Albert Family Orthodontics Makes an Amazing Impression Without Taking Impressions!
By Julie Kanehl While we don’t think about them too much, our ears do a whole lot more than hold the glasses on our faces! They bring in a plethora of information, allowing us to understand, communicate and protect ourselves. When the hearing is affected, there could be a variety of reasons, and qualified Audiologists, like Kelly Hansen Au. D. and Nikki Goldowski, Au. D., the doctors at Trinity Hearing and Balance, can be instrumental in finding answers. The ear does so much more than listen. The inner ear is part of a network that includes your brain and your eyes, and together they control your balance. When patients experience balance issues, like vertigo, often it is an experienced Audiologist that finds the answer to their problem. Tinnitus, which is ringing in the ear(s), is another common complaint that can be comfortably treated at Trinity Hearing & Balance. Located at 8605 Easthaven Court, in the River Crossing Professional Center, Trinity Hearing & Balance is a popular choice for many people throughout the Tampa Bay Area and beyond. Making a Difference Matters to Richard Newton, Named Pasco & North Pinellas Council Ombudsman of the Year
Pasco and North Pinellas volunteers make a big difference in the lives of long-term care residents, and one such volunteer recently received much-deserved recognition from the State’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP). The Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program relies upon state-certified professional volunteers, known as ombudsmen, who advocate for the health, safety, welfare, and rights of individuals residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult family care homes. Ombudsmen work with residents, family members, administrators, and others to resolve complaints brought by, or on behalf of, long-term care residents in Florida.

Budget Blinds Continued Excellence, from Inspiration to Installation! By Marcy Sanford After 20 years in the corporate world and numerous relocations, Jim and Elaine Trotter found themselves faced with another move. Elaine said, “We realized we did not want to leave the Tampa area and owning a small business had always been a dream of ours. After a lot of research, we thought Budget Blinds would be a great fit for our goals and lifestyle, and we were right. We have been able to invest in the local community by growing a team of dedicated employees who feel the way we do giving great service, at a great value, while offering continued support, and giving back to the community which supports us.” Thanks to their hard work, dedication to customer service, and superior Budget Blinds interior design products, the Trotters have seen their list of satisfied customers grow, and also have earned a few awards along the way, including the recent distinction of having two of their three franchises, out of 1000 Budget Blinds franchises nationwide, in the top 20. Budget Blinds has earned a
10
reputation for staying up-to-date on the most current trends and styles, and for being an innovator in home décor and window coverings. Several years ago, they added the Inspired Drapes Collection to provide customers with another beautiful and affordable option. “Inspired Drapes is one of our newest brands,” Elaine explained. “Our customers had been asking for a beautiful drapery line and this is it. It is amazing. We offer a complimentary design consultation. Our style consultants will bring our fabric samples to you – just like they do with our shutters, blinds and shades. We will help you design a complete ‘dressed’ window to coordinate with your furnishings and decor.” Budget Blinds Now Offers Rugs! Now with the addition of a new line of decorative rugs, Budget Blinds is making it even easier and more affordable for you to get the designer look you want. Just like their blinds and drapes, Budget Blinds has rugs to fit every room and every budget. In addition to being available in a wide variety of beautiful patterns, colors, and styles, the rugs at Budget Blinds are available in many different sizes.

They are also happy to order a rug sample so you can see exactly how it will look in your home. Smart Home Consultants Budget Blinds has always been up-to-date with current styles and looks. With their new Smart Home by Budget Blinds product line, they are on top of the latest trends in home innovations as well. “Our franchise has been chosen as 1 of 15 initial test markets,” said Elaine. “We completed training from the team at Lutron and are now excited to bring affordable smart home solutions to the Tampa area. We have just earned our official certification as Smart Home Consultants. What this means is we have the knowledge and technology to offer our clients automated shading and lighting, and suggest compatible temperature control in their homes. In other words, at the touch of a button on a remote control or smart phone, you will be able to raise and
JULY 2016
lower your shades, turn your lights on and off, and adjust your thermostats even if you are away on vacation.” By 2020, most American homeowners will have some element of whole home automation. Budget Blinds is on the cutting edge of this trend. Imagine being awakened in the morning by natural sunlight as your blackout shades gradually rise. Or with the press of a button changing your home’s ambiance to “dinner time” mode after the sun has set. Budget Blinds is able to help their clients create their very own perfectly-smart home. As strongly as they believe in being innovators, providing the very best in home design products, Budget Blinds also believes in providing outstanding customer service. Elaine said, “Our team is committed to great customer service, wonderful design, and beautiful window coverings. We don't just sell blinds and walk away. We build a relationship with our customers backed by continued
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
support and warranties. We recently had a client who took in a foster dog several months after having us install new blinds in her home. The dog destroyed the blinds, but since she had chosen our Signature Series Blinds, we were able to replace them free of charge.” Budget Blinds offers the best warranties in the business and they stand behind their products. Since Budget Blinds has some of the strongest buying power in the industry, their manufacturers give them amazing exclusive products and warranties, such as their 5 year “no questions asked” warranty. This
exclusive warranty goes above and beyond the manufacturer’s warranty, against any defects, and gives customers an added peace of mind. If something happens to your window coverings in the first 5 years, Budget Blinds will give a free one-time replacement for that window covering no questions asked. The Trotters and Budget Blinds are also committed to supporting their community. In addition to supporting the Habitat for Humanity, Metropolitan Ministries, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and Prelude to a Cure, the Trotters and Budget Blinds support Homes For Our Troops
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
(HFOT), an organization that builds specially adapted, mortgage- free homes for severely injured Veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Corporate wide, Budget Blinds has pledged to give $1,000,000 over 3 years in products and services to HFOT. “Jim and I wanted to contribute since several HFOT homes have been awarded in the Tampa area,” said Elaine. “We started a campaign last year to contribute $1 to HFOT for every window covered and in 2015 our team was able to contribute $13,000. We will continue our campaign in 2016 and cannot wait to
see what we will be donating to our local area.” When you are ready to make changes to your home décor, contact an interior decorator innovator and business you can trust – give Budget Blinds a call. The Budget Blinds showroom at 1208 W. Fletcher Ave. is open Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sat. Do you Love Italian Food? Come to Rossi Ristorante Italiano for Lunch or Dinner! By Julie Kanehl Authentic Italian food is one of the joys of life, and knowing where they get it right makes all the difference. For thirty years, Rossi Ristorante Italiano has been serving it up authentically, while offering lunch and dinner menus that can please the whole family. We’re talking about pizza crust that invites you in like a beloved relative, and cheese that envelops you in a hug that makes all your troubles disappear. We’re talkin’ homemade sauce that’s not found on any store shelf or brought in on any truck, and chicken parmesan that is hand breaded, cooked with pride and so hot the cheese can’t wait to dissolve all over it. Traditional staples like lasagna, baked ziti, shrimp scampi, and sausage and peppers are served all day long by chefs who know what they’re doing. That’s because there’s more to this ristorante Italiano than its name, Rossi Ristorante Italiano offers delicious
14
Italian cuisine at affordable prices. Michael Sprofero said, “I Have been going here for 20 plus years! Greatest Italian food in the area!” Rossi Ristorante Italiano has actually been a part of this community for thirty years, long before Trinity was even a glint in New Port Richey’s eye! All this time, they’ve been the choice for romantic date nights, family dinners, and even private parties. Located in the Seven Springs Plaza at 7254 S.R. 54, in the same plaza as Sell’s Broadway Dance Company, Rossi Ristorante Italiano is a welcoming place that has found that elusive sweet spot that pauses between an upscale, date-worthy ristorante that serves impressive dishes with fresh ingredients, and a family-friendly place that says to bring the kids, the grandparents and the cousins, too. Their beautiful dining room is set up in a way to please both kinds of dining parties, and the staff sets a tone that is professional without being stuffy.

Owner Gabriella Rossi, an Italiannative who moved to New York with her family, and then to New Port Richey with her late husband, Nick, is an incredible woman who has brought to fruition the dream that she and

Nick had to open a restaurant that served up food to order, the way it’s supposed to be done. She says, “It amazes me that we’ve been here so long and people still say to me that we didn’t know you were here! We’re

here and we’re open for both lunch and dinner!” AJ Agazarm, a regular patron at Rossi Ristorante Italiano, said, “Talk about great Italian food! Most authentic Italian food in the Bay area. Great service, owners are incredibly friendly, and it’s been around for so many years. The pizza and Chicken Angelo are my favorite. If you haven’t eaten here, you’re missing out!”
Fresh Ingredients. Beautifully Prepared. Rossi Ristorante Italiano is unique in that it serves made-to-order, old country, culinary masterpieces, all while treating their customers like family. This is what makes Rossi Ristorante Italiano such a popular local favorite, because patrons can’t wait to come back by for their favorite meals, or to try something new, because they know it’s going to be delicious. When dining at Rossi Ristorante
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
Italiano, come hungry! Start by choosing one or two tasty choices from their antipasti menu, which offers many popular favorites like calamari, bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms, but also offers a few surprises that shouldn’t be missed! Like the Fiocchi, which are little pasta purses filled with pureed pear and a four-cheese blend, then tossed with a parmesan and brown butter herb sauce! Andrea Gilliam said, “The fiocchi is to die for! The manicotti and pizza was good, but it was going to be nearly impossible to beat the fiocchi! The prices are reasonable and everything was fresh!” When it comes down to choosing an entrée, the struggle is real! The options are endless, from pasta and casseroles to Stromboli, New York style pizza and calzones, to high-end yet affordably priced Italian steak, seafood, eggplant, veal and chicken dishes. Michael Hatala recently said, “The food was exceptional and staff was very attentive. Their N.Y. Strip Steak Gabriella was grilled to perfection. I honestly can’t remember ever having a steak that tasted this good. My wife had the Trippa Alla Romana and enjoyed that as well. We are definitely going back. Tonight, in fact.” When it comes to chicken and veal, there are many different ways for them to be prepared Italian-style, so Rossi Ristorante Italiano allows their customers to choose. May I recommend the Veal Saltimbocca alla Romana, which is prepared with fresh spinach, mozzarella, and a marsala demi glaze and prosciutto crisps, or perhaps the Siciliana way, which is breaded and fried with ham, eggplant
and mozzarella, then baked in a marinara sauce! Chicken never tasted so good as it does at Rossi. Try the Chicken Palermo, served with sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, pine nuts, prosciutto, white wine and a hint of lemon. There are a half-dozen other ways for the pollo to be prepared, and I suggest you try them all! If fresh seafood is at the top of the list, Rossi Ristorante Italiano offers mouth-watering Shrimp Scampi, Scungilli, Seafood Amalfitano and mussels and clams sautéed in your choice of sauce, just to name a few. Joseph Accomando wrote in a review, “Once again a GREAT meal. My wife and I have now eaten there more than a dozen times and have never had a bad meal. The prices are fair and the service is very good. I’m a NY transplant and it as close to Little Italy cooking as you are going to see in Florida.” If you’re looking for a restaurant that serves it up the old-fashioned way, head on over to Rossi Ristorante Italiano, and bring your friends and family. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, you may find that Rossi is your new favorite way to eat Italian! Rossi Ristorante Italiano is located in the Seven Springs Plaza at 7254 S.R. 54 in New Port Richey. They are open: Mon. Thur., 11 a.m.- 10 p.m.; Fri. and Sat., 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; and 1 p.m.– 10 p.m. on Sun. For more information or to make a reservation (although not required), call 727-376-4010. By Marcy Sanford If you’re looking to upgrade your home or business’ curb appeal easily, efficiently, and, most important, beautifully, give Pacific Curbing a call. They are the leading decorative concrete curbing specialist for Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Counties. Decorative Concrete is a great way to update your yard’s appeal while protecting your landscaping investment. Because decorative concrete is versatile, durable, beautiful, and economical, it has become the top choice in borders for many home and business owners. Versatile: You don’t have to worry about trying to make bricks fit or trying to bend plastic. If you want curves, Pacific Curbing can give you curves. If you want straight lines, they can easily do that as well. Pacific Curbing will adjust the border to whatever shape or size you want. The experts at Pacific Curbing can shape a border to contain any area, can stain it in any

Durable & Economical: Another bonus to concrete curbing is its durability, which is much stronger than traditional borders. “Concrete curbing will not move around like bricks do; it will not rot like wood does; and it won’t break like plastic will,” says Ms. Long. “Once we have installed concrete curbing for you, it will last for at least seven years. When it starts to fade a bit, a simple reseal is all that is needed to bring back the original color.” Pacific Curbing also installs curb-

Turf Warriors: Combat Veterans Connecting Through Golf By Kim Thomas Combat Veterans and Combat Wounded Veterans, the men and women who literally put their lives on the line for the United States and its citizens, make a huge sacrifice, and they do not want to talk about it so much. But ask about their golf game! This is something that Combat Wounded Veteran Steve Surface and his father Combat Veteran Stephen Surface viscerally understand. Stephen, who served in Vietnam, and more recently as a past Commander of the VFW says, “A Vet will talk to another Vet before anyone else because we understand they understand. Out here on the golf course, it brings us together.” Turf Warriors, founded by Combat Wounded Veteran Steve Surface, is a unique organization that allows Combat and Combat Wounded Veterans to focus on something that is both challenging and fulfilling – their golf game and the camaraderie they enjoy! Turf Warriors is what Purple Heart recipient and Vietnam Veteran
30
Rudy Salis calls, “going old school,” adding, “we are Veterans helping Veterans.” (Rudy also has been a longtime supporter of AVAST, another organization that helps Veterans in many ways.) Turf Warriors’ mission is for Combat Veterans to help each other to become successful in life, education and careers. “Golf doesn’t heal our Combat Veterans but when someone puts a golf club in your hands and you start swinging you tend to feel better and more relaxed. You’re thoughts are on hitting that little golf ball as straight and far as you can. What golf does is bring Combat and Combat Wounded Veterans, along with their family to a place where they can talk to each other, feel relaxed, get some exercise and enjoy life,” writes Steve, whose candid article was featured in Southern Golf Central magazine (Volume 6, Issue 8). Exposure to multiple roadside IEDs in February 2011 left Steve with injuries that included a mild traumatic brain injury, but he was able to work through it and return to Southern Afghanistan to finish his 12-

Combat and Combat Wounded Veterans are invited to experience golf at zero cost through the Turf Warriors organization month deployment as Combat Veteran. Once deployment was over, though, Steve found that a new battle was before him – the battle to feel normal again. When a fellow Combat Wounded Veteran invited him to experience something new and come out and play golf, he found that it lessened his anxiety. “I can’t remember how many golf balls I went through that day, I came home with zero but in a

great mood.” In 2015, Steve and his wife Stacy decided to start their own “pay back” for other Veterans and started gathering used golf clubs and bags so that Combat Veterans who would otherwise never have the opportunity could play golf. Steve explains why it’s so important for Combat Veterans and Combat Wounded Veterans to be able to focus
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
on something as normal as improving one’s golf game. He wrote, “We come from a war zone and then are expected to go back to who we were prior to deployment. We are young adults who have seen horrible things and now have to live with it, without showing weakness or telling our spouses and family what we have actually seen or had to do because we don’t want to lose the innocent respect, moral and honor that our best friends, the love of our life, our families have for us.” Turf Warriors – More Than a Game Steve Surface invited Neighborhood News & Lifestyles to come out to Turf Warriors’ second Combat Veterans Golf Clinic at East Lake Woodlands Golf Course on Tuesday, June 21st. Turf Warriors meet at East Lake Woodlands Country Club every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. The cost to the Veterans is zero. They get about 30- to 45-minute lesson from a PGA Pro; then play the course with other Veterans. Initially, the clinics were first held at Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Course, which still supports the organization as well as the children of Veterans
through its First Tee program. Steve says that East Lake Woodlands Golf Club manager, Dan Riker, immediately agreed to support Turf Warriors. East Lake Woodlands’ PGA Golf Pro Kent Magilligan is happy to donate his time, saying, “I relate very well to these guys. I will hit my 23-year anniversary with the Air Force in September. And, golf, as frustrating as it is – it’s peaceful and it’s a very individualized game. The goal of Turf Warriors: “We want one clinic in every county in Florida, where Veterans can come together and enjoy the game and the camaraderie once a month at no cost to them. We are looking for Golf Clubs that will donate tee times and Golf Pros who will donate an hour of instruction,” says Steve. Pinellas County is just the start! Upcoming clinics are being put in place at Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club in Odessa, which should start late July, and at Hernando Oaks in Brooksville sometime in August. Not only is Turf Warriors in search of golf clubs throughout Florida to get involved, they also are seeking Combat Veterans or Combat Wounded Veterans who can take a leadership role in each clinic. And if
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
PGA Golf Pro Kent McGilligan speaks to the participating Combat and Combat Wounded Veterans at East Lake Woodlands Golf Club you know of anyone who owns a building that could be used for indoor golf, please contact Turf Warriors. Steve explains that there are many Combat Wounded Veterans who can’t play golf outside, such as those who have suffered burns or brain injuries that make them sensitive to bright sunlight. There are many ways to help and Turf Warriors gladly accepts used golf clubs and bags and monetary do-

LIADO, The Italian-American Women of Today, Provides Scholarships & Donates to Local Charities By Julie Kanehl LIADO, The Italian-American Women of Today, is a local group of women of Italian-American descent who come together each month to celebrate their heritage, give back to the community and have a whole lot of fun in the process! Offering meeting locations in Safety Harbor and New Port Richey, LIADO is an exciting organization that gives back to the community. LIADO Offers Scholarship Opportunities Each Year! On June 21st at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, LIADO held their Annual Awards Ceremony. Every year, LIADO awards scholarships to students of ItalianAmerican descent on the basis of academic merit, community involvement and need. Their scholarship program has assisted students, of various ages, all across the nation. Current LIADO President, Cindy
34
Diana, said, “Since its inception in 1993, The Italian-American Women of Today have held local charities and students seeking higher education near to our hearts. Their goals align with our mission statement, to help others in the community & to help others reach their potential.” Accepting scholarship applications from all over the United States, the LIADO Board of Directors had a very difficult task choosing scholarship winners, as there were so many deserving students! The majority of these students were at the top of their class and went above and beyond to help their families and their communities. After a lot of deliberation, five of the applicants were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Scholarship award winners included Alea Delmastro from Miami, Florida, Hannah Drake from Charleston, Illinois; Isabelle Kawczynski from Martinsburg, West Virginia; Victoria Lawless from Bellevue, Washington; and Celia Janes from Orange, California.

Each of the representatives in attendance were eager to talk to the LIADO members and to thank them for their donation. MaryAnn Massolio, from 1 Voice Foundation, spoke to LIADO about how their organization, which helps children with cancer by providing educational, psychosocial and financial resources, is moving forward with creating a school just for cancer patients! She said, “We want to thank you and let you know that your donation stays right here in Tampa Bay to help local children and their families.” One Voice Foundation also funds local pediatric cancer research. Autism Speaks is an organization that raises awareness about Autism, advocates for the cause, and ultimately funds research with the goal of finding out why so many children are being diagnosed with Autism each year. Michelle Maulsby, a representative from Autism Speaks, said, “As a mom of four boys, three of which have Autism, Autism is no longer a rare
diagnosis. 1 out of 42 boys are diagnosed with Autism. 1 out of 42! This donation and others helps us to fund research that will help us to hopefully find out why this is happening to our children.” Diana said, “We support these efforts by fundraising throughout the year, and especially through our San Gennaro Festa, right here in Safety Harbor, which introduces and immerses the community in Italian culture, if only for a few short days! We thank the representatives of each of the charities for the great work they do for others, and we applaud the Italian-Americans of today seeking their higher education.” Adding, “We are honored to make a difference by supporting these noble causes.” Are You an Italian-American Woman of Today? Join LIADO! If you’re a proud Italian lady, this is the group of friends you’ve been looking for! It’s like coming into a family reunion every time there’s a meeting. There’s food, there’s recipe sharing, and there’s a natural camaraderie. More than a “club” that meets for fun, LIADO is clearly a philanthropic organization that is based

on serving others. Speaking of serving others, LIADO is also the driving force behind the popular San Gennaro Festa that has taken place in Safety Harbor for a dozen years. The San Gennaro Festa pays homage to the patron saint of Naples, Italy, and celebrates the Italian-American heritage. Thousands of people, both Italian and non-Italian, attend the Festa to enjoy the live music, to dine on thousands of homemade meatballs (from scratch, secret sauce), to partake in the cannolis, and to learn some tricks of the trade at the cooking demonstrations. The next San Gennaro Festa will be held at the Safety Harbor Marina Park (after its renovation is completed), on Saturday and Sunday, February 18th and 19th, in 2017. In addition to hosting the San Gennaro Festa, LIADO is an organization that celebrates the Italian way of life all year round. It’s about the food, the language, and the history. The meetings are a lot of fun, and LIADO offers members many great opportunities to learn more about their shared cultural past by watching movies, sharing books, learning about the different regions of Italy and more. “Trinity Hearing” Continued from page 1 Since it’s easy to become confused, what’s the difference between an Audiologist and a Hearing Instrument Specialist? The difference is a great deal of education, and an Audiologist’s ability to diagnose and treat a variety of issues related to the ear. So, while many people want a quick fix to their hearing concerns, it is important to see an Audiologist, as they are trained to see the broader scope, and can diagnose or rule out any medical concerns in the ear that may affect hearing. Audiologists are doctors, not just individuals trained to sell hearing aids, and they are uniquely qualified to match patients with hearing aids that BEST fit their needs, rather than a certain brand. Make sure that the professional you trust with your hearing healthcare has the proper education, is trained at the doctorate level, and has the experience you deserve. Drs. Hansen & Goldowski Are Audiologists You Can Trust! Dr. Kelly Hansen has more than 20 years of experience in Audiology, and is well known for her kind and

thorough approach, and for providing relief to patients who suffer from a variety of hearing and balance concerns. Dr. Hansen received her undergraduate and her graduate degrees from Purdue University in Indiana, and received her Doctorate in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona. Dedicated to continuing her education, Dr. Hansen is one of just a few Audiologists to be Board Certified in Audiology. A Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, Dr. Hansen also served on the Florida Academy of Audiology Board for four years as the VP of Communications. A proud member of the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Hansen is owner of Trinity Hearing & Balance. Nancy Nash said, “My husband had been looking for an audiologist and we found Dr. Hansen in the Neighborhood News (& Lifestyles). During his first appointment/exam she really put him at ease. He purchased a new set of hearing aids from her and they have made a world of difference in his quality of life. Dr. Hansen is thorough and professional and is always available to answer questions. Advanced Technology in Hearing Aids Just like the rest of technology, hearing aid technology is far superior to what was available even five years ago! In fact, most people with hearing loss can experience an incredible improvement in their quality of hearing with the use of today’s quality hearing aids. What’s more, hearing aids have become so advanced, that many people won’t even notice you’re wearing them! The first step in finding out what hearing aid is best for you is to have a comprehensive hearing evaluation from one of the doctors at Trinity Hearing & Balance. Hearing exams are performed in a certified sound booth to provide accurate results. Afterwards, Dr. Hansen or Dr. Goldowski will talk with you about your options, work within your budget and even work with your insurance company. When it comes to hearing aid prices, Trinity Hearing & Balance is competitive and even beats the prices found at big box stores, but it is the personal attention that Trinity Hearing & Balance is so well known for. The doctors here really take their time to make sure you are comfortable
and that the custom settings available on today’s hearing aids are actually “customized” to meet every patients’ unique needs. Real Relief Vertigo & Tinnitus If you’ve ever experienced tinnitus or “ringing in the ears,” you know that it can be infuriating. It’s almost like there’s a bee in your ear buzzing, or wind blowing in your ear, making it difficult to concentrate or to hear anything else. Tinnitus is not uncommon, and can be treated by using sound therapy, which might sound a bit like science fiction, but it’s proven to suppress the occurrence of tinnitus and bring relief for people who suffer from it. Vertigo is a dizziness that can become so problematic that people have to change their lifestyles. When it’s bad enough, people feel like they need to stay home from activities, limit or stop driving and more. While there are different types of Vertigo, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common. Millions of people are effected by vertigo, and yet, Trinity Hearing & Balance Center is one of only fifteen centers in the U.S. that has the Epley Omniax®

The advanced technology of the Epley Omniax® System at Trinity Hearing & Balance has drawn patients from other countries who are seeking help for problems with vertigo. System as a means to diagnose and treat dizziness associated with inner ear disorders. Victoria Eubank said, “After struggling with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) for over a week using medications and sleeping upright, I sought out a different method. I read about this office and called. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. My 1st visit gave me incredible results. The dizziness was gone and has stayed gone for almost 2 years now. I am so thankful. Medications used to treat this make me tired and fuzzy headed and then you have to keep taking them. I highly recommend this treatment and this office. Dr. Hansen is wonderful.” Dr. Hansen said, “I’ve had people come from all over the world to receive treatment at our office for vertigo. Just recently I had a man come all the way from South America just because we had the Epley Omniax® System. His treatment worked, and
he went home cured of the vertigo!” She added, “The Omniax System is the first technology that allows us to differentiate between the various types of vestibular vertigo, as well as to diagnose and treat BPPV, the most common form. With this tool we will now be able to do much more to help all of our patients with vestibular disorders.” If you or someone you love is suffering from hearing loss, tinnitus or vertigo, Dr. Hansen and Dr. Goldowski want to help. “Dr. Albert” Continued from page 1 and joy. Payment plan was affordable and within our budget.” Dr. Jeremy Albert, DMD, MS, a specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, has had a private practice since 2003. Dr. Albert, an East Lake High School Alum, earned his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from The University of Florida. Dr. Albert has been honored with numerous awards and he is a member of several dental associations. Parents and patients can feel confident that Dr. Albert provides the most current, effective orthodontic treatments. The heart of Dr. Albert’s practice though, is Dr. Albert himself. His caring personality is upbeat while sincere, and he treats people who come into his offices like you treat friends coming into your home. Dr. Albert is the sole orthodontist in the practice, so parents and patients know they will see the same doctor every time. Dr. Albert really makes a good impression on his patients, and not the kind that requires a tray!

Annually Dr. Albert holds “Make the Change” and “Helping Local Schools” contests. This past year Cypress Woods Elementary received $1,000, and Highland Lakes and Ozona Elementary each received $250 from Albert Family Orthodontics Hip Hip Hooray! No Impression Trays! One of the most recent advancements in orthodontic treatments is the use of the iTero intraoral scanner. Dr. Albert is one of the few orthodontists in the area that uses the wand to scan a patient’s mouth instead of using trays to create impressions. This device makes for a more comfortable experience for all patients, but it is an especially important advancement for people who suffer from a gag reflex. The scanner is used for appliances, expanders, Invisalign® and for diagnostics. Patients can see the digital scan of their teeth and how their bite

aligns or if they’re wearing down their teeth unevenly. The iTero intraoral scanner even shows patients a simulated outcome of what their alignment will look like after they have finished their treatment plan. Dr. Albert says, “It is possible to go through the whole treatment without needing impressions. We can digitally send the scans to the to lab instead of sending impressions through the mail, which makes the process quicker. The scans can also be used to create 3D printed Vivera® retainers, which provides four total retainers for the patients.”

New Patients: What to Expect Albert Family Orthodontics treats children and adults, and new patient evaluations are always FREE of charge. The free 45-minute new patient evaluation visit is important and includes a thorough examination (including complimentary panoramic x-rays) and a discussion of potential treatment options. Treatment time depends on each patient’s specific orthodontic problem, but in general, lasts from 8 to 30 months. The average timeframe a person is in braces is approximately 18 to 24 months. orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.
Before
After Before and after pictures of a happy patient of Albert Family Orthodontics accept insurance plans that cover orthodontics and there are several financial options available. Along with a low initial down payment, Albert Family Orthodontics offers no-interest, in-house financing. Not sure at what age children should be evaluated? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age,
Paying it Forward, Locally & Globally! When you visit Albert Family Orthodontics’ Facebook page, or talk to their clients they are sure to mention the numerous contests Dr. Albert offers. Since orthodontic treatment is a long-term commitment for preteens and teenagers, the contests keep patients excited and engaged in the process. Currently there is a Summer of Music and Smiles Summer Concert Series, where one patient will win four tickets to see Def Leppard and REO Speedwagon on August 15th and one person will win four tickets to see Brad Paisley on August 12th. Multiple winners will win iTunes gift cards every month. Recently, ten patients won $50 Fandango movie gift cards, and all patients are invited to Albert Family Orthodontics’ yearly AstroSkate party. Jamie Scura, who is inspired by Dr. Albert to become an orthodontist herself one day says, “I like how Albert Family Orthodontics does contests for concerts and other things.
They are all very nice there.” Jamie’s mom, Andrea Scura, owner of Aqua Shark Pool Care in Trinity agrees, “Dr. Albert and his staff are the best. They are always able to accommodate our urgent repair calls. They are doing an amazing job on my daughter’s teeth!” Albert Family Orthodontics is a private practice, so Dr. Albert has a vested interest in the community where serves and lives. He gives back both locally and abroad. He provides opportunities for his patient base to improve the lives of others through charities such as Toys for Tots and shoe drives for children in impoverished countries where Dr. Albert provides dental work for patients in need. In 2014 and 2015, Dr. Albert served families in Haiti on dental mission trips with Cypress Meadows Community Church (CMCC) of Safety Harbor under the direction of Pastor Douglas Poole. The opportunity to help others is inspiring to Dr. Albert, who is planning a dental mission trip with CMCC to Kenya in June 2017. He says, “It is definitely happening, and we are going to be gathering shoes and clothing for the orphans in our church’s orphanage there. We will go back again to Haiti at some point as well.” The families
that Dr. Albert is able to help on these dental mission trips live in remote areas that would not have dental services provided without the help of dentists volunteering their time. An annual babysitting certification program through Red Cross is provided free of charge for patients. Completion of the program includes certification in CPR and first aide, and this knowledge can help patients create their own positive impact in the community. Patients can also help their school earn money by voting for their school in Dr. Albert’s yearly “Making a Change & Helping Local Schools” campaign. The top three voted schools are put in a drawing for a first place $1,000 donation, and a second and third place donation of $250. Last year, Highland Lakes and Ozona Elementary received $250, and Cypress Woods Elementary received the first place $1,000 donation! Personalized care in a friendly environment makes Albert Family Orthodontics a place where patients of all ages feel comfortable. Advanced technology such as the iTero intraoral scanner and Dr. Albert’s stellar credentials, allow patients to feel secure they are receiving the very best orthodontic treatment options. If you want to improve your smile, contact one of Albert Family Orthodontics’ offices for an orthodontic consultation. Albert Family Orthodontics’ Trinity location is at Trinity Professional Place, 1806 Short Branch Drive, Suite #102 in Trinity (at the corner of Duck Slough and Trinity Blvds.) The Palm Harbor office is at 2445 Tampa Road, Suite A.
