F
rom September 18-27, 2013, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism, Department of Advanced Education and Skills, will lead a skilled worker promotion and attraction event in Ireland. This job fair will focus on bringing together local employers who have difficult-to-fill positions with skilled workers who are willing to work and relocate to Newfoundland and Labrador. This mission will be conducted in partnership with an experienced Irish-based recruitment management company. There is a full suite of opportunities for employers to participate in this event, including: • A three-day Job Fair; • Support from the provincial Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism to assist you in following up with prospective employees, and provide guidance on the process of hiring international workers; • A comprehensive, targeted advertising campaign to attract the right job-seekers; and, • An evening reception in Dublin hosted by the Canadian Ambassador to Ireland and the Canadian Embassy in Dublin.
The recruitment mission provides employers with an opportunity to better understand the process of successfully relocating skilled workers to Newfoundland and Labrador. As well, skilled workers in Ireland will get a detailed picture of this province’s extensive employment opportunities, rich culture and exceptional quality of life. Space for this event is limited to 15 companies that can demonstrate that they have explored and utilized all local labour market opportunities. This will be determined through the completion of a job vacancy assessment form which will demonstrate that employers made full efforts to hire locally. Employers will also be required to provide detailed job descriptions for preadvertising and job matching purposes.
Selected employers are required to pay for travel expenses to and from Ireland, accommodation expenses and costs related to collateral and personnel. The Department of Advanced Education and Skills is responsible for venue fees, advertising and marketing, administration fees, and booth set-up.
