Realtor Laurie Powell Neiman Makes A Difference One Customer at a Time By Dara Tucker
Realtor Laurie Powell Neiman
Laurie Powell Neiman at Florida Luxury Realty has an unusual business philosophy – she works by the Starfish Story, originally written by Loren Eisley. In the story a young boy runs along the beach placing starfish back into the ocean as the tide recedes, so they won’t die. A man walking by explains there are hundreds of starfish, there’s no way the boy can make a difference. The boy continues to put another starfish in the ocean, and tells the man, “I made a difference to that one.” Laurie explains how she makes a difference one customer at a time, “My passion is to take care of my cus-
tomers... the most important thing (in my business) is the people. If I do a good job and accomplish my customers’ goals, then I am happy. Life is short and when I go, I want people to say, ‘She cared about me and she made a valuable impact on my life,’ and, ‘She put us first and was dedicated to us and our needs.’” Her clients truly do appreciate her efforts and one couple recently sent her a note to express their thanks, writing, “Laurie, we cannot express how wonderful and easy you made our couple of weeks leading up to the closing, as well as, the actual day of the closing. It was somewhat stressful, and bittersweet to be leaving our ‘home.’ You are a warm and caring person. We See “Laurie Neiman” on page 42

Britta, Melanoma Cancer Survivor
Did You Know May is Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month? Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the Unites States. Each year, more than 3.5 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed; that’s one in five Americans who will develop some form of the disease throughout the course of their lifetime. Get familiar with your body, noticing birthmarks, moles, blemishes and other marks, and how they usually
appear and feel. Each month during your self-screening, look for anything new, such as: • A new mole that doesn’t look like your other moles • A new skin-colored bump that’s firm to the touch • A new flaky patch of skin that’s red or darker in color (the skin patch may be slightly raised) • A sore that isn’t healing • A change in the color, size, shape or texture of a mole Like all cancers, early detection of melanoma is critical. If caught early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. If you’re going to be outside, Moffitt experts recommend these sunsafety tips: See “Moffitt” on page 48

When it comes to cancer, your treatment is a choice that can mean everything. In 2006, Britta had a suspicious mole removed from her arm. The biopsy was sent to Moffitt Cancer Center, and revealed she had an aggressive form of melanoma. Six years later, the melanoma metastasized to her pancreas and Britta trusted her specialized team at Moffitt with her treatment plan. “Nobody expected me to survive more than a few months but the clinical trial saved my life.” She knew she would receive the comprehensive and compassionate care she deserved at Moffitt. Britta shared, “I am cancer free – painting, gardening, and living a great life.” Moffitt is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehen-

The Fresh Market at Wiregrass Offers Fun and Goods for Everyone! By Kim Thomas The Fresh Market that comes to Wiregrass Mall every first and third Saturday is a great way to spend your morning! I recently visited and can’t wait to go back, but I have a few tips. Take some kind of tote bag, or even better a rolling cooler! I found so many great items at the Fresh Market that I found myself envious of the young moms with strollers where they could stash their goods under the baby. Next time, I’m leaving the notepad and camera at home, and I’m stocking up on the goods! The beautiful weather, fresh air and fun shopping are reason enough to go to the Fresh Market at Wiregrass Mall, but you’ll also love meeting the hundreds of vendors. There are so many offerings and I truly enjoyed getting to meet so many different people with their own stories to tell. From farmers who are carrying on a family legacy and entrepreneurs who are marketing new products on the weekends while they work their other jobs during the weekdays, to

artists, bakers and pet-lovers, you’ll meet wonderful people. There is stand after stand of beautiful locally grown vegetables and fruits. They will give you plastic bags if you don’t have a tote, but if you’re like me, you’ll want to buy more than you‘ll want to carry. I couldn’t resist the heirloom veggies offered from Small Town Farms – beautiful black and chocolate red bell peppers, rainbow carrots, gorgeous vine-ripened Pita Boy tomatoes, and white zucchini – that were to make up a few

fabulous meals at the Thomas house! I passed by the Live Oak Organics stand and bought the last bag of baby spinach, plus some turnips and one of my favorite snacks, sugar snap peas, which were so tender, juicy and sweet – the best I’ve ever tasted! The freshpicked strawberries were abundant, with more than one place to get them, but I picked mine up at the Parke Family Hydro Farms’ stand – they were delicious in my homemade strawberry lemonade! It smells so good at the Fresh

Market, you will want to bring your appetite because there are fantastic offerings from chocolates to artisan sausages on fresh rolls at The Sausage Factory. Nothing hits the spot on a hot day better than a handcrafted popsicle at Whatever Pops (mine was Earl Grey Tea, Lavender and Lemon – so refreshing!), and the pulled pork sandwiches at The Hogfather BBQ stand looked delicious and worth a trip back. For one dollar only, my taste buds took a trip to Paris with a deca-

dent chocolate truffle made by Richard at Cow Paddy Irish Fudge. Richard says he has customers who say they truly haven’t tasted better, not even in Paris. My family has become spoiled by my love of handmade soaps and I was happy to find a great source at the Swanson Soapworks stand. If you like pickles, you’ve got to stop by the Chill Dill booth for some of their perfectly crispy dills. My fa-
vorite was the spicy pickled carrots! Pet-lovers will love the Fresh Market’s pet-friendly atmosphere – friendly, leashed dogs are welcome – and there are great products for healthy pets. Watch out though, the Doggone Good Goodies are so healthy and doggone good that they turn mild-mannered dogs into cookies monsters! There is so much more, from homemade whoopie pies, fresh baked goods, free range eggs and roasting chickens, seafood, even plants, orchids and cut flowers. There truly is too much to name, so just hop in your car on the first and/or third Saturday of the month and check it out. Bring the whole family. Little ones can ride on the train and teens can hit the stores. It’s what I call a win-win!

Compassionate Medical Care for the Whole Body at the Vital Well-Being Center By Julie Kanehl The search for balance is more than simply managing your time, or learning a new step in yoga; balance is about using your mind, body and spirit together, which is why a lot of people love what the doctors and staff at the Vital Well-Being Center in Tarpon Springs do for their patients. Their goal is to treat the whole you, as opposed to compartmentalizing your care. Located in downtown Tarpon Springs, the Vital Well-Being Center’s goal is to maximize each person’s optimal wellness. Focusing on the interrelation of the mind, body and spirit, their approach is personal, thorough and life changing in many cases. If you’re tired of being treated like a number with your physician, and you would appreciate doctors who take the time to really get to know you, who are energized and excited about thinking outside the proverbial box, and who want to get you on the
10
road to recovery quickly, then make an appointment at the Vital Well-Being Center. The Vital Well-Being Center is a patient-centered practice that incorporates Board Certified Physicians, the latest in technology and research, and holistic therapies including chiropractic care, acupuncture and more, all under one roof. Founding their practice on the moral and fundamental principles of trust and respect between the patient and their practitioner, at the Vital Well-Being Center they change the focus from being disease oriented to wellness oriented. Instead of attacking illnesses and problems separately as is the norm in most allopathic (or traditional) practices, they look at how everything is connected! It makes a lot of sense, when you think about it! For example, if someone who has severe back problems begins to have problems with their heart, they’ll be referred to a cardiologist right away, but the cardiologist doesn’t look at the whole body; he or

she solely looks at the heart. When looking at your body holistically, an experienced practitioner may realize that the curvature of the spine could

be putting undue pressure on the heart nerve, causing a wide array of problems that a cardiologist might not be looking for traditionally. That’s the
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
difference at the Vital Well-Being Center—they look beyond the tests to the whole person, and think outside the box to find the root of the problem, to seek answers that work for each individual patient, and to focus on preventative care to keep you healthy in the future. Owner and President Laurie Chapman believes in combining the two philosophies of allopathic medicine and holistic treatments, saying, “We offer the best of both worlds. We do the most natural method of treatment and give our patients informed options.” Opening in 2011, the Vital WellBeing Center was created to educate patients about their options, to give them treatments that might not be found anywhere else, and to give them the kind of one-on-one care that every patient deserves. With roots in our area that date as far back as 1982, this state-of-the-art practice is a whole new way to experience medicine. Laurie says, “My staff is excellent, and they are very supportive. Some have been with me for twenty years.” She adds, “We want every patient to feel like they are our only patient.”
What Makes Vital Well-Being Center Different? The first thing that makes Vital Well-Being Center different is their remarkable patient focus. The first time you come in for an appointment, you can expect to spend an hour with a physician. Yes, an hour! Instead of trying to fit your entire medical history into the span of a 10-minute appointment slot, the physicians and staff at Vital Well-Being Center want to take the time to get to know you, learn about your medical history, listen to your questions and concerns, and look carefully at any current medications, test results or anything else that you may want to bring to the table. Additionally, they will give you a thorough physical, draw blood for lab work, and send you for any necessary testing. Lastly, before you leave, a Care Consultant will sit down and take the time to go over everything that the doctor said, discuss new medications, and make sure that everyone is on the same page before you leave the office. Laurie says, “Each patient is provided with a folder, a pen and paper for any notes they’d like to take, and plenty of informational material to
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
take with them.” She adds, “Everything we do here is designed to make things easier for the patient.” Wide Range of Medical Procedures & Services Integrative medicine means incorporating a myriad of options into your healthcare, including chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition assessment and supplementation, diet modification and improvement, counseling and other therapies including chelation therapy, oxidative therapy, detoxification, thermography and more. Treating a variety of conditions ranging from arthritis to thyroid disorders, heavy metal toxicity to neuropathy and chronic fatigue syndrome, Vital Well-Being Center has become a more than a doctor’s office, but a place of hope and new beginnings for many people who have been told that their current conditions could not be helped because all of the traditional remedies had been tried. Many patients have found relief through bio-identical hormone therapy specifically prescribed for their individual hormone levels. Others have found a balance through supplementation and natural medicines for
their thyroid disorders. Some patients come to the Vital Well-Being Center for aesthetic and relaxation purposes, as they offer patients additional services like massage therapy, anti-aging remedies and more all in one place. Laurie says, “We meet with patients when they come in and we take the time to pair them with the doctors here that will be best suited for them.” The Vital Well-Being Center is focused on teaming up with their patients to create a personalized plan designed to maximize each individual’s optimal vitality and wellness. If you’re looking for a group of doctors who will take the time to get to know you, be thorough and attentive, and will take a patient-centered approach to your wellbeing, then choose the Vital Well-Being Center. The Vital Well-Being Center is located at 210 South Pinellas Ave., Suite 106, in Tarpon Springs. The office is open Monday – Wednesday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–8 p.m., and closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Millian-Aire Enterprises Corporation Receives the Top Ten Dealer Award from Trane Trane Residential Solutions, a division of Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR), announced that Millian-Aire Enterprises Corporation of New Port Richey, Florida has been awarded the Top Ten Dealer Award by the North Florida Dealer Sales Office. The Top Ten Dealer Award is presented to dealers who purchase the highest dollar volume of residential and light commercial products from the North Florida DSO. Proud to be a Trane Comfort Specialist Dealer, Millian-Aire Enterprises Corporation has diligently devoted itself to installing and maintaining quality heating and cooling systems for their customers throughout the New Port Richey area. Millian-Aire is an established and experienced residential and commercial heating and air-conditioning company that has been coming to the rescue of Florida residents since 1989. The main office has been located just off of Congress in New Port Richey
since 1993, and they service all of the surrounding communities 24/7, from Spring Hill to Clearwater, Tarpon Springs to Tampa, and everywhere in between. Millian-Aire holds commercial licenses in six states, but their focus is primarily on helping local homeowners. Known for their commercials that feature four generations of the Millian family, this family-owned and operated organization is far more than a company with a cool name. President, Owner and Founder Howard Millian grew up in the air-conditioning business with his father, Michael, who moved the family to Florida in the late ‘80s to retire. When he realized he wasn’t quite ready to retire, Michael supported Howard when he decided to follow in his footsteps and open an air-conditioning company that people could really trust. That was almost 25 years ago, and today Millian-Aire is one of the most well respected businesses in town. Back then, Howard

If you are in need of a new airconditioner, Millian-Aire is proud to offer six levels of Trane equipment. Howard says, “We have been a Trane dealer for twelve years and we prefer them because of the quality of their equipment, but the main reason we stay with them is the customer service that they help us provide the customer after the sale. They don’t forget about their customers, and neither do we.” Be a Millian-Aire Club Member! Millian-Aire has a customer mem-

Integrity Garage Door Service, Previously Discount Garage Door Services, is the Same Family-Owned, Family-Trusted Company By Katie Thomas Integrity Garage Door Service is the new name of Discount Garage Door Services, a well-known and respected, licensed and insured familyowned business that has been serving Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco Counties since 1982, providing prompt, reliable service and helping with every garage door need, from repairs and parts, to complete replacements and installations. Owners Michael and Rosanne Manning and their son Jason are longtime Palm Harbor residents – Michael and Rosanne have been here nearly 40 years, raised Jason here, and built their business here. The Manning family set a high standard of integrity in their work, which is why they decided on a name change that would reflect their commitment. Jason explains, “We are changing our name to Integrity Garage Door Service to avoid confusion with other garage door companies and we feel that the
26
name more accurately portrays our company.” The family works together to run every aspect of their business and has built a solid reputation on the oldfashioned values of respect, honesty, exceptional service and quality products. This family owned and operated business also is family-trusted. I know because when my parents needed new garage doors, my mom knew exactly who to call. Kim Thomas says, “I met Michael, Rosanne and Jason Manning back in 2009 when Neighborhood News & Lifestyles first ran an article for them. I was impressed with the great work ethic and care for their customers they had. Michael was teaching Jason the business back then and he was such an impressive teen. Here it is nearly six years later, and when we needed new garage doors, I knew I could trust Michael and Jason to install a great product at a very fair price. Over the years, they have continued to advertise with Neighborhood

News & Lifestyles and we’ve never heard anything but good feedback from their customers. Jason still has impeccable manners and workmanship, but no longer a teen, he is now a young man taking a lead role in the family business. I spoke with Michael who came out and met with my husband. Jason came and installed our new garage doors, and did an excellent job. He left the area completely clean, taking all of the debris from the old doors away.” Michael brings more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry to Discount Garage Door Services, now Integrity Garage Door Service, and, as in the best of family-owned businesses, Michael has spent years teaching Jason everything he needs to know to not only provide great service to their customers but also to eventually take over the family business. Jason has already accumulated nine years of experience in repairing, replacing and installing garage doors,

Jason Manning but looks forward to finding ways to reach even more customers and says he is great excited about the prospect of eventually running the business. When you call Integrity Garage Door Service, you always speak to an owner, usually Michael or Rosanne,

as Jason is usually out on jobs. The company believes in connecting with customers right from the start. “Our first interaction with the customer is over the phone,” says Jason. “That’s where our customers tell me they’ve made their final decision to go with us based on how satisfied they are with Michael (my father) over the phone. From there I will go out and meet the customer in person. I offer explanations and share knowledge with the customer about garage
doors and how they work. From there we will discuss different ways to rectify the situation based on their budget and expectations. After the repair is over and everyone is happy, we return yearly to inspect and service the garage door to ensure optimal operation.” Keep Your Garage Doors Working Properly and Safely Many homeowners use their garage doors more than they use their
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
front door and they don’t even realize it, until they need a repair. Most of Integrity Garage Door Service’s customers need repair work rather than replacement. Michael says, “Many of the bigger franchise companies in the industry will come to your home and try to sell you a new garage door. We repair the door if possible, which will save you time and money.” Most garage doors break because of faulty springs, which also can be quite dangerous. Integrity Garage Door Service uses only highest quality products in the industry. Michael says, “We only use springs made in the USA, which come with a lifetime replacement from the manufacturers. When we replace garage door springs our customers basically never have to worry about replacing their springs again.” The safest springs are torsion springs, which Integrity Garage Door Service can install for you. Extension springs do not wear equally and can be a major hazard if they break; torsion springs, on the other hand, wear equally on both sides and provide vibration control, which makes your garage door much quieter, and much safer! Integrity Garage Door Service
provides same-day service and they have a flat-rate fee including weekends and holidays. The company offers free service calls with a repair. Right now, Integrity Garage Door Service is offering $75 off a repair, $100 off a single door and $200 off a double door! Integrity Garage Door Service, previously Discount Garage Door Services, is open seven days a week, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., and can be reached at 727-504-4948. IMPROVING SAT AND ACT SCORES By Dr. Wayne Adams A Quick Reminder … the last SAT Exam before summer is June 6th, and the last ACT Exam is June 13th. If you want your student to be ready for either or both of these exams, call me. If you prefer tutoring over the summer when your student can focus apart from the ongoing time requirements of school, I have summer classes and work around vacations and other special events. In The Meantime … I thought you would be interested in the following “surprising experience” and how this ties into the futures of our high school students. A Surprising Experience Occurred Recently … when I gave “baseline ACT Exams” for Reading and for Math to the younger brother (call him Fred) of one of my ongoing SAT and ACT Prep Class students in a private high school in the Tampa Bay area. Fred is a sophomore at a high school in Alberta, Canada. He scored in the top 10th percentile for each exam (a “30” in Reading and a high
32
“27” in math) with no preparation. Fred is an American whose parents work in Calgary with a major international company. When we talked about the Canadian high school system, it was easy to see why it is ranked far higher than ours in the US. A Growing Concern For All Of Us … must be how American education continues to fall behind compared to students in other parts of the world. The most recent OECD results show that the US ranks 19th in reading (falling from 9th in 2009), 27th in math (falling from 9th in 2009) and one notch above Spain if that is comforting, and 23rd in science (falling from 18th in 2009). In another recent international evaluation of how well US college graduates are prepared with the skills required by employers, the US ranked next to last. In fact, three countries ranked higher than the US college graduates for graduates of their high school programs. One Major Result is … more large companies are using non-US workers to fill highly skilled jobs where they deem Americans are not quali-

fied. 172,500 H1b applications were approved by the US Government last year for Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, and offshore consulting companies taking US business. This year, the immigration bill passed by the Senate would add almost 100,000 more H1b visas, increasing the total to 272,500 jobs. Microsoft has said that if the ceiling is not raised, they will ship more white-collar jobs overseas. This Means Fewer And Fewer White Collar Jobs … will be available for today’s high school students after college because major employers know that American students are not competitive with their educational and job abilities compared to offshore sources. Today, there are about 350,000 new jobs that require college preparation for about 1 million new college gradu-

ates. Is it any wonder that about half of college graduates over the past five years are living at home and either unemployed or underemployed? If the Senate bill passes, 272,500 jobs will be H-1b’s not for Americans. Even worse is that our educational spiral continues downward into the depths. This Underscores The Importance Of The SAT And ACT … as key parts of high school students being able to go to the best possible college and be in the “top-third” of people who get the new jobs that re-

quire college preparation - not the “two-thirds” who work at fast food stores or can’t find a job. My experience is that our students are bright and definitely can learn; but for these exams they write poor essays, have extremely inadequate recognition and working vocabularies, poor basic math skills (arithmetic, algebra, geometry for the SAT and additionally trigonometry for the ACT), and science reading/reasoning skills are usually low. When Asked What I Do … my answer is that I help my students prepare for their best possible futures, which includes doing their best on the SAT and ACT Exams. We cover many “life-lessons” in our classes, learn “how to learn,” and a great part of what I do helps the students and parents in making college evaluations and decisions. If You Would Like To Talk More About How I Can Help Your Student … for the last SAT and ACT Exams in June or over the summer, please contact me at 727-253-0639 or wwa0811@gmail.com. Dr. Wayne Adams is one of the leading SAT and ACT tutors in the
country. His students normally improve 200 – 350 points on the SAT superscore, and 4 – 7 points on the ACT composite. They have been admitted to eight of the top ten universities in the country, fifteen of the top twenty-five, and many schools in Florida. These schools include Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, U Chicago, Duke, U Penn, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Notre Dame, Emory, UC Berkley, UCLA, USC, UNC (Chapel Hill), NYU, Northeastern (Boston), Boston College, Georgia Tech, Air Force and Merchant Marine Service Academies, Penn State, LSU, Auburn, UF, U Miami, FSU, USF, UCF, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, New College of Florida, Stetson, and Julliard – Manhattan - New England - and Berkley Conservatories of Music. Many have received academic, athletic, or music scholarships. He is a former Dean of a Graduate School of Business and Full Professor, and began college teaching at the University of Maryland in 1968. He has degrees and advanced studies at Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, Columbia International, and Luther Rice, and has been tutoring for five years.

The Montessori at Trinity Oaks Inspires a Lifelong Joy for Learning By Julie Kanehl If you want to inspire a lifelong love of learning in your child, then you may find that The Montessori at Trinity Oaks, located in the Trinity Oaks Shopping Plaza at 9941 Trinity Boulevard, near the main entrance to Foxwood, is the perfect place to start. Now enrolling children as young as two, and educating them until they begin first grade, The Montessori at Trinity Oaks is currently being built to provide a specialized curriculum based on the Montessori Method. There is a Pre-Primary, VPK and Kindergarten program for children who are between the ages of three and six, a Young Children’s Program for two- and three-year-olds, as well as before and after school care. Offering an incredible, proven approach to Pre-K and Kindergarten education provided by an educated and dedicated staff, The Montessori at Trinity Oaks is sure to become a staple for parents in our community. If you have a little one, chances are you’ve heard of Montessori; a
36
world-renowned approach to education that was started by a true visionary named Dr. Maria Montessori. Born in 1870, she defied conventions and raised the bar for women and children. In fact, you could say that she revolutionized education specifically for a child’s formative years before formal education begins. Nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize, her books, lectures and schools changed the way we looked at early education. Taking young children out of lecture-based classrooms and allowing them to move about the room, make choices with regards to activities and projects, and raising the bar as to what they can comprehend was eyeopening for the whole world, and continues to inspire and drive education today. The Montessori approach encourages hands-on activities, focused learning techniques for longer spans of time, and multi-aged classrooms. Leading the way in early-education for more than 100 years, Dr. Montessori’s techniques and materials are used around the world in many schools,

both private and public. While her approaches are often incorporated into other curriculums, Montessori schools are lead by Montessori Trained professionals who truly follow the Montessori Method of learning with the goal of allowing children to become independent thinkers who fall in love with learning, and in doing so, manifest a joy for learning that they will take with

them throughout their entire lives. Anisha and Pratik Patel founded the Montessori at Trinity Oaks in October 2014 with the goal of sharing their passion for the Montessori Method with local families. The Patels are creating a brand new, state-of-theart facility that will offer three classrooms, an activity room, a shaded patio area with tables outside for en-

joying weather on beautiful days, and a colorful playground on over an acre of land. Due to wrap up construction by the end of May, and offering Open Houses and Parent Tours all through June, July and August, the new school will offer both indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage learning, play and growth. Enrollment has already begun and The Montessori at Trinity Oaks has already enrolled many students, so don’t delay if you would like to enroll your child for the 2015-2016 school year. The first Open House is scheduled for Saturday, June 13th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - the perfect opportunity for families to come out and tour the school. Dr. Montessori said, “The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” The Montessori at Trinity Oaks will provide partial and full day programs, and parents can choose two, three or five days a week, incorporating all of the educational tools and philosophies that Dr. Montessori created. Together with the staff of experienced professionals and Lead Teachers
who are Montessori certified, the Patels are committed to providing an authentic Montessori experience for local families. The Montessori at Trinity Oaks is already being sought out by families who know what the Montessori Method can do to inspire young children to learn. Anisha Patel attended a Montessori Academy as a child along with her siblings in Michigan, and she is a perfect example of how the Montessori approach inspires a love of learning. Anisha and her sister both earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy and her brother became a physician! When Anisha and her husband Pratik, also a Pharmacist, enrolled their own children into a Montessori school it awakened a passion for sharing the educational approach with others. Anisha says, “I feel that Montessori is different from traditional education in that the child has the ability to meet their full potential, as there is no cap to learning. Each student’s curriculum is individualized to his or her unique learning level in each subject.” At The Montessori at Trinity Oaks, children will learn and grow together, learning from each other as well as from their teachers. They’ll ex-

perience time to learn and play, and instead of a fast-paced program that often leaves children over-stimulated and cranky by the end of the day, the Montessori Method encourages soft tones and more time to transition between activities. This results in students who have the focus to see things through to the end, learning and growing independently and allowing them to flourish regardless of their educational learning style or learning level. As a result of individual learning curriculums, children who attend Montessori schools often are exposed to advanced learning techniques like skip-counting and specific reading and writing skills that the majority of PreK schools don’t include in their early education curriculum. Dr. Montessori was famous for saying, “Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world.” Anisha was recently quoted as saying, “I know it’s hard for parents to leave their child with someone else while they have to go to work or be somewhere else… It is important to us that parents feel very comfortable and at ease doing so at our school. To be entrusted with someone else’s child means to us that a parent knows their
child will be respected, listened to, and cared for. It means parents have faith in us to care for their children and provide an excellent education for them, and that is the most important thing.” If you are looking for a pre-K and Kindergarten that will inspire a lifelong love of learning, one that offers a proven curriculum that will have your child more than ready for first grade, and a school that offers before and after school care in a safe, state-of-theart facility close to home, then call The Montessori at Trinity Oaks today for a tour, and stay tuned to Neighborhood News & Lifestyles for updates and Open House announcements. The Montessori at Trinity Oaks is located at 9941 Trinity Oaks Blvd. in back of the Trinity Oaks Shopping Plaza, near the main entrance of Foxwood at Tamarind Blvd. School will officially begin on August 24th in accordance with the Pasco County school calendar, and will be open Monday – Friday, 7:15 a.m.–6 p.m. To learn more, to enroll, or to schedule a school tour, please call 727-264-1340, or visit the website at www.trinityoaksmontessori.com.

We are constantly reminded – on the Internet, the TV, and even the magazines lining shelves in the checkout line – that it is beneficial to minimize clutter and organize our lives, to have open, airy spaces. Well, this is easier said than done, especially without a truck! The answer is 1-800-GOTJUNK? The company has the truck (or trucks if you really have a lot of junk!) and considers no job too big or too small. If you are looking to downsize your junk to make more room for

yourself and your family, this business is ready to help you recycle, donate, and clean out your junk! 1-800GOT-JUNK? makes the process of attaining a clutter-free home easier! Most of the time, when it comes to excess stuff, we hold on to it “just in case.” If you aren’t sure about an item, ask yourself a few questions. Have I used this in the last six months? (Or, for some of us, in the last six years?) Am I keeping this out of obligation or expectation? Do I have more than one of

these? Am I holding onto a broken item to fix one day? Is this item worth the time I spend cleaning it? Is this item worth the space it is taking up, and can I use this space for something better? If you want the simplicity of unburdening your life from unnecessary stuff, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? literally lightens your load! One of the coolest things about 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is that the company recycles and donates a lot of the items collected, so you can feel good

Just call 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and point out the items you would like to have hauled away and they take care of the rest! that your usable items will not end up in a landfill, but rather will find a new home or purpose. Troy says, “The best part of owning this business is the opportunity we have to help out in our own backyard. It has allowed us to give back to the community in a way we never dreamed. Many of the items we pick up get donated through Salvation Army, Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity.” 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has saved more than 2.4 billion pounds of junk
from the landfill, nationwide. That is absolutely incredible! Troy says, “All you have to do is point out to us what you don’t want anymore and we do the rest. From the sorting to the recycling to the hauling, we make sure your stuff ends up where it should, whether that is at a donation center for charity, the recycling center or repurposing center. We take care of it all, so you can focus on creating more space for you and family.” 1-800-GOT-JUNK? offers upfront pricing, there are never any hid-

Rachelle says, “We are truly committed to providing our customers with the best service out there with up-front rates, on-time service, professional haulers, and courteous employees.” Troy adds, “We appreciate that this community has welcomed our business, which is why we try to give back in any way we can. We have been active in various charity programs to help Hillsborough County and Pinellas County Schools, Hillsborough County Neighborhood Associations, Youths Empowered to Achieve,
Keep Hillsborough and Pinellas County Beautiful and Attention Home for abused children.” The removal of unwanted junk helps to keep our cities looking clean and beautiful and 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is the company to call to clean out the mess left from foreclosures, tenant clean-outs and other junk removal to improve the appeal of properties. “Laurie Neiman” Continued from page 1 are so blessed to have met you. I believe God places special people during our journey of life who will leave their imprint on our hearts. You, Laurie, have left yours on our hearts. May you and your family be blessed with life’s special joys.” Another of Laurie Neiman’s clients says, “Laurie was referred to me by a friend in the Real Estate industry as someone with great integrity. She said Laurie was the best in the business and would work hard to ensure my best interest. My friend was absolutely, 100 percent correct. My complicated home sale was expedited and Laurie was right there to facilitate and protect my interest at every step of the way, even negotiating with all parties to make sure sale proceeds netted a more than fair result for me while also assisting the buyer. I got lucky to find Laurie and highly recommend her. I would be happy to sing her praises and recommend Laurie to anyone she chose to assist.” Real Estate is a family tradition for Laurie. Her mother was a Realtor, one of her daughters was a Broker,

and her husband works on her team, helping put together a complete package for her customers. Laurie continued the family Real Estate tradition when she graduated from high school and started working for a Real Estate office as a closing secretary. At eighteen she got her Real Estate license and her Brokers license at twenty-two. After getting married and having two daughters she went back to college at night and obtained her B.A. in Real Estate and Management. at Florida Luxury Realty, and she knows and loves the area, too. Laurie is a native Floridian, born in St. Petersburg, just like her daughters, and moved to Pasco County in the early 1980s. She was a manager for Marie Powell and Associates Better Homes and Gardens, and in 1986 became the President of West Pasco Board of Realtors. She continues to love living and working on the West

Coast of Florida where, “The people are friendly and warm, you get more for your money, and have a great quality of life.” Laurie adds, “I care about our community and the people I serve. I find it rewarding to serve our community and help each person accomplish their Real Estate goals; whether it be sell, buy or rent, I am here for them. I serve the entire sun coast and nature coast.” When looking for a Realtor it’s important to find someone with the qualifications that meet your needs. Laurie is not only interested in making sure you have a quality home buying/selling experience, but also has the sales to back it. Last year Laurie was the top agent in Florida Luxury Realty with 102 sales, and the company was the number one company in Pasco County. She owned a successful Real Estate company with over forty agents for seventeen years, which she
sold to Prudential in 2007. In 2011 she went back into sales, and has coached and trained hundreds of Real Estate agents during the course of her career. As a seller, when you list a property with Laurie she will evaluate your home or property and work to promote it, getting the best price for your home or property. She works to have a multi-dimensional business model to help her clients gain an advantage over others on the market. Laurie works diligently; returning calls, emails and texts as soon as possible because she knows communication is vital to a good relationship and a good transaction. If you work with Laurie in buying a home or property, she talks to you to understand your needs and finds properties that match your criteria. She makes sure she knows your wants and needs, narrowing down the search to find the right

Laurie Powell Neiman of Florida Luxury Realty knows purchasing or selling your home is an enormous life decision. She believes working with
her customers is both a privilege and a responsibility, not just a sale. Trinity “GEM” Now Open To Public Every Tuesday For all women who love jewelry, heads up! The warehouse for the exclusive distributor of OTAZU jewelry in the U.S. is located right in Trinity, near Duck Slough Boulevard and State Road 54. Normally the supplier of OTAZU jewelry to upscale retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada, the warehouse opened to the public for the first time last month. While this high-end designer line usually sells for hundreds of dollars at retail stores, warehouse prices start at $10!
