Tech Talk with Bob: Enjoy A Safer Summer

You rely on your computer every day to perform multiple tasks; some of which involve transmitting your confidential information over the internet. Online banking, staying in touch with your child’s school, working remotely, paying bills, reviewing the results of your most recent blood test, monitoring and managing your investment accounts, preparing, and filing your taxes, even the simple act of ordering a pizza online using your credit card. Each of these basic tasks, that most of us do every day, is a potential security exploit. I am willing to bet that you are the type of person who is smart enough to wear a seatbelt while driving. That’s because you know that even though you are a safe and considerate driver, you are still at the mercy of the less considerate drivers or those who are not as vigilant as you. You know you need to protect yourself while driving and you know that you need to protect yourself while online, navigating your digital world. Now I know you might be thinking, “Bob, I’m pretty sure my computer is safe. We haven’t had any problems. I’ve been using such and such antimalware software from the store where I bought the computer,” or “the tech-savvy neighbor kid put some ‘FREE’ protection on my computer for

8 JULY 2022

me.” If you are doing any financial or medical transactions, you don’t you want to be “pretty sure” your computer is safe --- you want to be “certain” it is safe! Some of my new clients who manage online banking and investment accounts that have balances from thousands to millions of dollars were “pretty sure” their computers were safe too. Every one of these folks was shocked when my cybersecurity team discovered their systems still had security exploits. OK, time for some tough love. If you do anything online of a financial or medical nature, you need to stop procrastinating and be proactive about securing your system. I know that performing deep scans on your computer system is a time-consuming process. Many people do not have the knowledge, resources, and most of all the patience to properly execute a thorough scan. The completion time of these scans have taken a few hours to a few days thanks to the many variables involved: the storage capacity of the hard drive, the number of files on the hard drive, the number of threats discovered on the hard drive, just to name a few. In addition to the automated scans we perform, my team also manually inspects critical areas of your system for threats that are not discovered by typical antimalware software. A lot of the more popularly known, and usually all the FREE, antimalware products usually complete their scans in 30 minutes or less. This can be very appealing. No one wants to wait for a long scan. But let’s be realistic, you’re not ordering a pizza, you’re protecting the device that holds the keys to your digital world. Short, quick scans usually do not always find every threat. My cybersecurity team performs a thorough security scan of your computer “so you know for certain” whether your system is clean or not. Since these security scans have taken from hours to days to complete, to be fair, I only charge one

hour of labor to perform these scans. Whether your scan takes a few hours or all day, your only obligation is our onehour bench fee. Once my cybersecurity team completes your scan, I will personally review the results with you. If your system requires any additional remediation, I will discuss your no obligation options and costs. I want you to have all the facts, regarding your computer’s security health, so you can make a well-informed decision based on what solution best serves you. Starting now, and through the end of August, I will perform a security scan of your computer on my bench for only $99. Yes, for less than the cost of our one-hour service appointment, my team will assess the security of your computer! So why not take advantage of my Safer Summer promotion and enjoy a safer summer online with my $99 security scan. Never forget. Cybercriminals will exploit the easy victims and unprotected systems. Whether you are a business or non-profit who keeps records about clients, customers, prospects, employees, vendors, sales, budgets, inventories… you get the idea. It is your responsibility to protect your personal network, your computer’s operation, and your data. Even a home user who may keep records about club members, kids’ sports leagues, volunteer work, or just filing your income taxes on your home computer is a target. Are you certain your computer is safe? You don’t have to do this alone my friend. My team and I are here to keep your computer safer and keep it running. We have the best solutions already in place and we’re only a phone call away. Call us anytime at 727-534-4000. We’ve been helping folks restore their peace of mind, and sanity, with their technology for decades. We Keep You Safer In Your Digital World!

Women’s Creative Voices are Amplified During Voices of Women Theatre Festival at Powerstories Nine women playwrights bring eight diverse subjects to the second annual festival. In a society dominated by male creation, where statistics show men write 80% of produced plays, Fran Powers and Powerstories Theatre’s goal is to amplify women’s voices and showcase works written by women. Powerstories celebrates nine novice to accomplished female playwrights in the return of the hybrid online and live Voices of Women Theatre Festival in July. The festival was first conceived to connect with its community during the continued pandemic in 2021. It was so wellreceived globally that it became part of the theatre’s regular season in 2022. In the last quarter of 2021, the festival committee read through hundreds of plays submitted from throughout the U.S. and Canada to determine the second annual festival lineup. After a stringent evaluation process, several plays were chosen, and the committee members championed the productions they felt best met the theatre’s mission of opening hearts and minds. In the end, eight diverse plays from nine playwrights of all ages and experience levels were selected.

16 JULY 2022

The 2022 Voices of Women Theatre Festival features two plays live in the theatre and live-streamed worldwide and six 48-hour view-on-demand productions. Though the Voices of Women Theatre Festival officially opens on Tuesday, July 19, and runs through Sunday, July 24, patrons can begin watching the first view-on-demand production at 9 pm on Sunday. Each pre-recorded play can be enjoyed for 48 hours before a live Zoom interview with the playwright, cast, and crew at 9 pm EST each night. “The Voices of Women Theatre Festival is filled with exhilarating plays that give examples of clear vision and

transformation,” said Fran. “In these times when our rights are being attacked, these stories need to be heard. It’s an honor to showcase these talented women who are driven to bring awareness and joy through their words.” One of the unique parts of the festival is the real-time interaction with the playwrights from

across the United States. On the website, guests can submit questions to the playwrights, which will be answered live during the playwright and cast interview each evening on Zoom. Patrons can share their thoughts on the viewon-demand production they watched and get feedback from the playwright, cast, and crew about their experi-

Featured plays are: Tuesday, July 19 The Gentry of Essex by Blaire Baron (California) View on Demand beginning July 17 at 9 pm EST Wednesday, July 20 Catherine by Addison Vaughn (Florida) View on Demand beginning July 18 at 9 pm EST Thursday, July 21 Remembering Morgan by Annie Brown (Oklahoma) AND Not Worthy Enough to Wipe Your Ass by Susan Jackson and Diana Brown (California) View on Demand beginning July 19 at 9 pm EST Friday, July 22 Legal Gringa by Angela Page (California) Live in Theatre /Live-Streamed at 8 pm EST Saturday, July 23 my body. my voice by Deborah Bostock-Kelley (Florida) Live in Theatre / LiveStreamed at 3 pm EST AND A Good American by Denise David Williams (Cal-

ifornia) View on Demand beginning Thursday, July 21 at 9 pm EST Sunday, July 24 Reclaiming Grounds by Beth Mahmoud-Howell (Washington) View on Demand beginning Friday, July 22 at 9 pm EST Along with Powers, the participating playwrights unanimously feel that it is essential for women to raise their voices and tell their stories this year more than any other time in history. Beth Mahmoud-Howell, Susan Jackson, Denise Davis Williams, and Addison Vaughn are among the seven playwrights submitting pre-recorded productions. “In light of the current attack on women’s lives and bodies, a festival amplifying women’s voices is not only a step towards gender equity in the arts but necessary to make sure we are heard loud and clear,” said Mahmoud-Howell. “It is up to us women to continue to amplify the voices of womyn. It just

seems more important than ever that women stay involved in their community, the community of the United States, and the community of the world. That can only be done if our voices are heard, and we push our voices out there,” added Jackson. “The divine feminine wants to be heard right now, wanting to balance out all the male, heavy rational energy. The nurturing, the intuitive, and the wisdom of the feminine need a voice right now, and we’re the ones that have that voice. I think it is essential for the world that women have a voice right now,” said David Williams. Vaughn said, “In today’s society where we are starting to see where the marginalized groups are, we are starting to commodify them, so you see these big blockbusters that use ‘girl boss’ power in an almost toxic way. A festival like this that tells feminine stories that reach a wide audience

is vital in portraying women in a true light.” Playwrights Page and Bostock-Kelley will be telling their stories live from the Powerstories stage. “I think (this festival) is critical. We have a unique perspective, and there have been so many centuries where we’ve been silenced or, at least, not paid attention to. The time has been overdue to hear women’s voices of all ages and backgrounds,” said playwright Page. Bostock-Kelley added, “After everything our mothers and grandmothers fought for, it is unbelievable to think that the attack on women is happening in 2022. Our voice is our power. While SCOTUS is trying to send us back to the dark ages, a festival like this shines a light on women and helps magnify our voices.” The second annual Voices of Women is a hybrid online and in-theatre festival at Powerstories Theatre, 2105 West Kennedy Boulevard. The festival opens on July 19 and runs through July 24. Patrons can view pre-recorded productions starting at 9 pm EST on July 17. Tickets are $15 and are available at powerstories.com/2022voices-of-women-theatrefestival.

“Fine Art Santa” story continued from page 1

Christmas in July, Fine Art Santa photography July 3031, 2022 The Tampa Bay area just gained a great new and exciting art/experience option! With over 35 years as a commissioned, internationally renowned, and award-winning artist, Larry Hersberger’s art is sought after worldwide. Larry has become one of the bestknown and most influential Christmas/Santa artists in the world today. He has been privately commissioned to write and create numerous children’s storybooks. With the extraordinary help and inspiration of his wife Ela Hersberger, together they have created Masterpiece Christmas. The success of his style has led Larry to also become a teacher and mentor to photographers and artists worldwide. After a decades of creating art for clients in more than 50 countries Larry and Ela, together with their three beautiful daughters, decided to settle in Odessa, FL. Masterpiece Christmas just announced their Christmas in July, Fine Art Santa Photography sessions in Odessa, happening July 30 and 31. Masterpiece Christmas sessions are about capturing non-posed emotion and the magic of children with Santa. The result is breathtaking

fine art and storybooks set to poetry. This is not Santa pics and not meant as a Christmas experience prior to Christmas. The concept of these extraordinary fine art Santa photography sessions is to capture the “wonder” of your children in iconic Santa moments. The performance/ experience is designed and choreographed to allow the Hersbergers’ and their team to capture a sequence of images to produce stunning artwork and your very own night before Christmas storybook. Hours of artwork go into the photos from each session. A photo session with Masterpiece Christmas can take an hour or more. These sessions are, simply put, remarkable, unique, and very memorable. There is a live photo set, a professional Santa, a master photographer, a photography team, a custom wardrobe, and a magical experience that your child will never forget. Each photo is meticulously pre-planned, and the experience is like a play/performance. (Your child will never know they are actually in a play.) They will love learning the secrets of the North Pole and the true meaning of Christmas from Santa Claus.

Serving Community Masterpiece Christmas chooses to bring the true meaning of Christmas into art, poetic storybooks,

and storytelling. Larry and Ela understand that these books and pieces of artwork will be read and seen by many generations. As heirlooms, they will be handed down over time. The storybooks feature poetry that is whimsical yet full of life lessons and the true meaning of Christmas. The creation of this artwork gives Larry and Ela a platform to share joy, love, and kindness with children and viewers as they read and see the artwork and books. It is their way of giving back to impact their community in a positive and joyous way. The resulting fine art and storybooks are exquisite heirlooms.

Christmas in July photography event. Limited sessions July 30-31, Odessa FL. Masterpiece Christmas sessions are available on specific dates only and are a very limited number. Why does Santa come south to Tampa in July? It is essential to Masterpiece Christmas that each of their clients receive their fine art pieces and storybooks before the holiday/Christmas season begins. They want clients to enjoy their artwork throughout the holiday season. Children never need a reason or rationalization to visit Santa. Kids want to see him in person, have milk and

“Albert Ortho” story continued from page 1 Dr. Albert fell in love with dentistry at an early age. His exceptional experience as a teenage braces patient led him to his lifelong career. In practice since 2003, he uses his 19 years of experience to care for his orthodontic patients conveniently where they live, work and go to school. He makes them feel comfortable, knowing they are in the most capable, experienced hands possible for braces, expanders, and Invisalign. In addition to the amazing smile transformations in his office daily, Dr. Albert also has various promotions, donations, and giveaways planned for his patients and community throughout the year. From annually supporting teachers’ classrooms and donating to local schools to patient appreciation giveaways with prizes including electronics, gift cards, and recently an Oculus Quest 2 system, there is always something going on at Albert Family Orthodontics. This summer, their annual ‘Summer of Music and Smiles’ promotion will allow lucky winners to see Luke Bryan or The Weeknd live in a concert in Tampa. When it comes to orthodontics, teens like the fun-colored bands that can accompany the classic silver and clear braces, and adults tend to gravitate to Invisalign because of the convenience and minimal intrusiveness in their

20 JULY 2022

lifestyle. Dr. Albert notes that some young people do choose Invisalign for their comfort and versatility for their active lifestyles. While some do-it-yourself products are available online, Dr. Albert has seen a significant increase in demand for consumers wanting professionally controlled and monitored treatment through Invisalign in his practice. “I think most people know in their heart of hearts that the best treatment they can give themselves involves personally being seen by a doctor with experience and being monitored and helped throughout their treatment,” he said. “Invisalign has become very popular and is what most of our adult patients are treated with nowadays, with more and more teens deciding to do it as well over braces. For those unfamiliar, Invisalign is a series of clear trays that the patient wears for one week at a time, and we typically give them 12-16 trays each time they come in. They then progress through the trays in between the visits. We continually check them and ensure that they fit properly. Minimal movements with each aligner, but over the treatment time, it moves the teeth to where we want.” Adding the Propel appliance to Invisalign treatment can reduce the length of treatment time by 30%. Propel applies a gentle vibration 5 minutes daily that helps increase the bone and tooth remodeling

process, which speeds the rate at which teeth can be safely moved. Albert Family Orthodontics treats children and adults, and new patient evaluations are always free of charge. Based on the recommendation by the American Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Albert suggests initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. Orthodontic treatment may not always be necessary at this early age but helps determine the best time to begin treatment and is complimentary. The first consultation visit includes a thorough exam, a complimentary panoramic x-ray, and a discussion of potential treatment options and costs. Along with a low initial down payment, Albert Family Orthodontics offers no-interest, in-house financing, Care Credit, and accepts most insurance that includes orthodontics. Dr. Albert is proud to offer the most advanced

technology at Albert Family Orthodontics to help his patients see a replica of their teeth in a three-dimensional view. Digital scanning replaces antiquated tray impressions or molds of teeth. Instead of the traditional physical dental impressions, which can be a potential contaminant and uncomfortable for patients, the iTero intraoral digital scanner scans a patient’s mouth to create a 3D digital model for braces, Invisalign, expanders, and diagnostic study models. Not only does the 3-D scan show the current structure of the teeth, but it can also produce a simulated outcome of what their teeth will look like after the completion of the expected treatment plan. Dr. Albert has treated many orthodontic cases that initially present similar, but he knows that no two patients’ treatment is precisely the same. Treatment time varies per each patient’s specific orthodontic problem, but generally, it ranges from 6

And after almost twenty years in practice, I still feel honored
