What IS the Canadian Technology Accelerator Program (CTA)? The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service manages the Canadian Technology Accelerators (CTA) in New York, San Francisco & Silicon Valley, Boston, Denver and Philadelphia, global clusters for INNOVATION and entrepreneurship. This PROGRAM provides Canadian SMALL to MID-SIZE companies in information and communication technology, digital and social media, gaming, clean technologies, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING, and life sciences with access to unique resources and contacts that can FURTHER their growth:

Canadian companies selected for placement in the CTA Program are engaged in an intensive mentorship program within the
accelerator, and receive workspace, advisory, and connection services facilitated and covered by the Consulate. In particular these include: office space at world-renown business accelerators and amongst inspired and like-minded global entrepreneurs, introductions to experienced mentors and advisors including successful Canadian executive expatriates, access to industry leaders, venture capitalists and other key resources. CTA participants have access to networking events with potential partners and investors, additional connection services from the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, professional coaches and service providers. To date over 200 Canadian companies have participated in the CTA program. Thierry Weissenburger Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Boston
Thierry Weissenburger is Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Boston where he leads the Consulate commercial team in support of Canadian businesses’ growth in the New England market. Before coming to Boston in the summer 2012, Thierry carried the same responsibilities in San Francisco/ Silicon Valley for 5 years. Thierry is the creator of the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) operated now by the Trade Commissioner Service in the Silicon Valley, New York, and Boston. He has also been closely associated with the establishment of Canadian executive expatriate associations in Silicon Valley and Boston, C100 and the CENE. Thierry was previously posted in Copenhagen, as head of the Canadian Commercial Program in Denmark and as Canadian Science and Technology Coordinator for the Nordic countries, supporting Canadian research organizations and businesses developing technology collaborative projects throughout the Nordic countries. Earlier assignments include Deputy Directorship at the Science and Technology Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) where he managed Canada’s international Science and Technology (S&T) Agreements and various management and operating responsibilities at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and, subsequently, at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). Thierry Weissenburger holds an MBA from the University of Quebec in Montreal with specializations in Management of Innovation and International Affairs. He also holds a B.A.A.
