Dr. Bartley Kerr, Founder and CEO of National Rejuvenation Centers (NRC) in Palm Harbor proudly announces the opening of NRC’s amazing new space in Palm Harbor. Located in the same plaza just a couple of doors down from NRC’s original location on US 19 N, the newly renovated space offers a completely different vibe than the typical “medical office” ambiance of the prior office. Dr. Kerr feels like it will be a much better fit for NRC’s clients, who aren’t sick at all; rather, they are individuals looking to live the best life possible – one full of health, youthful energy and zest. “We want people to come in to an environment that compliments the eventual state of our

patients. The new NRC is a relaxed, elegant and uplifting place to be; a healthy place, not a sickness place. We want patients to have the best experience they can possibly have. They know they are paying me for an “A” and it is my responsibility to give it to them.” Dr. Kerr is helping NRC’s patients to gain a renewed zest for life through hormone optimization through bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. “Hormone optimization is much better than just balancing your hormones,” explains Dr. Kerr. “We want to be able to look at our patients’ blood work, put our hand over the age, and think ‘this must be a person in their 20s’ no matter their age,” says

Writing about the people who receive Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award always is inspiring, but this latest recipient truly humbled me and I believe Dr. Amir Shirmohammad (Dr. Shirmo) and Dr. Stephanie Eldridge at Trinity Family Physicians feel the same way. Fourteen-year-old Amanda Moore is an A student at Gulf High School, a volleyball player on her school’s team, a junior league bowler, and a philanthropist with a heart that will bowl you over! Selling candy at the local bowling alley, Amanda has raised more than $10,000 over the past four years, and every cent goes to helping families in need through her partnership with Pasco Kids First. This young lady is so impressive in her quest to help others that we hope reading her story will inspire you to make the effort to help Amanda help Pasco Kids First, and to give – even if it is just a little, because so many people have so little. So how does an ordinary child do something extraordinary? One box of candy at a time, that’s how. Amanda and her mom Amy love to bowl and both are on leagues, so Lane Glo on Old County Road 54 in New Port Richey is kind of a second home for them. Four years ago, young Amanda started selling candy bars for $1 each at Lane Glo to raise money for a tournament. Soon she’d sold enough boxes of candy (at a profit of $12 per box) to cover her costs. Amanda’s mom Amy recalls, “When we showed up withSee “Amanda” on page 22.

Discover Faith, Community & Fellowship at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Palm Harbor By Julie Kanehl Faith is more than the length of a prayer, the depth of a sermon or an hour or two on a weekend. At Lutheran Church of the Resurrection the living out of their faith is planted firmly in the community around them, offering an experience that is welcoming, personal and friendly. With opportunities for worship on Saturdays and Sundays and a plethora of activities going on throughout the week, many people call Lutheran Church of the Resurrection their home church. Located at 1555 Windmill Pointe Rd. in Palm Harbor, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (LCR, the church with the big lighted cross) has been a staple in our area for over 35 years, welcoming the people of our neighborhood to church services, community events (such as Paws for Praise Pet Blessing, Mardi Gras Pancake Suppers & the LCR Silent Auction & Benefit Concert), meetings, holiday gather-

ings, weekly community meals and more. In fact, dozens of different groups meet regularly at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Many locals even voted there in the most recent election. According to Rev. Dr. David Gardner Tweed, “120 groups, organizations, HOAs, and scout and family groups gather here at LCR, and it is our goal to cultivate relationships with them, as a servant partnership in the health and well-being of the people who come here.” He adds, “Jesus came so that we may live life abundantly, so we do what we can to do that here.” Clearly a church that is based in a spirit of outreach, newcomers are not only encouraged but sincerely welcomed with open arms. There are many ministry groups to participate in, people to meet and fun to be had. LCR has a vibrant music department with 2 different praise bands, a Men’s Choir, an adult choir, a bell choir,

guest musicians and an upcoming liturgical dance ensemble. All groups welcome new members. Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is a hub of activity for members and the neighborhood! One local resident said, “I came to LCR about a year ago and was greeted with such warmth and friendliness - I kept coming back. Born and raised a Lutheran, this church embod-

ies everything I loved about the church without all the (what I felt were) silly rules of my old church. I come away each Sunday with a better understanding––Pastor Dave is an excellent teacher and his sermons are very interactive.”

A Pastor Who Listens & Cares Rev. Dr. David Gardner Tweed is a warm and welcoming pastor who

takes time to truly listen to those he meets. Whether they’ve been a member for years or are just stopping by, as I experienced him, he is one of those rare people who listens so intently to you that it makes you feel “seen.” So many people walk around with blinders on to ignore what is around them, but Pastor Dave is intent on reaching out to people and serving them however they may need to be served. Pastor Dave earned his Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Care & Counseling and specializes in spiritual development and church growth. He is a living example of how achieving advanced degrees in everything from spiritual development and church growth to counseling, family law and non-profit management can serve as a foundation for God’s call to service. He uses his vast array of knowledge as a foundation which gives him the unique ability to serve God and support the many who turn to him with advice that is not only grounded in faith, but backed by his education. Pastor Dave is a genuine and sincere person and is easy to connect with. He and his wife, Rita, are a Clergy Couple and are the parents of three adult children. One new parishioner to LCR

said, “My family found this church a few months ago. We came from Virginia…. We are proud to call Lutheran Church of the Resurrection our new church home. The people are very accepting of our daughter and her exuberant and unique way of worshiping. She is just accepted for who and how she is; it makes me grateful. Pastor Dave always has a message that is applicable in our everyday life.” Faith Through Community What is faith if it is not shared openly? In a spirit of community, the people of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection intentionally provide space to members and non-members alike. This is something that is quite unique to our area and many people are very grateful for it. It is exactly this open-door mentality and philosophy that has brought so many people together. In order to bring people together, the people of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection embrace the distinction of being a place where people gather to share life and faith, make friends, make decisions and more importantly… make memories. LCR is the home for Esther’s School, an inter-denominational private school which offers an individual-

ized educational program catering to a wide range of student academic levels and learning abilities. Known for their enthusiastic capacity for giving, the people of LCR collect food donations for local food pantries and clothing & toiletries for homeless teens, adults and domestic abuse shelters. LCR also partners with Metropolitan Ministries to serve meals at their Outreach Center in Pasco County off of Rt 19 on every 4th and 5th Tuesday of the month. One of the new ways they are opening their doors is by providing the opportunity for locals to come to eat at their Wednesday Night Out community dinners. From 3:45-6:30 p.m., LCR and Chef Joseph Arcese are serving the community by serving them dinner! For just $7, each person receives a salad, a beverage, an entrée and a dessert! This is a wonderful opportunity for people in our area to pause from all of the busy-ness of their lives to enjoy a delicious, homecooked meal. More than a meal, it’s a chance for a connection and to meet and get to know people of all ages, backgrounds and interests. Be sure to also stop by on Fridays in March and April for their Friday Fish Fry! All you can eat for $9!

Together with the other Travel Consultants at Pinnacle Travel, Kathy Bardo and Adrienne Velardi, families are not just encouraged, but celebrated. Nancy, who is a

Take The Family on an Adventure! Pinnacle’s approach to travel is spot on, because families are craving more time together and are always looking for new ways to do so. Cruising continues to be a popular way to see the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and even Alaska, but more and more families are looking for different kinds of adventure. The Travel Consultants at Pinnacle can help you put together immersive family trips that include things like hikes, bike rides, kayaking, and even camping in exotic locations! For example, Disney has a travel company called ‘Adventures by Disney’ that takes families to destinations all over the world, from Italy to Africa and everywhere in between.” Now there are even river cruises that are family oriented so multiple genera-

tions can see Europe together. Nancy said, “There are trips where the entire family can sleep out in Peru at Machu Picchu. The company will set up the tents and provide all the food, but the family gets the experience. It’s roughing it, without roughing it! Really, the options for a family trip are endless.” When asked to name their favorite cruise line, the Travel Consultants at Pinnacle said the question was impossible to answer! When pressed they explained, “Every cruise line and every ship accommodates a different type of guest! For a family, we might recommend one cruise line, but for “a foodie” another. But more importantly, what is the destination? If it’s Alaska, for example, some ships have priority at certain ports over others. If a client wants a river cruise through Europe, every line is different and can serve a different clientele. It really is not an easy question to answer, which is why we sit down with our clients to find out the details of their dream vacation so that we can make that dream a reality.” Interestingly enough, if Alaska is on the bucket list, the roundtrip cruise might not be the way to go. Nancy

asks, “Did you know that a roundtrip cruise to Alaska will only show you 1% of the state? A complete trip to Alaska should include a land portion and cruise, especially if you are only going to go there once.” Kathy adds, “Many clients are surprised at how far out reservations are being made at this time. Right now, we are booking trips many trips for 2018! Planning early always offers the most advantages for travelers. Pinnacle Travel’s goal is for you to Plan your vacation then just Pack and Go letting them handle the details in between. Whether the family is seeking adventure, a romantic getaway is in order, or it’s finally time to experience an African Safari, Pinnacle Travel is there to help you. We believe that “travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer!” Pinnacle Travel is located at 800 Tarpon Woods Blvd., Suite C-1 in Palm Harbor. Bayside Home Watch Services, LLC Makes Sure Your Return Home is Pleasant! By Kim Thomas Bayside Home Watch Services, LLC is a locally owned and operated company that provides residential home watch services for single family homes, condominiums, villas, townhouses and modular homes, as well as commercial services to realtors, banks and investors. Most of Bayside Home Watch Services’ clients are seasonal residents who want to make sure their property is being properly checked on, but clients also include those going away for any extended period of time. “We provide periodic inspections of your home to help prevent the unexpected from becoming a costly expense,” explains owner Dan Downing. “Scheduled inspections by a professional while you’re away can mean the difference between Damage and Disaster. We want to ensure your return home is a pleasant one!” Dan worked for 39 years as an executive in the banking industry providing individuals and businesses with

Dan Downing, Owner value-based solutions and has a passion for working with people and providing solutions. With so many seasonal residents in the Tampa Bay Area, which he and his wife Robin have called home since moving to East Lake in 1996, Dan saw the need for a reliable home watch service company in this area that would provide home-

owners with the comfort of knowing that their home is being cared for in their absence. “I am a firm believer that client relationships must be built on a foundation of trust and integrity, especially in a home watch business.” Seasonal residents do several things to secure their home before their depature, and they may ask a neighbor to check on things occasionally, but it’s a risk to trust someone to follow through on a favor. A better way to ensure that your property is protected while you’re away is to rely on Bayside Home Watch Services. Bill Wright said, “I have found Dan to be a solid, trustworthy and professional business owner. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family needing a home watch service in the Clearwater and Tampa Bay area.” Dan does a complete 25-point check of the properties under his care, which includes things like turning on the water and running the faucets in the house to keep the traps moist and prevent the possibility of odors coming up through the pipes. He checks for leaks and does a walk-through of every room in the house. “We check inside and outside for signs of vandalism and

infestations. Florida has a very volatile environment; in addition to bugs, rodents and other wildlife, we have lightning strikes, severe storms and heavy rains. We check for storm damage. We check the breaker box and make sure there aren’t any tripped breakers.” Following every 25-point property check, Dan sends the homeowners, by email or text, a complete customized inspection report to let them know his findings. Bayside Home Services has rates for weekly, biweekly and bimonthly, and also will customize a plan to meet a client’s specific needs. “A big part of our services is prevention,” adds Dan. “We keep a check on everything so that if anything does go wrong, we catch it in the early stages so that it doesn’t become a bigger problem for our homeowners. Upon approval of the homeowner, I will do small repairs myself, or I will use their preferred vendors and if they don’t have vendors, I have a list of trusted vendors that we rely on. We keep their keys on file, as well as the security codes for alarms. “ Dan explains how a small leak that goes unnoticed can turn into a nightmare. “In our hot summers, it can take

“Amanda” Continued from page 3 out a box of candy, people wanted to know where the candy was. I said, you mean if we show up here with more candy, you’re going to keep buying it?” Enough people said yes and the Lane Glo managers liked that it was for a good cause, so Amy decided to let Amanda keep selling candy, but with their needs met, this single mom took the opportunity to help her daughter grow in ways that a ruler can’t measure. Amy shares, “I said why don’t you use the money you make to help people? I let her know how many families we could help.” Amanda was thrilled, so Amy started searching and was referred to Becky Bennett, MHA at Pasco Kids First Children’s Advocacy Center. This is a great fit because Becky Bennett has dedicated her career and life to helping families and children in Pasco County. It was Becky who sent a press release about Amanda’s fundraising to Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles, and knowing of the Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award, I nominated Amanda. Since then I’ve

been in contact with Becky, who says of Amanda, “She is amazing! And there is so much more... just wait until you hear all of the things she does in the community not only just for us. And she is an A student and champion bowler!” “Put Your Heart Into It” Just by selling candy at the bowling alley, Amanda began sponsoring families through Pasco Kids First in 2013 and has raised more than $10,000 to help families in need. Amanda has donated coats to patients at Good Samaritan Clinic and continues to volunteer weekly at James Malowe Elementary School. She has donated to Pasco Kids First’s Lunch with Santa. Once again, this past Christmas she was able to brings gifts to three families in Pasco Kids First Healthy Families Program. help, “What can we do to help you? What do you want, Amanda?” Her candid reply, “I don’t want people to just give me money, I want people to put their heart into it.” Donations Accepted at Trinity Family Physicians Dr. Shirmo and Dr. Eldridge are putting their hearts into it and Trinity Family Physicians’ office, located at 1817 Cypress Drive, Suite 101 in Trinity, is now a drop-off location for donations to Pasco Kids First and Amanda’s philanthropic candy sales. Also accepted are checks made out to Pasco Kids First (a non-profit so donations are tax deductible), which can be left with the front desk at Trinity Family Physicians. wear and Baby Supplies: In cases of sexual abuse, sometimes the children’s undergarments need to be taken for evidence or destroyed. Bus Passes: Used for families and teens to come to the Children’s Advocacy Center for trauma therapy appointments. Gift Cards and Journals for teens receiving counseling: Many times teens are overlooked when it comes to their personal needs and during the holidays. Child Safety Items (outlet plugs, cabinet locks, smoke detectors, etc.): Becky says, “We are actually actively looking for a donation (or funding to purchase) at least 50 door alarms for a campaign we are going to do with the Sheriff’s Office in April due to several child drowning deaths last year. Two mothers were arrested after their children died in ponds.” Checks: “Checks are always appreciated to assist us in purchasing the above when there is a need and to provide the needed therapy services to children who are not reimbursed by our state funders.” Donations also can be made online at www.PascoKidsFirst.org.

“NRC” Continued from page 1 Dr. Kerr. “We want them to look great, feel great, and mostly, we want their health profiles to be exceptional! We want them in the best shape of their lives.” NRC’s protocol of bio-identical hormone replacement combined with an exercise and healthy eating program is working for many patients of all walks of life, from men and women from their 20s to their 60s and beyond. This “triad of rejuvenation” allows NRC patients to have more energy, sleep better, have a better mood, increased libido, lose bodyfat, gain muscle and in many cases be in the best shape of their life at any age! Once a treatment reserved for the very rich, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is now affordable. NRC’s clients are diverse, from stay at home moms to CEOs, and athletes to doctors. “I’ve always been in shape and have worked out my whole life,” says Steven Mirabello, MD, who is well known throughout Tampa Bay for his expertise in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery. Less known is that

24

he is also a formidable athlete himself. An avid cyclist and NRC client, Dr. Mirabello adds, “As a sports medicine doctor, it’s very important that I stay physically fit, but as you get older it becomes more difficult. Since following Dr. Kerr’s protocol – and you have to do everything, which means eat right and exercise – I feel like I’m 30 again. If you follow Dr. Kerr’s plan with the help of bio-identical hormones, it works. My aerobic ability is amazing. I can bike 40 miles at a 22 mph pace without a problem... things I couldn’t do before. I have incredible energy. I feel 15 to 20 years younger! I had my wife go to see him and she also feels great. If you are considering this, you don’t want something that is going to make you look like a steroid freak, and Dr. Kerr does it (bio-identical HRT) the right way by bringing you back to the way you use to feel.” NRC Franchise to Open in St. Louis, MO The popularity of Dr. Kerr’s Amazon #1 best-selling book, RejuveNation: Live Healthier, Stronger and Happier through Hormone Optimization, Exercise and More, combined with the growing

number of testimonials from patients reporting life-changing results has propelled National Rejuvenation Centers into the national spotlight, making it a destination for patients seeking optimal hormonal health. In fact, a few individuals traveling from St. Louis, MO got great results, sent their friends, who got great results, and now with so many referrals coming in from St. Louis, Dr. Kerr is partnering with Dr. Mike Wittmer to open the first franchise of National Rejuvenation Centers. Dr. Mike Wittmer, former director of health centers at Logan University in St. Louis MO (and who still teaches part time) shares, “Bart was my student at chiropractic school and I’ve known him over 20 years now.” Bart shared that Dr. Wittmer not only was a mentor to him, he also is an athlete and was an Olympic weightlifter in 1980. Good health was a gift until several years ago when Dr. Wittmer suffered a debilitating spinal infection that required surgery and kept him confined to bed for a lengthy time. That’s certainly not the case anymore. Now, he enjoys teaching again and

Dr. Mike Wittmer enjoys teaching his grandsons weightlifting is your testosterone drops, you have low energy, you gain weight and fat, the fat gain helps you produce estrogen so the estrogen is going up while the testosterone is going down. do all that, it makes a huge difference!” Like his son-in-law Nick (who was featured in Dr. Kerr’s article that ran in the December 2016 publications of Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles), his two brothers, his sister-in-law, his niece, and his wife, Dr. Wittmer has benefited from NRC’s bio-identical hormone protocol. Nick’s success was instantly noticeable and his friends wanted to know his secret. “Nick has already sent five or six guys down there,” says Dr. Wittmer, acknowledging that they realized they were referring clients that they could service themselves upon opening a franchise. Early summer 2017, Dr. Wittmer, his son Jeff, and son-in-law Nick will open the doors to the first franchise location of National Rejuvenation Centers in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Wittmer is excited about the new venture. “I don’t want to retire and now I have the time and energy to do this. This has started to have a ripple effect, and Dr. Kerr has made it really easy. He has paved the way in that he has already established the protocols and the relationships. We will use the same labs and pharmacies.”

Not One-Size-Fits-All If you have noticed your workouts aren’t working, your libido or energy has dropped, or you’ve lost the spark for life that you had in younger days, Dr. Kerr and his medical team would love to meet you to see if NRC can help you gain back your zest for life! If you make an appointment, expect an in-depth consultation to make sure you are a candidate for the program and can benefit from hormone optimization. Blood work is needed every three months to make sure that hormone levels are improving as ex-

pected. And what is to be expected? Dr. Kerr says once the hormone levels optimize, “it’ll knock your socks off!” And most times that happens fast! National Rejuvenation Centers is located at 34254 US Hwy. 19 N in Palm Harbor and is open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Let Landmark Services Spoil Your Lawn Instantly Today, if we want information NOW, we simply go to the internet and look it up. Within seconds that information is at our fingertips. The information age we live in has spoiled us. Even upsetting us when we can’t find information we want IMMEDIATELY. If you have ever had soil samples taken from your property. You know they usually take weeks for results tocome in. In most cases, when soil samples are taken, there’s a reason or problem. Chances are good that you have never had your soil tested. Quite frankly it’s a pain for Lawn care services to do them. First of all you have to pull the sample, then make sure it is packaged in the right kind of package, make sure the label is filled out properly , fill out the proper forms at the office, refrigerate the sample, then get it to the postal service for mailing. In many cases overnight mail. This can also cost you quite a bit of money. Well, Landmark Services has changed all of that. This past month Landmark Services purchased it’s own laboratory equipment so that soil

Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

samples of your property can tested THAT DAY for problems that may be lingering in your soil causing your lawn to look bad. Not only are the results quick and accurate, you save a whole lot of money. We then take it one step further. The result of the testing allows us to formulate a “diet plan” for your lawn that day. Each lawn is different and requires different formulations of fertilizer. Just like people and the food we eat.For instance, I need a diet of high carbohydrates while my wife needs a high protein diet. Lawns and plants are the same as we are. They live, breath, and eat just like us. Think about it! So let’s get the right food in them. Why does Landmark use all dry, slow release fertilizers? It allows us each morning to take different blends of fertilizer based on who we visit and the lawns needs . This is just another reason why Landmark Services is truly the only CUSTOM LAWN CARE SERVICE in town. Everything we do to your lawn is determined by your lawn and no one else's. I would say it

would be impossible for those big tank trucks to make the same claim. Tank trucks provide what I call “Chicken Soup Lawn Care”. Everybody eating from the same pot whether you like it or not. We don’t just stop at customized fertilizers. We determine what type of weed, insect, and fungus controls should be applied when we get to your lawn with both liquid and dry products available to us. We DO NOT apply pesticides to areas that don’t need them. Again, that can’t be said for pre-mixed tank trucks.(aka. “Chicken Soup”). Our programs are altered for people with pesticide concerns at no extra charge. We even have organic programs at no extra charge. To top it off, all applications are applied with the owner present each and every service. Pat’s experience spans nearly forty years of national lawn care experience. Over 30 years right here in our East Lake area. “ The days of tank mixing and broadcasting pesticides all over the place are coming to an end. Over the years I

Pat Guy (left), owner & operator have witnessed our industry change in terms of tighter pesticide regulations, and application procedures. Eventually the “Chicken Soup” guys are going to have to figure out what we already know, and have been doing for years” Pat says. Please call Pat to set up a meeting with him today.
