Protecting Your Intellectual Property Intellectual property (IP) rights are an extremely valuable asset for any business – possibly the most important that a business can have. IP protection is also critical to fostering innovation. Without the protection that it brings, a business may not reap the full benefits of their ideas and inventions.
You’ve developed a solid invention and are ready to take it to the next level. But to succeed and safeguard your idea, you need to protect your Intellectual Property. If your goal is to receive protection for your invention, this program is for you. Protect your invention! IP establishes a right to and ownership of an intellectual creation; prevents competitors from copying or closely imitating a business' product or service; protects a business' distinct identity, image and ultimately its reputation; and builds customer trust and loyalty by establishing a unique brand name or image. What is the program? The IP Program will aid local NL businesses in learning about intellectual property and patents, and in filing their patent application. Covered under the program is Conflict and Suitability Checks, Invention Documentation and Initial Assessment, and Preparation and Filing of the Patent Application. Get Results! Some Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) companies, especially small businesses, may be at a disadvantage as they may lack the knowledge, expertise, and resources necessary to protect their ideas and products. This program will aid local NL advanced technology businesses in protecting their inventions. Is this program for you? This program is not for everybody. We are looking for companies whose invention has not been previously sold, used or publically disclosed by others in the last year. Inventors in Newfoundland and Labrador who have already disclosed their invention have one year from the date of disclosure to file for a patent. Through an application process, up to five companies will be selected to participate in this cost shared (50/50) program. Learn about this program and the difference it can make to your business at the information session.
Please join us at an Information Session, where you’ll learn more about the program, what it can do for your company, and the application process. Thursday, August 18th, 2016 12:00-1:30 pm NATI Boardroom, 391 Empire Ave., Suite 5 If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Dyanna@nati.net. Lunch will be provided.
