Fifty Shades of White Fashioned after the wildly successful Le Diner En Blanc, the Temple Terrace Arts Council presents an elegant evening under the stars at the breathtakingly beautiful Woodmont Park, 415 Woodmont Avenue, Temple Terrace, April 18, from 7-11 p.m. Art en Blanc, the third annual evolution of the French picnic invented by Francois Pasquier in 1988,

will be a potpourri of all things artistic and enchanting. Guests are required to adorn themselves in shades of white from brilliant to ecru, in casual or costume style, from head to toe. Unusual awards for attire and table art encourage attendees to tap into their creative genius or collaborate with friends to deliver an unforgettable night of visual delights.

True to the original En Blanc notion, guests dine on picnic fare of their own design using their personal collection of utensils, dinnerware, and vessels. The Arts Council provides chairs, tables, linens (yes, they are white!), and entertainment. Guests who do not wish to spend their precious time in the kitchen may choose from three delicious menu selections that give a wink and a nod to our French cousins in Louisiana, by contacting the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club. Entertainment for the evening includes the Dennis Pupello Jazz Ensemble, Terry Klaaren (whose en plain air painting will be presented for purchase), a wine auction, controlled paparazzi, dancing in the moonlight, and a few secret surprises. Tables of 8=$275, Individuals=$35. The proceeds from this fundraising event are directed to the mission of the Temple Terrace Arts Council, a 501 (c) 3, not for profit organization. “Shark Tank.” Or row leisurely across Lake Lipsey. From sports to arts to academics, Corbett Prep’s CAMP IDS brims with options that will create a memorable summer for students in PreK3 through high school. The philosophy of camp is to offer opportunities to explore and enjoy as an extension of school. Camps are divided into seven weekly sessions from June 15 to July 31. A favorite in the Tampa Bay area for nearly two decades, CAMP IDS offers more than 60 full- and half-day choices on the beautiful lakeside campus of Corbett Preparatory School of IDS. Child care is available before and after camps, as is transportation to certain areas. CAMP IDS appeals to a wide variety of interests and ages. Science and technology camps provide avenues to explore coding, astronomy, marine science, paleontology, Lego engineering and even Minecraft. Communications camps put future journalists and movie-makers to work in broadcasting, Claymation, magazine and filmmaking. Academic camps take imaginative approaches as they allow students to hone reading, writing and math skills during summer break. Students can also try out new languages

during French, Chinese and Spanish camps that feature fun, culture-based activities that may involve cooking, music or art. Visual and performing arts camps showcase students’ talents. Students can immerse themselves in art from around the world or try out techniques of master artists. Recyclables, natural materials and furniture pieces get new life in other creative camps. And musicians, actors and dancers will find plenty to like about music, strings, drama, dance and musical theatre. This year, students in grades 1-8 will perform in Seussical Jr. and high school-aged students will appear in Into the Woods. Corbett Prep’s cypress-covered campus is the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities, and CAMP IDS delivers. Look around the grounds, and you’ll see campers enjoying soccer, canoeing, fishing, flag football and model rocketry. CAMP IDS also offers archery, golf, tennis, cheerleading, basketball, matball, off-campus adventures and wilderness excursions. To learn more about specific camps, download a registration form online or call (813) 9613087 to schedule a tour or for more information.

Reshape Your Body with Sleek Physique Body Contouring! By Alexis Selby Want to turn heads this summer? Give your friends something to talk about and transform your body like never before with Sleek Physique Body Contouring. Whether you are looking for a quick fix to fit into your favorite pair of jeans that have somehow “shrunk” over night, or are aiming to lose some serious inches, Sleek Physique is great for nearly any body and lifestyle and with their cutting edge technology can help you get the shape you’ve always dreamed of. Oh, and did I mention there is absolutely no down time? That’s right. With no pain, no incisions and no bruising, you can get off the table and right back to your normal routine. “The process is pain-free and non-invasive; there is no harm at all to the body,” says Gary Ohrmund, co-owner of Sleek Physique, who runs the business alongside his wife Jennifer. “It can be done one time or it can be done hundreds of times. The fat that we melt away is gone forever.” “I compare the feeling to getting a hot stone massage,” adds Jennifer.

“It’s a slight pressure and as the treatment continues it heats up the area and the fat cells. We have had several clients fall asleep during the treatment; there has even been some snoring involved. It’s very comfortable!” Developed by Body Slimming Experts in California, the Ultra Slim Plus II Platinum machine at Sleek Physique uses the latest technology in ultrasound cavitation and radio frequency treatments for removing unwanted fat and cellulite. This machine literally melts your fat away. “We destroy the fat cells themselves,” says Jennifer. “The ultra sound waves create micro bubbles, which vibrate and break the cell walls. The fat cells and the contents are then flushed out through the system naturally.” Before opening Sleek Physique, Jennifer and Gary did their research. They tested out numerous different machines, with varying levels of success. “We found that this machine produced the best results in the shortest amount of time,” says Gary. “This technology has proven to me that it works. The results speak for themselves!” Sometimes working out and diet-

ing isn’t enough, and no matter how hard you try and how much weight you lose, you can never get rid of those problem areas. This is where Sleek Physique can really be beneficial. By using a machine that specifically targets the problem areas, Jennifer and Gary are able to blast the fat and manually go after those specific fat cells that you want gone for good. By doing this, they can physically help to shape your body and bring back your natural curves. “My lower abUsing a machine that specifically targets your fat, domen just wouldn’t Sleek Physique owners Gary and Jennifer budge no matter what I Ohrmund will help melt your fat away for good! did,” writes client Stephanie. “Another company promised a ½ inch Results vary from person to perloss after six treatments and that’s exson, but so far Gary and Jennifer have actly the result I got. Sleek Physique clients have lost as much as 2 1/2 inches in just one session!

The before and after pictures speak for themselves! Another added benefit of the slimming treatments – in addition to melting away fat, the radio frequency helps tighten the skin and shrink the elastic fibers in the body. Oh, and did I mention that it prompts the body to produce more collagen fibers? Those who appreciate just how significant collagen fibers are really love this added bonus! By losing inches gradually, and in conjunction with the radio frequency that tightens the skin, your body is able to steadily adjust to the fat loss and your chances of having an abundance of left over loose skin is significantly diminished. Sleek Physique will help your body shrink back into its

natural shape! “We have had several liposuction clients who have come to us for help after their procedure,” says Jennifer. “With liposuction, it is usually a single procedure and it vacuums all the fat out and what you are left with is what you are left with; that’s it. In addition, many of these patients have scar tissue built up in the incision sights and some are left with dimples. By using the ultra sound cavitation, our treatments are able to break down the scar tissue underneath and help the skin lay a little flatter.” Treatments can be performed on a variety of body parts on both males and females. Traditionally, abdomens,

thighs, triceps, buttocks and “love handles” are the locations that individuals desire to improve, but other areas can be treated as well. Sleek Physique offers free consultations, so if you think that this is something you might be interested in, call and make an appointment today. As an added incentive to try it out, Sleek Physique is offering some great package specials. And, seeing as how there are very few people that only need one treatment, it’s much more beneficial to buy in bulk and save some money. They sell packages of 3, 6, 9 and 12 and right now they are offering a 3-pack special for only $499 and a 6-pack special for only

$899. This is a great deal, considering one treatment is normally $199 – which when you think about it, is still a very affordable alternative. So, what are you waiting for? If you are ready to get your body back, give Sleek Physique a call today! Sleek Physique Body Contouring is located at 4915 Ehrlich Road in Tampa. Their office is open Mon. – Fri. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. To accommodate your schedule they will also set appointments outside of normal business hours. For more information or to schedule a free consultation please call (813) 992-5267 or visit www.SleekPhysiqueNow.com.

The Citrus Park Rockies Make History at Citrus Park! By Alexis Selby It’s all about girl power and sisterhood for the Citrus Park Rockies, the first ever all girls t-ball team at Citrus Park. Making history, this all girls team has been working hard to prove that their team has what it takes to compete with co-ed and all-boys teams in the league. Ranging in age from 5 – 7 years old, these girls sure have heart and prove that girls can play ball too! It was the vision of mother Danielle Diaz and other parents in the area that brought this team to life. Wanting to give their daughters the same bonding experience that many of their sons got to experience by playing on an all-boys team, these parents banded together to start an all-girls team. “We started the Citrus Park Rockies with the hopes of having these girls grow together as a team throughout the years, giving them the opportunity to form that camaraderie that all- boys teams get to experience,” says Danielle. “We want our daughters to grow up and be well-rounded and know all different types of sports and not just ballet and gymnastics. Being a part of a team is a completely different experience,” adds one mom. For many of these girls, this is their first time playing a team sport, but you would never be able to tell – the way they work together as a team is really impressive and they have already began

12

to show such immense progress. On the other hand, there are quite a few girls on the team who have been around the ball field their entire lives and have already played a few seasons on a coed team. They have graciously welcomed the new girls and made them feel right at home on the field. “Half of the girls have older brothers so they are accustomed to being at the park and many have played on other coed teams,” says Danielle. “Now, it’s their turn to shine!” After talking to many of the girls, it was clear to see that they were really

happy with the opportunity. Comments ranged from “It’s really fun” and “It’s better because we get to play with all girls and no boys,” to “We get to meet new friends and play with friends from school.” Joining a team is a great way for

young girls to build their confidence, and when it comes to the Colorado Rockies they are all about positive reinforcement and proving that girls are just as good as boys when it comes to playing ball! “The coaches are so good with them,” says one mom. “The reinforcement and positivity is amazing. They are all about encouragement.” Danielle adds, “It’s important to teach these girls from a young age the importance of teamwork and for them to get out there and play against the boys to help build their confidence and egos.” With purple tie-dye socks, and can-do attitudes, the Colorado Rockies are here to prove that this season, it’s all about the girls! Watch out, because they’re here to win! By next fall the Citrus Park Rockies are planning to expand the all girls t-ball and softball program and are looking for girls ages 6 to 16 to play. For more information please contact Danielle Diaz at mommydiaz3@yahoo.com. Additional info can be found by visiting www.CitrusParksa.org.

“Panini’s” Continued from page 1 closing time at 2 a.m. Panini’s has a large indoor dining area, as well as an outdoor lounge area complete with seating and two fire pits. The outside patio will accommodate 60 people, and inside there is plenty of seating, making Panini’s the perfect choice for your next big gathering. Of course with a menu full of all-American favorites, a full bar with great drink specials, and 30 beers on tap, Panini’s Bar and Grill is perfect for lunch, dinner and late night! I took my 17-year-old, who is a lineman and weightlifter with one heck of an appetite, to Panini’s for lunch and we did what you’re supposed to do at this place – get overstuffed! Everything was delicious, the place was upbeat and everyone was happy, from the customers to the servers, and while we didn’t meet the kitchen staff – they sure did turn out great eats and fast!

From the Heart of Cleveland to Tampa Bay! Panini’s Bar and Grill opened its first restaurant in May of 1986 in the

heart of Cleveland, the Flats Entertainment District. Since then, Panini’s has grown from its original location, a late-night beer and sandwich stop, to a full-menu, casual dining restaurant with locations all over Northeast Ohio. Panini’s Bar and Grill in Westchase is the second location to open in Florida. People love the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent food at Panini’s, and with menu items that fill your tank without breaking your bank; Panini’s is a score! You might want to come for the fun, but bring your appetite! You’ll want to Get Overstuffed® with the great menu choices, including the sandwich that put Panini’s Bar and Grill on the map – first in Ohio and now in Florida – the Famous Overstuffed Sandwich™ is a masterpiece

sandwich built for the biggest of appetites. Panini’s also is known for its pizza, but there is so much more! Starters here are plentiful and will definitely whet your appetite! With choices like Spinach & Artichoke Triple Cheese Dip served with Parmesan tortilla chips, or Hummus topped with sweet pepper and artichoke tapenade served with Parmesan pita wedges and veggies, you could make a meal on appetizers! Like hand-cut fries? Panini’s has

Panini’s Famous Overstuffed Sandwich™ is a BIG deal! And in more ways than one – first of all it’s a great deal at $7.99, but it is also BIG! From Panini’s humble beginnings on the East Bank of the Flats in Downtown Cleveland back in 1986, Panini’s Bar & Grill has expanded and grown, and Clevelanders and Ohioans alike will tell you it’s because of Panini’s Overstuffed Sandwich™. The famous sandwiches are made with fresh baked Italian bread & overstuffed with hand-cut fries, signature slaw, tomato & melted provolone. You choose capicola, roast beef, corned beef, cheese steak, hard salami, tuna salad, pastrami, turkey, a cheese combo, or have it breakfaststyle with bacon, ham and egg. You can “Kick Up” any sandwich by dou-

Ballyhoo’s menu features a marvelous selection of fresh seafood, including their Caprese Sea Bass (L) and Jerk Rubbed Yellow Tail Snapper (R). What fun! Live local entertainment is offered on Friday and Saturday evenings coming from the bandstand in the back, which makes it a perfect party atmosphere! Don’t worry about being too hot or too cold – there are paddle fans and heaters to keep you comfortable. Wait, there’s more… Step down off the patio and you’ll see a rank of 5 Tiki huts in case you want to party al fresco. Ballyhoo is petfriendly, so you’ll often see folks with their dogs enjoying their time together… competing at the corn hole board out back is another outside ac-

tivity often enjoyed by patrons in the warmer weather. Mike Hayes, General Manager and Executive Chef came right out to greet me along with Manager, Linda Hess. Mike is an engaging fellow who has been with Ballyhoo in different capacities on and off for the last thirteen years. The new and varied menu is his creation and includes something for everyone, whatever your taste. He noted that, “Food preparation is made to order, so most menu items can be prepared gluten-free for those who request it.” Linda quickly added, “You

can order anything off the menu all day long (with the exception of baked potatoes, starting at 4PM).” Then when I asked about all the regulars that make this such a local favorite, Mike stated, “The current ownership has given Ballyhoo a leg up on the ability to maximize our potential within the community.” Sitting there for a short time with these two, it then became quite obvious that these folks go out of their way to make your Ballyhoo dining experience a thoroughly enjoyable one. Have a sweet tooth? Try the Sweet Potato Fries with your favorite cocktail! I’m told that folks in the know look forward to Fridays, when often times, the Grouper Rueben is featured - a hands down local favorite! You can always call ahead to find out what is on special for the day, whether it is Sea Bass, Stone Crab, Lobster, Black Grouper (that thicker, steak-like, better flavored kind), Mangrove Snapper, et al. Check out their website at Ballyhootampa.com for standard midweek specials on Snow Crab, Wings and Sauces, as well as Oysters (both steamed and on the half shell). If

you’re looking for sandwiches, soft tacos or pasta, you can choose from various fish, chicken, pork and beef offerings that are sure to please. Friday and Saturday nights are Ballyhoo’s busiest times. I came one Friday at 6PM to check things out and was amazed to see all the age groups represented. Sean and Anna Collins were happily chowing down with their two little girls, Sandie and Molly, who had already completely colored their paper table cloth with some marvelous crayoned creations, of which they were obviously very proud. Longtime diners, the two enjoyed being able to share the Ballyhoo dining experience with their daughters. Anna quipped, “The She Crab Soup here is phenomenal! It keeps me coming back.” She was right. I ordered a cup and it was outstanding. I’m thinking I should have gone for a bowl! My crew arrived, so my husband ordered us a Smoked Fish Spread for an appetizer, a long-time favorite of our good friends, Dave and Laurie Wolf. While waiting for our entrees including the scrumptious Jerk Rubbed Yellow Tail Snapper and Caprese Sea Bass Specials to be prepared, we chatted and feasted, recalling old times at Ballyhoo with smiles. Few

words were spoken after our meals were brought to the table all at once, since there was some serious eating going on! That is a testament to how delicious everything looked and tasted, as well as to how well-prepared each dish was. We simply could not put down our forks! Even the vegetables were delectable… and just how often is that the case? I enjoyed every last bite and had no room for dessert. Alas, we’ll have to save that for another day. Ballyhoo is a vibrant and accommodating establishment that offers fantastic food and drink in a fun-filled

atmosphere where there are no limits on creativity. Come on in and join the fun with the personable bar and wait staff, along with Mike and Linda anytime! I certainly enjoyed my visits. Hope to see you there soon! Ballyhoo Grill Tampa is located on the corner of Ehrlich Road and Gunn Hwy. at 7604 Ehrlich Road in Tampa. The restaurant is open Sun. – Thurs. 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Fri. and Sat. 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. For current specials please call (813) 792-1500, visit their website at www.BallyhooTampa.com, their Facebook page or Twitter.

By Marcy Sanford Stefan Dobrev has been improving people’s lives through dance for decades. A Bulgarian National Dance Champion, Stefan began dancing when he was 7 years old and knew at 15 that he wanted to open his own studio one day. “I competed in dance competitions all across Europe,” says

Stefan. “The first time I saw a professional dance studio in Norway, I knew that I wanted to have my own studio one day where I could teach people the joy of dancing.” Stefan’s dream has come true now with the opening of Dance Excellence Ballroom at 3730 Tampa Road in Oldsmar. If you are interested in learning how to dance socially or yearn to com-

pete on the dance floor, Dance Excellence Ballroom’s expert dance instructors will have you cha cha-ing and waltzing like a pro in no time. dance, it improves their lives in so many different ways,” says Stefan. “Not only is it great exercise, physically and mentally, but ballroom dancing also teaches you how to communicate with a partner and shows you techniques on how to work together. Dancing also builds your self-esteem and confidence. When you come to ballroom dancing classes you create new social contacts and meet new people. Once you know how to dance, no one can take that from you and it is something you can enjoy

throughout the rest of your life. We help people improve their lives and enjoy life to the fullest at Dance Excellence Ballroom.” Stefan’s route to studio ownership was not an easy one. When he first moved to the U.S. he didn’t know any English and had to work many jobs just to make ends meet. He says, “I would take any job I could find. I was living in a tiny apartment with only a table, 2 chairs and a mattress. I had the chance to go back to Bulgaria but I made up my mind that I wanted to pursue my dream.” Eventually Stefan found his way to a dance studio in St. Petersburg and began teaching students there. Along the way he learned English fluently and was the top teacher in the Southeast region for 6 years and the National top teacher for 3 years in a row. Stefan has established Dance Excellence Ballroom to cater to each student’s individual needs. All of the teachers are nationally certified and licensed and Dance Excellence Ballroom offers you the flexibility to learn in an environment that works best for you. Stefan says, “We want our students to feel comfortable at Dance Excellence Ballroom and to love coming to their lessons. All of the teachers

here care about their clients and love dancing.” Stefan and the other teachers at Dance Excellence Ballroom also compete throughout the year and participate in continuing education classes every 6 months. This helps them stay up-to-date about new dance trends and teaching methods. Dance Excellence Ballroom offers both private and group lessons. Private lessons can be tailored to your specific goals and needs. In the group lessons, you’ll still get individualized attention and instruction from professional dance teachers, but you’ll also learn how to dance in a group. At Dance Excellence, you can take les-

sons with a partner or on your own – the choice is yours! “Ballroom dancing is for everyone,” says Stefan. “You don’t have to be a superstar – but you can be if you want to. We take time to talk to our students so we know their goals. Our goal is to provide excellent service and dance lessons at all times. We want to help people learn how to dance and enjoy life.” In addition to social dancing, Dance Excellence Ballroom can help you train for competitive dancing or can teach you a dance for a special occasion like a wedding or anniversary. “We love working with couples to

help them learn dances for special occasions,” says Stefan. “They can bring us the song they want to dance to and we will create a choreographed dance just for them. It can be as simple or as elaborate as they want. We can even have group lessons for an entire wedding party to help them learn a dance or dances. Our private dance parties are a great place for the couple to practice their dance in front of a group before the big day.” “We’ve found that people come to Dance Excellence Ballroom for many different reasons,” adds Stefan. “Some come here because dancing is a form of stress relief for them; some want to learn a new hobby; and many couples come to give them something to do together and treat it as a date night. Whatever the reason our students choose to come, we are happy to improve their lives through ballroom dancing.” Dance Excellence Ballroom is located in the Oldsmar Plaza at 3730 Tampa Road, Suite 7. They are open Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information about group or private lessons or dance parties, visit www.DanceExcellenceBallroom.com or call (813) 814-0099.
