Look Younger with Let’s Face It Skin Care! By Julie Kanehl Your face makes or breaks that first impression, it covers and expresses a wide range of emotions throughout the day, gives and receives kisses from your loved ones, and is the centerpiece of every picture on your profile. Considering all of these things, how do you feel about your face, specifically your skin? While many of us spend time pampering our toes with pedicures, and our backs with massages, why do we forget to take care of the part that represents us most? As we age, it shows in our faces. That means that those little lines, spots and wrinkles are only going to get deeper and darker unless we do something about it! Let’s Face It Skin Care is located at 30669 U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor, inside the My Salon Suite, and is owned by Kristin Fox, a Licensed Esthetician. Let’s Face It Skin Care offers treatments that get results for many common skin concerns including aging skin, acne, hyper-pigmentation, sundamaged skin and sensitive skin. Kristin says, “I offer results-oriented skin care

10

treatment in a relaxed and calm environment.” Let’s Face It Skin Care is located in Suite 308 inside the My Salon Suite in Palm Harbor; here, Kristin has created a space that is welcoming, calming and peaceful. Kristin knows that everyone’s skin is different, and she takes the time to talk at length with her clients (during their complimentary consultation) about the concerns that they may have. While some are concerned with sunspots and acne, others are concerned with minimizing wrinkles and exfoliation. Whatever your concerns are, Kristin is ready to provide a solution that will have you looking and feeling your very best. She says, “I treat each client uniquely and educate them on the best treatment and daily care products for their specific skin care needs. I can teach them how to better use the products they have, or I can introduce them to the products that I use, called PCA Skin, which has been an industry leader for 25 years.” The truth is, most women have a drawer full of skin products that don’t

work, and instead spend valuable time and money working to hide their skin’s imperfections with foundation and makeup products that often only cover up the problem! Or, what’s worse, they use products that are harsh on their skin. At Let’s Face It Skin Care, Kristin individually customizes a skincare treatment program that’s as unique as you are, but more than that, she only uses products and treatments that are safe for your skin. The best part is that her treatments are all so thoroughly relaxing and peaceful that many of her clients fall asleep! Client Jessica Lenore Ozer said, “I had an amazingly relaxing, enriching and informative appointment with Kristin yesterday. She’s not only a professional skincare expert but she has unbelievable treatments that are very affordable and products to match! I was given a hydrating facial with an exfoliation customized specifically for my skin type and goals. It was educational, wonderful, and everyone should make time to do this for themselves!”

Let Kristin Fox evaluate your skin’s unique needs and help you achieve younger looking skin, healthier skin. teens that help control breakouts and one created for men, as well. After all, men tend to be the worst at protecting their skin from the environment. Kristin says, “I offer quick, easy and effective solutions to improve the overall look and health of your skin. The solutions I offer give long term results that make your skin healthy, and healthy skin is youthful and beautiful skin!” In addition to amazing facials, Let’s Face It Skin Care also offers Microcurrent Facials, often called a Natural Facelift. It’s a fantastic alternative to injections that combines microcurrent

technology and plant stem cell serums to “stimulate the bio-chemical processes that are necessary to produce healthy, radiant, youthful skin.” This 60-minute treatment is like a workout for your face and helps to revitalize your skin, lift, tone and tighten loose skin and jowl muscles, and of course diminish wrinkles! thing Kristin told me, and more. Yes I expected to be relaxed, have glowing skin and maybe just maybe look a little better when I left. What I did not expect was to see younger looking eyes and defined cheekbones the next day! Yes the next day! Amazing experience, I will be back soon.” Chemical Peels & Dermaplaning for Glowing, Youthful Skin! Let’s Face It offers the ultimate in exfoliation treatments to help diminish age spots and wrinkles, bringing out a youthful glow. “Dermaplaning is a safe, clinical exfoliating treatment that removes the outer layer of dead skin,” explains Kristin. “It strengthens and thickens the epidermis, which thins over time as we age. It treats fine lines and wrinkles to promote collagen and elastin production, helps with acne and acne scarring, brightens dull complexions and allows your skin to better absorb daily products. Temporary removal of the vellus hair or ‘peach fuzz’ is an added benefit of dermaplaning, and is oftentimes the main goal for clients wanting this treatment.” Today’s chemical peels are specially formulated for different types of skin, and are incredibly helpful for people who suffer from rosacea, have sensitive skin or have pigment disorders, sun damage and more. Kristin provides gentle chemical peels that improve the surface of the skin on your face and neck, improving the overall appearance of your skin and making you feel brand new.

Kristin says, “My chemical peels follow a progressive approach that lead to dramatic results without unnecessary or unwanted trauma to the skin or any downtime. Most people go back to work or to their lives right after their treatment, feeling rejuvenated.” Rachel Risoldi, who recently went to Let’s Face It Skin Care said, “Kristin has been very gentle and my face has not felt or looked this healthy in decades! Products are effective but not traumatic to delicate and sensitive skin. I’ve only had three sessions (only one peel, which was my first ever) in the past three months, but am already seeing a dramatic improvement in texture, pigmentation and diminishing fine lines and deep wrinkles. She is very thorough, knowledgeable and caring.” She says, “I truly care about people and I am excited about the difference that I’m making. For me, it’s a passion, and when you see the results from my skin care treatments and how healthy skin naturally glows from the inside, you’ll realize that skin care is not a want, but a need!” Let’s Face It Skin Care is located at Suite #308 of My Salon Suite in Palm Harbor, at 30669 US Hwy. 19. Hours are: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Monday; 10 a.m. –6 p.m. on Tuesday – Thursday; 9 a.m.–6 p.m. on Friday; Saturday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; closed Sunday. By Marcy Sanford Tobacco Free Florida has been helping people quit smoking since 2006. But they don’t just help individuals quit; Tobacco Free Florida has a wide variety of resources to help businesses help their employees quit smoking. Their free “Benefits to Quit Worksite Toolkit” guides business owners through the steps to help create a tobacco free workplace. When employers help their employees quit smoking it creates a healthier workplace and also has a positive effect on the business’ profitability. Each employee that becomes tobacco free reduces the health care costs for a business and increases overall productivity. When Employees Use Tobacco,

Your Profits Go Up in Smoke: According to Tobacco Free Florida, recent studies of the private-sector in the United States have suggested that employees who smoke cost businesses, on average, more than $6,000 per year when compared to non-smoking employees. This cost to Florida businesses comes primarily in the form of increased health care costs and productivity losses. On average, health care costs for your employees who smoke are up to 34 percent higher than the cost for those who do not use tobacco. Every employee who smokes can cost your business an extra $2,056 a year in medical expenses. Additionally, under the Affordable Care Act, insurers could be able to charge up to 50 percent higher premiums for tobacco

users, which may further impact your bottom line. Tobacco use is also the leading contributor to lost productive work time. Florida businesses lose an average of $4,056 per smoker every year in lost productivity. Workers who smoke at least one pack of cigarettes a day have 75 percent more lost productive time than nonsmoking workers. Just three 15-minute smoke breaks a day add up to more than a week of lost time in just one year. Employees Will Appreciate Your Support: Most people want to quit smoking, but it is incredibly hard to do so. The average person tries to quit 8 to 11 times before they are successful. Many people feel like smoking is an addiction they cannot get rid of. But with the right help, resources, and

support, smokers and tobacco uses can quit successfully. As a business owner you have the chance to help make a positive impact on your employees. Tobacco Free Florida can provide you with successful programs to create a supportive work environment and introduce your employees to proven successful ways to quit. Throughout the program, Tobacco Free Florida will help you evaluate your employees’ progress and adapt when needed. Pasco County Schools Are Tobacco Free, Your Business Can Be To: One of the largest employers in Pasco County is going tobacco free with help from Tobacco Free Florida. As of July 1, 2016, all Pasco County Schools’ campuses including all owned or leased school buildings, grounds, campuses, housing, and property (in-

cluding vehicles and buses) will be 100 percent tobacco-free. This change was a collaborative effort between Pasco County Schools, the School Health Advisory Committee, the Tobacco Free Partnership of Pasco County, and Students Working Against Tobacco. The new policy created with the help of Tobacco Free

Florida creates a supportive workplace culture for Pasco County School employees and offers them proven tobacco cessation resources to motivate them to succeed in quitting. Local Tobacco Free Florida Representative Georgia Brieck has been working with the school system for the past year, “I have served as a member of Pasco County Schools’ Employee Health and Wellness Committee. The committee has partnered with Tobacco Free Florida and the Florida Department of Health to offer resources to help employees ease into the process of becoming tobacco-free by July 2016. We know it can take multiple quit attempts before a tobacco user can successfully quit. As a committee we focus on creating a supportive environment and effective communication techniques and proving a range of cessation options and a variety of other strategies to help employees quit tobacco for good.”

East Lake Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

This past fall Pasco County Schools was awarded a Worksite Wellness Silver Award from the Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance for their commitment and dedication to providing programs to help their employees quit tobacco. Tobacco Free Florida’s Programs Are Free To Your Business: It may be difficult to know where to start, so don’t hesitate to reach out to a local Tobacco Free Florida representative. They can assist you in identifying appropriate tobacco cessation treatment services for

your business and guide you through the steps to creating a supportive workplace for employees trying to quit tobacco. Best of all their help to you is free and it can have a big impact on your business’ profits and your employees’ lives. Locals Love to Gather at Mulligans Irish Pub No Membership Required! By Kim Thomas You may have seen the Mulligans Irish Pub signs for this year’s St. Pat’s Bash, but what you may not realize is that even though Mulligans is located at Wentworth Golf Club behind the gates of the Wentworth community, it is actually open to the public and it is a great place to gather with your friends for lunch, dinner, or just drinks! Mulligans Irish Pub has an atmosphere that is fun, yet elegant! It truly is a neighborhood gathering place where everyone knows your name, or will be happy to learn it. Don’t be intimidated by the gatekeepers, they are super friendly just like everyone else on staff at Wentworth Golf Club and Mulligans Irish Pub. Every year, Mulligans Irish Pub has a packed house for St. Patrick’s Day and this year was no different with the crowd starting to show up early. More than 100 people were there by 12:30

p.m. to enjoy the Irish buffet – a feast of Irish favorites like corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, sausages, mashed potatoes and of course, plenty of green beer! Proprietor Dan Burton said, “By the end of the night we had served over 700 guests and made a lot of new friends!” The music started at noon with Scott Fallon playing everybody’s favorites, then came Mulligans’ own Mickey Lordan. Mickey has played all over Ireland and he plays Mulligans every Friday night during season. Dan adds, “At 6 p.m. we were honored to have a couple of members of the City of Dunedin Pipe Band make an appearance and play for the crowd. To close out the night, Slickside band rocked the outside patio.” If you missed the fun of the annual St. Pat’s Bash, then put it on the calendar for next year, but don’t wait to visit Mulligans. Husband and wife team, Bill Place

and Sue Lee, are the owners of Wentworth Golf Club and Crescent Oaks Golf Club, and both semi-private clubs offer affordable golf and social memberships, but are open to the public 7 days a week, and this of course, includes their restaurants. Mulligans Irish Pub Offers the Best of Both Worlds Mulligans Irish Pub, located at the clubhouse of the Wentworth Golf Club, has successfully captured the oldworld feel that any successful Irish pub worth its salt would strive for. It is the perfect place to meet with friends while you watch your favorite sports – there are nearly a dozen flat screen TVs – and what is great about Mulligans is that it is both Irish pub and a family friendly sports grill. Mulligans offers some of the most delicious Irish recipes in town, from shepherd’s pie to fish and chips, to more traditional American fare like

burgers, salads and sandwiches; there’s really something for everyone at Mulligans. Starting with breakfast sandwiches in the morning and moving to a full menu for lunch and dinner, Mulligans has delicious choices from starters to salads and gourmet burgers. There’s even a “Little Leprechauns” menu that affordably offers kids their go-to favorites. Offering seating inside, on their 1,000-sq.-ft. verandah, or in a private dining room, Mulligans is a great place

Mulligans Irish Pub at Wentworth Golf Club is open to the public and offers live music, great food, a full bar and a gorgeous view of the greens! for families to come. People love Mulligans because they can sit on the patio, relax and listen to live music. Parents can bring their kids if they want to and let them play outside on the beautiful back lawn, where they can keep an eye on them while enjoying music and socializing at the same time. Mulligans offers daily specials and a daily happy hour from 4 – 7 p.m. Kids eat free on Mondays, and on Tuesday appetizers are half-price. On

Wednesday, burgers are only $5 all day. Thursday –Sunday, you’ll find drink specials and on Friday evenings you’ll enjoy live entertainment! The bar is, of course, the centepiece of Mulligans Irish Pub, for what’s an Irish pub without Guinness on tap and Smithwick’s, Yuengling and Killian’s at the ready? Mulligans has all a great list of imports, craft beers and your American favorites too!

Medical Center of Trinity Designated Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care

Medical Center of Trinity is proud to announce that it is one of four Tampa Bay Area hospitals to receive Blue Cross and Blue Shields’ designation as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care. In an effort to help prospective parents find hospitals that deliver quality, affordable maternity care, Florida Blue announced that Brandon Regional Hospital, Citrus Memorial Hospital, Medical Center of Trinity and St. Pe-

tersburg General Hospital have been designated as some of the first hospitals to receive the Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation, a new designation under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Nearly four million babies are born in the U.S. annually, making childbirth the most common cause of hospitalization. The new Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care pro-

gram evaluates hospitals on several quality measures, including the percentage of newborns that fall into the category of early elective delivery, an ongoing concern in the medical community. Compared with babies born 39 weeks or later, early term infants face higher risks of infant death and respiratory ailments such as respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, and respiratory failure, among other conditions. These babies also have a higher rate of admission to Neonatal

Intensive Care Units. In addition, hospitals that receive a Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care designation have agreed to meet requirements that align with principles that support evidence-based practices of care. This includes initiating programs to promote successful breastfeeding as described in the BabyFriendly Hospital Initiative by BabyFriendly USA or the Mother-Friendly Hospital program by the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) through its “Ten Steps of MotherFriendly Care.” The program also evaluates hospitals on overall patient satisfaction, including a willingness to recommend the hospital to others. Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care, an expansion of the national Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, include hospitals recognized for delivering quality, affordable specialty care safely and effectively based on objective measures developed with input from the medical community. To receive a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care designation, a hospital must also meet requirements for cost efficiency. Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies across the nation

have recognized more than 650 hospitals as Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care. Hospitals recognized for these designations were assessed using a combination of publicly available quality information and cost measures derived from BCBS companies’ medical claims. Since 2006, the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program has helped patients find quality providers for their specialty care needs in the areas of bariatric surgery, cardiac care, complex and rare cancers, knee and hip replacements, spine surgery and transplants. Research shows that, compared to other facilities, those designated as Blue Distinction Centers demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes for patients. On average, Blue Distinction Centers+ are also 20 percent more cost-efficient than non-Blue Distinction Center+ designated health care facilities. For more information about the program, visit www.bcbs.com/bluedistinction. About Blue Distinction Centers Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with

input from the medical community. A local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for facilities located in its own service area; for details, contact your local Blue Plan. Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable health care. Each facility’s cost of care is evaluated using data from its local Blue Plan. Facilities in CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in two Local Blue Plans’ areas, resulting in two evaluations for cost of care; and their own local Blue Plans decide whether one or both cost of care evaluation(s) must meet BDC+ national criteria. National criteria for BDC and BDC+ are displayed on bcbs.com. Individual outcomes may vary. For details on a provider’s in-network status or your own policy’s coverage, contact your local Blue Plan and ask your provider before making an appointment. Neither the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association nor any Blue Plans are responsible for non-covered charges or other losses or damages resulting from Blue Distinction or other provider finder information or care received from Blue Distinction or other provider.

And the Award Goes To…Ann Poole of Heritage Springs Chosen for the Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award By Kim Thomas Making a difference matters, and when we hear about those very special people who tirelessly work to help others, it inspires us to do what we can to try to make a difference on an individual level. That is why local doctors and husband-and-wife team, Stephanie Eldridge, MD and Amir Shirmohammad, MD decided to come up with a way to recognize individuals who live here in Tampa Bay and make a difference for others with their Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. Neighborhood News & Lifestyles is honored to have been chosen by Trinity Family Physicians to help search for nominees and to share these inspiring stories with our readers and we are excited to announce that Ann Poole of Heritage Springs is the most recent recipient of the Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. Dr. Eldridge and Dr. “Shirmo” (as he is known to most of

26

his patients and to many Heritage Springs residents) have been a part of many fundraising events sponsored at Heritage Springs and have great respect for Ann Poole due to her work with the Special Olympics of Pasco County. Dr. Shirmo says that since he and Dr. Eldridge have been supporters of the Special Olympics (since 2008), Ann has helped to raise $20,000 a year on average, and this year, $25,500 was raised. Ann Poole, a little fireball of energy, has what I call “good vibes” and she has been a true force behind the Pasco County Special Olympics for 13 years, but she gives a lot of the credit to her neighbors at Heritage Springs. “There is just something special about the people of Heritage Springs,” says Ann. “I’ve been living there 15 years and when it comes to the Special Olympics, they open their hearts and their wallets and checkbooks!” Ann truly loves life and when she isn’t in her dancing shoes – she is a dancer with Silver Follies – she is busy with many volunteer projects. She has

definitely helped to make a difference for the Special Olympic athletes of Pasco County. In its first year, Night at the Races raised $1200 and now fifteen years later, that sum is raised to more than $25,000 and over the past 15 years, Night at the Races has given more than $240,000 to Special Olympics of Pasco County. Night at the Races, held annually in January at Heritage Springs, is the largest fundraiser for the Pasco County Special Olympics. This year’s event was attended by 270 people, and part of the proceeds raised were used to sponsor some Land O’ Lakes kids to travel to California where they will compete at the World Special Olympics! “The Special Olympics does so much for these kids,” says Dr. Shirmo. “Anne invites some of the athletes to come out and talk to the Ann Poole, Recipient of the Trinity sponsors every year, and it is always a Family Physicians Tampa Bay Making A tearjerker for everyone.” Dr. Shirmo Difference Award with and Ann shared how proud they are Dr. Amir Shirmohammad

of Elise, who has Down’s Syndrome and for years has played a big part in helping with Night at the Races. Elise spoke along with 28-year-old Mark Miller who is blind and competes in basketball and golf with the assistance of a ringing bell. Ann says, “Sometimes I go over to Seven Springs Middle School where they do a lot of practicing,” shares Ann. “I stand there in awe of these kids and the excitement they have to do this.” Another thing Ann loves about her neighbors in Heritage Springs, “They recognize our sponsors and support them!” So get your budgets in order to be part of Night at the Races in 2017 – Neighborhood News & Lifestyles will be getting back in touch with Ann later in the year and will let readers know how they can help. Dr. Shirmo said to Ann, “Dr. Eldridge and I are very excited to present you with the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award and on behalf of myself and the community, I want to thank you. Every year we have something exciting to look forward to. You inspire us and you inspire the community. If you’d like to help, email Anne Poole: annpoole925@hotmail.com.

IMPROVING SAT AND ACT SCORES: Surprises from the New SAT and why many students are now focusing on the ACT Dr. Wayne Adams SURPRISES IN THE NEW SAT EXAM: Now that the first New SAT Exam has been taken by students on March 5th, here are a few of the major surprises that students’ encountered. 1. Reading Section: almost half of the answers were what I call “terrible two’s” and vocab in context. Terrible twos are where the first question usually requires an inference, purpose, or suggestion answer, and the next question requires the student to select a part of a passage that is the best reason for the first answer. In other words, usually if you miss the first question, you miss the second. Vocab in context is where the exam gives a word in a line, and asks for another word that interprets or better fits in that context. 2. Writing Section: About half of the answers were either “grammar error recognition” (commas, verbs, and pronouns) or sequencing. The

28

surprises about sequencing (words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs) were the number of questions in this category and the range of logical thinking required. 3. Math Section: About half of all questions are from Algebra, with many of these being “long sentence questions” from 7 to 15 lines long requiring a student to write an equation or to write an equation or perform some other calculation and then to solve it. The second math section (with calculator) is particularly loaded with very long sentence questions that require a great deal of interpretation and focus for a student to answer correctly. You may also be surprised that I consider the math test with no calculator to contain more difficult questions than the math with calculator section, partly because our students have become so dependent on calculators in math. 4. Importance of the Essay. The new Essay is a combination of a rhetorical and an analysis essay from

For Ad Info 727-943-2946 • www.NNLFlorida.com

AP Language and Composition and far more difficult than the old Essay. One-third of the composite Writing and Language score is now the Essay. This is enough to make the difference in a school admitting a student or not based on relative SAT scores. As a result, I have made major additions to my SAT Prep Class tutoring. First, I have created new, proprietary handouts based on an extensive analysis of the types of questions asked in each test section and sub-section, and on their frequency. Second, I have added a 3-hour class focusing only on the Essay since it has become so much more important. This class includes many elements of writing and key definitions normally be found in AP Language and Composition classes. ACT EXAM SHIFT One surprise resulting from the New SAT Exam is that many of my students are now focusing on preparing for the ACT Exam first. This exam

APRIL 2016

is known and trusted by college admission officers, and almost all colleges will not require two SAT Subject Tests as they do if a student applies with an SAT Exam. SPRING AND SUMMER PREP CLASSES: There is still time for me to tutor students for the remaining SAT and two ACT Exams this spring. The last exam dates are SAT on June 4th, and ACT on June 11th. I tutor over the summer, with a surprising number of students and parents preferring summer tutoring so the student can focus on preparation without the normal pressures of during a school year. In this case, we prepare for the first SAT and ACT exams in the fall. Often, rising juniors use this time to prepare for both the SAT and the PSAT at the same time. combination class that saves about 15 class hours, please contact me at 727253-0639 or wwa0811@mykolab.com. For my students, I also provide a 100+ page Compendium for College that includes How to Negotiate with Colleges that has saved my students and their parents from $1,000 to $10,000 a year in college costs. Dr. Wayne Adams is one of the leading SAT and ACT tutors in the country. His students normally improve 150 – 250 points on the New SAT superscore, and 4 – 7 points on the new ACT composite. They have been admitted to eight of the top ten universities in the country, seventeen of the top twenty-five, and many schools in Florida. These schools include Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, U

Chicago, Duke, U Penn, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Notre Dame, Emory, UC Berkley, UCLA, USC, UNC (Chapel Hill), NYU, Northeastern (Boston), Boston College, Georgia Tech, Air Force and Merchant Marine Service Academies, Julliard, Penn State, LSU, Auburn, UF, U Miami, FSU, USF, UCF, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, New College of Florida, Stetson, and Palm Beach Atlantic. Many have received academic, athletic, or music scholarships. He is a former Dean of a Christian Graduate School of Business and Full Professor, and began college teaching at the University of Maryland. He has degrees and advanced studies at Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, Columbia International, and Luther Rice.

Over $44,000 Raised for Breast Cancer Contributed by Lollie Moyer The East Lake Woodlands Drive for a Cure Golf Tournament had its most successful event ever, as community and neighboring golfers turned out to play in the event. We worked very hard to raise funds in support of the Morton Plant Mease Mammography Program and the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. Both organizations will use the funds donated here in the Tampa Bay area. Over the years, the East Lake Woodlands Drive for a Cure has raised nearly $200,000 to assist in the detection, treatment and research for breast cancer. The East Lake Woodlands “Drive for a Cure” took place on February 26, 2016 at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club. Despite the brisk March winds the weather was more than cooperative. When play finished up the participants met inside for the delicious banquet, and to look over the wonderful array of items in the Chinese, silent and live auctions. All were a big success. Owner Pam Williams, says, “We are extremely competitive with the big box stores in terms of our blinds!” She adds, “If I can save my customers money in certain places, I can better help them put their money where its best showcased within their home.” You will love the great variety of choices and the personal attention at Williams Window Treatments, and you’ll be dealing directly with the owners. Pam Williams opened Williams Window Treatments fourteen years ago after working in the industry for nearly twenty years. Pam is joined by her husband Robert and son Steven; they are hands-on owners who will take care of your needs every step of the way from choosing the look you want, to measuring and installing your new window treatments or wall coverings! “We are very people-oriented,” says Pam. “Our clients like the fact

that the owner and his son do the installations. We make sure that everything fits, we install everything ourselves and we don’t use any subcontractors. And because we make so many custom treatments, we like to measure and provide a free design consultation to all of our clients.” Pam explained that motorization is big in blinds and shades. Steven and Robert are trained to professionally install all of the products that Williams Window Treatments offers. The Williams family stands behind their work and their products, and the excellent reputation of their company is worth far more to them than anything. Local Realtor Melody Meoni trusts Pam when it comes to helping her clients make the right choices when trying to sell a home. She had Pam go out and look at a home on the market with a large window that was bare. Looking at the space, which had a gorgeous open backyard and a nice tall privacy fence, Pam recommended doing nothing and leaving the window bare to fully embrace the view. Melody had thought exactly the same thing but wanted Pam’s opinion. Hearing an honest

opinion that cost a small business owner a sale, Melody said, “Pam, that is why I refer my clients to you – I tell them, ‘Pam Williams is not just out to make a sale, she is going to tell you the truth.” It’s important to Pam to help clients find what is right for them – even if it means telling them to wait.

She explains that there are times when she can see that a client isn’t quite ready to make a decision. She says, “I’ll tell them that it is okay to wait.” Every few months, new fabrics come out so if you don’t find the look you want the first time you visit, go back later and see what’s new! “I enjoy helping people choose,
