the pack do anything to irritate my skin, which was a plus! Also, after repeated use, my skin did feel fresh and rejuvenated with a supple after glow. The only downside to the product would be the brown paper packaging that easily crinkles and gets wet if left on the bath countertop. Pros of Ancient living rose and orange face pack: Affordable Organic solution Easy to apply Does not react harshly Leaves skin looking supple and young Cons: Packaging A heady smell Overall, Ancient Living Rose and Orange face pack has all the properties it claims to be having. One powder pack, different variations to the mask, resulting in different benefits. I’ll surely repurchase it and recommend it to all who want a true-to-its-word face pack!
