The Maids Are Here Clean Up So You Don’t Have To By Deborah Bostock-Kelley Most people would rather have someone else do the dirty work. In today’s hectic pace, maid service has become an integral part of the monthly family budget. Once seen only as a luxury to the rich and famous, maids have become staples in working households who attempt to balance work and family, with little to no time for household chores.

lyricists. Great names we remember from the past, like Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Lorenz Hart, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Kurt Weill, Jerry Bock, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim – as well as contemporary artists like Steven Schwartz and Jonathan Larson – have been instrumental in Broadway’s growth and history. Congregation Kol Ami in Tampa will celebrate such Jewish contributions to the American Musical Theater with “A Jewish Night on Broadway” on Saturday evening, November 19, 2016. Jewish artists have played a pivotal role in the creation of musicals and development of Broadway. It is hard to imagine Broadway without their achievements. Even Monty Python’s Eric Idle acknowledged in his own award-winning musical Spamalot, “You won’t succeed on Broadway if you don’t have any Jews.” The gala will showcase live performances from some of the greatest Tony-nominated and award winning Broadway musicals. The evening’s

The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village by Bill Norman Custom Homes By Marcy Sanford Do you love Carrollwood but are tired of the time and money you spend on the upkeep of your older home? Something special is happening in the heart of Carrollwood Village, something unusual and unique – new home construction in the location you love, convenient to all your favorite stores and restaurants but tucked away in its own tranquil setting bordered by a conservation area. And because the homes are being built by Bill Norman Custom Homes you can rest assured that the construction, design, and finishing details of your new home will be second to none. Located on Pittsfield Avenue off Lowell Road, The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village is a planned community of 30 villas. Bill Norman Custom Homes, known for their attention to detail, solid construction, and top-of-the-line finishing touches, has brought their expertise in home design and details to the project. “We want our home buyers to get exactly what they want,” said Bill Norman Custom Homes Vice President Patrick Norman. “We want them to enter their new home with a smile.” A new home at The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village will give you plenty of reasons to smile. Each 3 bedroom, 2.5-bath villa in the gated, upscale community has a 2-car garage, lanai for outdoor entertaining, and spacious backyard. “We looked at communities throughout Tampa Bay to see what features homeowners most
appreciated and incorporated those into our new homes,” said Patrick. Thanks to more than 30 years building multi million dollar custom homes, the builders at Bill Norman Custom Homes know how to include extras to help homeowners make their new home special. “We have 2 floor plans to choose from and depending on the one you choose you can add a den or office space. When I visited other communities I did not like the way the model home would feature upgrades that drove up the cost of the base price of the home. At The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village upgrades are standard.” When customizing your home you can choose from: - 2 styles of wood floor with 4 different finishes

in the design of the homes. The laundry room is located on the same floor as the master suite. The master suite has plenty of room for a king size bed and a comfy seating area for reading and relaxing. The master bath has a walk-in shower and dual sinks. The gourmet kitchen features a large island to make entertaining fun and easy. All of the villas at The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village feature 10-foot ceilings throughout. Low Maintenance: When you live at The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village, you will truly have a place where you can come home and relax. Thanks to quality building materials and easy to maintain stucco, the outside of your new home will stay beautiful year round. The Mediterranean Style homes have

sturdy, yet elegant tile roofs. And the landscaping in the common areas and Villa front yards is handled by the HOA. Additionally all of the doors and windows are hurricane resistant and energy efficient offering you and your family greater protection for the elements and lower energy bills. “We have had a lot of calls and interest in these villas,” said Patrick. “If someone is interested in knowing more, I’d encourage them to call soon before they are all sold.” For more information about The Sanctuary at Carrollwood Village visit www.sanctuaryatcarrollwood.com or call Michelle Fitz Randolph with Coldwell Banker Real Estate at 813-263-7344.

Ledo Pizza in Carrollwood By Mike Bird Michael and Patty Trevethan have been running Ledo Pizza in Carrollwood for the past 15 years. It is a family owned operation with the benefits of a franchise backing them. Michael explains that quality ingredients and customer service are the key to their restaurant’s success, and they strive to make everyone who visits feel like family. And that is exactly how you feel as soon as you walk inside this lovey Pizzeria. The Trevethans moved here from Virginia back in 2000, and Michael started out in the kitchen. Since then he has mastered all aspects of the business, and flits between both the back and front of the house. Michael currently manages the store and often ends up back in the kitchen making amazing pizza, something he loves to do. When I asked Patty and Michael why they had picked the Ledo franchise instead of any other pizza chain, Michael said “Patty and I tried to find a pizza like we had back home. When we couldn’t find the taste or quality we were looking for here in Tampa, we decided to open our own Ledo Pizza Restaurant. This way we could enjoy the same type of pizza we had back home!” The concept was simple: to provide high quality food at a great value in a comfortable, family atmosphere, and the Treventhans have achieved just that. Michael and Patty’s home reminiscent tasting pizza won them “The best pizza in Tampa award from the A List in 2014.” One of the voters had only positive things to say about Ledo Pizza; “OMG, everything is good about Ledo's! The flaky crust, the wonderful slightly sweet sauce, the

Also, I heard it was voted by Oprah a few years ago as the best pizza in America! YUM!” said Cathi P., back in December, 2014. It is hard to believe that LEDO has been making pizza since 1955.
After all, pizza seemed to be a passing trend when a restaurant opened in Adelphi, Maryland. Lucky for us, this trend is here to stay! The families that created LEDO Pizza now pass the tradition to other families in new areas. These franchises

uphold the high standards that made the LEDO Pizza famous. The legacy lives on today and Carrollwood neighbors are definitely noticing it! Very little has changed since 1955. The pizza is still made the same way. It is rolled to order with fresh handmade dough, prepared every two hours, topped with the same high quality cheese and the same style tomatoes. It may take a little longer, but it sure is worth it. There are some unique qualities of LEDO Pizza that come from its long history. People often ask why LEDO Pizza is rectangular. The
Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles
round pizza pans commonly seen today were very new in the fifties. Rectangular baking pans were readily available, hence the square pizza. Since that time, round pans have become the rage, as pizza operators are able to cut costs by giving the appearance of more, while actually offering less. “Ledo pizza is square because we don’t cut corners!” Another factor that makes Ledo’s pizza taste so deliciously remarkable is the fact that they use smoked provolone instead of mozzarella cheese. Do not expect them to cut corners on their cheese use either! They put over a lb of fresh cheese on their large pizzas! If that alone does not make your mouth water, imagine this cheesy goodness topped with

thick slices of pepperoni! Ledo’s thick pepperoni pizza is also a trademark, and one of my personal favorites. Its particular size resulted from the cooks cutting the pepperoni by hand. The thicker the slice, the faster the work was finished. The customers loved it so much, that they continued doing it that way. Their craft pizzas showcase Ledo’s passion for pizza, and their creative mix of ingredients, variety of sauces and fresh cheese combinations will please all palates. For example, one of their specialty pizzas the “Whole Hog” consists of a wildly delicious combination of LEDO sauce, sliced wild boar sausage, ham, capicola, bacon and smoked Provolone cheese.
Yum! The “Spring Chicken” is made with Garlic herb aioli sauce, fresh basil leaves, sliced chicken topped with smoked Provolone, fontina, asiago and Parmesan cheese. Another inventive pizza, “The Hotlanta BBQ” showcases their signature crust drizzled with Urban Bar-B-Que Yella sauce, topped with sliced chicken, bacon, jalapeños and provolone cheese There is something for everybody at Ledo’s! They even have vegan options, and many gluten free items. While their entrees and subs have somewhat a shorter history, they have become famous as well. All their subs are made with freshly baked bread and stuffed with Ledo’s favorite items. Their Italian salad is large enough for a meal and comes with their famous LEDO salad dressing. Other delicious entrees include lasagna, calzones, spaghetti, soup, salad, breadsticks and even chicken wings! Their innovative cooking style and use of sauces are reflected not only in their pizzas, but their wings as well. One of their latest creations is called “Dragon Fire”, which includes 4 top secret spices, mixed with buffalo sauce. Guaranteed to satisfy not only those with an affinity for heat, but also the adventurous looking to try something new and excite their taste

buds. Michaeland Patty hope you enjoy their new Dragon Fire wing sauce, as much as I did. So please let them know what you think about it when you stop by! As the holidays approach, the Trevethans are preparing for big rush orders. The day before thanksgiving is the busiest day for them. But they are more than ready, and excited to sell a lot of pizzas to our Carrollwood community! Check out all of the food items available on their menu by visiting their website: ledopizza.com/store/carrollwood/ I don’t know about you, treating your co-workers, friends or relatives to some Ledo’s this season, sounds like a pretty great gift to me. Gift cards are also available. Catering services also provided. Please call Michael for further details at 813-964-5700 They are located at 14432 Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618. This location boasts a giant flag flying the “Ledo Pizza” name proudly. It’s hard to miss! and now that you know the name, history and all they offer, you won’t drive by without a visit.

“Maids” Continued from page 1 service can be a difficult process. That is why Yamelis Imhof decided to make the selection process for choosing The Maids Are Here an easy one. Yamelis offers a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and the company is bonded, insured, and licensed for client’s protection. With a rigorous interview process, background check procedures, and indepth training period, Yamelis assures that all of her employees are properly vetted. Many new clients are surprised to find out just how affordable Yamelis’ cleaning services are. “We give a fair price that is based on the client’s home and need,” she said. “When we have new clients we explain in detail exactly what we are going to do.” Imhof, born in Havana, Cuba and a naturalized United States Citizen, founded her company in 2008 and covers both Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. The Maids Are Here specializes in residential house cleaning, including Move In/Move Out Cleaning, Seasonal Deep Cleans, Ongoing
Recurring Service, Special Occasion Cleanings, and even special Deep Cleans for homes that go on the market for sale. Prices vary by size of home and services requested, but The Maids Are Here offers free estimates online and by phone. “We have seen an increase in homes that are for sale calling for Deep Cleans. Everyone wants to buy a clean home and many times, the new owners stay with us to clean up once they have moved in and then we keep them clean all year long,” she said. Yamelis said the best way to choose a maid service is for the client to explain exactly what he or she is looking for. “Is it a Move Out, Special Occasion, etc.?” She asked, “Be sure the company can do that work. They should also know the size of their home; that helps set the price properly. Of course, you should always ask if the company is licensed, bonded, and

insured – which we are. But, surprisingly many are not.” Imhof explained that the reasons why clients hire The Maids Are Here are as varied as the clients themselves and she loves hearing the stories behind her new clients. “Some have a recent operation and we help them heal by cleaning for them; some have been working more hours; some want to surprise their spouse; some are now pregnant and want to get the home ready; many others I think finally realize that it’s just better to let us clean it up,” she said, “Anytime you pick up the vacuum or the mop or the scrub brush, think hard what you’d really rather be doing, then call us and go do it. You can live your life and let us clean it up.” Imhof is proud of her employees and said that they are what separates her company from other maid
services. Imhof says, “Part of this process is we have a survey discount that we give clients for taking our online survey after their cleaning. And then we reward our team members for those surveys.” Another benefit of The Maids Are Here is that it is pet-friendly. “We know how special your pets are to you and we take extra care to make sure they stay safe with minimal stress. We take extra care to make sure your pets also enjoy a fresh cleaned home,” she said. Imhof also offers special promotions on her website. Some discounts are for one-time services and others continue the client’s savings by choosing recurring services. “Everything starts by having the right team members that care like we do; we cherish our clients. We want to create raving fans of our clients,” Imhof said, “Everyone feels so energized and positive when they step into a clean and fresh smelling home. We clean and bring happiness.” To learn more about The Maids Are Here or to get a free quote, please call (813) 756-4697 or visit TheMaidsAreHere.com.

Carrollwood Players Celebrates 35 Years in the Community By Deborah Bostock-Kelley If you haven’t been to Carrollwood Players Theatre for a while or maybe you never heard of this theatre gem tucked into a nondescript shopping complex, it’s time for a visit. Celebrating its 35th year as Tampa’s oldest continually-running nonprofit community theatre, with a gift of fresh paint, a new stage, and lobby makeover, the theatre has become a vibrant showcase of masterful dramas, comedies, and musicals on its Mainstage. The season includes Deathtrap, Proof, an original take on A Christmas Carol, Lie, Cheat and Genuflect, The Red Velvet Cake Wars, All My Sons, Incorruptible, An Act of the Imagination, and A Little Murder Never Hurt Anyone. Mainstage also features its highly regarded One Act Weekend. Whether you are hoping for knee-slapping comedy, a little funny-bone tickling, a romantic interlude, or to have your heart ripped out and stomped on repeatedly, “described as channel surfing live people,” by a patron, One Act Weekend has yet to disappoint. The season recently opened with the sold-out production of The Addams Family Musical, voted by patrons in 2015 to be the musical of choice for 2016-2017. However, La Cage aux Folles was such a close contender, the theatre chose to do two of the three musicals vying for patron vote. With the success of the inaugural “Adopt a Musical,” patrons will be able to vote for their favorites for the 2017-2018 season later this year. Brought to life in April 2015, inside the lobby of the Mainstage theatre is CWP Black Box. Black Box is
the vision of dozens of volunteers, helmed by patron and past board member Jim Russell. Before, a wasted space for storage, fast forward a little over two years and the intimate 50seat Black Box is a celebrated theatre within the theatre for staged readings, original musicals, one acts, contemporary performances, musical revues, festivals, concerts, and more. Black Box staged readings are not a line of actors sitting in a row of chairs reading the script. They are high energy, almost fully staged productions with a set, costumes, props, lights and sound effects, and the actors move around the set carrying their scripts. The 2016-2017 season includes

Black Box will also feature two fully staged productions - the Tampa premiere of the New York bound musical comedy If I Embarrass You, Tell Your Friends—Belle Barth is Back and the gripping drama, Agnes of God. Both Mainstage and Black Box always seek volunteers to work front of house selling concessions, checking patrons in, handing out playbills, or selling raffle tickets. In return, you see the show for free.
If you’ve never heard of this little theatre with big talent and even bigger heart or you haven’t stopped by in a few months or even a few years, this season is the perfect opportunity to add affordable live theatre to your entertainment options. Carrollwood Players is located at 4333 Gunn Highway and offers 8pm performances Fridays and Saturdays, and 3pm Sunday. Mainstage Non-Musical Tickets are $23 adult, $20 seniors, students and military. Hancock Injury Attorneys: Exceptional Legal Care Right Here in Carrollwood professionalism in resolving my case in a timely manner. You and your office resolved in a few months what my first attorney could not get any response in almost 2 years. Your knowledge of the law and the amount of time it took was very impressive and greatly appreciated and I will highly recommend you and your firm to anyone who needs legal assistance. The difference between my first attorney and yourself was night and say. You were so much more professional, neat and prepared and kept me updated all throughout the process and again I could not be more pleased with how you handled everything,” said P.K. of Lutz. “I had an excellent experience with Mr. Michael Hancock. He is very honest, clear, knowledgeable and trustworthy. He does not put any pressure on his client. What I find special in Mr. Hancock that the other attorneys do not have is that he is not money hungry. He works for the best of his client and he is very straight forward. I
When hiring an injury attorney, you shouldn’t have to assume you need a downtown lawyer. Fortunately, with Hancock Injury Attorneys, this assumption could not be further from the truth. “It’s important to choose an attorney whose practice is dedicated to helping the client. Clients should hire an attorney who knows them by name, as opposed to a large law firm who will only view them as number,” says Mike Hancock, owner and partner at Hancock Injury Attorneys. A second generation Tampa native, Mike Hancock attended Jesuit High School, the University of Florida and South Texas College of Law. His parents still live in the home he grew up in just north of Lake Carroll. Mike and his law partner and wife Claire, have been homeowners in Original Carrollwood since 1992, where they have raised their two daughters. Mike established Hancock Injury Attorneys in 1996 and is proud to be celebrating
its 20 year anniversary. In addition to representing injury clients, Mike volunteers as Legal Counsel with the Carrollwood Civic Association of Original Carrollwood and this year is President of the Carrollwood Bar Association. Living and working in Carrollwood, the family at Hancock Injury Attorneys is committed to providing exceptional client service. highly recommend Mike Hancock,” added B.H.B. of Tampa. Nowadays, clients seeking representation are hard-pressed to find an attorney ready and willing to give them and their case the individualized attention it requires. Attorney Mike Hancock, however, is the exception to this as he himself performs every new client consultation. Consultations are completely free of cost and last anywhere from 1-2 hours in duration. This is a vital stride that aids in establishing an open and trustworthy client-attorney relationship. Mike Hancock brings 28 years of personal injury and wrongful death experience to the table. The first 8 years of his career were devoted to handling insurance defense claims. He knows the defense side inside and out and has absolute knowledge on the claim evaluation process. the past 23 years. Nicole is an admitted blowout addict, and with a high stress career (as a PR & Crisis Communication Consultant for large corporations), she often used blowout salons to save herself time, and with a good blowout costing just $35, it was a luxury that a working mom could afford to give herself. The problem was convenience. There were no blowout salons near her home in Carrollwood. Needing a change and being entrepreneurial minded; Nicole first turned to her longtime friends, savvy women she’d grown to know and love in college. On a beach getaway, Nicole pitched her idea, and Brush Blow & Go was born “over wine and waves,” says Nicole. “My girlfriends and I talked about everything, the name, the concept, the look – all of it came together that weekend.” Creating the brand was the easy, fun part. Pitching it to her business

Together we’ve created everything you see today.” First a customer of this type of salon, Nicole says that she still looks at everything from a customers’ point of view. She admits there is an amazing salon of this type in Tampa, but not in Carrollwood. She saw a need locally and strives to make Brush Blow & Go

as good as any of her competitors. “I wanted to create an affordable and convenient luxury in my community!” The salon is closed on Mondays, but Nicole says many of their clients have standing appointments throughout the week. “They’ll come in for a blowout on Tuesday and, with the right product, it can last them until Friday when they come back in to get another for the weekend.”

I went to Brush Blow & Go on a day when I had three appointments lined up in three different counties and the thought of styling my hair just stressed me out even more. That is what is great about this place – it completely takes the stress out of the equation! Stepping inside Brush Blow & Go is like stepping into a boutique salon in a quaint, upscale Southern town – maybe because its planning came about on the beautiful sandy beaches of Florida’s Gulf of Mexico. The space is beautifully decorated and the open airiness makes it feel much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Rustic elements and vintage style lighting add comfort to elegance – in other words, Brush Blow & Go is the perfect place to escape for an hour of affordable luxury. In the time it takes to go to lunch, I took a vacation; closed my eyes and listened to upbeat music and let my stylist Cierra work her magic. I walked in looking embarrassingly unpolished, but when I stepped out, I looked finished, polished, with a bounce in my hair that gave me a little more bounce in my step and ready to face the rest of the day with confidence.

Next to Cierra and me, Estrella was talking to a client, while Darlina worked on an elegant updo for new customer Robin, who happened to see the new salon when she was at the dry cleaners in the same plaza. With her only daughter getting married soon, Robin came in to see if they could give her an updo that she would love. She was very pleased and relieved to have one more decision made about the very important mother-of-the-bride ensemble, stating, “I’m so glad I found this place! It’s convenient and the place is beautiful! And they did a great job on my hair.” Specializing in the finishing touches to your beauty routine, Brush Blow & Go offers updos for every special occasion and blowouts that truly make your hair look amazing for days. In addition to the great hair stylists, makeup artists are on hand to
give you those fabulous smoky eyes or natural daytime look, knowing the tricks of the trade for every day makeup and special occasions. Brush Blow & Go carries some excellent products that Nicole herself uses and approves. “There is nothing here that I haven’t used myself,” says Nicole. Personally, I like to hear about a product from a person who has actually used it and benefited from it, so when Nicole told me about the amazing lash serum, Grande LashMD, and what it has done for her lashes, I had to buy it! Nicole says it has been a great product for women whose lashes are getting thinner due to age or damage. Nicole is excited about a brand new service that wasn’t yet being offered when I visited, but is now! Brush Blow & Go is the very first salon in Florida to offer the amazing new UK-based treatment, LVL Lash Lift. LVL stands for length, volume and lift and the product is gaining rave reviews and is so popular in Europe that women use the phrase, “I’m going to get an LVL.” Nicole says, “This is an all natural, all organic service that adds volume, length and lift

Then, with a little tint, you won’t need to wear mascara for six to eight weeks!” Natalie, their facial specialist and Nouveau Lash technician, can not only perfect your eyebrows with shaping and tinting but can also enhance your natural eyelashes creating the effect of longer, lifted lashes in less than one hour. During the holidays, Brush Blow & Go has an amazing offer: Every LVL service will include a complimentary weekday blowout valued at $35.
