Clendon Webb
Given the amount of rain that our area has had recently, it’s a good time to reassess your insurance coverage, and more importantly make sure that you don’t have any “gaps.” Insurance gaps happen when you think you’re covered, but you aren’t. The best way to make sure you have the coverage you need is to sit down and talk to an agent who knows the area, and is dedicated to providing more than a policy, but a relationship that you can depend on when it really counts. The Clendon Webb Insurance Agency is located at 6704 Congress Street in New Port Richey, and is staffed with an incredible group of
certified insurance professionals who can help you choose the best auto, property, and life policies that are best for you and your family. What’s more, Clendon Webb is a life-long New Port Richey resident, and he knows the area extremely well. This has been very helpful when providing personalized advice about coverage to his clients. State Farm is the largest insurer of homes and automobiles in the nation. Here’s some interesting info: Did you know that State Farm has been the number one insurance company for automobile insurance since 1942 and continues to be a leader in the industy in other lines of insurance. River Ridge High School Students Arielle Pfaff & Austin Gable Get a Taste of German Work Life at Mercedes Benz Plant Since 2007 the IGS Kandel has been partnering with River Ridge High School in Pasco County, Florida. For the first time, two American exchange students had the opportunity to get to know German work life during their two-week internship at the Mercedes Benz plant in Woerth, Germany. According to county commissioner (in Germany) Fritz Brechtel and the school’s principal Wolfgang Poggel, “The long years of partnership are now bearing fruit even beyond school life.” Wearing a blue overall with the Mercedes star on it, 17-year old Arielle Pfaff from New Port Richey, Florida, exudes confidence and vigor. Nicole Graf, Maximilian Kremer and Stefan Schulze, her supervisors in the training workshop, are impressed with her friendly and open manner.” It’s an honor for us,” they say. Shortly before, the first exchange student from River Ridge High School, Austin Gable, had checked out the world’s largest truck plant. “It was Uwe Busch, a Daimler

Excel Creative Learning Academy is Now a VPK Provider! By Dara Tucker Three years ago, the new stateof-the-art preschool academy, Excel Creative Learning Academy (ECLA), opened its doors in the Medical Arts Building on the Medical Center of Trinity campus on State Road 54, offering full preschool programs for babies from six weeks old up to children through age four, and some programs for elementary age students. ECLA also is a Voluntary PreKindergarten (VPK) provider starting this 2015-2016 school year. Excel Creative Learning Academy aims to provide a safe and interactive learning environment that will engage, enrich and empower the lives of their students. While I visited the campus I noticed students learn through hands-on projects in their interactive, enriching classrooms. Teachers use state-approved Creative Curriculum and SMART Board technology to help each child’s education and character development. Director Erika Mahoney has a background that includes early child-
12
hood education and she is a Florida state licensed teacher for grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Erika came on board at ECLA before the facility opened three years ago, so she truly has been able to see her original vision of ECLA to engage, enrich and empower come to life. The staff is selected for educational background, experience and training, and all are background checked. Excel Creative Learning Academy accepts babies as young as six weeks but with only eight children in the class with two teachers there often is a waiting list for these coveted spots. Once children are in their toddler years, the staff works with parents as they see children are ready to move up to a class that is developmentally appropriate.

The two-year-olds are split into two classrooms depending on age and developmental ability. ECLA Director Erika Mahoney explains, “Over the last three years we have found that there is such a developmental difference between a 24-month-old and a 36-month-old, that we decided to separate them so that we could

focus on a stronger curriculum with our older two-year-olds. This has worked wonderfully!” The younger two-year-old classroom is called the “Investigators” classroom and has one teacher for every six children, and the older two-year-old classroom is the “Adventurers” with one teacher for every nine children.
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
The three-year-old “Voyagers” class has two teachers with a maximum of 20 students. Students in these classes, as well as the four-year-old class, have the option to attend five days a week, three days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), or two days (Thursday and Friday). In ECLA’s four-year-old class called “Innovators” the students are often found learning in small group rotations, taking virtual field trips on the class SMART Board which engages visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners, and interacting with circle time activities. Erika explains, “There’s a focus on developmentally appropriate early literacy and math skills in our four-year-old class.
Our job is to get them ready for kindergarten.” Excel Creative Learning Academy believes developing and encouraging partnerships with families is an essential part of their success, and they are committed to children’s safety. Fingerprint technology is utilized to allow entry into the children’s area of the facility – an additional precaution on top of the buzz-in front entrance. Erika and the assistant director have a digital feed of the halls and classrooms so they can video monitor the facility. Even students with peanut allergies can feel safe at ECLA, since it is 100% peanut-free. Daily notes go home with children, which include sleep

habits, what they ate, and more. Three and four-year-olds take home learning packets that help keep parents aware of what sight words the children are working on, and it includes a little activity to be completed. Room to Play Outside Although ECLA’s 7,000-squarefoot facility is tucked away in the Medical Arts Building on the Medical Center of Trinity campus, they do still have a beautiful outside play area. One group of children uses the playground at a time. Even the younger children get outside time through stroller walks starting at six months old.
Parent Sue Beane sums it up beautifully, “We could not have picked a better preschool experience for our son. The staff is caring, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Andrew was more than ready for kindergarten thanks to the loving staff at Excel Creative Learning Academy.” Excel Creative Learning Academy is located in the Medical Arts Building on the Medical Center of Trinity Campus at 9332 SR 54, Suite 204, and is open Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. For more information, call (727) 372-4977 or visit the website www.ExcelCreativeLearningAcademy.com.

Team Farrell started with one focus – roofing. A roofing contractor, Steve Farrell had a strong work ethic and an even stronger commitment to have things done right and with his wife Tina at the helm, Farrell Roofing was founded in 2006. With the Farrells in charge of providing the type of stellar services that they’d want for themselves, the company quickly became successful, and their customers began requesting more services. In 2011, contractor Rich Allen joined Team Farrell with a focus on Farrell Home Services. More recently, Tom and Jill Persinger joined Team Farrell. The Persingers were first neighbors of the Farrells and then customers. Chatting one day, Tom mentioned wanting to do something with the blank canvas of his and Jill’s vast front yard. He had the right neighbor in Farrell! “I’ve got a team of people,” said Steve. With Team Farrell on the job, the Persinger’s yard now features a man-made pond, fountains, and a stone bridge perfect for hanging out with the neighbors! Jill and Tom both had career backgrounds that were a good fit for the services that the Farrell companies wanted to add. Jill is a Florida State University graduate with a degree in Marketing. After graduating, she immediately went to work in sales for a large commercial janitorial company.
She worked her way up to the position of senior vice president with the company. Now, Jill is co-owner with Tina Farrell of Farrell Carpet and Tile Cleaning, and she is one of the owners of Ms. Twister, along with her husband Tom, Tina Farrell, and Sophie Anastassiou. Tom Persinger knows a lot about managing teams to provide great service. His background includes being VP of Operations for 38 school districts in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, before becoming COO of Atlanta-based One Source Facility Services. Steve Farrell and Tom Persinger are partners in Farrell Air Conditioning. Team Farrell not only is committed to providing for every home maintenance need of its customers; the company is committed to building a better community. Farrell Home Services and its sister companies support more than 40 Tampa Bay Area charities. More than that, if you use Ms. Twister cleaning services for anything from a one-time cleaning to weekly or bi-weekly cleaning, you can feel good knowing that Ms. Twister donates a portion of its profits from every job to support local Pasco County breast cancer programs. Ms. Twister is currently installing a special program where they will offer free cleaning for patients who are undergoing breast cancer treatment. Got Lobstah? Food Truck Starts Serving Next Month! By Katie Thomas If you have ever tried Maine lobster, prepared the traditional New England way, then you know the sweet, succulent beauty that a coldwater lobster offers when served boiled, steamed, on a roll or simmered down in a rich creamy sauce. Maine lobster served with drawn butter alone is a simple, yet complex delicacy that awakens the taste buds and pleases even the pickiest of seafood critics. If you’re craving Maine lobster, it’s coming! The Got Lobstah? food truck will be hitting the roadways in the Tampa Bay Area next month with a focus in the Trinity Area. Got Lobstah? is the brainchild of local couple Karen and Gary Amundson. Gary fell in love with Maine lobster while he was falling in love with Karen during their first visit to meet Karen’s family in Maine. “I am originally from North Dakota, so when I first visited Maine to meet Karen’s family, I had never truly experienced coldwater lobster,” says Gary. “Her father took me with him to the lobster pound, a place where guys are unloading boats and trucks of lobster right

into tanks for you to pick up fresh. Her dad asked me how many lobster I wanted and I didn’t quite understand, so I asked him, ‘How many is everyone else having?’ He answered that they were each having three, so I ordered the same. We went home and cooked them up served with beer and small rolls and I haven’t found another type of food that is comparable.” That was over twenty-two years ago and since that first bite of delicious Maine lobster, Gary has been working on perfecting his own Maine lobster recipes. Karen says, “My heart has always been in Maine, so the idea to start a food truck with Maine lobster made complete sense to me.” Karen grew up in New Jersey and has visited Maine every year with her family for vacations since she was two years old. “I kind of always knew I would work in the hospitality industry again. I started working in restaurants when I was 15 and always enjoyed the business. For the last 25 years, I have worked with people, but it hasn’t been serving people delicious food, so I am very excited to combine my love of feeding people with my love for Maine into a new business,” says Karen. “Got

Lobstah? uses my family’s recipes and others that Gary and I have discovered throughout our marriage. Our motto: Stick to what you like and know - simple and delicious Maine style seafood!” Gary says, “When I first learned how to cook lobster, people raved about the texture, taste and simple goodness. I told them all, it was due to the lobster being shipped down straight from Maine, still alive that made them so great. We host about 25

friends or so to our house every year for a big lobster cookout and after hearing over and over that we should bring this to the public, we decided to start Got Lobstah?!” As a Veteran, Gary has strong beliefs in supporting American vendors and he works exclusively with domestic vendors. All of the lobster served through Got Lobstah? are coldwater Maine lobster. Even the bread used for lobster rolls called Top Loaders are

straight from Maine. Got Lobstah?’s menu focuses on three “Maine” items: Lobster Rolls, Maine Crabmeat Rolls, and New England Clam Chowder. The menu also offers: Mashed Potatoes with Lobster Sauce and Maine Lobster Tails served with drawn butter. More items will be added soon such as Lobster Bisque, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Steamed Live Maine Lobsters. When you stick to what you love and know, you can reach perfection and once you taste Karen’s lobster roll
recipe, you’ll believe it. Lobster Rolls are made wet or dry – that is with Hellmann’s Mayonnaise or Plain with Butter – and stuffed into a toasted top loader bun. That’s it – simple, easy and delicious! Just an FYI, the crabmeat served at Got Lobstah? is from the Jonah Crab (found exclusively off the northeast Atlantic coast), which is different in taste, texture and density from any other crab in the world. Got Lobstah? is available for events, parties, fundraisers, and food truck rallies in the Trinity Area and
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
beyond. Gary and Karen are working on a second food truck; “Crustacean Station” will be their “Big Daddy Food Truck,” with a full kitchen and it will feature a wide variety of all types
of seafood. Call Got Lobstah? at (727) 236-1324. For the Grand Opening date and to view the menu, visit Got Lobstah? on Facebook.

Dr. Bartley Kerr Publishes RejuveNation and National Rejuvenation Centers Goes Global By Julie Kanehl National Rejuvenation Centers has been a highly sought after destination for people who have heard about Dr. Bartley Kerr, DC and his research into nutrition, hormone balance, genetics, exercise and the combination of all of the above. Patients fly in from all over the world because they don’t want to just feel “okay,” they want to feel great. More importantly they want a doctor they can trust, one who will take the time to do the research required for each individual patient, and create a completely personalized approach, one that is based on blood work, hormone levels and real science. While hormone replacement therapy isn’t necessarily new, National Rejuvenation Centers offers something completely unique to their patients, and that’s using 100 percent hormone replacement therapy that’s based on your own body’s unique biology to help you feel like you did in your twenties! Seriously! It’s called opti-

Knocking it out of the park and bringing education about optimum hormone replacement therapy to the world, Dr. Kerr’s book RejuveNation, published just this spring, is already a Best Seller on Amazon.com. Now more people than ever before are becoming familiar with Dr. Kerr’s unique approach, and National Rejuvenation Centers (commonly called NRC), located at 34254 US Highway 19 in Palm Harbor, is at the center of it all. Knowing all along that he wanted to help people live healthier lives, Dr. Kerr graduated with his bachelor’s degree from USF, and then earned his DC degree from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. Combining his love of healthy living and his passion for nutrition and exercise, he started to study hormone balance, genetics and how everything works together. Opening his own practice in 2000, Dr. Kerr’s enthusiasm coupled with his dedication to carefully manage

each patient’s hormone levels carefully with his team of medical physicians and staff, has been a huge game changer for hundreds of patients, from members of his own family to worldrenowned former athletes. Jan Stephenson, a worldrenowned LPGA golfer and athlete, said, “I’ve worked out my whole life,

and when I turned 55 no matter how much I trained I wasn’t getting much stronger, and was getting flabby no matter what I did. After starting the program with Dr. Kerr, I sleep better, I don’t have any night sweats, and I’m stronger.” RejuveNation is garnering fivestar reviews like this: “Are you in your

success stories. Dr. Kerr does a great job at communicating the information in a fun way without too much medical jargon. This book can be used as a guide by both doctors and patients.” Paul Arnold, MD said this about RejuveNation, “I highly recommend this book. It is an ‘easy read’ book with a wealth of knowledge. As a Urologist, I treat many patients with low testosterone. For patients that are seeking rejuvenation medicine, I refer them to read Dr. Kerr’s book. Dr. Kerr has done a great job. It is a complete and informative book on rejuvenation medicine.”
40s-60s? Do you complain of apathy, fatigue, sleep difficulties, and/or weight gain? Do you long for the energy and vitality of your youth? If yes, then this book was written for you. Learn from Dr. Kerr and how his approach to Restoration Medicine will have you feeling like a twenty-something. See how hormone optimization, diet, and exercise all come together to transform the lives of people just like you with many real-people
Dr. Kerr & The NRC is a Game Changer Dr. Kerr, who was on his first of many television appearances, is incredibly excited about it all, because helping people to feel their best is something he’s truly passionate about. For those of us who just don’t have that pep in our step anymore, Dr. Kerr has the answer. One patient said, “If you are young and feel old, or old and feel your age and think there is nothing you can do about it – think again. It is my pleasure to recommend that you contact Dr. Kerr at National Rejuvena-
Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
tion Centers and experience, as I did, what I consider a miracle transformation in my health, appearance and sexual potency which amazingly was achieved in only a few short months.” Dr. Kerr explains on his blog, “Oftentimes when I meet new patients or potential patients, their fascination lies into bio-identical hormone replacement and if it is right for them. I explained to them that if it is deemed that they are deficient in certain hormones and they are replaced, they will feel much better. When people feel better, they have the ability to be more active. To take advantage of this new energy and to enhance the results of optimal hormone levels, I recommend exercise protocols specific to the goals of the patient.” National Rejuvenation Centers uses state-of-the-art techniques in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to safely balance hormone levels of patients over the age of 35 to that of a healthy and athletic twenty-year-old, which is what makes all the difference. Combining nutrition and personalized exercise plans with the hormone replacement therapy, patients feel a world of difference in just a matter of weeks. The best part? Besides feeling like you’re 20 again? Unlike many hormone replacement clinics, treatment at NRC is designed to be affordable. One female patient said, “I have never felt better. I have lost weight naturally and kept it off. Most of all, my whole outlook on life and my
every day mood is great. No more hot flashes, no more mood swings. I love life again and have as much energy as I did before menopause. I feel fabulous!” Another patient had this to say about RejuveNation, “If you’re considering hormone treatment combined with an exercise program, this book is straight forward and an informative read on the subjects. I’m actually a patient of Dr. Kerr and have been for nearly three years. Dr. Kerr’s years of research, personal experiences and knowledge have produced one of the world’s foremost experts on a subject often confused and misunderstood by many. If your location makes visiting his National Rejuvenation Center in Florida impractical, this book is your next best option.” Luckily for us, Dr. Kerr and the NRC are right here in our area! Weight loss, an increased sex-drive, a more positive outlook, and the energy to enjoy life again – that is what patients at NRC are reporting. RejuveNation, Dr. Kerr’s new book is available online at Amazon.com or at the NRC office. National Rejuvenation Centers is located at 34254 US Hwy. 19 N in Palm Harbor. Office hours are Mon., Wed. and Fri., from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Tues., 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call (727) 785-5652 and log on to www.nationalrejuvenationcenters.com for more information.

Bella Pool Service – Veteran Owned & Detail Oriented! By Katie Thomas Florida is the perfect place for a delightful backyard pool that can serve as your oasis on hot summer days. Without proper care though, Florida pools also can serve as an oasis for bacteria, algae, leaks and a host of other problems. The easiest way to prevent the pains that come with having a pool couldn’t be more simple hire a professional pool cleaning service that is reliable, honest and knowledgeable. Bella Pool Service, LLC is a company that is all of that and more, and serves Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties with complete pool services that include weekly maintenance, pool equipment repairs, stain removal treatments, complete pool clean up, deck power washing, deck staining and more for both commercial and residential pools. Owned and operated by Norm and Valerie Giunta, Bella Pool Service has been catering to residential and commercial pool owners for eight years. After moving to the area in 1999, Norm and Valerie wanted a business that would allow Norm to be home on nights and most weekends.

Norm’s background has over 15 yrs. in construction. Norm gave his options a lot of thought and began brainstorming what services he used as a homeowner that could be better. In 2006 the family had a pool installed and began having problems. Norm was frustrated after calling around to receive a slew of different answers from pool companies that really just didn’t seem to help. He decided that he would open the best pool service company in the area. He received his CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and Stain Specialist certification and opened Bella Pool Service with one truck and 35 customers. Bella Pool Service has now grown exponentially to serve three counties with five trucks, which allows Bella Pool Service to accommodate most people within 24 hours of their phone call. Bella Pool Service began as a small company that offered weekly maintenance to pool owners so they could enjoy their pools rather than deal with the hassle of constant up-

Norm says, “Florida pools can quickly get out of control due to many factors. Usually most homeowners don’t see a problem with their pool until it has become severe, which is why having weekly maintenance performed by a professional is so important.” Norm takes his time to talk to customers and really understand the source of the problem. Join Pasco Residents in the Upcoming “Out of the Darkness” Community Walk to Help Prevent Suicide and Raise Awareness Hundreds of walks to help bring awareness to Suicide Prevention are being held nationwide through December 2015, including one right here in Pasco County. More than 200 people from throughout Pasco County are expected to participate in the upcoming Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The fundraising walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) by helping to support local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs to reach the goal to reduce the annual rate of suicide by 20 percent by 2025. The Pasco County Out of the Darkness Walk is one of more than 360 Out of the Darkness Community Walks being held this fall nationwide. The walks are expected to unite more than 100,000 walkers na-

tionally and raise more than $15 million for suicide prevention efforts. “Much more needs to be done to prevent suicide. Yet, suicide and the underlying mental disorders that can sometimes lead to suicide continue to be surrounded by misinformation and stigma,” said Marie Kelly, walk chair. “This walk is about reducing that stigma, raising awareness and raising needed funds for research and local prevention programs.” The Pasco County Out of the Darkness Community Walk will begin at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park at 10 a.m. and will end at that location by approximately 12:30 p.m. According to AFSP, close to 700,000 people will make a suicide attempt requiring medical care and more than 38,000 die by suicide in the U.S. every year. “Despite the troubling statistics, an important goal of the walk is to

stress that suicide can be prevented. The walk is also a call to action that more must be done to prevent suicide, nationally and in communities across the country,” said Robert Gebbia, executive director for the foundation. “We know that the best way to prevent suicide is through the early recognition and treatment of the mental disorders that can contribute to suicide. Unfortunately, stigma about disorders such as depression, bipolar illness, and alcohol and substance abuse, keeps people from getting the treatment they need. The Overnight is about eliminating that stigma.” He continued, “It’s about bringing hope to those who have been affected by suicide.” About the AFSP: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Clearwater Lady Bombers Hit it Hard in 2015 and Come Out Champions! The Clearwater Lady Bombers is a non-profit organization that provides young ladies from all over the state of Florida (including some from right here in Trinity), ages 8 -18, with a place to play the game they love. Softball is their game, but to be a Lady Bomber means you participate in community service events such as the Toys for Tots and the Challenger Jamboree. The Toys for Tots event is held in November and benefits the less fortunate children who might not otherwise be able to receive gifts at Christmas. In the past five years the Lady Bombers have supported more than 300 children through this program. The Challenger Jamboree is an annual softball tournament that pairs up a Lady Bomber with a special needs athlete for a day of fun on the field. “As a parent of one of these young Bomber players I would like to tell you more about the Bombers 10U (Barber) team,” says Tammy N. “Through the Clearwater Lady Bombers Organization and under the leadership of manager Angie Barber and coaches AJ and his daughter Raven Johnson, the 10U team has become State Champions in both the NSA and the USSSA this year. These volunteer coaches have taught these girls how to work together and respect each other’s differences. They have taught them about good sportsmanship and to learn from each loss, how to accept criticism and encourage each other during difficult times. The
biggest thing they were taught was that the lessons learned on the field will help them deal with more difficult circumstances in the future when they are off of the softball field.” The 10U team met the Mayor of Clearwater on August 6, 2015 at the Town Council meeting in recognition of all the accomplishments these young ladies have achieved.

Trinity is Falling in Love with
By Kim Thomas The first Johnny Brusco’s pizzeria opened Syracuse, NY back in 1976. Now there are more than 70 locations nationwide and Johnny Brusco’s just opened its first Florida location right here in Trinity at 10730 State Road 54, at the Duck Slough Boulevard intersection. If you love authentic New York pizza, Italian specialties, calzones, Stromboli, wings, cold beer, fine wine and a fun time – then you’ve got to stop in and check out the great food and atmosphere at Johnny Brusco’s! Taking over the space that used to be occupied by Crispers, you won’t even recognize the interior. Fire Department t-shirts and even the retired firefighting gear from the franchise owner as part of the décor. The build-out is impressive and General Manager James Chiara, who has opened several restaurants for Johnny Brusco’s, says, “This is the most extreme build-out we’ve ever had and this location will be the model for all future Johnny Brusco’s in Florida.” Best of all, true to the Johnny Brusco’s mission, it is embracing the community spirit here in Trinity and people are responding. Johnny Brusco’s was the chosen location for the Greater Holiday Little League’s banquet – a 200-person party! Johnny Brusco’s is a big supporter of local schools in all its locations, and Trinity will be no different. The J. W. Mitchell high school foot-
