Tarpon Springs based charity Wheelchairs 4 Kids proves that children in wheelchairs can accomplish amazing things! The organization took many of their kids water skiing at U Can Ski 2 in Winterhaven. The kids had the time of their lives and more than one parent shed a tear watching their child do something they never dreamed possible. U Can Ski 2 is a nonprofit located in Winter Haven that takes people with disabilities water skiing with adaptive equipment. It is run out of the home of World Champion Disabled Water skier, Ann O’Brine-

Satterfield. “This was the most amazing day,” stated Wheelchairs 4 Kids Executive Director Madeline Robinson, “I was a little nervous planning this event, but once I saw the safety precautions in place and the massive smiles on our kids’ faces I knew we had made the right decision! We will definitely be back next year.” Eight-year-old Brian loved skiing and was able to ski unaided on his first run! In his words, “It was spectacular!” Roby’s mom, Robyn had tears in her eyes when she saw the guides let go and he was skiing by himself.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities. They also recently took 30 children to the WWE RAW event at Amalie Arena courtesy of the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation and Delaware North Catering. In addition to providing fun activities for children with disabilities, Wheelchairs 4 Kids raises funds to provide – you guessed it – wheelchairs for kids! Tampa Rejuvenation - “Your Health Our Passion” By Matthew Selby Let’s face it, getting older has this awful little side effect of aging your body. As hormones deplete, our skin begins to sag and wrinkle, our sex drive declines, we gain unexplained weight, we have sleep issues, and our drive for life lessens. We cannot control time as it passes each day, but with advancements in technology and medical research, we now can slow down the negative effects of the aging process in a safe and very effective way. Tampa Rejuvenation, with its closest of 4 clinics located at 13648 West Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa, separates themselves with their integrative approach to medicine. The physicians at Tampa Rejuvenation let their work and happy customer testimonials speak for themselves. Patient Nancy H. writes, “Tampa Rejuvenation helped me lose a very needed 30 pounds! My primary doctor was very impressed that I am now much healthier and no longer a diabetic risk. The HCG diet is healthy, safe and fast. The staff is great! They are all knowledgeable, courteous and helpful (the Doctor, the Nutritionist,

medical assistants, counselors, office administrators). They monitor everything from beginning to end and will help at any time. I have also now learned how to eat healthier. Between this and the diet, I will be keeping the weight off. I feel so much better, healthier and confident. It was one of the best things I've done!” The staff at Tampa Rejuvenation is detail-oriented and patient-specific in their treatment – it’s not cookie cutter medicine. The science is out there; the treatment is available; but finding the right physicians for you can make all the difference in the world. The physicians at Tampa Rejuvenation are unique – they left the modern tunnel-vision style of medicine behind. They understand that many times conventional medicine is designed by “BIG-PHARMA“ to relieve symptoms and sometimes only masks those symptoms to make them bearable. I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want to settle for just bearable symptoms of anything. At Tampa Rejuvenation the physicians honed in their skills with only one goal in mind – to fix the problem, not hide it. While interview-

didate for Tampa Rejuvenation and their 4-D Longevity Plan. Tampa Rejuvenation has multiple physicians, each with their own unique personality and extensive education and experience. With a number of physicians to choose from, Tampa Rejuvenation will assign the perfect physician based on the patient’s needs. Johanna deVryer M.D. is one of the founders and has been around 8 years, leading the company’s successful growth because of the number of patients’ lives she has changed. She’s Board Certified in internal medicine

and has her fellowship in anti-aging. Dr. deVryer’s primary offices of care are the New Tampa and South Tampa locations. Kent Beams, M.D. is another talented doctor at Tampa Rejuvenation. He is Board Certified in AntiAging/Regenerative Medicine, as well as Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. He was also trained by “SottoPelle”, which is basically the “Rolls Royce” of pellet therapy. Dr. Beams brings along with him a wealth of information and experience in the gastro side (gut/ stomach) of medicine as well. He firmly believes health and healing all starts in the gut. Caroline Lomboy D.O., is another one of Tampa Rejuvenation’s amazing Physicians. She is a Diplomat of Osteopathic National Boards, is a Board Certified Medical Review Officer and Board Certified in Anti-Aging /Regenerative Medicine. Her holistic but medical sound approach, combined with her soft and genuine heart for each patient, makes her one of the best in the Tampa Bay Area.

Tampa Rejuvenation’s Newest Team Member Natasha Daza Williams is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and is trained in Anti-Aging / Regenerative Medicine. She is passionate about each patient’s experience at each visit.

4-D Longevity Plan Tampa Rejuvenation Wellness Center’s physicians believe in what they call a “4D Longevity” plan. The 4 D’s consist of DIET, DAILY HORMONES, your unique DNA, and DETOX. If you follow this plan, you're going to be successful. It’s that easy. The Diet is specially designed for each patient individually based upon their DNA. The physicians run blood work on the patient to determine what kind of diet works best for their ge-

netic makeup. It’s science at work for you, and it really is incredible. It takes the “fad” diets and the guessing out of the equation. You finally find out what foods you need to eat for your specific body. You can even find out what foods to completely stay away from due to allergies and sensitivities you may not even know you had. The daily hormone aspect of this plan is simple. You don’t need to take a bunch of pills, injections or topical medications anymore. Your hormone therapy is only once every 3-6 months (depending on whether you are male or female) via bio-identical hormone pellets inserted into the fat just below the skin. It’s virtually painless and takes only a few minutes.

What are the benefits of Hormone Therapy? Increase Lean Muscle Mass Decrease Body Fat Increase Sexual Function Reduce Wrinkles Decrease Cardiovascular Risk Restore Energy & Vitality Improve Well-Being & Mood Life causes stress and stress causes, well…..nothing good. Land O’ Lakes Optical Grand Opening Event Offers Great Savings! By Marcy Sanford Come celebrate the Grand Opening of Land O’ Lakes Optical, located at 19455 Shumard Oak Drive at the Oakstead Commons on Thursday, September 17th, from noon until 8 p.m. Land O’Lakes Optical will serve refreshments, and there will be door prizes (sunglasses and optical lenses), treats for children, and savings for the whole family with 40% off all frames. You’ll have a chance to meet the friendly and professional staff and they also are taking appointments for eye exams on the day of the Grand Opening celebration. After building a successful practice in Tampa, Dr. Jose Santos opened Land O’ Lakes Optical to serve the residents of the Lutz, Land O’ Lakes, and Odessa areas. “I live in Lutz,” says Dr. Santos. “This area is growing tremendously and I thought that there was a need for quality eye care for our residents.” Dr. Santos has more than 15 years of experience and has equipped Land

O’ Lakes Optical with the latest technologies and equipment. Patient Laurie Winkles says that she’s a loyal patient of Dr. Santos because of his expertise, knowledge in the latest optical technologies, and personalized care. “I’ve been with Dr. Santos since he opened,” says Laurie. “I was a patient of a doctor he partnered with but stayed with Dr. Santos because he is really innovative and really cares about his patients. He uses the latest technology and equipment.” Laurie adds that the retinal imaging equipment that Dr. Santos uses made her eye exam much more comfortable. She continues, “Dr. Santos is always doing what is best for his patients. I am afraid of putting things into my eyes and did not want to get contacts but found my glasses to be uncomfortable and cumbersome. Dr. Santos was very patient and helpful. He worked with me to find contacts that would be comfortable and that I could use. One night I was not able to get one of my contacts out. Early the next morning when I called Dr.

You’ll love Dr. Jose Santos and the friendly team at Land O’ Lakes Optical Santos, he answered the phone and told me that he was not in his office yet but I was welcome to come by his house. He and his family welcomed me into their home and he removed the contact in about two seconds.

He really goes above-and-beyond to help his patients.” Dr. Santos’ has a support staff that his patients rave about. Optician Steven England has been in the optical business for over four decades and is

verified by the American Board of Opticianry. Skilled in frame adjustments and repairs, Steven really enjoys helping people to find the frames they love. Gloria Pineda is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish and English, and brings more than 36 years of customer service and management experience to the practice. Gloria has worked with Dr. Santos for six years, making sure that every customer has a happy experience. Laurie says that everyone at Land O’ Lakes Optical is very helpful and caring. “When you are a patient at Land O’ Lakes Optical, everyone in the office knows you. Steven really looks at your face and helps you pick out glasses that will compliment you. He listens to you and helps you find the style you are looking for. Gloria is always very helpful and friendly. At Land O’ Lakes Optical you’ll get the best possible care with great customer service from people who really care about you.” Dr. Santos says that he loves helping people see details in life. “It is a joy to be able to open people’s eyes to the beauty of the world. We strive to give the best possible eye care with compassion and love.”

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

Dr. Santos’ top concern is his patients and in addition to checking your vision, he will check for eye diseases and examine the complete health of your eyes. He uses the latest equipment and technology to obtain very precise results. Land O’ Lakes Optical carries many different lines of fashionable glasses and the latest in optical lenses. “One of the newest advances we offer is a techshield anti-glare coating. This anti-glare coating protects your eyes from blue light emitted by today’s digital devices,” says Dr. Santos. “Studies show that blue light from smart phones, tablets, televisions, and computers can contribute to eye strain and vision loss.” Best of all, at Land O’ Lakes Optical you’ll find an eyeglass expert who can help you find a pair of glasses and sunglasses that will look great. “Steven has been in the optical business for more than 41 years,” says Dr. Santos. “He is very skilled in helping patients with frame selections, adjustments, and repairs. He takes time to help each of our patients find glasses that fit their face color and shape as well as hair color and style. He will help you find glasses that flatter you

and fit your budget.” “I have only great things to say about Dr. Santos and Land O’ Lakes Optical,” says patient Odalys Chinique. “He is a really great doctor. He listens to you and answers any questions or concerns you have. He is the best of the best.” Don’t trust your eyes to just anyone, turn to the experts at Land O’ Lakes Optical for your vision care. Will My Child be Ready for Elementary School? More and more parents are recognizing the importance of the early years to their children’s success in elementary school and beyond. Consider this: the most active time of brain development occurs before age five. Strong neural connections formed during this critical time are established by the experiences children have with their environment. The quality of those early interactions determines how children continue to learn and form relationships, strongly influencing their future success and happiness. Research confirms that nurturing guidance and attention to every aspect of development in the early years help children develop compassion, confidence and a love of learning, in addition to competence and academic skills. These capabilities are easy to take for granted, but can make all the difference in how children respond to school and life beyond the classroom. Primrose Schools has more than 300 accredited, private preschools nationwide, and provides a balanced approach to school readiness – a well-rounded preparation in basic con-

12

cepts and acquisition of social skills – that gives children the foundation for a future filled with promise. “School readiness is essential to a child’s success in elementary school and beyond,” said Anna Hurst, Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Lutz. “Children who receive a quality preschool, pre-K and kindergarten education develop into well-rounded individuals prepared for learning and for life.” At Primrose Schools, “readiness” means more than just learning how to add and spell. It means learning how to think critically, use mathematical concepts, share and show self-control – skills that support a positive transition to elementary school. Primrose Schools supports the development of social and life skills, as well as executive function. Research shows that executive functioning skills help children establish positive relationships and close the achievement gap. The Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® system blends academics, play and character development to build a strong foundation and nurture

a lifelong love of learning. In addition to core academic subjects, the curriculum includes enrichment programs in music, physical activity, art, sign language, Spanish, technology and social skills. Parents choose Primrose Schools because of its proven value in preparing children for success in school and in life. Nationally recognized assessment tools and our own research with Primrose parents show that Primrose pre-K and kindergarten students are

advanced in social skills and concept knowledge, and therefore more ready for elementary school than many of their peers. Primrose Schools believes that with the right foundation, anything is possible for your child. Trinity Family Physicians Announces the First Recipient of the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award Dr. Amir Shirmohammad and Dr. Stephanie Eldridge appreciate the great response to the inaugural Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. Trinity Family Physicians announced the Award in Neighborhood News & Lifestyles publications in July and now the physicians are excited to announce the first recipient of the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. Dr. Shirmo (as his patients affectionately call him) presented Jim Carow with a beautiful gift basket donated from partnering sponsor Grille 54 that was filled with wine, cheese, crackers and of course, a gift certificate to enjoy a delicious dinner at Grille 54. Nominated for his volunteer work with the IWork program at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Jim Carow makes a difference in the lives of others here in Tampa Bay! Dr. Shirmo met with Jim Carow and his wife Mary to learn more about the volunteer work they do and he shared the reason that he and Dr. Eldridge created the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. “My wife and I wanted to start a program where we

could give back for a worthwhile cause,” said Dr. Shirmo. “Dr. Eldridge said right away, ‘Why don’t we give out an award to people in our community who are making a difference in the daily lives of others?’ We both loved the idea!” Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Shirmo grew up in Tampa Bay, fell in love in Tampa Bay, went away to earn medical degrees together and then came back to the area to open a family medical practice and raise their own family. They look for ways to promote good in the community they love and though it has been a busy time for the husband-and-wife team – Dr. Eldridge just gave birth to their third daughter in August and Dr. Shirmo volunteers as one of the team physicians for his alma mater Jesuit High School – they still found a way to honor others who are making a difference with Trinity Family Physicians’ Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. There were some exceptional nominees and it wasn’t an easy decision for Trinity Family Physicians but they kept coming back to one email

Jim Carow makes a lasting difference in the lives of others by teaching them invaluable job-seeking skills, but he is humble about his involvement with Idlewild Baptist Church’s IWork program, saying, “I don’t do this alone! We have phenomenal volunteers who have been helping from day one.” The IWork program was started more than six years ago. One of the pastors came to Jim, who had a long career in recruiting for the healthcare industry, and asked him to help start a program that would focus on helping people who were actively seeking a job. While IWork does not find jobs for people, it does offer fellowship along with a workshop that teaches networking and interviewing skills. Pastor Phillip Hanes said of Jim Carow, “He is a fine man and there is a great team of volunteers who work with him. We are very thankful for this program, which hosts 25 to 60 people every Monday night.” Jim can’t say enough about the

Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

volunteers (some first came to the group seeking help) who put so much heart into the IWork program that it has morphed into much more than a workshop. It is fellowship and caring. “When we had our first meeting, we thought it would be about strategy, networking, Linked In…and we do all that, but it is so much more. The methods we teach work at all levels. We have all kinds of people from physicians to 19-year-olds wanting to find summer jobs. We just give people hope.” He recalls the early planning of IWork with a laugh, “When they said we have to feed people, I said, ‘Do we really have to? Does every Baptist function have to include feeding people? Can’t we just teach them?’ But they were right. I realized early on that for some, this was their only meal of the day. We’ve got stories that will melt your heart and we’ve got stories that will send you to the moon.” The IWork program has built in a couple of traditions. Every year they have an “Office Party” Christmas Party and put Publix gift cards under the tree. Jim recalls one young woman who had lost her car and was losing her house; she was depressed and almost didn’t come to IWork’s office party when she got the voicemail but decided to ride her bike. Jim recalled,

“She burst into tears upon opening her card and finding that she had $25 for food. She said, ‘This will last me a week!’ And then a man walked over to her and handed her his Publix gift card.” Remarkable! Another tradition happened purely by accident. Sharon had been looking for a job for two years when she decided to go to IWork on Monday nights. After a couple of meetings, she got a job and to celebrate, bought a cake with her first paycheck and brought it in to share with the group. Someone brand new to the group that night got a job the same week and thought it was what everyone did so he showed up with a cake the next week. A tradition of celebration was born, and hope carries on at IWork. Dr. Shirmo asked Jim Carow if there was anything he’d like to see happen from the exposure of winning the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award. His answer was much the same as Pastor Hanes – that other churches and organizations will offer the same types of support for those sincerely seeking gainful employment. Jim pointed out that there are other churches in the area that have similar programs. Log on to Idlewild.org for more information about the IWork program at Idlewild Baptist Church.

Pure Health & Fitness Studios Helps Clients Make Lasting Transformations Marcy Sanford Pure Health & Fitness Studios owner Samantha Taylor understands what it is like to struggle with weight issues and unhealthy eating habits. “I had a compulsive binge eating disorder when I was a child but overcome it 12 years ago. Many people are emotional eaters and the consequences are not good. I learned to eat healthy because I wanted to live a healthier life. I still enjoy food but have made nutritious eating part of my lifestyle. At Pure Health & Fitness Studios, we don’t just train muscles; we show our clients how to live a healthier lifestyle for the rest of their lives. If you aren’t satisfied or don’t enjoy the food you are eating, you won’t stick with any eating plan.” Located in Land O’ Lakes at 2206 Knight Road, Pure Health Studios is hosting a free seminar on Sat., Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. entitled, “How to Lose 9 to 21 lbs. in 6 Weeks.” One of the top trainers in Florida, Samantha Taylor has been helping people transform their bodies and their lives for 23 years. Her innovative, per-

sonalized programs have worked for thousands of women, many who have been trying unsuccessfully to lose weight for years. “I tried every diet but still found myself at 340 pounds,” says Pure Health & Fitness Studios client Barbara. “Before I met with Samantha, I was considering gastric bypass but I just knew that was not the healthy option, so I called her. I am so glad I did because she taught me how to eat and helped me get active. Now at age 63 two years later I am SO happy to say I have lost 150 lbs. and I can’t believe how great I feel! I am so glad I did it the healthy way.” “The number one difference between us and other personal training facilities is we teach our clients what to eat, what to buy at the grocery store, and what to choose when they go out to eat,” says Samantha. “The recipes that we give our clients are delicious and nutritious. We customize our programs to meet each clients’ goals.” “Many of our clients are in their 50s or older,” says Samantha. “Some

Pure Health & Fitness Studios offers both private and semi-private training for women of all ages. “Women really start losing muscle in their 30s,” says Samantha. “Each year you lose one pound of muscle turning the muscles to mush unless you do something to prevent it. We focus on helping women get their tone body back. Many women find that aches and pains that have been plaguing them on

If you are concerned about how you are going to get around when you are in your 80s, you need to start working out now.” “I just turned 75 and I had no idea I could look and feel this great at this age,” says Pure Health Studios client Lynn. “Samantha has found the fountain of youth!” “We help our clients develop a lifestyle of eating healthy so it becomes part of their lives. We have monthly seminars, show them how to cook and they have accountability. My number one concern is helping my clients prevent heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. Eating the right foods can help prevent these diseases. Enjoying the right foods because you have delicious, easy to make recipes can change your life. Eating the right foods combined with effective exercise will transform your body.” “A woman who has a great body in her 80s, has made exercise and healthy eating a part of her life early on but you don’t have to start as a teenager, you can start transforming you body and your life in your 50s, 60s, and 70s. I have a 68-year-old client who has lost 61 pounds and now weighs less than she did when she was

My DPCdoc Family Medicine – Your Source for Direct Patient Care Marcy Sanford With My DPCdoc Family Medicine, small business owners have a new tool for recruitment and retention – the opportunity to provide their employees with access to their own personal primary care physician. Located at 4651 Van Dyke Road in Lutz, the DPC in My DPCdoc Family Medicine stands for Direct Patient Care. Dr. Eric Crall opened the innovative practice a year ago after becoming frustrated with traditional health care models. “I became a doctor to help people stay healthy. After 17 years of working as a primary care physician for a large health care system, I found myself spending less time with my patients and more time on paperwork,” says Dr. Crall. “Because I am working for my patients and not insurance companies, I can spend as much time with my patients in the office as needed. I proactively manage my patients’ health and help them manage any health issues they have. I am available to my patients by phone, email, or, if appro-

Dr. Crall came to our office and explained My DPCdoc Family Medicine to everyone in our office and they all overwhelmingly agreed that it sounded like the perfect solution to their health care needs. “It had been years since some of my employees had been to see a doctor and often they would let small issues turn in to bigger ones because they did not want to pay the high deductibles associated with their insurance. they have a physician they can call and talk to directly with any questions they have and they can go visit him as often as they need to in order to resolve health problems. “My DPCdoc Family Medicine has been a huge benefit to my employees and my company. My employees are able to stay healthier; they have missed less work, and, thanks to Dr. Crall’s care, are able to get well quickly when they are sick. With My DPCdoc Family Medicine my employees have access to a professional, caring doctor whenever they need him. Being able to offer this program has been a great recruitment tool. “Bleakley Bavol” Continued from page 1 opened the firm as a solo practice in April 2000. Originally located in the Bank of America Building in downtown Tampa, the firm’s early practice focused on defending trucking companies and larger business in auto, premises and workers compensation claims. However, almost from its inception, the firm began a 15 year trend of organic growth adding clients, new lines of business, and experienced attorneys. Today the firm employs 13 attorneys with further growth still planned. In 2008 the firm re-located from downtown to its current location near the corner of Florida and Bearss Avenue.

Strategic Growth Robert is accompanied by his partner Chuck Bavol, who joined the firm in March 2011, transitioning the name from The Bleakley Law Firm to The Bleakley Bavol Law Firm. “When Chuck joined in 2011 he brought in sophistica-

tion, experience and excellent trial strategies and technological tools that really advanced our practice and allowed us to provide even better services to our clients, particularly in the area of litigation,” says Robert. Chuck is nationally recognized as an outstanding litigator who has served as national trial counsel for Dow Corning and regularly handles high exposure product liability, medical device, medical malpractice, and construction cases. In 2012 Robert’s long-time friend and fellow Avila neighbor, Rob Grace, joined the firm. Bleakley describes Grace as a “throw-back”. He says, “Rob has over 24 years of experience practicing law and is one of the states’ most respected workers compensation litigators. He is a ‘lawyers lawyer’ – professional, ethical, and one of the hardest working attorneys I know.” Grace leads a team of experienced workers compensation defense attorneys that include partners Dave Lamont and Crystal Corry. In 2015 the firm added north Tampa resident Kristen Allman, who spent the majority of her 28 year legal

career as a board certified employment law specialist. Robert noted the firm has represented large companies and smaller businesses in employment disputes for years and adding an attorney with true specialization in the employment law area was something he had desired for many years. In addition, Robert noted the long time contributions of partners R.G. “Mack” McCormick, who has been with the firm since 2001 and who, along with Robert, represents national floor cleaning companies and large malls in premises liability claims and been to trial many times with Robert. “We have fought many battles together and there is no one else I would rather go to trial with than Mack. In a very similar way, our partner Melissa Krepps has been through numerous trials with Chuck Bavol. She is the guru of federal court procedure and has successfully argued at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.” Robert says, “not all of your readers are a general counsel or risk manager of a large company seeking representation in commercial or tort cases. But everyone in your audience will probably

need a lawyer at some point in their lives.” In 2006 Bleakley added Christina Hebert as a partner in order to provide legal services to local businesses and individuals in areas other than just litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Christina gained experience working in a small Tampa firm where she was a partner and handled corporate work and business transactions, guardianship and probate matters as well as drafted wills and formulated estate plans. Christina, who has 20 years of experience as a lawyer, prides herself on being able to provide face to face representation with clients. In that regard, the location of The Bleakley Bavol Law Firm’s offices to surrounding neighborhoods in Carrollwood, North Tampa, and southern Pasco County has been a bonus. This allows many clients convenient access for face to face consultation with their lawyer, a lost art among too many in the legal profession. At Bleakley Bavol, Christina has continued to focus her practice primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate, wills and trusts, as well as corporate law, business formation and transactions.

Estate Planning, Wills And Trusts Whether you want to do a simple will or trust to provide for the disposition of your At Bleakley Bavol Law Firm, personal belongings you can expect personalized attention from lawyers and other assets and who truly care about your individual case property or are looking for business succession In addition, Robert noted Christina planning, Christina will offer well is an added bonus to the complex comthought out advice and will assist you mercial litigation team at Bleakley Bavol. with your estate planning needs.. “Ronald Denman joined our firm in “At some point in their life, each 2014 and, like Chuck, brought someand every person is going to need a will thing new to our firm. Ron is a set up a will or trust, I think it’s time you former prosecutor and general counsel

come and talk to Christina. No matter what your situation may be, Christina may be able to help! “Having a will is so important,” says Christina. “You want to make sure your assets go to the people and in the manner which you want them to go. If you die without a will or a trust, your assets will pass according to the intestacy laws, which may not be consistent with your wishes.” Having a will is especially important if you have children who are minors. Something people don’t often consider is the mechanism in which their children will inherit their property. “When minor children are involved, it is usually a good idea to have trust provisions to provide for the distribution of the money to children over time and in installments; otherwise the children could have complete control of the money when they turn 18. The use of trust provisions allows you to decide at what age the child will receive money and the amount they will receive. Trust provisions are particularly important when your children are young because you do not yet know what their maturity level with be and whether they will be able to handle a significant amount of wealth at the time of your death.” From small family run businesses to large corporations, Christina has a lot of familiarity with estate planning from a corporate perspective as well, and has helped many business owners plan for the succession of their business. Christina says, “I enjoy meeting with clients and getting to know them and finding out what it is they want to achieve. Building a strong relationship is really important to me. They need to be able to trust you and have confidence in the legal services you are providing them.” Maybe you already have a will in place, but your situation has changed, such as you have recently gotten a divorce. Did you remember to change your beneficiary designation? This is a common mistake that many people forget to do. Your will does not determine where all of your assets will go, the beneficiary designation controls that. So if you forget to change that your assets can end up going to somebody that you didn’t want it to go to – such as your ex spouse. There are so many things to take into account when estate planning, so why not talk to the professionals at Bleakley Bavol so you know it will get taken care of properly!

Trust Is The Key To Success Bleakley credits the firm’s focus on building trust with its clients as the reason it has been successful. “Trust is so important; the client has to know that their lawyer is looking out for them,” says Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

Robert. “Most people start with a preconceived notion that lawyers are only looking out for their own best interests, but we go above and beyond to prove that we put our clients’ needs first and will always do what is in their best interests. We preach to our new lawyers at every monthly meeting that we must take every opportunity to build trust with our client. In the end, if we can build that bond of trust with our client, where they know, because we have already proven it, that we are looking out for the client, we will be successful.” With an experienced roster of attorneys, The Bleakley Bavol Law Firm draws on its vast experience to advise its clients of the significant costs and risks of litigation. But with each legal matter, there is also a possible solution. Robert says, “What I like best about practicing law is finding the solution. Sometimes there is no good solution, so sometimes my job is to find the least bad solution – a way out. All of our attorneys are really good at understanding the problem, finding the best solution for the client and developing a plan to get them there.” Firm Administrator Jayme Bluffstone has been with the firm since 2004. She adds a different perspective on the growth and success of the firm. “We have great attorneys and an incredible staff supporting them. There is a lot of longevity in not only our attorneys but also our staff; our original legal secretary has been here with us for 15 years – since Robert opened the firm. I think that says a lot about the environment that Robert and Chuck foster here. This firm is family and we grow it that way. We are very particular about the people we bring in because that is a representation of who we are. We are different – our employees often comment that the environment here is completely different than any other law firm where they previously worked. We intentionally run it that way. We are different with a purpose.” At Bleakley Bavol you get the best of both worlds, the experience, professionalism, and even an elegant legal environment, without having to drive downtown to get it. Christina Hebert added, “you can expect personalized attention from lawyers who truly care about you and your well being”. As their slogan proudly reads, “Large enough to handle complex cases, small enough to provide personalized service!” The Bleakley Bavol Law Firm is located at 15170 North Florida Ave. in Tampa. The firm is open 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Mon.–Fri.; appointment times available outside normal office hours. Cosmetic Dentistry Can Be Life Transforming Dr. Nelson prides himself on Smile Makeovers, which can be performed in as little as two visits. If you have misshapen teeth, gaps or discoloration, porcelain veneers can help you get the natural, beautiful smile you have been longing for. The veneers fit over your teeth and are bonded to ensure a secure fit that feels comfortable. Patient Erin says, “I have never felt as comfortable about smiling as I do today. The veneers were the best thing I have ever done in my life. I wish I had done it sooner. My selfesteem and confidence have risen to new levels thanks to the artistic hand of Dr. Nelson. I have always hated to go to the dentist because of my past. I truly feared it, until that is; I met Dr. Nelson and his staff. I have never been to a dentist that cared not only about my teeth, but also about the person sitting in the chair. I am not afraid of the dentist anymore. I actually look forward to my appointments. I truly believe that getting veneers is a life changing experience.” Get Better Sleep with Dental Sleep Medicine In addition to Smile Makeovers

and general dentistry services, Dr. Nelson offers complimentary sleep apnea and snoring consultations. Dental Sleep Medicine is a growing part of dentistry with a focus on managing snoring and sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy (OAT). Over 20 million Americans suffer from the breathing disorder known as Sleep Apnea. Apnea literally mean “without breath,” which means throughout the night sleep apnea sufferers may experience a cutoff of airflow with rapidly falling oxygen levels. This is not conducive to a good night’s rest, but more than that, Sleep Apnea can be dangerous for your overall health. Traditionally, Sleep Apnea has been treated with CPAP machines or surgery, but many people don’t want to go to such uncomfortable or drastic measures to correct their sleep disorder. Dr. Nelson provides an alternative to CPAP therapy and surgery with a different type of oral appliance therapy (OAT). His alternative to the CPAP is to custom-fit patients with an oral appliance, such as the SomnoMed, which is a small acrylic device that fits over the upper and lower teeth aligning your jaw in order to keep your airway open. The SomnoMed device is

much like a retainer or mouth guard and provides patients with an excellent success rate for sleep apnea and snoring prevention. Dr. Nelson and his staff at Nelson Dentistry are very excited about the future of dental sleep medicine and look forward to being a part of the innovative treatment options that they can now offer to their patients. In 2012, Nelson Dentistry and Dental Sleep Medicine became the first facility in the state of Florida and one of the first 20 in the country to receive program accreditation from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). “The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine congratulates Nelson Dentistry on fulfilling the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a dental sleep medicine facility,” says Dr. Gail Demko, AADSM president.
