New Year, Same You, and that’s OK… So what will it be this year? get killer abs, again; promise yourself to find a higher paying job, again, find “the one,” before December comes again, perhaps? We are not in this world just to be skinny and make money. Remember what Albert Einstein said? “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” The truth is most of us do this every year, myself included. We set up resolutions, most of them too general and unrealistic. We hurry to make these long lists that at times can make us feel like our lives, as they are right now, are not good enough. We look forward to the new year as the beginning of a brand new life that will magically erase all the mistakes we made the year before. We become anxious and get really stressed trying to meet these goals in as little time as possible as if who we are today is someone so awful and undeserving that needs to be eradicated come January. Oftentimes we change our routines, put our bodies and minds through hell, and end up something we’re not... like, vegan. Which is fine, but is it really… YOU? I am not trying to discourage anyone from getting in shape, moving up the corporate ladder, eating better or doing something positive for their lives. What I am saying is that this cycle of unrealistic resolutions only perpetuates feelings of failure and inadequacy, which is certainly not very conducive to achiev-

ing any goal. I am proposing something new. This year, let’s throw away the rulebook out the window! And if you have to set a goal, set a goal to set no goals. Make a resolution to stop making (unrealistic) resolutions. If you don’t want to find yourself in the same position you find yourself every year, thinking the same thoughts, having the same feelings, do this instead: Rather than rushing forward in a state of panic to completely change everything you don’t like about yourself, simply forget all that and enter the New Year with zero pressure and just a positive mindset. Enter 2020 with a mentality of being a more open and present person. Resolve to accept yourself. Resolve to fall in love with yourself. Resolve to appreciate your surroundings. Spend more time doing what gives you joy, because life goes by incredibly fast and time is promised to nobody. So spend it wisely, spend it surrounded by people and things that bring you nothing but happiness. Remember this…You’re beautiful, you’re worthy, you’re perfect just the way God made you. Out of the positive state of being and accepting will arise all the doing, and achievements you never planned for but will be amazed to see unfold. Until next time,

Jazzercise Lutz: Dynamic vs. Static Stretching

As 2020 starts, most people think about fitness or weight loss resolutions. You may be ready to recommit to whatever your were doing before you were so busy preparing for the holidays or starting a new exercise program. Have you heard how important it is to warm up your muscles to prevent injuries? Most people have heard it is important to stretch but are not sure how or why to do it. First, there are two different types of stretching and each one is appropriate for different times during your workout. They are dynamic and static stretching. With dynamic stretching, we want to keep moving throughout the stretching. We are not going to hold one position for too long. We can think of dynamic stretching as your warm up. You are warming up the body, getting the muscles, ligaments and soft tissues ready to work out and mobilizing your joints. We are preparing the body for wide range of motion. Dynamic stretching promotes fluid movement during athletic performance, decreases soreness and minimizes injury. This type of stretching improves speed, agility and acceleration. Examples of dynamic stretching include walking while pulling your knees up high, slowly swing your leg forward and back or slow lunges while twisting the upper body. Your goal is to do some of the movements slowly that you will do faster or with bursts of speed during your workout.

6 JANUARY 2020

Static stretching is more to cool down where you will move the muscle to the end of its range of motion and hold it without pain for 20 to 45 seconds. You want to stretch the muscle causing a little bit of stress which is great to do at the end of a workout when your body is already warm. If you do static stretching at the beginning of a workout, you limit the muscles effectiveness to do gross amounts

of force when you need it to at the peak of your workout. Static stretching may limit your body’s ability to react quickly when you need to jump, for short sprints and for quick reaction time. If you use static stretching at the start of your workout, you may negatively impact your performance. Using static stretching as a maintenance stretching program will also help reduce your risk of injury. Types of static stretching would be to extend your leg, flex your foot and hold to stretch your hamstrings. You could bring your foot up behind you and hold it with your hand to stretch the quadriceps. For the upper body, extend your arm across your body and place your other hand on the outside of your arm to hold the stretch. Our muscles need to be both strong and flexible so you need both types of stretching so we can optimize our body for whatever type of workout you are doing. Know when and how to stretch and make it a part of your daily routine. Happy Exercising! Lutz Jazzercise offers dynamic and static stretching in every class. New students can get started for free. ¡CUATRO Restaurant & Bar

TPC Tampa Bay’s masterful design provides a spectacular public course for golfers but also holds a hidden gem of a restaurant that is also open to the public and even provides catered events. Overlooking the lush landscape and tranquil lagoons of the 18th hole at TPC Tampa Bay, ¡CUATRO Restaurant & Bar is designed to bring people together to enjoy the fresh flavors and delicious awardwinning food curated by one of the most passionate and downto-earth individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of interviewing; Chef Greg Gonzales. Chef Greg proudly accepted his role as ¡CUATRO’s Executive Chef right after Valentine’s Day this year, and his main focus, under the direct supervision of general manager Jeff Hartman, is to take this family-friendly local gem back to its four original ethnic roots; American, Cajun, Italian and Mexican. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, and with over 20 years of experience in fine dining establishments such as Longhorn and Grill Smith, Chef Greg is more than “seasoned,” in the culinary arts. He also knows how to run a busy restaurant without sacrificing quality or taste efficiently. Having received his culinary training at Copeland’s of New Orleans, Chef Greg became passionate about bold flavors, and seasoning every dish with the perfect amount of complimenting spices. As a self-proclaimed “foodie,” I was thoroughly impressed by the overall presentation and deliciousness of every dish Chef Greg brought out for me to sample during my first ever visit at ¡CUATRO. I am still daydreaming about their juicy steak, their meat packed Cuban Sandwich with enormous chunks of pulled pork and huge pickles

10 JANUARY 2020

in every bite, the delicious chicken wings, the crispy on the outside yet flaky on the inside grouper nuggets, and those perfectly seasoned french fries. Everything was spectacular, but those were without a doubt, the best french fries I have ever had in my entire life! I’ll be back soon with my whole family because to me, there’s nothing better than enjoying a fantastic meal with the ones you love. So if you haven’t visited in a while, or you’re ready to try something new, trust me and pay a visit to ¡CUATRO, you will not be disappointed.

New Executive Chef = New Delicious Dishes A restaurant menu is kind of like your wardrobe: Sure, you’ve got some old classics you’ll never get rid of, but every once in a while you need to give it a serious overhaul, and that is what ¡CUATRO is currently doing. “We are revamping our entire menu and offering dishes inspired by the four original ethnic styles of cooking ¡CUATRO was meant to showcase,” shared Chef Greg, who is eager about adding his personal touches to some of the classics. “We continue to make as many products in house as we possibly can. We’re pretty much a scratch kitchen,” Chef Greg added. Chef Greg has a soft spot for Cajun food, which is a blessing for all of us who enjoy flavorful meals. The new menu launched on April 7th, and featured entrees like a juicy “Bayou Chicken” and a “Creole Gumbo,” inspired by NOLA’s traditional flavors. Other new specialties include a tasty Mexican pasta, a mouthwatering Crawfish Fettuccine, a pressed, roasted pork Cuban Sandwich, and the popular yet revamped Grouper sandwich. If that wasn’t enough, get ready to transport yourself to “Cafe Du Monde,” after one bite of Chef Greg’s NOLA inspired Beignets! An Italian Tiramisu, a Mexican Tres Leches and an American Peach Cobbler will also make

their debut on the dessert list at ¡CUATRO. ¡CUATRO will continue to offer delicious daily specials, crafted and suggested by Chef Greg and the entire staff. “I am fortunate to be working next to such talented individuals,” said Chef Greg. “I encourage and welcome any ideas they may have. Not long ago they surprised me by offering a delicious new monthly special, which was a hit amongst our guests. The staff at ¡CUATRO cares about the food they send out, and people have started to notice the consistency and hard work that goes into making and serving each dish.” But no matter what the special is, you can be sure of one thing – the food will be fresh and delicious. Recent customer Joan l. says, “An overlooked gem of a restaurant. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. I had one of the evening’s specials, and it was delicious and original. Saved enough room for a wonderful homemade peach cobbler. Service was excellent!” Restaurant Manager, Horace Flournoy is working with Chef Greg on updating the banquet menu for large events held at TPC Tampa Bay and for catering. “We can comfortably host up to 150 people by offering indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the gorgeous golf course,” said Horace. “We include all the

chairs, tables, linens, and China once an event is booked, which other banquet places charge extra for.” ¡CUATRO’s banquet menu has always been phenomenal, but now with Chef Greg’s assistance, they will be taking it to the next level. “Our banquet menu aims to please, and we offer something for everyone,” said Horace, who works one-on-one with all the customers to customize the menu selection to their liking. “When someone calls about a banquet or private event, we will work with them every step of the way, until we achieve a menu that they will love and that suits their budget and taste.” Members and the public can reserve the full-service banquet room for golf-related events, silent/live auctions, corporate lunches, private dinners, engagement parties, small weddings, baby showers, bar mitzvahs – you name it! ****Membership Sales Associate Kortney Huntzinger, Horace, and Chef Greg are at your service and will make your event, an unforgettable one.**** Recent client Stacey K. says, “I recently worked with the team to celebrate my sister’s baby shower at ¡CUATRO. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was crafted specifically for the guest of honor and impeccable. All of our guests were blown away by

Project No Labels Debuts “Dear Self You Are Worth It,” Affordable Mental Healthcare Initiative in January 2020 If you scroll through Facebook posts, depression, lack of self-worth, and mental health issues are a bridge linking all ages and gender identities, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community. You will also notice that people want to get help, but find the insurance copays or for those without coverage, the outright payment for therapy is cost-prohibitive. Many try to deal with their pain without support, sometimes selfmedicating with drugs, alcohol, food, and sex, which could result in dire consequences. Project No Labels, the 501c3 nonprofit that unites the Tampa Bay LGBTQ+ community with its allies through volunteerism and activism, paid close attention to these posts and memes. In 2020, it will make mental health care obtainable for members of the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg communities. “For the past four years, Project No Labels has been involved in different spheres of social issues. People have always felt comfortable to talk to us about the pressing issues around the community. One issue that really stuck out to us is Mental Health Care. It seems like people needed hope, inspiration, and better coping mechanisms,” explained founder/CEO, Claire

14 JANUARY 2020

Elisan. “For too long, mental health therapy has been out of reach or out of mind for many who truly needed it. This program is an affordable opportunity for personal growth.” From January 6 to April 28, 2020, Project No Labels will assist in opening the gates to affordable therapy sessions to the local communities. The resulting pilot program “Dear Self You Are Worth It” is in collaboration with Dr. Katie Schubert, a licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Board Certified Sex Therapist in the State of Florida, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Steph Ostrow, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Student Intern, will provide the therapy, supervised by the doctor. The program was created to bridge the existing gap between the need for mental health care and the financial burden that limits its access. “It is Project No Labels’ effort to make mental health care attainable. Each session will cost $30 per hour; however, the cost to the community is only $20 per hour,” said Claire. “Our organization is picking up the additional $10. We are also looking to do a voucher program for anyone who needs

the service but can’t afford the $20. To some, it’s either gas in the tank or food on the family’s table versus $20 for their mental health. Unfortunately, they’re forced to sacrifice their psychological wellbeing. “We are currently looking for Sponsorship Partners for this program for both the cost to Project No Labels as well as the voucher program to cover the entire cost for anyone who can’t afford it but is in need.” The affordable spots are limited, with acceptance on a first-come, first-serve basis. Dr. Schubert said, “This

program is incredibly important. Mental health care is expensive, and a lot of people don’t have health insurance policies to cover sessions. Our community is suffering from high rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. This is a great opportunity to see an expert and find happiness and peace in your life.” For more information on this event, please visit projectnolables.org, or contact directly at (813) 438-3537 or via email at projectnolabels@gmail. com.

The Medi-Weightloss® Program is a 3 step lifestyle change. Phase one begins with the initial consultation. The 60-minute initial consultation includes a complete physical, including an EKG and comprehensive blood panel. Your weight and body fat analysis will be recorded, and you will discuss exercise and nutrition as well as the expectations for both going forward. Supplements combined with B1 and B6 injections may be prescribed, which have been proven to curb cravings, giving a huge advantage over someone who is going at weight-loss alone. All diets do not work equally for everyone, that’s why MediWeightloss® Clinic is dedicated to helping you identify a program that is tailored to your body’s unique needs. Dr. Weitzman will design a specific plan for you based on your medical health, lifestyle and mobility. Diets are also designed for Vegetarians and patients with other specific needs. Dr. Weitzman will periodically adjust your program until you reach your goal weight. Short Term Maintenance begins when patients have achieved their GOAL weight. The goal is to gradually increase your calories and rebalance your diet in two easy steps, allowing your body to adapt to increased levels of energy and carbohydrates. We will give you recipes that will reintroduce all food groups back into your diet.

Once you have maintained your goal weight, you will start the Wellness phase. “Computer Guy”

story continued from page 1. the day. “It is always stressful when our devices stop working because we rely on them so much. They always seem to let us down when we need them the most.” said Bob Dalles, President of Bob The Computer Guy & Associates, Inc. “That’s why we like to make our customers’ repair process as swift and effortless as possible. People tell me how they’ve been having problems with their computer; and then once we have an opportunity to analyze, diagnose, and resolve the issue, they tell us they never realized their computer could run so well.” Bob The Computer Guy & Associates, Inc. is a mobile computer and IT company that provides repairs and setups for everyone from individuals in their homes to small businesses and larger multi-office operations. simplifying the process for them. “A misconception folks have about us is they think we are a retail computer store where they carry in their computer for repairs,” said Dalles. “We’re not a retail store. We are a service company. We’re not looking to sell you merchandise from our inventory. My professionally certified and experienced technicians and analysts are here to help you determine the proper solution to your technology needs. And if you find there is something you do need to buy, we can make recommendations and then assist you with your purchase online or locally. We do all this in the comfort of your home or office!” “There’s no need for our customers to disconnect their entire system, haul it into a repair shop and wait for days or weeks to get it back. It is actually better for us to come to your location to save you the effort but it also lets us

make sure that everything is working cohesively,” Dalles said. “It is more than the safe operation of just your computer or printer, it is how they communicate with each other, and any other devices you have attached to your network and internet connection. By doing this in your home or business, we can be sure that everything is working the way it should be so you can go back to business as usual.” “It’s not uncommon for us to hear new customers tell us that they did not even know companies like ours existed,” said Dalles, “and that they’re so glad they found us.” Dalles has been intrigued with computer technology since the late 1970s. In 1995 he launched his own computer business. In 2008 he became the instructor of Computer and Information Technology for a Florida technical college. He also writes a technology column entitled Tech Talk, where he shares his over 40 years of IT experience while also informing his readers on information that

they need to keep their devices running well and safe. “Tech Talk is very popular. A lot of customers tell me that they have followed the column from its first publication,” said Nikki, Customer Communications Director. “Some of our customers even clip the columns and put them on their refrigerator.” Dalles’s technicians will often come back to the office with stories of seeing those clippings on the fridge or near the computer. Each of Dalles’s Associate-Technicians are handpicked by Dalles, not only for their knowledge, but also for their passion for the job and for helping customers with their technology. Among those passionate and knowledgeable technicians is Associate-Technician, Christian. Christian has been with Bob The Computer Guy & Associates, Inc. for five years and is a favorite among customers. “It is always a rewarding experience when I go out on a service call. I am usually welcomed with a concerned smile. When I

make sure that no one falls prey to cyber criminals by helping individuals implement the proper tools and educate them on how to avoid becoming a victim. “In early 2019 we launched a Cyber Security Division,” said Dalles. “It has been a God-send for some of our customers. I am extremely proud of what our Cyber Security Team has accomplished. We’ve been able to provide and make affordable a service that has only been in the financial reach of governments and multi-million dollar corpora-
