Florida Hospital Launches Pink Army Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel invites you to join the Pink Army, a fun campaign that strives to raise awareness and encourage women to get mammograms. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and is the perfect time to Join the Pink Army! One out of eight women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime. In fact, more than 225,000 women are estimated to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, and it is the one of the leading causes of cancer death in women. By having a routine mammogram and performing self-exams, women are much more likely to catch breast cancer at its early stages, where the chances of being cured are higher. This test is not only simple — it saves lives. Women often don’t get annual mammograms because they think they don’t have time or are afraid of finding something. But early detection is critical because a woman will be able to treat any cancer earlier and get a better prognosis. The treatment also can be less invasive and less difficult. Women can promote breast health by eating a healthy diet and maintaining a normal weight, having an active exercise

program, reducing stress where possible, tapping into a support network, performing monthly self-exams and having annual physical exams. Pink Army Soldiers Declaring War on Breast Cancer As part of a statewide effort, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is launching the Pink Army campaign to generate greater awareness about the life-saving benefits of annual mammograms and early detection. In the Pink Army campaign, each Pink Army “soldier” completes missions to move up the ranks. These missions include things like getting a mammogram, recruiting friends and even throwing a “Pink Party.” Once completed, each mission allows soldiers to climb the ranks and get fun, unique Pink Army rewards. Purchases of Pink Army gear and donations benefit the Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel Center for Women’s Health to provide mammograms to underinsured or uninsured women. We can win the fight against breast cancer. People can enlist, get screened and donate. Join the Pink Army today! Enlist today at JointhePinkArmy.com or visit FHWesleyChapel.org and click on

tinues to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle, steadily getting closer to her goal weight. Just from speaking with Carmen, I can tell she really cares about her students. She has such a beautiful soul, and inspiring personality and her story is one of encouragement – proving that age is just a number and it is never too late to take control of your health and get in the best shape of your life! Carmen says, “The goal for me is not only to invest in my own health, but to bring other people along who want to have a goal of losing weight and getting fit. I have seen it work in my own case so I know it works. Taking Zumba is my own personal testimony. It’s my story and I can help you too. Together we can do this.” As a part of the Brickhouse Cardio franchise, a state-of-the-art franchise that is sweeping the nation, Carmen and her experienced instructors are privy to some of the best Zumba training available. They are certified in many different types of Zumba, including basic Zumba Fitness, Zumba Gold – a low impact class ideal for the active senior or be-

ginning Zumba student – and Zumba Toning – Zumba classes incorporating the use of more weights to really help you tone your body. Brickhouse Cardio Tampa is also in the process of adding yoga to the schedule. For a complete list of classes and their scheduled times please visit www.BrickhouseCardio.com. More and more, people in this upcoming generation are choosing a sedentary lifestyle, opting for video games, computers and television as opposed to sports, dance and other activities. Carmen says, “There is not a lot of activity with the younger generations.” Because of this, Carmen stresses the importance of setting a good example for your children and grandchildren and emphasizes how crucial it is to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle, not just for yourself, but also for your family and loved ones. The older you get, the more important it is to stay active and keep moving, and not allow your body to deteriorate. Carmen says, “It’s kind of frustrating to see people my own age so out of shape, having to have knee

surgeries and hip surgeries because they don’t take care of themselves.” Zumba is such an energetic, happy way to exercise, and is a great way to release tension. “When you come to Zumba and turn on the music, you leave behind all the stresses of your day and the outside world,” says Carmen. With Zumba, each person is on their own individual level of what they can accomplish, and the best part is that every student is able to participate, regardless of their skill level, thanks to the wonderful instructors at Brickhouse Cardio Club Tampa who demonstrate modifications, allowing each student to go at their own pace based on their individual athletic abilities. “Zumba is perfect for anybody who wants to get fit,” says Carmen. “It really is for every ‘body’!” Brickhouse Cardio Tampa is conveniently located at 4920 Newkirk Dr. in Tampa. Their studio is open 6 days a week with classes offered throughout the day. For more information and a full schedule of classes please visit www.BrickhouseCardio.com or call (813) 443-4665.

Save Time and Money with Grout Tech By Kim Thomas Before you spend thousands of dollars remodeling and re-tiling your bathroom or kitchen be sure to call Grout Tech for a FREE estimate on cleaning or repairing old dingy tile and grout. Grout Tech can breathe new life into your existing tile work, making everything shine like new at a fraction of the cost. Grout Tech is a family owned business serving Pinellas and Pasco Counties. With nearly ten years of experience in the industry, Grout Tech specializes in cleaning and sealing tile and grout, re-coloring grout, re-caulking showers and tubs, and repairing grout and broken tiles. Grout Tech will renew existing grout and tile to its original beauty by cleaning and maintaining the tile and grout lines. John Cole and his wife were ready to re-tile their entire bathroom before calling BJ at Grout Tech. “Our bathroom tile was over 40 years old it was looking grungy and very dull. We called Grout Tech and we are extremely pleased with our results!

We saved so much money by having the grout in our shower resurfaced and the tile cleaned and it looks brand new,” John shares. BJ is happy to set your appointment, come out and give you a free estimate. She stresses, “It is important for me to be respectful of our customers’ time so I will always arrive at the time we set.” In addition to always arriving in a timely manner, BJ says that they can keep their prices low because they are a family owned business and not a franchise. She explains, “What many people don’t understand is that franchises are often forced to charge more for their services because they have to maintain their franchise fees, but not with Grout Tech.” Not only does Grout Tech keep its rates competitive, but the company will also honor any other quote as long as it is in writing. Because grout is a porous material, trying to remove stains is seemingly impossible. BJ explains, “Color sealing grout lines is one of the many services we offer and it is definitely the most effective way to create a perfect,

They will then apply a color seal (of your choice). Once the sealer is applied the grout lines will be permanently protected from any stains. The color seal also guarantees against cracking, chipping and peeling. We had our family room, kitchen and dining room re-grouted. They also re-grouted the tub, shower and base of our toilet in our bathroom. They were fantastic! Not only were they professional and reliable but they also completed the job much faster than we had anticipated.”

Excellent Service Leads to Referrals Throughout the years, Grout Tech has grown through its many referrals from happy customers. People really appreciate that Grout Tech saves them time and money, but it is the excellent service provided that has really helped this business grow. Doris Strathearn, another Grout Tech success story, said that before calling Grout Tech her bathroom and guest bathroom shower and floor grout had deteriorated over time and the tiles were dull and stained. “The tile was in good condition but it was stained so we had Grout Tech come

out and clean them and they turned out very well.” They were so pleased that they have already referred Grout Tech to neighbors in their community. Grout Tech can also remove and re-caulk around sinks, baseboards, tubs and showers serving to clean up old moldy areas and keep your dry wall free from water damage. From old to new in just one day! Life is Sweet at Sugardarlings Cones & Cupcakes! By Katie Thomas Sugardarlings Cones & Cupcakes, home to the best tasting, freshest cupcakes in the Tampa Bay Area, is a sweet business that has taken flight over the past three years. At Sugardarlings, the ice cream is delicious, but the cupcakes are the talk of the town! With a new warehouse and three storefronts located in New Port Richey, Palm Harbor and Lutz, Sugardarlings is celebrating growth and success from humble beginnings. Tasty creations are made from scratch every morning by talented bakers and plenty of love is put into each and every delicious flavor. You could call Sugardarlings’ cupcakes “love muffins,” a perfect nickname for the perfectly moist, flavorful cupcakes that are made with tender loving care. The closest Sugardarlings shop to your neighborhood is located at 24832 State Road 54 in Lutz. Jessica Beebe, owner and baker at Sugardarlings Cones and Cupcakes, opened her original store in Trinity,

off Old CR 54 in February 2010. She opened her first store with goals insight to become a friendly and affordable, neighborhood ice cream parlor – Jessica never expected for her business to take off all because of a simple sweet treat, the mighty cupcake. Jessica originally intended for cupcakes to be a side item at her first storefront, she actually started making them in her toaster oven! Within Jess’s first week of opening her doors, she sold over 300 cupcakes and immediately realized she would need a bigger oven to meet the demands of customers. At the time of opening Sugardarlings, Jess was working at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Tarpon Springs where she had been employed for over 13 years. Jess’s job primarily focused on food and beverage hospitality, a passion she has always possessed. Little did she realize, her attention would be needed at Sugardarlings full-time! Jess had no idea that within three years she would have three storefronts and a warehouse, all dedicated to providing handmade

Sugardarlings’ delectable cupcakes are such a sweet treat! Pauline’s Pretty in Pink & Pineapple Right Side Up are just two of many specialty cupcakes. cupcakes to loyal fans of the original “love muffin.” An idea of a neighborhood ice cream shop turned into a local cupcake empire – sweet dreams are made of these! The name Sugardarlings was inspired by Jess’s grandmother. She would always tell her grandchildren, “Come over her darling and get some sugar.” Jess’s mother reminded her of

her grandmother’s saying and Jess began calling her own children her “sugardarlings.” When she decided to open up shop, she knew it was the perfect fit for her store, paying homage to her grandmother, mother, children and future sweet generations to come. Jess treats customers as if they are her own family and is happy to help out the local community in any

way she can. Some might even say that the only thing sweeter than the Sugardarlings team, are the cupcakes and ice cream they serve! On a busy day, Sugardarlings’ three locations sell more than 2,000 cupcakes! Known for their extravagant moistness and creamy fillings, Sugardarlings’ cupcakes are the perfect combination of sweet, savory delicious fun! Jess offers traditional flavors like Red Velvet, Vanilla, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Snickerdoodle, but she also incorporates specialty flavors that include Key Lime, Cannoli and Exotic Bliss (Jess’s favorite) which is filled with pineapple and cranberry topped off with hibiscus frosting! Jess has even gone as far as coming up with fabulous savory flavors that are perfect for dinner parties with friends; imagine how much fun it will be for guests to guess the unexpected flavors such as Sweet Corn and Pulled Pork, Spicy Chocolate, Maple Bacon or Wasabi cupcakes. Talk about an adventurous twist on the conventional styles! Many of Jess’s regulars comment that it is a blast to pair the savory cupcakes with beer and wine, making for a delicious and fun way to get the conversation started! Sugardarlings Cones & Cupcakes

always introduces new seasonal flavors during the holidays. This year’s fall flavors include Pumpkin, Caramel Apple, Sweet Potato Casserole and Pecan Pie! There truly is no easier or more delicious treat than a batch of Sugardarlings’ cupcakes to bring to a holiday party! Sugardarlings’ cupcakes are made using quality and wholesome ingredients such as sweet cream butter, whole milk, whipping cream, fresh fruit juices and rich quality chocolates just to name a few. Each and every cupcake is made to make you smile with every bite! Jess is currently turning out gluten-free cupcakes for the glutensensitive and plans on transforming her Palm Harbor store location into a completely gluten-free cupcake haven! Jess says, “I have been super blessed! To think, I started baking out of a toaster oven one pan at a time! I could not have grown my business without an amazing staff. Our Sugardarlings family is the backbone to our amazing business. I also thank my family so much for being so supportive. My girls have had to sacrifice a lot of time without mommy around and my amazing husband was always available, so I could focus and grow my business.”

Jess’s growth over the past three years has allowed her to accommodate large commercial orders; in order to do this efficiently, she opened a warehouse. The warehouse is over 3,000 square feet and will help alleviate space restraints in her other stores. The warehouse is designated for baking and storage for now, but Jess hopes to host tours, field trips and tastings! Sugardarlings’ new warehouse is centrally located to all three stores, in order to provide the ever fresh, made-daily cupcakes to each deserving customer! At this time, Sugardarlings’ cupcakes are served at a few specialty candy shops and several medical facilities in the area including several Morton Plant Mease locations, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center of Trinity. Sugardarlings’ cupcakes can be bought in store for $2, add 25 cents extra for specialty flavors. Affordability is one of Jess’s baselines for her business. She truly wants everyone to enjoy a little taste of Sugardarlings heaven. Jess and her team make cupcakes for weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, family get-togethers, you name it and there will be cupcakes! Sugardarlings has the ability to handle large corporate orders, school

Suncoast Urgent Care is Where Patients Get In, Get Out & Feel Better Fast! By Amy Paterson Life is fast-paced, and time is of the essence, so when you’re feeling sick you probably don’t have time to sit at home waiting to get in to see a doctor. In most cases, Suncoast Urgent Care has everything necessary to make you feel better fast from all sorts of ailments, from the everyday illnesses such as common colds and strep throat to injuries that do not require the hospital emergency room. Scrapes, cuts and broken bones often happen after normal hours at doctors’ offices and many find that it is convenient, affordable and smart to seek medical care at Suncoast Urgent Care. Open seven days a week, and evenings with no appointment necessary, Suncoast Urgent Care is convenient and the friendly, competent medical professionals work hard, too, making sure that patients are seen quickly.

Founded by Families for Families Founded by families for families, Suncoast Urgent Care was originally named Trinity Urgent Care when it was opened July 2007 by John P. Opyoke, M.D. and Peter C. Duic, M.D. The doctors are joined by their wives in running two successful urgent care facilities – Susan Opyoke is a registered dietitian who is an integral part of the Doctor’s Choice Weight Loss program (developed and overseen by Drs. Duic and Opyoke) at Suncoast Urgent Care and Suzy Duic oversees the marketing. The doctors truly value family. The mission of Suncoast Urgent Care is to treat your family members as if they were their own. The doctors and their staff ensure quality and comfort to everyone from infants to seniors. Drawing from their years of experience in emergency medicine to create two state-of-the-art facilities – the

The two doctors felt it was important to provide a place where people could feel comfortable bringing their families. They co-designed Suncoast Urgent Care to be upscale and comfortable with an exceptional level of care, so parents can feel secure about bringing their precious child in for medical care. They created an urgent care facility where they would want their own children treated. The spacious waiting room has a large, flat-

The eight treatment rooms are equipped with TVs, including a stateof-the-art digital x-ray room and a major procedure room for casting, splinting and suturing. Phyicals are offered for all ages, as well as school physicals and sports physicals for students. With a physical, children receive a gift of either a lanyard or drawstring backpack (while supplies last). T-Dap vaccinations and flu-shots also are available for patients upon request. And in case you didn’t hear, flu shots are completely covered by MediCare now. Dr. Duic received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and received his training in emergency medicine at Harvard Medical School. Prior to emergency medicine, Dr. Duic trained in orthopaedics and surgery for three years at University of Massachusetts Medical School. Supporting Businesses, Students & Community Community, as well as family, is of the utmost importance at Suncoast Urgent Care. It isn’t just families and individuals who have enjoyed the excellent care provided at Suncoast Urgent Care since it opened in Trinity in 2007. Its location in the Trinity Village Center on State Road 54 at the corner of Duck Slough Boulevard makes it centrally located for many businesses in the area. Suncoast Urgent Care works with local businesses by providing them with excellent care encompassing occupational care, jobrelated injuries, drug-screening, and pre-hire physicals. On-site testing is available for drug-screens and lab work. The doctors at Suncoast Urgent Care follow through with workman’s compensation patients, overseeing their care throughout recovery until they are ready to return to work. In addition to providing excellent health care in our community, the doctors and staff at Suncoast Urgent Care has partnered with area schools and support local charities. They were a sponsor for Cheval Cares 5K on September 28th benefiting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. And, you may have noticed a pink toilet traveling around Trinity and New Port Richey this past month on a mission to “Flush Out Cancer.” With a $50 (or more) donation to Susan G. Komen, any

business will have their very own flowery pink potty placed in front of their establishment, letting the community know that they participated in the effort to “Flush Out Cancer.” Two of Suncoast Urgent Care’s employees are trying to raise the $2300 it takes for them to participate the 2013-2014 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. With their hard work and dedication, I am sure they will meet their goal! Another way that Dr. Duic and Dr. Opyoke are helping out in our community is by mentoring college students in the health programs from Rasmussen and Kaiser Universities. Suncoast Urgent Care has also allied with Pasco-Hernando Community College, and offers the students special pricing for their healthcare needs. Suncoast Urgent Care offers residents of all walks of life the best medical attention available. If you find yourself sick or injured, give them a call and they will get you back on the right track and feeling great in no time. Suncoast Urgent Care is located in Trinity at 10730 SR 54, Suite 54. Collaborative Divorce Don McBath is trained in collaborative divorce, a relatively new method of resolving divorce cases. In a collaborative divorce, lawyers for both parties agree to help their clients resolve conflicts through cooperative techniques rather than adversarial strategies and litigation. Everyone involved commits himself or herself to achieving a negotiated outcome

and there is no litigation involved. Some of the benefits of a collaborative divorce include more control over the outcome, you decide on the settlement (not a judge), it is less expensive than litigation, it takes less time than litigation, and there is less stress and anxiety. If negotiations fall apart at any time during the proceedings, either party can choose to go to litigation. “If you can go through a divorce in a peaceful manner, it is better for everyone involved – especially the children,” explains McBath. “When there are problems in a family, it is better for everyone if disagreements can be settled amicably instead of going to war. I always take the lead to work with the opposing side to determine where we can come to an agreement. A divorce that involves lots of fighting and disagreements is a very stressful rollercoaster ride that ends up costing both sides time and money in the long run.” If you’re at the point where a divorce seems inevitable, it is already a very difficult time in your life. Rely on someone like Don McBath who can make the process of making this change in your life easier and more peaceful for you. Attorney Don McBath is licensed

EZ Detail & Pressure Wash –The EZ Way to a Clean Car! You count on your car to get you where you need to go and you can count on EZ Detail & Pressure Wash to make sure that it looks great when you get there. In Florida you can find yourself driving your car through some pretty dirty situations. Construction sites filled with dust, beachside parking lots with seagulls leaving their droppings indiscriminately, highways filled with swarms of love bugs, parks with large oak trees full of pollen, hot Florida roads with soft tar – all these places we go can wreak havoc on your car’s finish and paint leading to rust, peeling paint, corrosion and other damage. This damage not only affects the look of your car today but also can cost you money in the long run for needed repairs or lost dollars on the resale value. You may not have the time or energy to keep your car looking its best but you can trust EZ Detail & Pressure Wash to do all the dirty work for you and return your car to its just-off-the-sales-lot glory. Owner Felipe Robles worked for car dealerships for years detailing and

bringing life back to the dullest of cars. He knows how to make a car shine and has many regular customers who depend on him to keep their car looking its best. “Every time we go to a new customer, we end up getting referrals from them and hearing from their friends and family,” says Felipe. “We have one company where we went to clean one person’s car and now have more than 10 people that trust us to clean and detail their cars. Every time we go there, more people ask us to clean their cars.” EZ Detail & Pressure Wash makes it easy for you to have a clean car – inside and out. They will come to your home, business, or school so you don’t have to waste any time out of your busy schedule. They provide their own water hook-up and all the necessary cleaning supplies. EZ Detail & Pressure Wash has a wide selection of car wash packages from the every day special – which includes washing the outside of the car, cleaning the wheels and outside windows, and dressing the tires – to the Presidential Detail, which in addition to the every

EZ Detail & Pressure Wash guarantees that they will take the same care and use the same high quality standards that they apply to your car when they are washing your driveway, sidewalks, windows, deck, patio, house, or place of business. Felipe and his family have been active members of this community for more than 10 years. He is also a pastor at their church. “St. Francis Pet” Continued from page 1 a job for my team. They see it as their mission, often coming in early, staying late to care for and restore our patients to wholeness. Our follow-up care is second to none.” Meet the Friendly Veterinarians Michael Amsberry, DVM and Laurie Greene, DVM combine their unique services to offer a wellrounded and holistic approach to veterinary care at St. Francis Pet Care Center. Dr. Amsberry bought St. Francis in 2010 and Dr. Greene joined him this year in May.

Dr. Michael Amsberry and Dr. Laurie Greene Dr. Amsberry was born the 7th of 8 boys and raised on farms in the

Willamette Valley of western Oregon. From the age of 12 until he graduated from veterinary school, he worked as a residential housepainter. He attended Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio earning a BA in Biology/Chemistry in 1986, and then attended Oregon State College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1990. Dr. Amsberry founded a small veterinarian practice in his hometown in 1995, which he ran successfully until he and his wife Jenny sold it in 2008 so they and their two teenage children could move to Florida to be close to Jenny’s family. The Amsberrys love it here and especially enjoy the East Lake area. Currently, their family pet members include a mother and son set of Yorkies, Truffles and Fudge, and two local rescued cats named Suri and Belle. Dr. Amsberry takes a cuttingedge approach in his practice and has developed special interests in preventative care, internal medicine, dermatology, geriatrics, dentistry, orthopedics, laser surgery and most recently, alternative care such as laser-therapy, nutrition, and acupuncture. He hopes to limit the use of drugs in his patients.

Dr. Laurie Greene hails from New York City, and is delighted to have escaped cold winters for good. She is a graduate of Ohio State University, and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. Dr. Greene enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, from wellness care to surgery, and has a strong interest in nutrition and alternative medical modalities. While in New York, Dr. Greene was affiliated with the prestigious Heart of Chelsea Animal Hospital, and had her own House Call Veterinary Practice. Dr. Greene has two sassy cats of her own; the frisky felines “allow” her to stay in their house and take care of all their needs. Dr. Greene is excited to be part of the team at St. Francis Pet Care Center and is delighted to help take care of the health needs of the lovable pets in our area. She is particularly eager to be part of St. Francis’ service expansion into alternative medical modalities such as acupuncture and laser therapy, and to include house calls and Hospice care among the many services offered at St. Francis Pet Care Center. Exceptional Services “We understand how important the presence of pets are in our lives,”

• www.NeighborhoodNewsFL.com OCTOBER 2013

says Dr. Amsberry. “I truly believe that pets are angels sent to help us through the tough times and join us in celebrating the good times. We strive to manifest our goals of complete wellness- care throughout our hospital, grooming, and resort.” The pet hospital at St. Francis is state-of-the-art and completely paperless, which allows the staff to view, send and display your pet’s medical records easily. All radiographs can easily be sent for a second opinion by a boarded radiologist and the results arrive within the hour. St. Francis has an in-house lab for quick test results. Dr. Amsberry says:

“It has become very apparent over the last 20 years that periodontal disease, while not only very uncomfortable, directly contributes to multiple diseases in the body. We are

convinced that excellent dental care will provide your pet with a much higher quality of life and increase his/her longevity. At least 60% of all dental disease in pets can only be detected with X-rays. We include full mouth X-rays with every dental so as not to miss anything that could be hurting your pet. Our X-rays are digital, and we review them with the Pet Parents at our discharge appointment.” One of the unique services that St. Francis offers is low-level laser therapy; with five FDA approvals for people, Dr Greene says the newest technology of laser healing is beneficial for everything from arthritis to helping wounds heal quicker. Dr. Greene specializes in pet acupuncture and can help you decide if acupuncture and laser treatment are right for your pet’s health.

St. Francis is a cat-friendly practice. A separate entrance and exam room have been designated to accommodate their feline friends. Dr. Greene also provides house-calls for kitties that are just too scared to make the trip in. With traditional and alternative veterinary services, a grooming Salon,

lodging at The Resort, hospice care and even house calls – St. Francis Pet Care Center truly offers it all. St. Francis Pet Care Center offers clients Preventicare Plans to help pet owners obtain excellent preventive care. This wellness assurance starts at $23.95 a month and can save you as much as 40%. Puppy and kitten plans are offered in addition to adult pets. “We started the program a year ago because we saw that a main concern of clients was related to being able to afford excellent health care for their pets,” says Dr. Amsberry. “Preventicare is a discounted program we designed and manage, which allows for clients to make regular monthly payments that spread out the financial burden. It secures very high quality preventative care for our patients.” As a bonus, there is no charge for the exams throughout the year and added discounts for The Resort and Salon. Grooming –– Salon at The Resort The groomers at St. Francis take pride in their art and are trained to keep a watchful eye on skin conditions or other discomforts in your pet. St. Francis offers three different “Spaw” Packages and even offers grooming for cats. The walk-in tub makes it so much easier for large breed dogs and those with mobility issues. There is nothing quite like having a freshly cleaned friend to play with and snuggle! St. Francis is dedicated to bringing you the best grooming techniques and products available, always looking out for the safety and comfort of your best friend. The Resort at St. Francis Pet Care Center focuses on your pet’s comfort and care. The team at St. Francis is the heart and soul of service. Guests get to stretch their legs in one of five play areas, at least 4 times

a day with optional pool time and pupsicles. Coming soon in the eight private suites will be cameras so that you may see how your pet(s) are doing from anywhere in the world 24/7. Your baby will get plenty of exercise and massive amounts of love at The Resort. The team loves to pamper all the guests visiting The Resort and cater to all their needs, making for a happy stay that isn’t overwhelming in any way. Giving Back The St. Francis Pet Care Center staff has a passion for helping pets. Dr. Amsberry believes in giving back to the community. He founded a non-profit program over a decade ago called “Vets For Pets”, dedicated to educating the community on pet wellness, safety and even helps place abused or mistreated animals in loving homes. Check out St. Francis’ facebook for photos and videos of their Extreme Pet Makeover series where St. Francis adopts a homeless pet in need of care, restores them to good health and then places them into a forever home. Dr. Greene says, “The stories are emotional and phenomenal! This program gives us a chance to connect with the community on a compassionate level, while showing the miracles that can occur with love and veterinary care” Both the doctors and staff members visit schools frequently to teach

kids about dog safety and how to approach or deal with animals. Dr. Amsberry became involved in dog bite prevention 20 years ago and developed the program called “Nip the Bite,” because many children are bitten each year, suffer both physical and emotional injuries, often developing a life-long fear of dogs. Teaching children the proper way to approach and behave around dogs prevents bites. St. Francis Pet Care Center will be visiting public libraries and local pet stores to present their “Pet Edge” series that discuss topics from Chinese herbs to heat-stroke prevention. Make sure you stay updated with St. Francis Pet Care Center’s website and facebook page for information regarding upcoming events, Extreme Pet Makeover stories and Pet Edge dates. For those wanting to “Wag more and Bark Less” look for the up and coming “Tails and Ales” parties that St. Francis will be hosting at local tap houses around the community! St. Francis Pet Care Center is located at 3591 Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs. It is open on Mon–Fri, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sat., 8 a.m. -Noon. “Spine Center” Continued from page 1 patients traditionally see multiple doctors who do not work together. Whether you need chiropractic care or spinal surgery, it is all under one roof at the Trinity Spine Center. The Trinity Spine Center is very unique in its approach, and is at the forefront of stem cell research to reduce back pain. As a result, Trinity Spine Center draws patients from all over the state and the nation. It’s no surprise, because patients there have the opportunity to meet with surgeons and receive diagnostic testing, as well as receive chiropractic care, attend physical therapy and even receive pain management care all in one place, at their very own Trinity Wellness Center, an integral part of Trinity Spine Center. Patients appreciate this ease of care, because when your back hurts, traveling all over town from one doctor to the next can be a difficult and painful thing to do. George, a Trinity Spine Center patient said, “I went to see Dr. Hayes after I read an article about him. I thought I would need back surgery after a car accident but since I’ve been going to Trinity Spine Center, I am feeling much better and I will probably not need surgery!” Conservative Care by Doctors That Care The doctors and staff at The Trinity Spine Center believe that surgery should be a last resort, and as a matter of fact, 94 percent of their patients are treated without the need for spinal surgery. From degenerative disk or joint disease to scoliosis, and carpal tunnel to osteoporosis, Trinity Spine Center patients are treated by a team of highly educated and specifically trained professionals, who will work

together to get patients back on their feet in no time. Having everything you need on hand and in one place gives patients peace of mind, but most importantly, it makes it easy for all of the doctors to communicate easily about the best approach to each patient’s unique medical condition and treatment. Chief Operating Officer, Jorit Wijnmaalen, DPT, MBA, MTC, CEAS, or “Dr. J” as he’s known, says, “One of the most important aspects of our patient care is the communication that we have with one another. We are never more than a phone call away and patients see that and really appreciate it.” Dr. J’s approach to wellness, exercise and nutrition is an inspiration to many patients at The Trinity Spine Center, and he encourages patients to realize that no matter their age, size or condition, regular exercise will contribute to their overall health and wellbeing. The Trinity Spine Wellness Center offers patients the least invasive approach to spine care including physical therapy, chiropractic care, decompression therapy and even nutritional services. Dr. Ronald F. Stacey II, DC, is a Board Certified Chiropractor, and has been with Trinity Spine Center since 2009. He says, “We have an array of specialties under one roof, and we can start conservatively and move each patient up to the next option if it’s necessary.” He adds, “It avoids having to have each patient see a chiropractor at one place, a primary at another, and so on. Here we can provide a plan of [total spinal] care.” Dr. Nathan A. Possert graduated from East Lake High School before honorably serving in the U.S. Navy for 4 years in which he was Quarter master and a search and rescue swimmer. After serving in the Navy, he

graduated with honors from St. Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs in 2004 and then transferred to the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training and graduated with honors in 2006. While attending graduate school, Dr. Possert was able to work with high school athletes part time in Pinellas County as an Athletic Trainer for two years. Since graduating with his Doctorate, Dr. Possert has worked in the outpatient facility setting full time and in the hospital setting part time. Dr. J says, “A whole lot of patients will benefit from this new and exciting approach.” He explains, “We are the only ones in the U.S. doing it like we do it, and we are also the only ones at this time who are FDA compliant.” Working closely with Daniel A. Grande, PhD., the Director of the upand-coming Stem Cell Research Laboratory at Trinity Spine Center, patients who suffer from arthritis, degenerative disk disease, and herniated disks may find relief through Stem Cell Therapy.
