Are you at risk if something happened? Did your current insurance broker offer you an umbrella policy that provides a million dollars in additional liability coverage for just a few hundred more dollars a year? Did you know it gives you a very inexpensive policy with “a lawyer on retainer,” if you need one. Was it intertwined with the

same company who provides your regular car insurance to save you money, so you didn’t have to pay for duplicated insurance coverages multiple times? Start The New Year Off Strong Every new year symbolically represents an opportunity for a new beginning—a chance to make changes or improvements from the previous year. A new year feels fresh, invigorating and like we’re being given a new chance to right wrongs, course correct, be more thankful, grow, and keep fighting to fulfill our dreams and goals. Every new year is also filled with new added pressure, anxiety, and high expectations to improve from one year to the next. We’re creatures of habit, and even if we don’t want to recognize it, we follow this pattern of setting goals for each new year that starts. And that’s a good thing depending on how you approach it. I had big dreams for 2020; none of them came true. In January, all my dreams and plans, not just for the rest of the year but for the rest of my life, seemed to have gone down the drain. Add the global pandemic, serious financial issues, losing thirteen relatives and close friends, and getting ill again from my two auto-immune conditions. I felt broken. I found myself all alone at home, crying myself to sleep every night for months. I thought I would raise a big family in that “forever home,” and I let depression and anxiety get the best of me at times. I struggled to balance work with my personal life, and I still do at times, not going to lie. But I tried my very best to count my blessings and reminded myself daily of all the positive things in my life, and that made all the difference. I bet you all had goals and plans for 2020 too. We all did the best we could under the circumstances, and this was a tough year to give ourselves some grace around our goals and dreams. I have had to remind myself regularly that I am just a human being, experiencing really tough human experiences, which are outside of my control. We may have the same plans for 2021 as we had for 2020, and that’s not bad at all. Life rarely goes according to plan, and we cannot let ourselves get discouraged or feel hopeless because things didn’t go exactly as we were expecting them to. Life is beautiful, but life is hard. There are lots of twists and turns and unexpected events. We need to act like arrows in 2021. Even though we get pulled back, it’s only to gain

impulse and be released forward with more strength and better aim. Whenever you feel you’re stuck in a tough situation and moving backward, don’t sweat it; take advantage of the impulse that will propel you ahead. Maybe you gained some “covid weight” this year, you fell behind in paying off your credit card debt, or you didn’t make enough progress on some work projects you planned. You’re going to be okay. No matter where you are now, start there. While beginning a new year will not magically make things easier or better; there are a few exercises you can do to transition into the new year with a more positive mindset. Try this: Write down everything you want to release or let go about 2020. What went wrong, what hurts you, what disappointed you... don’t let anyone read your answers. Once you’ve completed the list, either crumble it up, cut it all up, or throw it away in a fire. This exercise aims to release these tragic events, situations, and challenges to make room for a more positive 2021 start. Then set a timer for 15 minutes and write down everything positive that happened in 2020. Don’t edit your thinking; brainstorm. A few of my own examples are; most of my family and friends are healthy and well. I kept a somewhat stable job. I was able to lose over twenty pounds. I was able to meet a lot of wonderful people. Now, answer the following questions as honestly as possible; What do I want to stop doing in 2021? What do I want to start doing in 2021? And last but not least, what would make 2021 a more successful year? These exercises are a great way to release any challenges and negative energy in your life and at work, and it also helps you regroup and rethink your goals for the new year. Remember, neither you nor I can control all the events in our lives. We can only control how we react and how we respond. No matter what 2021 brings, remember to release the negative and focus on the positive. Just never, ever lose faith or hope. Until next time,

“BTCG”- continued from page 1 devices act quirky or slow down; they can even fall victim to cyber criminals. When this occurs, we need someone we trust to step in and bail us out. “It’s stressful when our devices stop working. We need them for everything; from showing up to work-from-home, grocery shopping, doctor visits, and even our kids’ schooling,” said Bob Dalles, of Bob The Computer Guy & Associates, Inc. “We make our clients’ repair experience swift and painless. People share how they’ve been having problems with their computer; once we have an opportunity to analyze, diagnose, and resolve the issue, they tell us they never realized their computer could run so well.” Bob The Computer Guy &

Associates, Inc. is a computer IT and cyber security company that provides onsite computer repairs, cyber security counseling, and more! They service everyone; whether it’s your residence or business. Since COVID-19, Bob quickly responded. He changed company policy to better keep his clients and staff safer throughout the pandemic. Most appointments now take place via remote session or drop off service. Surprisingly, Bob found that over 90 percent of repair calls could be performed remotely. “A misconception folks have is they think we are a computer store,” said Bob. “We’re not a retail store. We are a service company. MY GOAL IS NOT to sell you merchandise. My professionally certified and experienced technicians and analysts actively work with you to develop a solution that is customized

to your technology needs and budget. Should you need to buy something, my staff can make recommendations and usually know where the best deals can be found.” “It’s not uncommon for new clients to tell us they did not know companies like ours existed,” said Bob. “And they’re so

glad they found us.” Bob was captivated by computer technology in the late 1970s. In 1995 he launched his own computer business. In 2008 he accepted a position as the instructor for Computer and Information Technology with a Florida technical college. Bob enjoys sharing his knowledge with

Bob and his cyber security team want to ensure that you do not fall prey to cyber criminals. Bob and his staff will help you implement the proper tools and will instruct you on “best practices” when navigating the internet and your digital world. Bob’s quest is to increase your online safety awareness to lessen your chance of becoming yet another cyber crime statistic. others who possess his passion and enthusiasm for technology. His love for technology inspired him to start writing his published column “Tech Talk,” where he shares decades of IT experience while also informing his readers how to keep their devices running well and safe. “Tech Talk is very popular. A lot of clients tell me that they have followed the column from its first publication,” said Nikki, Client Communications Director. “Some clients even clip the columns and stick them on their refrigerators or file cabinets.” This past year Bob’s Tech Talk has had a larger focus on cyber security. When the COVID-19 pandemic first started Bob noticed that he was getting more calls from people believing that

they might have been scammed; or wondering if they inadvertently done something that compromised the security of their device. “In early 2019 we launched a Cyber Security Division,” said Bob. “It has been a God-send for our clients’ peace of mind. We’re finding that more and more people are being proactive and taking responsibility to secure their digital world. I am extremely proud of the relief we’ve been able to provide to clients during these difficult times. We now make available a vital service for the individual and small business that has only been in the reach of government agencies and large corporations.” Cyber crimes are on the rise even more now that everyone has turned to their technology. Hands At Heart Yoga Provides Yoga and Fitness to our Community By Deborah Bostock-Kelley

When trauma occurs, you can face it in one of two ways: escape into dangerous behaviors to avoid dealing with what happened or bravely find a healthy way to move on. Amy Olshanski chose the latter. Her objective was to strengthen her mind and body through yoga. Only when she was deep into fitness and meditation, noticing the positive changes in her body, did she realize she was also healing herself from the inside out. This realization was a catalyst that planted a seed. That seed became Hands at Heart Yoga in August of 2013. “I believe that everyone is unique. The reasons we pursue yoga vary. From pain relief and improved flexibility to a sense of community and relaxation. The benefits are innumerable,” said Amy. For seven years, Hands at Heart Yoga has served the community providing corporate and private yoga instruction. In 2017, Amy took over an existing health and wellness center, but it never felt truly hers, despite the improvements she made. In October 2020, she followed her heart, closed the center, and set her sights on a different goal: giving her original company a location that students could enjoy. On January 1, 2021, Amy is opening the doors to her brand-new space for her first love, Hands at Heart Yoga. While she will continue to provide corporate and private yoga instruction, the location on the southeast corner of Racetrack and West Hillsborough Avenue enables her to add her own special touches and leave her indelible imprint on a place that finally feels like her own. From the calming hues of blues and seafoam green on the walls to the plush rugs on the floor, everything in the space has been custom-picked to invite healing, wellness, and a sense of serenity. “I wanted a nice, clean and simple design,” she said. “When I took over the other center, I inherited someone else’s design. I am most excited about getting back to a business that is my own.”

Amy has an opportunity for another health and wellness practitioner to occupy space in the studio. Amy has certifications in Ashtanga, Rocket, and Yin Yoga. Hands at Heart Yoga will offer a full yoga and fitness schedule. Additional offerings will include Reiki, Pranic Healing sessions, and Nutritional Coaching.

Because she is a firm believer in giving back to the community that has welcomed her, Amy is hosting a grand opening celebration on January 3, 2021. The celebration features 45-minute FREE snippets of various classes on the new schedule, live music by a duo from Chicago Thistle & Lace, and two Big Red Buses on-site for blood donations. Local businesses in the shopping center, including Stix and Edge City BBQ, will set up tables outside the studio to join the festivities. During the celebration, Amy is collecting food, toiletries, and new and gently used blankets for Project Pop Drop. On January 21, 2021, Hands at Heart Yoga’s 200-hour Teacher Training (YTT) will begin, providing a space for you to explore your passion for yoga. The training will feature a variety of practices, allowing you to discover which resonates with you. This Yoga Teacher Training will immerse you in the studies and practices of yoga. Become an instructor

yourself or simply deepen your knowledge and personal practice. Classes will be taught by Amy and the lead teacher, Shelly Happel, otherwise known as Shelly Yoga, LMT, RYT, MA. Shelly Yoga has over 21 years of experience teaching yoga throughout Tampa Bay and is also a licensed massage therapist. Her massage therapy skills will ensure that you have a solid foundation of anatomy that she explores through the asana practice. Using Pranayama or breathing practices, ancient healing techniques like Ayurveda and incorporating the underlying philosophy of Yoga (The 8 Limbs of Yoga, The Bhagavad Gita, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali), Shelly and Amy will provide you with a deep understanding of Yoga that will allow you to balance yourself along the way. “Yoga is my church and helped me heal from the inside out. That’s why I started Hands at Heart Yoga. This has so much meaning for me. My tagline has always been, be calm in

your heart. I’m super excited to create a space where people can come and take care of themselves and invite goodness into their lives. There’s been so much drama and fear installed in people, it’s like, come and take care of yourself. Kick-off the new year and do something wonderful for yourself.”

SAT AND ACT IMPROVEMENT: WITH A TOP TUTOR IN THE U.S. success as “When you finish the exam, walk out of the room, and look back on all we have done … he simply wants you to say to yourself, ‘I have done the very best with the time and priorities that I had.’”; taking a three-part “Mental Break” when concentration starts to fade; and seeing an exam as their opportunity to show just how well they can do - which greatly reduces mental pressure so students can stay in their “high performance zones”.

Spring Test Dates 2021: SAT on March 13, May 8, and June 5; and ACT on Feb 6, April 17, and June 12 Greater Tampa Bay enjoys a unique resource in helping students and families have their best possible futures, including students doing their best on the SAT and ACT Exams so important for College Entrance and Bright Futures Scholarships. The former Dean of a Graduate School of Business and Full Professor, Dr. Wayne Adams has created an exceptional and unique package that builds on his extensive experience including degrees and advanced studies at Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, Columbia International, and Luther Rice. A major reason for his outstanding results are the special techniques and learning skills developed over many

years. These include teaching students how to speed-read at 1,000+ words per minute; multiple memory aids to triple a student’s speed of learning and remembering vocabulary; reverse engineering that doubles “learning and retention speeds”; many additional math techniques such as “Quick Solve” to improve speed, reduce errors, and handle the “ultra-hard” questions; “bottom up” reading for key ideas and concepts; specialized reading strategies found in no reference books or other courses; and structured essay writing following his customized guideS. HIS STUDENTS NORMALLY IMPROVE 200-350 POINTS ON THE SAT TOTAL SUPERSCORE, AND 4 – 7 POINTS ON THE ACT COMPOSITE He believes that half of a student scoring well is mental. So much of his course includes mental techniques such as “Have fun taking the test,” defining

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT HIS CLASSES STUDENTS “This is not the average, boring class. I will learn.” “I really liked the involvement in the sessions, rather than just teaching from a book.” “Learning the structure of the Essay

was great.” “When I started, I took a 25 question vocabulary test right away and got 5 out of 25 correct. After his intensive vocab “memory hooks” approach, I retook the test and got 23 correct. Wow! ” “I have never had a teacher who has so many creative and effective ways to help me learn. And I like the style of the classes, which are like college seminars taught by a full professor. ” “The time goes by so fast.” “We work. We learn. It’s worth it.”

PARENTS “You helped our daughter qualify as a National Merit Finalist and helped our family in college planning. Now she is a freshman at a “Top 25” school with a summer studying at Cambridge U in England. Thank you so much.” “When our son took your class as a ninth grader, his baseline scores on the SAT were around 700. When he took the exam, he scored 1100 and qualified for the Duke TIP Program. This score was higher than the average score for a senior.

Now he is a National Merit Finalist.” “Our daughter had scored a 14 on the ACT and needed an 18 to satisfy FCAT and graduate with her class. Thanks to you, she scored a 20 and graduated!” “Our daughter had an excellent GPA and high standing in her IB Program, but her SAT scores were around 1150. After your class, she scored over 1400. Thank you.” “We are so excited because our daughter just learned she was accepted for Early Admission to Princeton, and will be going in the fall. Your major increases in her ACT and SAT scores were a major reason.” If You Would Like To Talk More About Your Student … Please contact Dr. Adams at 727-253-0639 or send him an email at wwa0811@mykolab.com. If you’ve tried the rest, now try the best. It doesn’t matter what your needs are, insurance, taxes, or mortgage services, with their years of experience, the folks at East Lake Insurance and Tax LLC and East Lake Mortgage have the solution for you at a cost you can actually afford! As Baskal Korkis enthu-

siastically noted in a recent interview, “we get discount rates on everything! When you come to us, you are not trying to spend your time finding a better deal, We are spending our time to try to find you a better deal! We can offer a catered experience,” he explained. Unlike insurance and mortgage companies who represent a single company, as an independent, they are free to get quotes from a variety of sources, ensuring you receive the best possible prices. What is even more important, they pass those savings directly to their clients! Wouldn’t you rather pay two points for your new mortgage and qualify even if your credit score is 620 instead of 720? East Lake Insurance and Tax

LLC and East Lake Mortgage can do those things for you and so much more! What about your taxes? Would you like to, as Baskal said, “increase your refund or decrease your liability?” Do you need someone who does more than just fill in the blanks on your tax forms, but can consult with you on new tax strategies to save you even more money, both this year and next? That is exactly what Baskal Korkis, his wife Besne Ceylan, and his sister, offer at their family owned and operated company. East Lake Insurance and Tax LLC works with both business and private individuals to meet their individual financial needs. In response to a question about tax audits, Baskal shared his

experience, noting that many taxpayers receive audit letters for forgetting to disclose their access to 1095A health insurance plans–“Obama Care,” during the year. He said that these letters are what we call soft audits, noting it would be “extremely rare” for a tax auditor to come to your front door. If you forgot, Baskal said, they help you file the required documents. “We look at every single aspect of your finances,” Baskal said, and have our company CPA’s available for questions. He added, “we can help anyone in any scenario.” Referring to refinancing mortgages with East Lake Mortgage, he offered good news to these potential clients. “There are no

out-of-pocket closing costs. All costs can be rolled into the loan!”

Like every other business, COVID-19 impacted theirs as well, but they

turned it to their advantage by calling existing clients to help them with their financial issues. With access to ten automobile insurance providers and twenty home ones, they continued to help their clients save money on their insurance needs. Their strategy is “focusing on their clients” and their needs. Baskal sounded a warning note to potential homeowners wishing to refinance. With the forbearances, or the act of refraining from taking a legal action, ending early next year, May 2021, homeowner foreclosures will rise as the government ends the temporary safeguards. That will reinstate debts. Don’t wait if refinancing to save you money is part of your financial planning. Call
