Paw Print Hearts is a Beacon of Hope for Local Dogs and Cats By Marcy Sanford Since May 2014, Paw Print Hearts has saved more than 300 dogs and 80 cats from being euthanized. Gigi Gauthier founded Paw Print Hearts after volunteering at the Hillsborough County Animal Shelter (HCAS), now the Pet Resource Center. She says, “While I was volunteering at HCAS, I saw many young and healthy animals being killed because there was no space left for them. After some research, I realized that there were some states where the animal shelters had space and had people who wanted to adopt dogs and cats.” Now Gigi receives phone calls from shelter volunteers when there is a dog or cat that is scheduled to be euthanized. After the call, she and the rest of the Paw Print Hearts’ volunteers spring into action to help save the animal. Gigi says that they have sent dogs and cats to Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Connecticut, but have found a shelter in Pennsylvania that truly is a life savior for Florida’s orphaned dogs and cats. “The director at the shelter is

Since founding PawPrint Hearts Animal Rescue in May 2014, Gigi Gauthier has helped save the lives of over 300 dogs and 80 cats from being euthanized. By finding them new loving homes, these dogs are given a second chance at life and the opportunity to find a forever home! originally from Lakeland, Florida, and he is able to find homes for all the pets we send him,” says Gigi. “The challenge is getting the animals there.” Gigi says that Paw Print Hearts relies on volunteers to make the 32-hour round trip to Pennsylva-

nia with a load full of furry cargo. Gigi adds, “About 2 or 3 times a month, we rent a van and one of our volunteers will drive the dogs and cats to Pennsylvania. We can usually get 25 dogs in one van with 2 cats sitting up front with the driver.”

In addition to transporting lucky rescues to a new life up north, Paw Print Hearts also finds home for dogs and cats locally and helps to rehabilitate dogs or cats that the shelter has deemed unadoptable. Gigi says, “We are not going to turn an animal away

because the shelter says they have health or behavioral issues. Most health issues are easily fixed and we have wonderful veterinarians who help us out. Many times behavior issues are due to the fact that the animal has been taken away from the only home it has ever know and stuck in a crate. They are scared and not sure what is happening to them. Usually, with a little work, their true, loving personality comes out.” Paw Print Hearts counts on its volunteers to foster the animals, or in some cases boards them at local facilities. Gigi estimates that it costs approximately $200 per dog to rescue them from death but she thinks each one is worth it. “We want to be able

Any donation helps and every dollar of the donation goes to helping the animals! Look at these faces - how could you not want to help! to help as many dogs as possible and it has been wonderful that the donations we’ve received to date have helped us rescue as many as we have,” says Gigi. “Any donation helps and every dollar of the donation goes to helping the animals.” She adds, “My mission is to rescue. Now You Have a New Opportunity to Help Save Lives! Believing Tampa Foundation is a nonprofit organization that benefits clients who attend Believing Recovery Center, an activity based exercise rehabilitation center in Tampa. They specialize in the recovery of those with Spinal Cord Injuries and other neurological impairments such as Stroke, Parkinson's Disease or Multiple Sclerosis. Believing Recovery Center, the first of its kind in the Tampa Bay area, offers a specific and dynamic program based on the concept of Neuromotor Recovery. These intense exercises bring many health benefits for the person with a neurological disorder. Using standing equipment and over ground walking help to increase bone density, improve circulation, and avoid muscular atrophy. The Functional Electrical Stimulation also used during the therapy, stimulates the central nervous system.

It allows muscle contraction, improves blood flow, and builds strength as well. Other exercises improve core strength, which allows more independence in daily life. Since insurance companies do not cover the specialized long-term therapy that activity based exercise centers offer, potential clients who are not able to afford rehabilitative therapy costs do not have the opportunity to seek recovery options that are beneficial to their well being and quality of life. Those who make a tax deductible donation will help to fund a Therapy Scholarship Program that would enable the individual to participate in a therapy program geared towards recovery. Success Story! Ricardo Costa was injured in July, 2010, after suffering a motocross accident. Costa was left a T5/T6 paraplegic, and since then has sought out many clinics, both in South America and the United States, in search of differentiated, intensive treatments. He always believed that he could recover his mobility and improve his physical condition. This was how Ricardo discovered Acreditando (Believing), one of the largest private neuromotor recovery centers in South America, which uses a methodology based on recent research into new neuroplasticity approaches and concepts that help us to continually learn through the remapping of the connections of our nerve cells. Together with his practical experience and knowledge of other programs in the USA, Ricardo, through Believing Recovery Center, has brought this expertise to Tampa. The program uses physical exercise based on scientifically proven techniques, to meet the needs and abilities of each individual client in search for a better quality of life and greater independence. Believing Recovery Center has highly qualified professionals with extensive experience both in the USA

and other countries, up to date methodologies and outstanding personal service to all those who suffer from spinal cord injuries and other neurological impairments. The target of the program is to fulfill the needs of those who are seeking differentiated and specific therapy to help recover from motor deficiency. Ricardo and his wife Aline, originally from Brazil, opened Believing Tampa Foundation in January, 2015 with the mission of helping others to enroll the Believing Recovery Center Program. The Believing Recovery Center is located at 7008 N Himes Ave. in Tampa. For more information please email aline@believingtampa.com or visit www.believingtampa.org.

Allpro uses a CAD program that actually shows you “after” pictures of your future landscape project. Pete Spiridis, owner and operator of Allpro Tree and Landscaping is a certified arborist. Pete believes that quality performance comes with working safe and smart, while utilizing the right tools for each individual job. In

order to keep up with today’s industry standards, Pete sends all team members at Allpro to regular safety and technique courses at the International Society of Arboriculture. Pete’s expectations for himself and his team are set with high standards and he strives for excellence in his work. “I started my business as a young kid right out of high school in 1997. I took over my dad’s lawn service and ran that for a number of years,” says Pete. “I thought I would like to go in a different direction, so I gave massage therapy a shot, but as I would watch maintenance crews at work outside my air-conditioned unit, I realized that I was kidding myself and my true passion was in outside, hands-on work. I shut down my massage business and purchased equipment the next day. I started mowing lawns again but also added trees and landscaping to my service and was very successful, maintaining over 400 weekly clients.” As Pete’s business grew, he recognized early on that he wanted to do more for himself and his clients. “I

wasn’t happy because I stand for something and I wasn’t reaching my full potential. My quality of life wasn’t what it should be and I let my stress take over, which in turn affected my personal life as a husband and my faith,” says Pete. “I knew that change was in order because God had bigger plans for me. In 2007, I opened up Allpro Tree and Landscaping to provide better, quality assured services. My wife and I came up with this name, Allpro, because to us it means that at we are who we say we are – All professionals, no more day laborers. You must know your area of expertise. We only focus on trees and landscaping, which sets us apart from others. I hold myself accountable to give true and honest meaning behind the name Allpro.” Pete adds, “I believe that in order to be the best, you need to gain as much knowledge in your field as possible. So in 2011, I earned the title Certified Arborist and with that title I maintain CEUs and also take the advantage of sending my team members to classes so they can be the best at

what they do. I am only as good as my team, so I make sure they are the best.” Team members at Allpro Tree and Landscaping are always in recognizable uniforms, so you can know exactly who is working on the job! Fully licensed and insured, Allpro Tree and Landscaping is dedicated to providing clients with the best service possible in a way that doesn’t harm you, your yard or the trees they are working with. Pete takes every step to ensure that he and his team are the professionals who do it all and do it the best when it comes to tree and landscaping services. When hiring a tree and landscaping service, working with a certified arborist is the smart way to go. Improperly pruned trees are at risk for disease, which can lead to them having to be removed. Trees and a beautifully landscaped yard add value to your home and business. We are all so lucky to live in tropical Florida, where we can enjoy plants and lush trees year round. From tropical palms and citrus trees to the glorious southern

Before live oak and towering pine trees, Certified Arborist Pete Spiridis of Allpro has the knowledge to keep your Florida landscape looking its best. Allpro was chosen as the Super Service Award Winner for Angie’s List customers in 2013. This award is highly prestigious and is only given to the top five percent of companies chosen by Angie’s List as earning the Super Service title. Ken H. of Tarpon Springs says, “Pete is very professional. We called several tree services and Allpro’s pricing was the best. Pete was also the most professional. He got all the permits needed for the work we needed done. Pete was on the job site the entire time, working right alongside his team. His equipment is adequate to

get any job done, small or large. The team cleaned up all debris and left our yard looking great!” Another satisfied client, Armand says, “Allpro owner Pete and his crew removed one large oak using a crane, removed three smaller trees and included stump grinding as part of their services. One of the oaks was overhanging over the garage roof and was raised and trimmed by the crew to open up space. My backyard oak was also trimmed. Pete prepped the yard for new sod and installed new St. Augustine sod after removing piles of block, brick and small trees. The sod provided was the best I have seen after two re-sodding projects. All the work was completed in two days and cleaned up, including a freshly pres-

sure washed driveway. Overall the work was excellent and professional. I will be using Allpro again!” The Allpro team can help you before and after big storms by helping you in finding dangerous limbs that may harm your home or even coming by after a storm to help you clean up. Pete is all about safety and works to protect you and your family from instances that could possibly be harmful. He takes precautionary measures and with Hurricane season right around the corner, it’s best to be preventative rather than reactive! Allpro is rated as a top professional tree and landscaping service throughout the Tampa Bay area. Christine says, “The crew shows up on time, working quickly and efficiently to finish a job. I

am very pleased with Allpro’s professionalism and service!” Whether you are in need of a specialized arborist’s opinion, landscaping design, clean-up services or tree/debris removal – Allpro’s pro attitude and services are the best you can get! Pete says, “When you have a tree to be trimmed, make sure the tree service you are hiring loves that tree as much as you do! Hire a certified arborist, not some doorknocker claiming to give you a deal. You will get the best with Allpro!” To contact Allpro Tree and Landscaping for an estimate, please call Pete at (813) 244-9234 or (727) 409-3315. “Warren Ring” Continued from page 1 “My favorite part about what I do is working with the customer,” says Warren. “I do this professionally and I do it to a very high standard. My goal is ultimately to help my buyers find the best house to suit their needs and for my sellers to net the greatest value for their home. The end result to that is a happy customer, which is part of why I am not solely about the transaction but more about the relationship.” Born and raised in Ireland, Warren was brought up with a strong set of core values, which he holds very dear to his heart. These core values, coupled with his vivacious personality and innate ability to get along with others, have been major contributors to his continued success. “Buying or selling a home is one of the most important transactions in the lives of many people,” says Warren. “Because of that, it is important that you work with someone you trust and feel is a market expert with integrity. People trust me with their most-valuable asset. It's a responsibility I take very seriously. I know that their success is my success.”

18

MARCH 2015

With a solid background in real estate, Warren’s passion for the market came about many decades ago, when he bought his first investment properties in Europe. From there, his love of real estate only grew and after taking his father’s advice – “If you ever get an opportunity to do something else in your life go for it, because you never know how long you are going to live” – Warren decided it was time for a change and moved to the United States in 2010 to set up home in the Tampa area. He had previously spent 18 years working with the US Military in Germany - UK Middle East and various other overseas operational locations and has since rekindled many relationships with previous clients who now reside in the Tampa area. “I came to America wanting to start from the bottom and learn everything about the U.S. real estate market; to master that trade and know every dynamic about it so I could confidently represent buyers and sellers respectively” says Warren. “I did a lot of research about the Tampa Bay area

Realtor Warren Ring and finally settled in Westchase. I partnered up with well-known Colts Youth Football coach and Realtor Archie Campbell and joined the Re/Max Action First Brokerage in Westchase. Westchase is a very dynamic, viable, young area with many entrepreneurial business owners who I want to do business with. It is very multicultural, and that is very attractive to me. I am a firm believer that the Tampa market is one of the best

places to grow and to live.” Partnering together, Warren and Archie are experts in the 33626 zip code, as well as the Eagles neighborhood. By targeting a specific area, they have learned everything there is to know, allowing them to help each client with the highest level of knowledge and expertise. Warren says, “We are very familiar with the area so when someone comes with specific needs we

what you’re looking for!” From single-family homes, to huge investment portfolios, no transaction is too big or too small for Realtor Warren Ring, and no matter what the price of the transaction is, Warren will always give you the same amount of quality attention. The Olive Tree is Your Local Source for Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Balsamics! By Alexis Selby As an Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil boutique The Olive Tree is your local source for the freshest and finest extra virgin olive oils and balsamics available in the world today. Vastly different from what you are accustomed to in the grocery store, Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil utilizes the highest quality standards and each single olive can be traced back to the tree it came from. Before visiting the Olive Tree and speaking with proprietor and olive oil connoisseur Donna Michael Woelfel, I had no idea that olive oil could go bad. Donna sat me down and took the time to educate me, talking about the significance in using fresh oil and the differences between extra virgin olive oil and other basic olive oils. “Most people don’t realize that olive oil has a shelf life, and like fruit juice, can go bad,” says Donna. “Part of

(R) After my visit to The Olive Tree, I made a fabulous dinner using their fresh oils and balsamics and the difference in taste was remarkable! I will never go back to using regular oils again! what we do here is educating; because that’s really important.” “What makes us really unique is that we not only get oils from coun-

fresh oils from that part of the world early in the year. In the southern hemisphere they begin to harvest and crush April through June, so we will get oils from that region towards the middle end of the year.” By alternating between the two hemispheres, The Olive Tree has the ability to provide the freshest, most delicious olive oils all year round. As a Veronica Foods distributor, you know quality is a guarantee. Dealing directly with the farmers, they eliminate the middleman, and focus more on quality, versus quantity. “We pick early and harvest early and crush within 2-3 hours of being picked,” says Donna. Whether you love to cook, or love to eat (or both), I think we can all agree that everyone can appreciate a meal that is masterfully prepared. And, when you prepare that meal using a really good high quality extra virgin olive oil, the difference in taste truly is remarkable. Donna says, “I have converted a lot of people; once you start using fresh oils you never go back.” A stylish boutique, located in West Park Village, The Olive Tree offers a wonderful array of Ultra Pre-

mium extra virgin olive oils, including a variety of infused and fused flavored oils, as well as an excellent selection of flavored balsamics, imported Italian pastas, sea salts and seasonings, pepper jellies, crockery, dipping dishes, bread boards and so much more. “We try to offer items that perfectly accompany our olive oils and are always looking for new items that tie in perfectly with what we already offer,” says Donna. Just in, they now offer a fabulous beauty care line as well, including soaps, bath gels, sea salts, night and day creams, shampoo and conditioner, and so much more. Donna says, “All of our beauty products are 100% natural, made from the purest form of olive oils.” The Olive Tree is located in the West Park Village Shops at 10115 Montague St in Tampa. They recently expanded their hours during holiday season and are now open Mon. – Fri. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sun. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. For more information please call (813) 9204781 or visit www.TheOliveTreeStore.com.
