The Community Mourns the Loss of an Amazing Man! If I’ve learned one thing about life, it’s that it just isn’t fair. Sometimes the best people in this world are taken away far too soon. Such is the case with the tragic and sudden loss of Tampa resident and local business owner Alex Cooks. One of the most amazing, caring, kind-hearted people I have ever met, Alex had

a heart like none other, with a love and generosity that knew no limits! A husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a mentor and a local hero, Alex has touched the hearts of thousands upon thousands of people over the years. He had a smile that could light up a room and a vivacious person-

Christmas in July Donation Drive – Help Bring Comfort and Joy to Hospitalized Kids Christmas in July is a monthlong, community-wide fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Every year, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation aids corporations, local businesses, civic organizations, and individuals in bringing some mid-year holiday cheer to the kids that need it most. Share your Accomplishments On Friday, July 31, from 7am1pm, all of the community partners, sponsors, and donors will come together to celebrate their month-long fundraising efforts. Local media Magic 94.9 and Fox 13 will broadcast live as local businesses and individuals share in the joy of giving; patients have a

special visit from Santa, and volunteers help collect toy and monetary donations from community members. What are they raising funds for? Health care settings are often stressful and frightening experiences for children and families. Providing recreation, developmental play, and play therapy gives kids strategies for coping and bring a momentary escape from their illness. It is through generous community support, and events like Christmas in July, that St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is able to provide these services that dramatically alter a child’s hospital experience. How do I get involved? There are several options for event involvement, including online team fundraising, corporate sponsorship, hosting or attending events in the community, or making a donation directly to St.

Titan Medical Center’s Doctors Want to Help You Gain Vitality By Matt Selby Many have heard phrases from family and friends like, “It’s normal and comes with age,” or, “You’re getting older, there’s nothing you can do about it.” But some of us refuse to accept what others consider “normal.” What if we didn’t have to feel our age? What does feeling your age even mean anyway? Let’s just say you’re feeling fatigued, with a lack of strength and non-existent sex drive, you could let someone tell you it’s your age, or you can turn to the doctors at Titan Medical Center, with two convenient locations in Tampa and including one right here in South Tampa. Up until recently, there has never been a solid treatment that addresses the reasons people start to feel weak and fatigued with age. Luckily, these days, feeling tired, unmotivated and weak can be a choice, not a miserable reality. You can be 50 but feel like you did at 30 or even younger! Sadly, some people at 30 or younger already have these symptoms. Nobody knows for sure

why hormones in our bodies are decreasing at an even faster rate than ever before but many theories point to pollution and the antibiotic- infused food industry. Whatever the reason, Titan Medical Center is here to help! Titan Medical Center is here to provide an enhanced quality of life for all of their patients in a comfortable, family-oriented setting. Owners, business partners and husband-and-wife team, John and Sharisse Tsikouris are local residents who understand the importance of not only looking better but feeling better as well. The doctors at Titan say, “Just because you’re getting older, doesn’t mean you have to look and feel older. We have the ability to safely and effectively slow and even reverse many of the negative side effects associated with the aging process. Titan Medical’s Doctors are some of the most knowledgeable and trusted in the industry!” HRT TREATMENTS Titan Medical Center can help you achieve a healthy body and mind with a plethora of treatments ranging

from hormone replacement therapy to some of the most advanced, cutting edge vitamin regimens on the market today! In years past, hormone replacement therapy, also known as HRT, was kind of a gray and sometimes scary area of medicine. One of the reasons for it being scary was the lack of education and preconceived opinions on what it really is. Many people thought it had something to do with synthetic steroids while others even admit thinking the treatments were derived from cadavers. That isn’t the case at all! In fact the hormones prescribed by the doctors at Titan Medical Center are what are called “bio-identical” which means the body doesn’t see it as a foreign substance, it sees it these hormones as if created within the body. The products are actually derived from an all-natural plant base source. For men and women, a simple blood test can show exactly which hormones are out of whack and need to be treated. Testosterone replacement is one of the most popular treatments for men in the world and Titan Med-

discounts on group tickets and other great packages. The Rays certainly don’t hold back when it comes to giving back to the fans. Widely know for their fan giveaways, the Rays are always finding unique ways to thank their fans and give incentives for those who show up early to the games by giving away freebies for the first 10,000 fans that walk through their doors. Past prizes include, derby-style hats, which they gave away on Mother’s Day, bobble-head dolls, stuffed animals, and my personal favorite- DJ Kitty toques, which were a huge hit amongst fans. Sunday is Family-Fay at the Tropicana Field! A great way to incorporate everyone in your family, the Rays have brought back a returning tradition with their Family Fun Days,

which is held every Sunday they have a home game. Featuring free parking for cars with four or more passengers, giveaways for kids 14 and under, and a variety of free activities for kids on the concourse, these events provide affordable fun for the whole family – from young children to the young at heart. Extra entertainers are also provided on Sundays, including face Painters, airbrush tattoo artists, magicians, mimes, stilt walkers, jugglers and balloon artists, as well as complimentary concourse activities, courtesy of the Tampa Bay Times, such as grand slam alley, power alley batting cage, speed pitch, Raymond’s art studio and Topps make your own baseball card. After the game children will also have the opportunity to run the bases and dance around at the DJ Kitty Kid’s Party! Tampa Bay Rays – The Best of the Best! Boasting one of the best records in the league – including making the playoffs four times in the past six years – you have more reasons than ever to come watch the Rays play. In fact, the Rays have won more games since 2008 than any other team in the league, with the exception of the Yankees – who have won just a handful more, despite an astronomical $900-million spending gap between the two teams. In addition, they have accomplished five 90-win seasons in the past six years, which is more than any other team in the MLB, and quite possibly in the entire sport. So, when you go watch your home team on the Tropicana Field, you truly are

watching one of the best teams in the Nation! So Much More Than Just A Baseball Team Your local hometown baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays, have become a huge part of this community in more ways than one and as impressive as they are on the field, what they do outside of the stadium is just as amazing! Mentors, teachers, and “heroes”, the Rays organization provides much more than just athleticism and entertainment – they are community impact leaders who actively strive to make a lasting difference in the Tampa Bay area. Taking a hands-on approach to supporting the community, in addition to the Rays Baseball Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization that raises money to help support youth education development programming, the players and their wives, as well as many of the corporate employees, dedicate their time to helping individuals, families and organizations in the community through their numerous charities, volunteer programs and partnership affiliations. “We are really proud to be community impact leaders,” says Mark Fernandez, Senior Vice President of the Rays Organization. We take our responsibility seriously and are always looking to find ways to form meaningful partnerships within the community. Giving away the money is easiest part, but the most meaningful thing that we do, in addition to being an ongoing funder, is to be actively engaged in the community.”

An inspiration to our youth, the players are a true testament to the notion, that if you dream big and work hard, anything is possible. Furthermore, in all their success, they also recognize that giving back is just as important as the sport they play and that without you – their fans, their community – what they have accomplished would never have been possible; which is why they give back to the Tampa Bay area, not just to show gratitude and thanks, but because they want to make a difference in the lives of those around them! “At the end of the day, the name on the front of their jersey means more than the name on their back,” says Mark. “When people see our logo and our brand, I hope we’ve done enough for them to say, ‘that’s my team and those are my guys’. That means everything to us!” From playing on the field to volunteering in your community, the Rays truly are your hometown team! So, what are you waiting for? The season is almost over. Round up your friends and family today and come on down to the Tropicana Field to cheer on your very own Tampa Bay

Take Control of Your Financial Future with Stewardship Financial Group By Alexis Selby Whether you have a young family or are already retired, now is the right time to have a professional review your financial plan. But, as is the case for many, the hardest part is knowing where to start. With so many investment options to choose from, knowing the right places to put your money is a tricky situation and can leave you feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. So, why not leave it to the professionals at Stewardship Financial Group! With over a decade of experience, financial advisor Mathew Steward helps his clients to take control of their financial future and puts them on the right track to building the foundation for financial freedom! Following in the footsteps of his predecessors Bobby Owens and Kent Moss, Mathew took over the investment management of their practice in 2012. Together, they have a combined experience of over 125 years in the financial services industry, and working as a team, are dedicated to providing their clients with the highest level of expertise and knowledge. As owner of Stewardship Financial Group, Mathew currently operates two offices in the Tampa Bay area to better serve his clients, including one right here in Tampa. Mathew says, “It’s all about establishing good habits. My goal is to establish a plan for my client and provide them with a blueprint to help them reach their short term and long-term financial goals. I offer non-commission, fee-based planning and am not required to sell anything. I only do what is right for my client. My objective is to build a customized plan for individuals, professionals and business owners.” "Another huge factor that really sets Stewardship Financial apart, is our macro asset perspective to financial planning,” explains Mathew. “We consider every asset you own as part of your financial plan and organize the risks of those assets and structure them so that, in turn, we minimize risk, minimize taxes, maximize returns, and maximize savings.” Tax Diversification is a huge part of this. Through their macro

With over 125 years of combined experience in the financial services industry, Stewardship Financial Group is dedicated to providing their clients with the highest level of expertise and knowledge. asset approach, Mathew is able to analyze your portfolio and diversify your assets and investments to help produce retirement income that is exempt from taxes. “If done exactly how we say, when you invest your money a certain way and withdrawal it another way, you are able to cut your taxable income by up to 50%. Most people invest where their retirement income is 100% susceptible to taxes, essentially creating a tax time bomb! Do you think taxes are going down in the future? My guess is no! So wouldn’t it be a good idea to consider taxes when withdrawing money from your accounts? I can help you get more from your money and avoid the dreaded tax time bomb!” Licensed through New York Life, at Stewardship Financial you get the best of both worlds – the advantage of having the safety and security of a large corporation, while maintaining the personal, trusting experience and flexibility of a privately owned company. “I have all the products, backing and resources of New York Life, including all the credentials and professional expertise you could ask for, but by having my

own privately owned company I have the opportunity to help my clients to the very best of my ability,” says Mathew. "No one entity has all the best products and options, so having my own company gives me the flexibility to build a plan that is specific and customized to the client’s needs, wants and desires.” Mathew prides himself in building strong, long-lasting relationships with his clients, and to him, being a financial advisor means more than just handling their money. "I’m in the relationship business,” says Mathew. “I love working with people and I’m passionate about what I do. I enjoy helping my clients to understand the financial market and enjoy showing them how they can attain their financial goals - it’s usually far easier than they ever thought possible. I am their coach and their consultant, and am grateful for the opportunity to empower them. Money ties into so many different things, it can be so personal and emotional. I help to break it down so that their goals become attainable and I give them a defined direction of what it takes to meet those goals.”

Stewardship Financial Group works with people in many stages of life. Whether your goal is to prepare for retirement, pay for education, prepare for the unexpected, create a business succession plan, prepare your estate transfer, prepare for an expected inheritance, it all starts with taking the first step - talking with a financial planner! Taking into account your individual needs and concerns, Mathew will specially tailor a plan that is perfect for you; one that addresses all that you hope to accomplish in the future. You never know what the future may hold and what the economy will be like in 20 years, so it’s better to prepare now and have a plan for success, as opposed to waiting, at which point it might be too late. So, what are you waiting for? Mathew would love the opportunity to personally introduce himself. Feel free to reach him directly on his cell or by email.
