The Condo Corner By NE HomeLife Staff From Boston to southern Rhode Island the condo market has been invigorated by a fresh supply of buyers crossing over a multitude of generations. Traditional condo buyers were driven by the simple premise of maintanence free living in home ownership. In a sense you could get into the real estate market without all the burdens of owning a home. Today there are a growing number of factors driving the condo market that have made it a great time to buy or sell. First time single or newly married homebuyers for decades have used condos as a stepping stone into the housing market. In addition retirees helped fuel the 55 and older developments through the 80's and 90's accounting for a significant boom in building these properties.
Today's condo market is being driven by a much more diverse buyers pool that cross over multiple generations from first time buyers to retirees, urban executives and small families as well. In a real estate market where homebuyers are looking for move in ready with little or no maintanence, condos offer the perfect solution. Condo development has paid close attention to what buyers want in the last decade in this market. Condo communities today are offering more amenities, larger living spaces and better planning and design. The amenities now standard in most developments include community centers for gatherings, a pool, fitness centers, full security and reserved parking in many cases in a gated community. Add these features to a sin-

gle family home and you're looking at a million dollar plus price tag and a huge maintanence expense monthly. Condo living is now available in almost all demographics throughout New England. With the pilgrimage back to city living by generation X Y and Z new condo projects have found new life in new building and old historic city properties, abandon mills that offer wonderful space exposed beams and great high ceilings and windows. Up grades in all building technologies have made these tech savvy new generations feel right at home. The new model for many properties both in city and urban development embraces better space planning both inside and out with a much better community feel for buyers.
