Compassion is Key at Centra Care Urgent Care
By Deborah Bostock-Kelley It is very likely if you speak to the doctor responsible for urgent care at Centra Care, with her smile that makes you feel like everything will be okay, you will immediately sense the passion she has for her work and her patients. Dr. Nkem Uzo doesn’t talk about
her job like it’s just a job. In an office that feels nothing like a typical sterile, urgent care facility, being the doctor at the Linebaugh Ave location is simply her calling.

Local Author Publishes “The Vulnerable”, an Intriguing Non-Fiction Novel About Saving Her Brother From True Evil Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with local author Betsy MacDonald to talk about her new book, “The Vulnerable”. A true story, The Vulnerable is an intriguing book about Betsy’s Autistic brother Michael who suffers from Asperger’s and her journey to reconnect with her family and help Michael escape a tortuous relationship with a couple that was supposedly caring for him while all the while they were taking advantage of him, abusing, and even poisoning him, slowly trying to murder him and make it look like an accident just to gain his inheritance. The Vulnerable has all the makings of a Hollywood thriller, but like I said, this tale is unfortunately non-fiction. Speaking of Hollywood, Betsy is meeting with some movie producers that sought her out after reading her book, so a screenplay may very well be next. During our interview Betsy described to me some of the horrible things that these sick people did to her brother; it made my stomach flip flop. I can’t imagine how anyone could live with himself or herself after committing such heinous acts; manipulating an
autistic person for their own personal gain. It’s absolutely disgusting, and when I asked Betsy what her ultimate goal was in telling her story she replied, “I just want to make people aware of what can happen to the ones we love, especially those who may become vulnerable without the right people in their lives. I want to help people see that they need to make a plan, especially if they have a child or a loved one with Autism. I want people to really think about what could happen to that person if they weren’t around, that way they can prepare and hopefully prevent something terrible from happening, because once it’s too late there might not be anyone around to protect them.” I don’t want to give too much of the book away, but what I will report is that Betsy has saved Michael and he currently lives with Betsy and her husband locally. I personally have a close friend, whom I’ve known since high school, with Asperger’s so this story really hits home for me. Betsy says, “Knowledge is power. It is my wish that by hearing our story, maybe one person’s life can be saved!”

DECEMBER 2015
Sunday, Dec. 13th at 4:30 pm The Chancel Choir and Orchestra of Grace Lutheran Church at Carrollwood (3714 W. Linebaugh Avenue, Tampa) will present a service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 13h at 4:30 PM. Featured in this event will be Soprano soloist Lisa Katt Watson and Harpist Dolly Roberts. A reception will be held following the service. The tradition of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols has been popularized by the Choir of Kings College, Cambridge, England where the first presentation was made in 1910. British composer, John Rutter, has arranged the Anthems and Carols which will be sung by the choir and congregation. Contact the church office (813) 961-8747) for directions or questions.
Carrollwood Players Theatre Steps into the Holiday Season with Scrooge, the Musical The Carrollwood Players Theatre
offers holiday shoppers a delightful respite from the seasonal hustle and bustle with their production of Scrooge, the Musical at the Carrollwood Players Theatre, 4333 Gunn Highway, Friday, November 27 through Saturday, December 19 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm. This adaptation of Dickens’ immortal A Christmas Carol closely follows the original story but with a lively score written by academy award winner Leslie Bricusse. Songs include the Oscar nominated “Thank You Very Much,” the toe-tapping “December the 25,” and the wistful “Happiness.” The sometimes dark tale of the cantankerous Ebenezer Scrooge and his night of redemption and transformation is a Christmas staple that becomes more lighthearted in the hands of Carrollwood Players director Jeff Lukas. The production features Rob L’Ecuyer as Ebenezer Scrooge, Sam Burke as Bob Cratchit, Faith Clark as The Ghost of Christmas Past, Nicholas Knetxke as The Ghost of Christmas Present, Jeffrey M. Lukas as The Ghost of Jacob Marley, Bradley

Carrollwood Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles
13th. All boaters and paddlers of canoes, kayaks, etc. in the Tampa Bay area are invited to JOIN the FUN at the Boat Parade for Everyone! Paddlers and boaters are needed to help create this FREE community event, sponsored for the 16th consecutive year by Friends of the River. This annual community tradition celebrates another year of life in a city with a restored, beautiful river running through it. On Sunday, December 13, 2015 boaters will assemble at 5:30 pm at Lowry Park Boat Ramp. The parade begins at 6:00 pm, arriving upriver at Sulphur Springs Park at approximately 7:00 pm. This event begins and ends at two City of Tampa Parks: It begins at Lowry Park Boat Ramp, on the Hillsborough River: 7525 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33604. The parade ends at Sulphur Springs Park, 701 E. Bird St. Tampa, FL 33604. Spectators may enter along the fishing bridge just north of Pool Pavilion, or through the parking area via Nebraska Ave. entrance between Bird St. and the Hillsborough River bridge. The event is held at dusk on the
Sunday evening in December prior to Christmas during which the tide is at its highest that month. This year, the high tide is at 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 13, and will be low by 9:00 pm, 2 hours after the end of the event. Boaters put in or meet at the Lowry Park Boat Ramp. The sun will set that evening at 5:35 pm. We ask everyone to be on the river by 5:45. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. and takes approximately one hour to reach its terminus on the River between I275 and Nebraska Ave. at Sulphur Springs Park, where a community party will welcome your arrival. Paddlers lead the parade, and powerboats bring up the rear. A designated safety boat will separate the two contingents, ensuring no power boat advances into the zone where paddlers are moving upriver at their own pace. The event is a slow parade – not a race! All participants are asked to proceed in a slow and safe manner. FAQs What kind of boat may participate? Whatever you've got that floats! This is the holiday boat parade for everyone! Paddlers of kayaks, canoes, jon-boats, and paddleboards are welcome, as are motor boats. Decorate your boat, whatever you've got, with

battery powered LED lights (now available everywhere for ~$3/string) or with yard decorations on powerboats, operated by car batteries with inverters. Be creative! Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Anyone 18 years of age and up may participate as individuals piloting their own vessel. Minors under 18 are permitted on boats captained by an adult. ALL participants, regardless of age, must complete a hold harmless liability waiver prior to the event. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Free parking is available at the Lowry Park Boat Ramp. Boaters return back down river to the park after the parade, making a round trip circuit up and then downriver. Do I have to register via ticket to watch the Holiday Boat Parade event? No, tickets (which are free) are only for those who are participating IN the parade on a boat. Spectators need not acquire a ticket – just come to either park or anywhere in between along the river. For more information or additional questions please contact the parade organizer, Phil Compton with Friends of the River, at pmcomptonfl@gmail.com

European Wax Center Carrollwood – Give the Gift of Beautiful Skin! By Alexis Selby Looking for a great gift idea for your loved one or friend this holiday season? Why not give the gift of beautiful skin, with a fabulous waxing package or gift card from European Wax Center in Carrollwood. Whether your gift receiver has never been to European Wax Center before, or has been coming for years, I’m sure he or she will really appreciate this thoughtful gift – I know I would! And, if your loved one is already a regular at European Wax Center, that makes it even easier. “All you have to do is call us up or come in to our store and we can look up their information, that way we know exactly what services they get; you can either purchase a package for them or apply credit to their account,” says Ashley, the Designated Manager at EWC Carrollwood. “You also have the option of buying a gift card, so they can choose the services they want.” This really is a fantas-

tic gift idea, because you know that it is something they will use. Specializing in full body waxing for both men and women (excluding select areas for men), European Wax Center of Carrollwood provides a very gender-neutral atmosphere, where people of all genders can feel comfortable and relaxed. “We get a lot of men in here,” says Ashley.
“Our girls are extremely professional and do a great job of making the guys feel comfortable.” At European Wax Center, they are so sure that you are going to love their wax, that, as a nationwide promotion, they offer all first-time Florida resident customers a complimentary wax, with no purchase necessary. For women, this includes a free brow, un-

derarm or bikini line wax, and for the men, a free ear, nose or brow wax. Ashley says, “We offer free waxing for first time customers because we know, that once they try our wax they are going to love it and will stay with us for years to come!” I still remember my first time coming to European Wax Center Carrollwood over two years ago. I had only ever done traditional waxing, so I had no idea what to expect. From the first wax, I was hooked! I couldn’t believe how little it hurt as compared to regular waxing. Instead of the traditional thick wax that is pulled off with strips, EWC has formulated their own

exclusive Comfort Wax, that is made from 100% natural beeswax, that once applied to the skin naturally hardens and is pulled off without the use of strips. Since my first visit, I have become a regular and really appreciate how easy and virtually painless their waxing process is. Another thing I really enjoy is how friendly and nice the staff is. They always make you feel so comfortable, and engage you in conversation during the wax, so you barely
even notice that you are getting waxed. “Our staff is really passionate about what they do; they really care about their clients,” says Ashley. “What really speaks volumes is when I am walking down the hallway and hear laughter coming out of the rooms. I love the fact that the staff can make the experience as comforting and fun as possible.” Whether you are a first time client or a regular, the staff at EWC Carrollwood always does a fantastic job of en-

Usually designated only for first-time clients, as a December promotion, European Wax Center Carrollwood is offering all clients a special package – Buy nine waxes and get three free! This can be used for any service, so the savings really are tremendous! EWC also offers other discounted packages throughout the year, prefect for frequent waxers who want to save a bit of money. And, for those who don’t want to pay for the package all up front, EWC gives you the option of breaking up the payments into four interest-free payments (package must

As a young adult, Steven studied art anatomy classes at SUNY Farmingdale, as well as art and design classes at the Art Institute. Come visit and experience for yourself why it is vital to value art the same way we live life – with passion!”
LITOS “Tattoos tell stories,” says Litos, “and my job as a fine art tattooist is to master the ability to stop time and capture it on your skin.” Litos has been in the Tattoo industry for 37 years. Originally from Rio de Janeiro Brazil, he has dedicated his life to creating art on paper, canvas and skin. Recognized in the industry with numerous national and international awards for his art, knowledge and experience, he still has the same passion as when he first started. “I am blessed and honored to be chosen to be the
artist responsible to immortalize my clients’ most special images,” says Litos. His work can be viewed at the website www.ForbiddenImages.com and on Instagram “LITOSART”. Litos runs the studio alongside with his wife Julie and three other talented artists: Steven Cornicelli, Jeremiah McCabe and Franklin Lewis.
STEVEN CORNICELLI After walking into Forbidden Images in early 2012, Steven was astounded by the artistic atmosphere of the shop. “Just walking into the shop inspires you,” says Steven. “I met with Litos and Julie and they offered me a chance of a lifetime – I took it!” Born in Maryland in 1970, Steven is a creative artist who has been drawing his entire life. In the early 1980s art became a way for Steven to express himself – it started with tracing super-

Jeremiah McCabe has been perfecting the technique of professional tattoo art since completing his apprenticeship in 2001. He learned to tattoo from Perry Stratton in Lapeer, Michigan and worked with him until moving to Florida in 2007. Jeremiah spent the next four years mastering the art of realism in his tattoo work. In 2011 Jeremiah felt as if there was more out there for him and decided to move again. With this move he was able to start focusing on the type of art that he loved the most – new school. To Jeremiah, newschool art really gives him the freedom to use his imagination and allows him the opportunity to push himself to become more creative. “The best thing about being a tattoo artist is the opportunity to travel all over the world,” says Jeremiah. “I really love what I do. I get to push myself each day to become better and use my imagination to help others express themselves through body art.” Jeremiah is willing to take on anything that has been placed in front of him; with this motivation he feels that each person that sits in front of him gives him the opportunity to become

a better artist. Jeremiah has been working at Forbidden Images alongside Litos, Julie, Frank, and Steve, since 2013, and continues to evolve his style even further. Along with making the move to Trinity, 2013 was the beginning of Jeremiah's tattoo travels. He's since been invited to work in top conventions in England, France, and Switzerland, and continues to plan more international explorations in the future. In 2014, Jeremiah was asked by Waterloo Tattoo Workstations to join the Waterloo Elite sponsor team. Along with Eternal Ink, Jeremiah is sponsored by some of the top products in the tattoo industry. In addition in 2014, Jeremiah won awards for Best Female Leg Sleeve and Best Overall Male at Ink Life Tour stops in Tampa and Fort Myers. Then in 2015, Jeremiah was invited to tattoo at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA. As part of that convention his nerd dream came true, and Jeremiah became an Officially licensed artist with Lucasfilm!
FRANKLIN LEWIS A tattoo artist at Forbidden Images since day one of his career Franklin was taught by the man himself, Litos, and strives to learn more daily. Franklin says, “My style of tattooing comes from a love for the old school ideas of tattooing – BOLD WILL HOLD! I have a strong passion for Japanese influenced art, but am open to new ideas and styles. I am always up for a challenge! Outside of tattooing, I love skateboarding and music – lots of music! I look forward to meeting you all, so don’t be a stranger!” Forbidden Images is a company that thrives off of positive energy and the staff connects with their clients on a whole different level, providing them with an embracing atmosphere and an exceptional experience. Forming long lasting relationships with all of their customers is something that Litos, Julie, Steven, Jeremiah and Franklin pride themselves on. Once they create a tattoo on someone, they like to keep the

communication flowing, facilitating open interaction with all of their customers to fully ensure complete satisfaction. “Our clients become good friends of ours,” says Litos. “When you come to us you will get one-onone attention. We ask a lot of questions so we can accurately interpret your feelings about the tattoo, as opposed to just creating an image. It’s not just the subject of the tattoo; it’s the meaning that creates the tattoo.” In addition to using the highest quality inks, all of the tattoo artist are privy to using the best quality products, as Forbidden Images remains at the forefront of leading developments and technology in regards to the tattoo industry. Litos is very adamant about continuing education and attends numerous conventions throughout the world in order to stay at the very top of his field. Litos and Julie are very active in the community and are huge supporters of local businesses. “We have a great relationship with businesses in the local community,” states Litos.
“Together we help each other grow as people.” At Forbidden Images Tattoo Art Studio, the artists are able to interpret an important part of you and through talent and creativity will give life to your deepest emotions and bring to reality a true work of art. Local Teachers Need Your Help! Bless Baby Bennett! Born on June 15, 2015, Bennett Rohrbacker is a gift to this world. Born with many special needs, however, at two weeks old, Bennett was diagnosed with 18q Deletion Syndrome, which is a genetic deletion on the 18th chromosome. Due to this deletion, he spent the first 8 weeks of his life with both of his legs in casts because of a foot malformation, and will be undergoing surgery to correct his right foot in a few months. In addition to this syndrome, Bennett has also been diagnosed with hypotonia, or low muscle tone. He takes several medications each day: one for hypothyroidism; one for pylori spasm (a condition that prevents his stomach from emptying properly); and a cream for his eczema. He also has an aberrant right subclavian artery, where his right subclavian artery passes by his esophagus. Bennett’s parents, local Tampa teachers Natalia and Craig

Rohrbacker, have done an amazing job of giving Bennett and his older, 2year old brother Rowan all the love and attention they need. They have shown unending patience with both an infant who cries frequently and an energetic two-year-old boy – not to mention all of the students they work with each day. They have an unshakable faith in God, which is how they get their strength each day. Most recently, Bennett was found to have moderate hearing loss in his right ear and profound hearing loss in his left ear. His hearing loss will require assistive hearing devices for both ears – which insurance does not cover. These are just some of the difficulties children with 18q Deletion Syndrome tend to face, along with a possibility of autism and other developmental delays. With each specialist visit comes fifty-dollar co-pay plus additional, medical costs. Due to these expensive medical
costs, Bennett’s godmother Julie is asking for your help. She says, “I would love to be able to take some of the worry off of their shoulders by providing them with money for Bennett’s hearing devices, as well as all of his other current and future medical costs. Natalia and Craig are truly a blessing to baby Bennett. I am hoping that others will want to give them

Definitely stop in if you are in the area.” Westchase Mellow Mushroom offers a full liquor bar and an extensive list of beers, a majority of which are locally brewed, including more than 115 microbrews and 30 beers on tap. “We try to have something different for everyone every time they come in and are constantly rotating beers on tap,” says Kitchen Manager Justin Newsom. So, if you are in the mood for a thirstquenching beer, look no further than Mellow Mushroom; with so many beers to choose from they have something for every palate and preference. you will really love. Shelly, a regular at Westchase Mellow Mushroom states, “We started coming here a couple of years ago. We usually built our own pizza but on a whim one night we tried the ‘Mighty Meaty’. Oh, Holy Heaven on a plate.
If you've never had it, you're seriously missing out. A pie that dare I say it, would turn a vegetarian into a carnivore with one bite. Even my 6 year old who has been strictly cheese and pepperoni for his entire pizza eating life has been converted. The decor is

fun and the food is amazing. They have a great beer selection too!” Westchase Mellow Mushroom has a fabulous selection of tantalizing menu items to choose from, including pizzas, salads, calzones, hoagies, pitas, oven-roasted wings and much more, all of which are prepared with great care, giving you selections that not only taste amazing, but look amazing as well. “We are well-known for our pizzas, and offer many different options, from our basic cheese pizza to our super-meat pizza which is loaded with toppings,” states Justin. “When it comes to our food, we do things differently. The food speaks for itself!” And, that is does, as from the first time my husband and I ate at Westchase Mellow Mushroom, we have been back many times since and have always had such a wonderful experience. “We are super vegan and vegetarian friendly,” says Justin. Mellow Mushroom offers many different alternatives for every diet and lifestyle, including the use of Daiya vegan cheese and their gluten-free pizza, which has gluten-free dough and other glutenfree ingredients, in addition to their many other vegetarian and vegan menu options. If you are like me and like to have a little snack before the main entrée, than I recommend you try one of their delicious appetizers, which include everything from stuffed Portobello mushrooms to spinach artichoke dip. One of my personal favorites is the Bruschetta, which consists of diced tomatoes and Feta Cheese tossed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil served on fresh toast points and finished off

Crunchy and sweet and loaded with fresh tomatoes, the Bruschetta is every bit as appetizing as it looks. The Kosmic Karma Pizza, which is a specialty at Westchase Mellow Mushroom, is a feast for both the eyes and the stomach, and the presentation alone is enough to make your mouth water. This is a must-have menu item! This red-sauce-based pizza, topped with mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, feta and Roma Tomatoes is tied in with a fancy pesto swirl and boasts a taste that is out of this world. The combination of ingredients was so delicious that I was almost at a loss for words. In fact, my husband was – “I don’t even have words for how good this pizza is. I can’t explain it, it’s just that good!” If you are feeling a little creative, you also have the option of creating your own pizza or salad, for a customized entrée that is as unique as you are. One thing is for sure - no matter
what you order, it’s guaranteed to be fresh and delicious!
Westchase Mellow Mushroom Now Offers Burgers – And They Are Really Good! New to the menu, Westchase Mellow Mushroom recently added burgers to their list of options. “We now offer burgers, and they are really good,” says Justin. They are more of a gastro-pub style burger, cooked on flat-top and made using 100% grass fed free range beef. We also offer a veggie burger, which is excellent!” On our last visit my husband and I sampled their “Carnie” Pub burger, and OMG was it amazing! Made with 100% choice, all natural, certified black Angus beef, finished with Swiss cheese, cartelized onions, garlic aioli, romaine lettuce, sliced tomato and pickle chips and served on a brioche bun, this burger was juicy and flavorful and the combination of the ingredients made for an incredible taste that

was out of this world. Looking for a vegetarian option? From what I hear their “Herb” Veggie Burger is just as delicious, made with their signature veggie patty made from quinoa, kale, brown rice and roasted mushrooms, and seasoned with roasted garlic and shallots. It is then topped with fresh avocado, cheddar cheese, garlic aioli, romaine lettuce, sliced tomato and onion and served on a grilled brioche bun. Described as earthy, delicious, and filling, this is a patty both your spirit and tummy will enjoy. Both burgers are served alongside their red potatoes, which are roasted with crispy cartelized onions, fresh rosemary, kosher salt, fresh garlic, and a hint of paprika. Believe me when I say they are every bit as yummy as they sound! Westchase Mellow Mushroom has daily specials, including Happy Hour, which is every day from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., and includes $2.00 off on all mixed drinks, wines and beer, as well
as $5 pitchers of beer and sangria and $2 off select appetizers (Bruschetta, hummus and pretzels). Mellow Mushroom also offers carry-out, and gift cards are available. Mellow Mushroom is the perfect place for a night out with friends or nice family meal. Whether you are enjoying a hot slice of pizza in their laidback outdoor seating area or sitting indoors in the spacious dining area, one thing is for sure – at Westchase Mellow Mushroom you are sure to have a good time. “Centra Care” Continued from page 1 the mission statement of Centra Care is about “extending the healing ministry of Christ.” When you enter the front waiting room, not only do you have a special area just for kids, but the coffee station isn’t the same burnt-tasting coffee you find in most urgent care facilities. Instead, patients are treated to a Keurig coffee maker with many choices. It’s the little things like that, that can make a tremendous difference and leave such a positive impression on patients. Besides three convenient locations in Carrollwood, Brandon, and South Tampa, with a new facility opening in Wesley Chapel next year, Centra Care takes patient waiting time very seriously. Patients even have the option to visit their website and make an online reservation to see the doctor. “This decreases wait time,” said Dr. Uzo. “We also have the ability to write prescriptions and dispense medication in-house. Everything is under one roof, which really adds to patient convenience. Convenience is key. I

think this is what differentiates us from the numerous urgent care centers that are opening up everywhere.” Centra Care also has xray machines on-site. Sharon Smythe, a new patient to Centra Care saw the outside banner and stopped in for an xray. She said, “I liked that they were affiliated with Florida Hospital and that they
have on-site xrays.” Being a part of Florida Hospital has distinct advantages. Dr. Uzo has immediate access to the patient’s electronic medical records, and should the care require emergency treatment, Florida Hospital, which is but 5 minutes away, has the same instant access to patient history at Centra Care.

“We have very compassionate, dedicated people that work here and every center has a physician, as opposed to a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. We extend extra care to our patients – the staff is trained to realize it’s all about the patients,” Dr. Uzo explained. “Our motto is extending the healing ministry of Christ and

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, with extensive Emergency Medicine experience, Dr. Uzo has a passion for her work and her patients. I want that to be obvious in everything the patient sees from the minute they walk through the door. Our goal is to make sure each and every patient is fully satisfied.” This philosophy may be is the reason why several patients have turned to the medical expertise and compassionate care of Dr. Uzo, a dedicated doctor who takes time to listen to her
patients and help them find the best solution to their ailments. A member of Carrollwood Area Business Association (CABA), Centra Care is active in the community with donating backpacks for schools, offering free school and sports physicals in August, complimentary flu vaccines in October and other activities and events that can be found online on

their website. Centra Care accepts most insurances and also takes self-pay patients. “I’m very passionate about patient care and providing the very best for each and every patient,” said Dr. Uzo. “The patient is coming here, putting their entire trust in me as a physician, and I really relish the fact that at the end of the day, they feel much better. I enjoy working here. It actually fulfills the passion I have for medicine. This is an organization that
I recommend to a lot of professionals, where they’ll feel appreciated and they can feel they make a difference. This is the place to be.” Centra Care is located at 4001 West Linebaugh Avenue in Tampa and is open 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday, and 8am to 5pm on the weekends. Let the Savings Begin! The Tampa Premium Outlets in Lutz is Now Open! By Julie Kanehl Tampa Premium Outlets is the long-awaited outlet mall that has Lutz and Wesley Chapel at the center of a lot of attention! Located at 2300 Grand Cypress Drive in Lutz, just off of S.R. 56 and west of I75, its location is convenient to all of Tampa Bay. Tampa Premium Outlets opened its doors on October 29th at 10 a.m. to excited crowds, impressive lines and of course, a lot of great deals. Owned by The Simon Property Group, which owns retail properties in 37 states and Puerto Rico, Tampa Premium Outlets has a lot of experience designing crowd-pleasing retail centers like this one. Their Grand Opening event included music, fireworks, and the opening of 103 stores, including popular brands like Coach, Nike Factory, Vera Bradley, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Michael Kors. Anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, Tampa Premium Outlets is a 441,000 sq. ft. retail center that has more than 20 shoe stores, alone. Add in some fun dining options like Johnny Rockets (which will actually be opening on November 12th), a playground area for the kiddos, and savings that you just won’t find at other malls, and it’s no surprise that people are flocking to the new shopping center in droves!
Grand Opening Success! The main courtyard at Tampa Premium Outlets was abuzz throughout the day with live entertainment, contests and giveaways, and even stilt walkers made the rounds as many guests lined up at their favorite stores,

eager to be one of the first ones in the door. Many of the stores offered gifts to the first 100 people inside, like Helzberg Diamonds, who offered a free pearl bracelet and extra savings to their first customers. There was a lot of excitement for kids of all ages at the Disney Outlet Store, as they gave away special edition Mickey ears to their first paying customers while supplies lasted. While many retailers used coupons, giveaways and outlet exclusives to garner excitement, some stores just needed to be there-like the Coach store, which had a line snaking half way down the corridor before the mall
even opened. Some of these stores are simply beautiful from a retail standpoint. Immaculately merchandised, every store displays its brand with pride: Stores like Swarovski simply sparkled, Kitchen Collection has you wanting to become a chef, and did I mention that there’s a Lindt Chocolate and an Auntie Anne’s? All the excitement and crowds aside, the employees of Tampa Premium Outlet and of the individual outlet stores were simply fantastic. Everyone was super-informative, helpful and while the mall was busy, it was

a pleasurable place to shop! I spoke to one local shopper who came to the Grand Opening with her mom and her two young children, she said, “I’ve gotten some great deals! I’m really happy we came. The lines to pay are long, but worth it.” She also said, “I really like that there are lots of areas to sit and rest between shopping!” Simon Properties did a great job of designing the shopping center to have plenty of seating, so that while there are more than a hundred great shops to see, it doesn’t have to feel like a marathon.

combined with the savings and discounts in the stores. Some examples include 10% off your entire purchase at Sketchers, $25 off your purchase of $100 or more at Vera Bradley and $15 off your purchase of $30 or more at Yankee Candle. This is just a fraction of the discounts! These savings last throughout the season, so get online, get your voucher and start racking up those savings! Tampa Premium Outlets is the perfect place to save money while shopping, and it’s also bringing a lot of jobs to the area as many of the retailers are still hiring! Whether you are in the market for a new pair of shoes, looking for a great place to spend the day with the family, or you are looking for a new job in retail, head on down to Tampa Premium Outlets!
Become a Tampa Premium Outlets VIP! The best news is that, while the opening weekend has come and gone, the savings will continue! It’s been printed that the savings at a Simon outlet mall like this one, can be up to
