The firm is committed to providing exemplary service while displaying the highest standards of ethics and professional knowledge. They are approved members of the National Ethics Association and the National Association of Tax Professionals. Edward G. Rizzotto, Owner and President, is an Insurance Agent and Financial Representative who holds both a state-regulated license to offer insurance products and a securities license to offer specific investment products. Meet the Rizzotto Team Ed Rizzotto, Owner/President, moved to Florida 45 years ago from New York, grew up in Pinellas County and has been a Trinity resident since 2000. A graduate of Clearwater Central Catholic High School, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from National-Louis University in Evanston, IL. Ed also served both active and reserve duty for 13 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He started his Insurance and Financial career over 20 years ago as an agent for Allstate Insurance. Then promoted to Agency Manager, he was responsible for overseeing 22 agencies in southwest Florida. In 1999, he joined a local retirement planning firm, where he helped hundreds of people with tax

and retirement planning for over six years. Ed Rizzotto enjoyed the opportunity to benefit the community, and was determined to create a complete local business where he could help clients (both pre-retirees and current retirees) save money on their taxes, better manage their portfolios, plan for the future and focus more on enjoying their retirement years – and The Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group was established in 2006. Lorrie Rizzotto joined the firm in 2009 as Director of Marketing. Prior to joining Ed in running their family business, Lorrie specialized in corporate incentive and meeting planning, and worked at Allstate’s Regional Florida office for 11 years before becoming an Independent Meeting Planner with HelmsBriscoe, where she achieved “President’s Club” status being Top 50 in the country. Married 28 years this November, Lorrie and Ed have two daughters attending the University of South Florida. Ed and Lorrie have a great team at Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group. Dori Greeson, Administrative Assistant and Office Manager, gives everyone a warm reception, oversees the office, and also is a licensed Life and Health Agent. Nayda Stern, IRS Enrolled Agent, has more than 22 years of income tax preparation experience and as an IRS Enrolled Agent, is able to represent Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group clients before the IRS. Alton Scott, Insurance Consultant, with more than 17 years of experience in the Banking, Insurance and Financial Services industry, has extensive knowledge in the areas of health insurance, Medicare supplements and Medicare. Scott holds a state-regulated Life and Health License and a Securities license to provide certain investment products. Griffith is the former long time chief financial officer of a publicly owned, 16-office savings bank. Former Marine Sigmund Mytyk, is an IRS Enrolled Agent, and has 20 years of experience as a tax preparer and 11 years as an IRS Enrolled Agent. Ed Rizzotto, owner, Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group ice experience, as well as experience in the banking business. Nic also has his 4-40 license, which allows him to represent Ed in offering Property and Casualty Insurance. Ed and Nic will work as a team to offer Auto and Homeowner's insurance to all clients. He has come on board this year to assist Ed and gain knowledge and experience to begin a career as a Financial Planner. Reducing Tax Liability in Retirement The first thing Ed and his team will want to look at is your past tax returns, explaining, “We’ve had people who had other advisors and financial planners who convinced them to make changes, not aware of the tax impacts. To me, the tax return is the most important document the client owns, that’s why it is the first thing we look at when the client meets us for their initial appointment. If there is an investment or change that could cause a taxable event, we know that up front.” Ed and his team are very tuned in to their clients’ needs and concerns. “Saving on taxes, reducing or eliminating taxation on social security and protecting the financial wellbeing of a spouse after another’s death – those are things that my clients are concerned about,” explains Ed. “Today, people also want alternatives to the low interest rate environment provided by CDs and money market accounts.” He adds, “If clients are already collecting social security when they come to us, they want to know how they can reduce or eliminate taxes

FEBRUARY 2017

on not only social security income, but their overall taxes as well. A major concern today and what I believe will be a concern for years to come for preretirees and current retirees is how to obtain ‘Guaranteed Income for Life’ from your retirement and non-retirement plans. Unfortunately many employer sponsored plans and individual IRAs do not offer this benefit when you retire. We will show you how to put some things in place now that will enable you to set up lifetime income down the road. This is income you will never outlive, similar to a pension. We spend many hours with our clients to put sound plans in place by sharing ‘real time’ tax, income and social security analysis through some of the most sophisticated software. We want our clients to leave our office with a better understanding on what their income needs will be in retirement, and how to control, reduce or possibly eliminate taxes.” Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group takes a team-oriented approach to tax, retirement and estate planning and Mr. Rizzotto welcomes discussions from clients’ estate planning attorneys. If you do not already have an attorney, Mr. Rizzotto often refers clients to estate planning attorneys Stephen E. Hitchcock and Martha V. Evans from Hitchcock Law Group, who frequently meet with clients in the office to review Wills and Trusts. “They can help you make sure your plan is up to date and our staff will make sure your accounts and beneficiary designations coordinate with your estate plan.” Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

While taxes are a large part of The Rizzotto Tax Advisory Group, the majority of their clients also utilize the firm’s other services including investments, retirement planning, long term care, annuities, life insurance, auto and homeowners insurance, wills and trusts and small business bookkeeping services. Ed says, “Clients like the opportunity we provide to get everything taken care of in one place.” A word of advice, “You’re never too young to start saving for retirement,” says Rizzotto. “We have found that many people we meet who are still working have changed jobs about every five to seven years, and many of those people left their retirement plans at their old employers (i.e. 401k, 403b, 457 and TSP plans, etc). Many of these plans can be rolled over to individual IRAs or Roth IRAs, thus giving the client more control and the ability to have

Highly recommend Gator Cleaning Solutions for your services!” Chomp that Dirt, Grime & Mold the Gator Cleaning Solutions Way! Located in the Trinity/Odessa area, Gator Cleaning Solutions is owned by local husband and wife team, Marcus and Erin Meyer. Their company has built a reputation for being one of Tampa Bay’s premier commercial and office space cleaning companies. Built on trust, word-ofmouth and high quality service, they recently acquired Trinity Carpet Care with the bonus of bringing on the company’s owner Tom Maloney, who has more than two decades of experience, thousands of loyal customers, and an impeccable reputation. Tom Maloney said, “Our business offers great pricing (we offer specials), and quality of service. Built on referrals

and repeat business, we take our time and do it right.” Carpeting remains the popular choice for bedrooms, cozy family rooms, and any part of the house where you want to kick off your shoes after a long day and rest. That said, carpets are a magnet for dirt, dust, and even mold. But when Gator Cleaning Solutions steam cleans your carpeting, not only will your carpets look and feel new again, you will increase the air quality in your home, and lengthen your carpet’s lifespan by approximately 50%. While some companies are in and out in twenty minutes, leaving your carpet wet for days, the Gator Cleaning Solutions team takes expert care of your flooring. Maloney said, “When we steam clean the carpet, the drying time is four to six hours, and when we are there we wear the plastic booties, we make sure the customer is happy, and we leave a free bottle of spotter the same stuff that we use on tough stains - for our customers to use.” He

They took their time and did an amazing job on our carpets. Our playroom carpet looks like new again! I highly recommend Gator Cleaning!” For homeowners with ceramic tile, the grout is where the germs and stains like to gather. Over time, tile can lose its luster, grout can become dark, and many people make plans to remove it and start fresh. However, removing and replacing ceramic tile and grout is incredibly inconvenient, messy and expensive, when most of the time, all that’s needed is a good, thorough cleaning from Gator Cleaning Solutions. Many homeowners are shocked to see the difference in their tile and grout. Often, the tile and grout look many shades lighter, and customers are relieved that they didn’t spend the thousands to replace.

New School for Exceptional Students Opens in Palm Harbor Esther’s School is a Christianbased school that recently opened in Palm Harbor for both mainstream students and special needs students. Founded in Pinellas County in 2005 by Esther and Chris Berry, when they struggled to find a good school for their own special needs son, Esther’s School now has twelve schools worldwide, with eight in Florida, and six campuses in Tampa Bay. Locally, the school has expanded to from Pinellas Park and Bradenton to New Port Richey, Hudson, Spring Hill, Kissimmee, and even abroad in Panama. Utilizing the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) program along with the state’s K-12 basic education curriculum, Esther’s School meets in East Lake at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, located at the intersection of East Lake Road and Village Center Drive, next to the Suncoast YMCA. There are many reasons that parents search for a new school, and many times it is that the specific needs of their child isn’t being met, particularly if they require special

education. If you are looking for a learning experience that will help your child to feel better about themselves and feel more successful, where the students are polite and responsive, and are allowed to work at their own pace, Esther’s School would love to share more information with you. Once students have taken the placement test to see where they are at academically, they are taught to take individual responsibility for their learning that includes setting their study goals each day, doing their work, and getting any needed help in an environment where the learning staff to student ratio is a lot smaller than a lot of other learning environments. The campus and classrooms are very neat and clean, and there are less distractions that a typical public school classroom. And, Esther’s School has its own van. The goal of Esther’s School is to help each child to grow up and lead a successful, independent life. Parents also appreciate that Esther’s School is Bible-based with a strong emphasis on

SAT AND ACT IMPROVEMENT: HIGHER SCORES IN SPRING Contributed by Dr. Wayne Adams NEXT EXAM DATES … SAT: March 11th, May 6th, and June 3rd. ACT: April 8th and June 10th. A happy little secret about the SAT and ACT Exams is that it is often easier to score higher in the mid-tolate spring because very few seniors are taking those last few exams and they are graded on a curve. In addition, if student(s) achieve the score(s) wanted, they do not have to worry about taking the exam(s) again in the fall. This is part of the reason that most testing prep books give ranges of around 50 points (SAT) or 2 points (ACT) in converting the raw scores on an exam into an estimated final score. Score improvement does not necessarily correlate to class level in school … Surprisingly, I have found over the years that there is little difference in the improved scores (number of points higher than baseline) a seventh grader can achieve on these exams and the improvement of a second semester senior. This is because the specifics tested are fairly basic and, if a student really wants to

24

improve, then can be reviewed and learned almost entirely from my course. As one example, a seventh grader improved his score over 350 points (math and writing/language core scores) when he had taken no algebra, geometry, or trig and qualified for the Duke TIP program. The only difference that I see between class levels is that a junior or a senior should have a broader academic foundation to give a better baseline score as a start. The real differentiating factor is how much a student wants to excel and translates this into how much they are willing to work inside and outside of our classes. Vocabulary is a key … Parents may also be a little stunned to learn that government research consistently shows that there is little difference between the vocabulary of an eighth grader and a senior in high school. I have found that the single best “predictor” of student scores in reading is how well they do on my vocabulary baseline evaluation and class segment that begins with my question, “Has anyone shown you how to have fun and really learn vocabulary?” To date, not one

student has answered, “Yes. But it can be done, as I proceed to show them in about twenty minutues a skill that will help them for lifetime. There are several common “reasons” for this, but I think they boil down to “too much texting”, “too little reading”, and not enough focus on longer term memory skills. This is a longer term skill that can be built, and I have multiple resources to help my students who are interrested in working in this area. Working around AP Exams in May is a unique factor in the spring. This is simply a matter of scheduling, and usually we do not have an SAT or ACT Prep Class the week before an AP Exam. This is also true during final exams for the semester. If you would like to talk with me further about your student and my classes, please contact me at 727-2530639 or at wwa0811@mykolab.com. Dr. Wayne Adams is one of the leading SAT and ACT tutors in the country. His students normally improve 200 – 350 points on the Writing, Reading, and Math, and 4 – 7 points on the ACT composite. They have been admitted to eight of the top

It’s About People, Not Lawn Care...Landmark Services Each new year is a time of reflection for most of us. I am certainly one of those people. I look back at last year and reflect. I try to learn from my experiences both good and bad. Last December, I found myself with little more time on my hands due to hip surgery that left me in a wheelchair for well over a month. I found out what it was like to be unable to walk during that period of time. That short experience made me see things I used to take for granted. Little things, like the ramps to enter stores and automatic doors. In a nut shell, it made me appreciate the challenges those who use wheelchairs face on a daily basis. I was amazed at how open they were when you are amongst them. What I found most impressive was their outrageously positive attitude toward life and thier willingness to help me. Now, fully recovered, I will never forget that experience and how it made me a better person. My time in that chair made me also think a bit out of the box about my Lawn Care

It all starts with an in-home consultation, where Glenn or one of the other experienced designers (Rebecca Peake, Wendy Hilton, Emily Miller or Rebecca McClelland), meet with you to discuss your desires for the space, to listen to your ideas, and to discuss the styles that you like most. “FHNP” Continued from page 1 drew Williams, who has 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Moving to the area from Napa Valley, CA, where she served as Regional Vice President of Behavioral Medicine and Population Health for the Northern California region of Adventist Health, Williams also oversaw population health services and initiative programs across the Northern California region of Adventist Health. She has held other positions within Adventist Health including Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Vice President of Operations and Planning, where she led the growth of Orthopedics, Cardiac Services and Cancer Center Services. With a passion for community health services, Williams is encouraged to see that the programs already put in place by Florida Hospital North Pinellas are so well attended, such as the popular “Girl Talk” event attended by approximately 1200 in 2016. Shortly after accepting her position here, Williams said she kept hearing about Girl Talk and that it was an event not to miss. “It was such a great event,

and the people of this community are so warm and welcoming.” Williams is excited about her future with Florida Hospital North Pinellas and says she will focus on developing an even stronger relationship between the hospital and its community, while continuing the hospital’s ongoing commitment to provide the best possible experience and medical care to patients. Williams’ warmth and enthusiasm for community enrichment are the real deal. “That’s who I am! You don’t often find a career that is such a perfect fit, and that’s what this is,” said Williams. “I’ve built destination health programs and there is so much good and so many great things to build on here at Florida Hospital North Pinellas.” Since opening its doors, Florida Hospital North Pinellas has focused on becoming the community’s first choice in times of need. Whether you need an ER, are seeking cancer treatment, or you are looking for guidance on ways to live healthier, the Florida Hospital North Pinellas is a whole new hospital in terms of funding, research, technology, staff, physicians and outreach. The 2016 Girl Talk event, which focuses on women’s health, was very well attended with more than 1200 guests on the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. Some of the community outreach programs that have been very popular include Girl Talk, the annual Women’s Health Event, and fun clinics that focus on men’s health such as Men’s Only Morning. Florida Hospital is the Exclusive Hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Official Health

and Wellness Partner of the Tampa Bay Lightning! Through their Healthy Happenings program, which provides educational seminars and screenings for free or for a discounted rate, Florida Hospital’s goal is to be a health partner to community members. They do this by partnering with local companies and businesses that are willing to share their time and their resources. Activities include informational seminars on a wide variety

of topics from insomnia to nutrition, blood pressure screenings, flu shots, support groups, childbirth classes, blood drives and even free personal training opportunities, just to name a few. Late 2016, Florida Hospital North Pinellas expanded its footprint in the community by opening its Palm Harbor Emergency Room, which offers 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency care. The full service ER offers the same level of critical care that is offered at the hospital and has 24 beds and overnight observation care with board certified emergency physicians onsite, imaging services including xray, ultrasound, CT scan, and laboratory and pharmacy services, as well as ambulance transport. This January, the hospital opened a sports medicine clinic in the Trinity area, and later this year there are plans to begin renovation on the Emergency Room at Florida Hospital North Pinellas – a 15 million dollar investment that will provide private patient rooms and the latest technology. Under the umbrella of Adventist Health System (AHS), Florida Hospital North Pinellas is part of the largest, not-for-profit, Protestant health care provider in the nation. It is an Ac-

credited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center.
