Community School of the Arts Presents Beauty and the Beast A “tale as old as time” is coming to Corbett Prep as high school students prepare to stage Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with Community School of the Arts (CSA). Two casts featuring students from several high schools in the Tampa Bay area, including Corbett Prep alumni, will perform in four shows on May
20-22. The students are enrolled in the musical theatre program at CSA, which is based at Corbett Prep but open to the entire community. CSA started in 2002 to provide an outlet for creative expression for all ages from prekindergarten through adults. Classes are offered in visual art, instrumental and vocal music, drama, dance and musical theatre and include indi-
vidual and group lessons, seminars and performing opportunities. Beauty and the Beast is an enchanting story based on the animated Disney movie about the relationship that blooms between a young woman who feels trapped in her provincial town and a prince who must take the form of a beast until he can learn to love. The stage version includes the beloved songs from the movie as well as additional new music. On Broadway, the show ran for more than 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards. Audiences are invited to “be our guest” at shows at 7 p.m. May 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. May 21 and 22. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door, and all performances take place at Corbett Prep, 12015 Orange Grove Dr., Tampa. Please call (813) 9613087 for details.
