Concept > From early on, we learn the power of alignment and we build our designs on grids. As designers it is our duty to build on concepts that we find through research. Then, we put together all the elements to create the best solution. This portfolio was built on all the core principles of design.

{ How the future will be imagined }
Objective > Design the conference materials for a hypothetical or actual design conference. The required deliverables for this project are: a poster, name tags, a brochure, an application and a website. Approach > After researching and exploring different directions, I built on the concept emergent pathways which was the theme for the conference. The graphic elements in my design system indicate the connection between different paths.

{ How to avoid the hassle of auto repairs }
Objective > Design the current Service Center pages with the goal of converting more users to sign up for a CarDash service from the website by taking into account the business objective of an individual scheduling a service. Approach > For this project I followed the current branding and tried to develop their Service Center section of the website. The images were provided by the business and I tried to incorporate the type with imagery to create some more interesting visuals. Also, some details about the individual car services was thought through and added to the design.

{ Where we shop locally and organically }
Objective > For this project, we were asked to choose an annual report or a CSR report from a company and redesign it. The goal is to develop an engaging concept and a strong visual to tie the whole system together. The design needs to be consistent but interesting at the same time. It is definitely a challenge for typographic skills. Approach > I picked Whole foods Market and decided to redesign their annual report. Since Whole foods is all about healthy eating and organic food, I decide to use a very natural color pallet and use recycled paper to print out the report.

{ What grows on the wine }
Objective > In this project we were supposed to find a problem and solve the problem by designing an app. The goal of this project was to research the audience and find what was appealing to them, and then based on user testing, create a mobile app which could solve the problem in the easiest way. Approach > Based on my user needs I created a mobile app called Le vin. This app is designed for people who would like to educate themselves about different types of wine and their best pairings. Also, the app allows the users to purchase wine or rate and review the bottles that they had tried.

Objective > Pick a word from supplied list and experiment with form and composition while consider the meaning of the word literally or abstractly. The context of and design of the poster should describe the definition, thoughts or references. Approach > I chose the word “fluidity from the supplied list. After researching the definition of the word literally, symbolically, and abstractly, I experimented with different subjects and narrowed down my direction to water and jellyfish by converting an actual photograph to black and white while modifying the brightness and contrast.

It’s okay to be fluid, fluidity is what keeps our lives interesting, keeps our minds open to new things. So don’t fight your own fluidity; use it. Embrace the breeze. Take a long look at your fears, your pain, your disappointment. See their nature, investigate them. Forge your path, but be blown by curiosity. Choosing a path in life and sticking can be successful. Allow yourself to float on the breeze, Know that the wind will find the cracks. No matter how solidly we build our lives, no matter how bombproof our plans, the unexpected is always around the corner.

Subject >
{ How a song can be seen }
Objective > Develop a rationale for interpreting and expressing a music piece through typography, imagery, and layout. Gather ideas, emotions, and visuals that would be associated with the chosen song. Then project the visuals onto various surfaces to create an analog and multi-dimensional design solution without initial use of software. Approach > I chose Madonna’s song Frozen from 1998. The song is about getting through to a cold lover. I tried to experiment with different typefaces and visuals to represent the tribal feel, or something really lush, and romantic. After shooting different experimental type printed on transparent vinyl paper and collected imagery projected on the wall and screen. Then, I developed, refined, and finalized a layout for final poster as a required deliverable. Year > Spring 2018 Instr uctor > Stanley Zienka Course > Type Experiments

Objective > Research Information about a topic of patterns, using that information to develop a concept to be used in a multipage publication by developing imagery and text. Approach > The intent of the project was to help me explore how a design process can be used to help define a project’s framework. Then we needed to expand on it to find a direct visual solution by using similar imagery in balance to create a unique point of view regarding the subject of patterns.

Description > For this project we explored different techniques to come up with a conceptual direction. One of the required techniques for this project was to use creative cards that suggest different techniques to make an image more interesting. Using creative cards was a great exercise as it challenged me to see the visuals differently. Also, I was very much inspired by Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist, that uses dots to create artwork.

{ Thank you }
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to all those who have helped me on this journey. Without a doubt, I would not have been able to achieve my goals without the support of these generous people. To my family, who have always been there for me and supported me no matter what. To my friends, without your kindness, understanding, and willingness to help, I would not have been able to survive. And finally, to my professors, thank you for helping me to build on my skills and grow into the designer that I am today. I would like to specially thank Mary Scott for guiding me through this portfolio process. I appreciate you and everyone who has supported me through all of this.
