“RAYS UP For Our Community” Energizing Tampa Bay with the Magic of Rays Baseball! By Katelyn Thomas There are many reasons we love our Tampa Bay Rays! Of course, there are the games, where every inning has its white-knuckled, yellout-loud moments and the breaks are filled with laugh-out-loud antics that keep the live audience participating. There is no doubt, as you watch them heat up the diamond, that the Rays players have their heads and their hearts in the game. Furthermore, they have put their hearts into the Tampa Bay community and have put their heads together to make a real difference for the people living here.

Spanning the organization from the players to the management, the Tampa Bay Rays make it their team mission to stay active, both on and off the diamond. The Rays organization is much more than entertainment and finely tuned athleticism – though we do love that! From the players and their families to the corporate employees, the Rays are dedicated to making a difference in the community. One way that the Rays have been a positive force in Tampa Bay is through the Rays Baseball Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that supports youth education development. The Tampa Bay Rays and their support team continually

pitch in to help families and individuals in our community through charities, volunteer programs and partnership affiliates. This Summer: RAYS UP For Our Community! Most recently, the Rays created a new campaign called “RAYS UP for Our Community.” Launched on June 1st and lasting until September 20th, the “RAYS UP for Our Community” campaign focuses on four key areas – Kids, Heroes, Health and Education. Additionally, every game during each two-week campaign flight will highlight a partner agency “Everyday MVP” on the telecast and social media.

The four key areas of focus each have a Rays team ambassador, including pitchers Chris Archer and Matt Moore, manager Kevin Cash and infielder Evan Longoria. Each campaign has a deep personal meaning for them. Tampa Bay Rays president Brian Auld says, “We enter the 10th year of Stu Sternberg’s ownership with a renewed focus on our mission to energize our community through the magic of Rays baseball. The ‘RAYS UP For Our Community’ campaign celebrates our community partners and helps share their successes with a wider audience.” Rays pitcher Chris Archer “threw out the first pitch” on the

new campaign with RAYS UP for Kids on June 1st. Archer dedicates his time and support to programs that focus on kids in the communities of Tampa Bay, and he is a mentor and advocate for children. As part of RAYS UP for Kids, each of the 5,600 students who celebrated their graduation at Tropicana Field received vouchers for four tickets to any Rays game in the homestand from June 9th –16th. Matt Moore heads up the RAYS UP for Heroes campaign from June 29th to July 12th. Matt chose RAYS UP for Our Heroes, stating, “Baseball is our national pastime but we wouldn’t be able to enjoy it without the great men and women who protect us. I grew up on an Air Force base so I know firsthand that American heroes, like my dad, sacrifice every day to keep us safe. Your Tampa Bay Rays are committed to energizing our community through the magic of Rays’ baseball and supporting those who give so much for our freedom. Join us as we rally our community around active duty military, Veterans, first responders and their families.” RAYS UP for Heroes highlights the “Everyday MVPs” in our community to thank them for their service and dedication to the safety of our community. For the period of August 2–16, the “RAYS UP for Our Community” campaign switches to Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash’s focus, RAYS UP for Health. Cash and the Rays organization is inspired to promote health within the community and give thanks to healthcare professionals in the Tampa Bay area. With his daughter born with a congenital heart condition, Kevin Cash has experienced that we have another sector of heroes in Tampa Bay – the ones who look after our health. Cash will be working with Rays’ partners to raise awareness for health in our community with RAYS UP for Health! Rays ambassador Evan Longoria will RAYS UP for Education. The RAYS UP for Education part of the RAYS UP for Our Community campaign will last from September 7th until September 20th. Since 2006, the Rays Baseball Foundation has

teamed with the Tampa Bay Times to promote “Reading with the Rays– –Read Your Way to the Ball Park,” made possible through a partnership with public library systems. Evan Longoria sponsors “Reading with the Rays,” which, because of his sponsorship, has grown to nine counties with more than 20,000 children participating annually. He is passionate about supporting children’s education and continues to find ways to make “Reading with the Rays” excel. Evan Longoria and the Rays received the Outstanding Business Partner of the Year from the Florida Literacy Coalition and will receive the 2015 Friend of Newspaper in Education Award from the Florida Press Education Services on July 23rd. Longoria’s dedication to education is outstanding.

How Do You RAYS UP? So, the question is, “How Do You RAYS UP?” The Rays want to hear from you! There are “Everyday MVPs” of all ages in Tampa Bay who set out to make a difference for others, and the Rays want to hear your stories. All summer long, fans are encouraged to submit stories answering the question, “How do YOU Rays Up?” If you are an “Everyday MVP” then join the big leagues and tell the Rays what you are doing to make a difference in Tampa Bay. Log on to www.raysbaseball.com/raysup to be inspired to RAYS UP for Our Community! You also can check out #RaysUp on Twitter and Instagram!

Hot Tuna Offers the Very Best in Culinary Perfection! By Matthew Selby Hot Tuna Sushi Bar & Grille is the perfect summer spot to tantalize your taste buds in a way that’s only describable as “perfection on a plate!” Convenient to all of East Lake, Hot Tuna Sushi Bar & Grille is located at 3689 Tampa Road in Oldsmar. Since opening just over two years ago, owner Hanh Ho has made a big splash in the local restaurant market. “We are very lucky to live in an area with so many delicious restaurants to choose from,” says Jason, a regular here at Hot Tuna. “I absolutely love Oriental cuisine and consider myself as a bit of a ‘sushi snob.’ While I do enjoy a handful of sushi places here in the Bay, nothing compares to the freshness and taste of the rolls here at Hot Tuna.” The seared Ahi Tuna at Hot Tuna is perfectly seasoned with Asian seven-spice and miso-garlic drizzle and is out of this world! Hot Tuna’s menu will put a smile on your face. Offering so much more than their famous sushi, Hot Tuna’s diverse selection of

culinary delights has someting for every taste and palate. Many times when a patron walks into what they think is primarily a sushi joint they don’t expect to be wowed by the other items on the menu. At Hot Tuna, you’ll absolutely be blown away by your experience. The steak, for example, is definitely one of my favorite items on the menu! It’s a perfect 12-ounce USDA Choice center-cut New York Strip, served with a shiitake teriyaki glaze. Sushi at its Finest! Sushi rolls at Hot Tuna are consistently delicious and can be very healthy depending on the options you choose. The menu has a great selection of rolls but if you are looking to change up a specific roll, they will also accommodate you to create exactly what it is you desire. Hot Tuna has so many different and amazing rolls to choose from, it may be the hardest decision you will have to make all day! If you want my recommendation, try the Volcano Roll. I personally cannot visit

Hot Tuna without ordering this roll! So, even if you think you might not like sushi, I can almost guarantee you will find something that you’ll love. But, if I’m wrong, and sushi really isn’t your thing, not to worry, because Hot Tuna has plenty of other options to satisfy your hunger! Their selection of appetizers alone is grandiose – from lettuce wraps, chicken wings, mussels and eggrolls to panko crusted crab cakes, crab Rangoon and steamed edamame, Hot Tuna offers a little bit of everything. The menu is just as extensive,

with options from the land, sea and sky, including specialty salads and sushi choices, as well as hearty entrées featuring lobster, steak, teriyaki bowls and so much more! Dr. Bartley Kerr Publishes RejuveNation and National Rejuvenation Centers Goes Global By Julie Kanehl National Rejuvenation Centers has been a highly sought after destination for people who have heard about Dr. Bartley Kerr, DC and his research into nutrition, hormone balance, genetics, exercise and the combination of all of the above. Patients fly in from all over the world because they don’t want to just feel “okay,” they want to feel great. More importantly they want a doctor they can trust, one who will take the time to do the research required for each individual patient, and create a completely personalized approach, one that is based on blood work, hormone levels and real science. While hormone replacement therapy isn’t necessarily new, National Rejuvenation Centers offers something completely unique to their patients, and that’s using 100 percent hormone replacement therapy that’s based on your own body’s unique biology to help you feel like you did in your twenties! Seriously! It’s called opti-

14

mum hormone replacement. Knocking it out of the park and bringing education about optimum hormone replacement therapy to the world, Dr. Kerr’s book RejuveNation, published just this spring, is already a Best Seller on Amazon.com. Now more people than ever before are becoming familiar with Dr. Kerr’s unique approach, and National Rejuvenation Centers (commonly called NRC), located at 34254 US Highway 19 in Palm Harbor, is at the center of it all. Knowing all along that he wanted to help people live healthier lives, Dr. Kerr graduated with his bachelor’s degree from USF, and then earned his DC degree from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. Combining his love of healthy living and his passion for nutrition and exercise, he started to study hormone balance, genetics and how everything works together. Opening his own practice in 2000, Dr. Kerr’s enthusiasm coupled with his dedication to carefully manage

each patient’s hormone levels carefully with his team of medical physicians and staff, has been a huge game changer for hundreds of patients, from members of his own family to worldrenowned former athletes. Jan Stephenson, a worldrenowned LPGA golfer and athlete, said, “I’ve worked out my whole life,

and when I turned 55 no matter how much I trained I wasn’t getting much stronger, and was getting flabby no matter what I did. After starting the program with Dr. Kerr, I sleep better, I don’t have any night sweats, and I’m stronger.” RejuveNation is garnering fivestar reviews like this: “Are you in your

success stories. Dr. Kerr does a great job at communicating the information in a fun way without too much medical jargon. This book can be used as a guide by both doctors and patients.” Paul Arnold, MD said this about RejuveNation, “I highly recommend this book. It is an ‘easy read’ book with a wealth of knowledge. As a Urologist, I treat many patients with low testosterone. For patients that are seeking rejuvenation medicine, I refer them to read Dr. Kerr’s book. Dr. Kerr has done a great job. It is a complete and informative book on rejuvenation medicine.”

40s-60s? Do you complain of apathy, fatigue, sleep difficulties, and/or weight gain? Do you long for the energy and vitality of your youth? If yes, then this book was written for you. Learn from Dr. Kerr and how his approach to Restoration Medicine will have you feeling like a twenty-something. See how hormone optimization, diet, and exercise all come together to transform the lives of people just like you with many real-people

Dr. Kerr & The NRC is a Game Changer Dr. Kerr, who was on his first of many television appearances, is incredibly excited about it all, because helping people to feel their best is something he’s truly passionate about. For those of us who just don’t have that pep in our step anymore, Dr. Kerr has the answer. One patient said, “If you are young and feel old, or old and feel your age and think there is nothing you can do about it – think again. It is my pleasure to recommend that you contact Dr. Kerr at National Rejuvena-

East Lake Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

tion Centers and experience, as I did, what I consider a miracle transformation in my health, appearance and sexual potency which amazingly was achieved in only a few short months.” Dr. Kerr explains on his blog, “Oftentimes when I meet new patients or potential patients, their fascination lies into bio-identical hormone replacement and if it is right for them. I explained to them that if it is deemed that they are deficient in certain hormones and they are replaced, they will feel much better. When people feel better, they have the ability to be more active. To take advantage of this new energy and to enhance the results of optimal hormone levels, I recommend exercise protocols specific to the goals of the patient.” National Rejuvenation Centers uses state-of-the-art techniques in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to safely balance hormone levels of patients over the age of 35 to that of a healthy and athletic twenty-year-old, which is what makes all the difference. Combining nutrition and personalized exercise plans with the hormone replacement therapy, patients feel a world of difference in just a matter of weeks. The best part? Besides feeling like you’re 20 again? Unlike many hormone replacement clinics, treatment at NRC is designed to be affordable. One female patient said, “I have never felt better. I have lost weight naturally and kept it off. Most of all, my whole outlook on life and my

every day mood is great. No more hot flashes, no more mood swings. I love life again and have as much energy as I did before menopause. I feel fabulous!” Another patient had this to say about RejuveNation, “If you’re considering hormone treatment combined with an exercise program, this book is straight forward and an informative read on the subjects. I’m actually a patient of Dr. Kerr and have been for nearly three years. Dr. Kerr’s years of research, personal experiences and knowledge have produced one of the world’s foremost experts on a subject often confused and misunderstood by many. If your location makes visiting his National Rejuvenation Center in Florida impractical, this book is your next best option.” Luckily for us, Dr. Kerr and the NRC are right here in our area! Weight loss, an increased sex-drive, a more positive outlook, and the energy to enjoy life again – that is what patients at NRC are reporting. RejuveNation, Dr. Kerr’s new book is available online at Amazon.com or at the NRC office. National Rejuvenation Centers is located at 34254 US Hwy. 19 N in Palm Harbor. Office hours are Mon., Wed. and Fri., from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Tues., 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call (727) 785-5652 and log on to www.nationalrejuvenationcenters.com for more information.

Not with the Farrell companies. Team Farrell truly does it all and is proud to be accredited with the Better Business Bureau and advertises its rave reviews from Angie’s List and Home Advisor. Already well-known throughout

Team Farrell started with one focus – roofing. A roofing contractor, Steve Farrell had a strong work ethic and an even stronger commitment to have things done right and with his wife Tina at the helm, Farrell Roofing was founded in 2006. With the Farrells in charge of providing the type of stellar services that they’d want for themselves, the company quickly became successful, and their customers began requesting more services. In 2011, contractor Rich Allen joined Team Farrell with a focus on Farrell Home Services. More recently, Tom and Jill Persinger joined Team Farrell. The Persingers were first neighbors of the Farrells and then customers. Chatting one day, Tom mentioned wanting to do something with the blank canvas of his and Jill’s vast front yard. He had the right neighbor in Farrell! “I’ve got a team of people,” said Steve. With Team Farrell on the job, the Persinger’s yard now features a man-made pond, fountains, and a stone bridge perfect for hanging out with the neighbors! Jill and Tom both had career backgrounds that were a good fit for the services that the Farrell companies wanted to add. Jill is a Florida State University graduate with a degree in Marketing. After graduating, she immediately went to work in sales for a large commercial janitorial company.

She worked her way up to the position of senior vice president with the company. Now, Jill is co-owner with Tina Farrell of Farrell Carpet and Tile Cleaning, and she is one of the owners of Ms. Twister, along with her husband Tom, Tina Farrell, and Sophie Anastassiou. Tom Persinger knows a lot about managing teams to provide great service. His background includes being VP of Operations for 38 school districts in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, before becoming COO of Atlanta-based One Source Facility Services. Steve Farrell and Tom Persinger are partners in Farrell Air Conditioning. Team Farrell not only is committed to providing for every home maintenance need of its customers; the company is committed to building a better community. Farrell Home Services and its sister companies support more than 40 Tampa Bay Area charities. More than that, if you use Ms. Twister cleaning services for anything from a one-time cleaning to weekly or bi-weekly cleaning, you can feel good knowing that Ms. Twister donates a portion of its profits from every job to support local Pasco County breast cancer programs. Ms. Twister is currently installing a special program where they will offer free cleaning for patients who are undergoing breast cancer treatment. TCBY –– Cool Treats for Hot Days By Dara Tucker Nearly four summers ago Trinity became home to the first TCBY SelfServe on the West Coast of Florida. Owners Patti and Jay Silar opened the store with their daughter Jenifer SilarMills, who is the store’s marketing manager. The idea of opening the Trinity location came quickly to Patti and Jay when they visited a TCBY Self-Serve store in Charlotte, North Carolina. The amazing taste makes it hard to believe the frozen yogurt is 96, 98 or 100 percent fat free. The couple knew it was a great business to bring back home to Trinity, where our hot days make cool treats even more scrumptious. TCBY, also known as “The Country’s Best Yogurt,” originally opened in 1981, and is the oldest frozen yogurt company in the United States. The company has high health and quality standards that appeal to Patti Silar who is a retired RN. Patti says, “TCBY takes pains to purchase products that are high quality. Fruit is sanitized to meet TCBY requirements, and we don’t use frozen fruit because it turns to mush on your yogurt. Our fruit are

26

in their own juices instead of syrup.” Jay Silar adds, “Our yogurts are kosher and Halal certified. We want to meet our customers’ needs.” TCBY’s yogurt is delicious, smooth and creamy. The possibilities of flavor combinations and toppings seem endless, but you many not have known it has great nutritional value, too. TCBY has super frozen yogurts (Super Fro-Yo), which is a new classification of frozen yogurt that sets a high standard for nutrition within the frozen yogurt industry. To qualify as a Super Fro-Yo, TCBY’s frozen yogurts meet or exceed (based on a four oz., half-cup serving) having at least three grams of fiber, seven types of live and active cultures, four grams of protein, and 20 percent daily value of vitamin D and calcium. The fiber and probiotics in TCBY yogurt help you feel satisfied and aid your body in digestion, boosting your general health. Vitamin D and calcium are also essential for bone and muscle health. The protein in TCBY yogurt contains amino acids that help proper muscle maintenance. Eating healthy has never tasted so good! Summer Martin truly values hav-

TCBY’s friendly employees are always available to help you with a sample ing healthy dessert options. She says, “We love the Trinity TCBY. Our daughter has insulin resistance and it is hard to find a low sugar option for dessert. TCBY always carries a no sugar added flavor and would let us know when it arrived. The staff at TCBY is so friendly and treated us like their extended family. When it came time for my daughter’s birthday she

couldn’t imagine having it anywhere else than at TCBY and several of the staff were there to wish her a Happy Birthday. When we found out that we were moving to a different town, the staff got together to say goodbye and even gave us a going away card! They always went above-and-beyond to offer great customer service. We love our Trinity TCBY!”

Trinity’s TCBY is bright and fun, with a textured wall that changes colors. Between the music, bright colors, and cheerful staff, Patti, Jay and Jenifer have created an atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying a treat. Unsure which of the ten flavors you should try? Don’t worry! An employee is happy to give you a sample. You don’t need to decide on just one flavor either. You can fill your 16 or 25 oz. cup with as little or as much as the cup can hold. Bananas are available to turn your frozen yogurt into a banana split. If

you don’t like your flavors mixing, cup dividers can be used to separate them. The ten available flavors rotate or change periodically, but there is always a no-sugar-added option and a nonmilk based option. For example, Silk™ Coconut Milk and Silk™ Chocolate Almond Milk are the current nondairy options available. In the upcoming months additional frozen yogurt flavors TCBY will be carrying include English Toffee, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip Mint and Apricot. After you dispense your frozen yogurt, head over to the topping bar, which has over 45 different toppings to choose from, including fresh fruit and crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. There are plenty of kids’ favorites such as gummies and candy chocolate rocks. You can top it off with hot chocolate fudge or warm walnuts in a caramel sauce. It’s possible to come to TCBY every day of the month, and never put together a repeat combination of yogurt and toppings! Jay, Patti, and Jenifer are involved in several community projects and fundraisers including Taste of Trinity and Long Leaf Fall Festival. As active members of our community, you’ll spot the TCBY “car” around town, and at places such as the New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs Christmas

Parades. Jenifer also works with local non-for-profit groups for spirit nights. For a set number of hours, a portion of the proceeds made on a designated night goes back to the school or church as a fundraiser. It’s fun and delicious way to earn money for your non-for-profit group. TCBY provides the Trinity area with a scrumptious and healthy yogurt shop that is perfect for taking the kids for a treat, birthday celebration, date night, or to take a pint from their freezer home to enjoy. When you go, make sure to ask for a loyalty reward card that gives you 1 point for every

dollar you spend, and after 30 points you earn a $3 coupon. If you’re looking for gift that’s sure to be loved, purchase a TCBY gift card for any amount. TCBY of Trinity is located at 3140 Little Rd. in the Mitchell Ranch Plaza. During the summer months of June, July and August, TCBY Trinity’s hours are from noon–10 p.m., Monday – Friday. Call (727) 375-1177 for more information about spirit nights, and check out TCBY of Trinity’s Facebook page or website www.tcbytrinity.com for upcoming events and flavors.

“Dentistry” Continued from page 1 Dr. McCaslin was the first dentist in the Tampa Bay Area to get the Omnicam, an amazing technology that has been in the making for over 25 years. Expressions Cosmetic & Family Dentistry started putting the CEREC Omnicam to use in 2012 to scan teeth for precise 3D images in natural color, which allows for measurements for fitting crowns, bridges and implant restorations. The CEREC 3D scanning technology has virtually eliminated the need for temporary crowns because of its exceptional precision. “All ceramic crowns can be done here in one day with the Omnicam,” says Dr. McCaslin. And if you need a bridge or want a gold crown, your image can be transmitted in twotenths of a second to a local dental lab so they can see the fit right away and get the most precise fit possible. “It eliminates the need for multiple impressions,” explains Dr. McCaslin. “It allows a complex restorative case to be a simple procedure.”

30

Introducing GALILEOS The Newest in 3D Imaging! Dr. McCaslin’s excitement to bring this advanced imaging technology to her practice shows just how dedicated she is to her patients’ dental health and her ongoing commitment to early detection of oral health issues. “This is where dentistry is headed,” says Dr. McCaslin about the GALILEOS 3D Scanner. “Now we have the ability to look at a person’s true skull. We can see past dental work, root canals, bony structures of the jawbone, the actual tooth on a 3D plane and nerves along the jawbone, which is where cancers can metastasize, along with clues of other underlying health issues that may not be symptomatic. GALILEOS will allow better integration between doctors and dentists.” The GALILEOS 3D Scanner is manufactured by the same company that allows for same-day crowns to be made. The future of dentistry is focused on efficient service that can diagnose and treat current problems, as well as foresee those that may occur in the near future. This new type of dentistry has just begun to break into the possibilities of 3D imaging and scanning for optimal oral care and its

This technology allows us to get more of an inkling of what is going on with the mouth and body as a whole. Diseases within the body can be seen through the mouth. A study recently showed that people who receive regular cleanings (twice a year) have a 24 percent lower risk of heart attack and a 13 percent less risk of stroke. Gum inflammation can occur due to a slew of health issues including: diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, dementia and other serious diseases. Many oral cancers and bone changes in the mouth are asymptomatic, meaning there are no symptoms. When the cancers in the mouth have symptoms, the cancer is usually in a later stage. Dr. McCaslin has faith that the

future of dentistry pairing with the medical field will help better assess and detect cancers in the mouth and the entire body more quickly through a collaborative relationship. More medical insurance companies are covering the new technologies being released, such as the GALILEOS 3D. Dr. McCaslin says, “Medical insurance may pay for some x-rays, comprehensive exams, and provide benefit to the patient receiving a 3D scan as well, without an extra trip to a radiology lab. Patients with medical insurance are also finding that their plan covers oral devices, sleep aids and TMJ devices.”

Building Relationships to Last Dr. McCaslin’s first dental practice opened in New Port Richey in May of 2006 and in 2011 she expanded to open Expressions Cosmetic & Family Dentistry in Palm Harbor. She has shown leadership in and out of the dental community and has recently closed her New Port Richey office to better serve her patients in one location. Dr. McCaslin’s Palm Harbor office has become a home-away-from home for Dr. McCaslin and her lovely team. Even her faithful and sweet old dog Max gets to hang out in her private back office. You will find that Expressions Cosmetic & Family Dentistry

is a welcoming and refreshing practice with all the comforts that you could ask for from your dentist and Dr. McCaslin and her staff are welcoming, kind and competitive in their field – you are in good hands here. Working with new patients, with and without insurance, to provide quality and affordable care, Expressions Cosmetic & Family Dentistry strives to be the best dental office you’ve ever been to. Dr. McCaslin and her staff are ready to welcome you. Expressions Cosmetic & Family Dentistry accepts all major insurances to cover a wider market and to be as accessible as possible to patients. “Physicians” Continued from page 1 Drs. Stephanie Eldridge, MD, MPH and Amir Shirmohammad, MD, MPH are a husband and wife team that knows what it’s like to have a busy family lifestyle. In fact, they have two lovely daughters and another one on the way! High school sweethearts, “Dr. Shirmo,” as most patients call him, and Dr. Eldridge met when they were just 17, and they’ve been together ever since. Both of them graduated Cum Laude from Tulane University in New Orleans where they majored in Cell and Molecular Biology. They went on to earn Master’s Degrees in Public Health and Epidemiology before earning their Medical Degrees, staying at Tulane the entire time. Serving Trinity and its surrounding areas since 2007, Dr. Shirmohammad and Dr. Eldridge have already met their goal of creating a new kind of medical practice as Trinity Family Physicians is one that certainly stands out from the rest in its dedication, commitment and follow-through.

34

Taking Time With Patients is Important Most of us do not enjoy going to the doctor. We want it to be quick and painless. We want the drive-through version of anything that’s not pleasant these days. However, if you go to a “drive-through” service for health care, where the goal is to get as many patients rotated through the door as possible, you’re going to just be a number. Trinity Family Physicians is the opposite of drive-through care. That’s not to say that they aren’t timely, or that they don’t value their patients’ time, because they do, but their commitment to each patient is something that has more value, and that’s something I’m willing to wait for. I know that when it’s my turn,

For Ad Info 727-943-2946 • www.NNLFlorida.com

I’m not going to be turned away when I ask a question or voice a concern. I’m not going to be told to make another appointment. Each time I see a doctor at Trinity Family Physicians, I feel that I’m being listened to, and that my care is their utmost priority at that time. One patient admits to driving more than an hour to get to Trinity Family Physicians, saying, “I am willing to drive to see them no matter where I move, and I’m willing to wait because it’s not that often that you find a physician that offers that kind of care.” Dr. Shirmohammad says, “We offer our full attention to each of our patients, and we don’t want to be rushed. While we have a goal to have

AUGUST 2015

each patient checked in and out within a certain amount of time, our true investment is in the time it takes for your health to be properly evaluated.” Another patient said, “They are the absolute best! My wife and I were both looking for ‘old fashioned’ doctors, the type we had when we were kids that would take time with you and seemed truly concerned for your health. Drs. Shirmo and Eldridge were exactly what we were looking for. They have been nothing short of fantastic in helping both of us through our health issues the last several years.” A Knowledgeable Staff Ready to Assist! The Trinity Family Physicians staff is made up of a team of profes-

sionals that assist Drs. Shirmohammad and Eldridge. In fact, their front office staff is trained to have medical knowledge as they are on the front line, answering phones and talking to patients. “We don’t offer care over the phone,” explains Dr. Shirmohammad, “but we pride ourselves on having a staff that is aware of possible emergent life threatening conditions and it has saved patient’s lives, in all honesty.” He adds, “We try to see patients the same day or the next day when they’re sick, and if we’re here, we do what we can to see people right away. We also have an incredible support staff that allows us more availability. They are very well-trained and give excellent care.” Dr. Shirmohammad is referring to their highly qualified Physician Assistant Mrs. Kristina Reeves, PA-C, and Nurse Practitioner Mrs. Kyle Maldonado ARNP-C. Kristina and Kyle are always available to see patients, especially for that last minute, “I might need an antibiotic” kind of situation. Preventative, Communicative Care While the care at Trinity Family Physicians is all about the back-to-

basics, one-on-one approach, everything else is pretty state-of-the-art! For example, patients can now log into a patient portal to access medical records, request appointments or refills on medication, and even send questions to the doctors! All of their records are digital, which means they can send and receive records from other offices within minutes when necessary. They also send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. Educating Patients to Stay Well Trinity Family Physicians and their staff are focused on helping their patients feel well and stay well, which means that education is one of their top priorities. As a result, the doctors and their staff often offer health seminars on specific topics such as diabetes, nutrition, supplements and weight loss. Weight loss is a popular topic at Trinity Family Physicians, and they’ve been helping lots of patients learn how to shed those pounds the right way, and keep them off. Dr. Shirmohammad explains, “We spend time getting to know our patients and we teach people how to eat properly, and we’re helping people avoid taking unnecessary medicine by teaching them about

the many natural and herbal supplements that we have available.” Offering general vitamins for overall wellness, sleep aids, supplements for heart health, safe weight management, vision support and more, Trinity Family Physicians offers the NutraMetrix line of supplements and vitamins right there at their office. Patients love the convenience of being able to get natural health supplements at Trinity Family Physicians and rather than guessing what to buy at a store, they can get what their physician recommends. Another way that Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Shirmohammad reach out to the community and patients with important tips and information is with Facebook. “Like” Trinity Family Physicians on their Facebook page because there, the doctors let people know if there’s a virus outbreak in the neighborhood, if the flu shots are available, and they also give helpful tools to incorporate wellness in general. Just recently, Drs. Shirmohammad and Eldridge created another way to involve themselves in a community where we have everyday heroes that they would like to recognize with their Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay

Making A Difference Award. The first recipient of the Award will be announced in the September issues of Neighborhood News & Lifestyles, along with information about how you can nominate someone for the ongoing Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award (winners chosen quarterly throughout the year). Using all of the tools that they can, Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Shirmohammad strategize with their patients for overall health care, to help us meet the goals we have, and encourage us to live our healthiest lives. More than that, they provide personalized, professional care. I know that I can count on them when I need them, and I’m grateful to have found doctors like the ones at Trinity Family Physicians, so close to home.
