Budget Blinds - Continued Excellence, from Inspiration to Installation! By Marcy Sanford After 20 years in the corporate world and numerous relocations, Jim and Elaine Trotter found themselves faced with another move. Elaine said, “We realized we did not want to leave the Tampa area and owning a small business had always been a dream of ours. After a lot of research, we thought Budget Blinds would be a great fit for our goals and lifestyle, and we were right. We have been able to invest in the local community by growing a team of dedicated employees who feel the way we do - giving great service, at a great value, while offering continued support, and giving back to the community which supports us.” Thanks to their hard work, dedication to customer service, and superior Budget Blinds interior design products, the Trotters have seen their list of satisfied customers grow, and have also earned a few awards along the way, including the recent distinction of having two of their three franchises, out of 1000 Budget Blinds franchises nationwide, in the top 20. Budget Blinds has earned a reputation for staying up-to-date on the most current trends and styles, and for being an innovator in home See “Budget Blinds” on page 42

Happy Thanksgiving – Enjoy Your Time Spent With Loved Ones This year has slipped by so fast and it’s hard to believe that it is already time for the Holidays. We want to let our readers and our advertisers know that we really appreciate you. We are thankful for you. We are just as excited about sharing community events and giving you an inside look at the businesses who serve you, as we were when the first Tampa BayNews & Lifestyles to serve the Trinity area rolled off the press nearly 12 years ago. With growth comes change, and we have definitely experienced both, especially in the past couple of years. A recent name change, to the new Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles, for all seven of publications is representative of this publication’s growth, now in all three counties of the Tampa Bay Area, with coverage from South Tampa out to Land O’ Lakes, to East Lake in North Pinellas and Trinity in West Pasco. It is an honor and privilege to help put this publication together, and personally, I am thankful to know and love the people I work for, the Selby and O’Reilly families, because they are

honest, hardworking, and like the many small businesses that we serve, they put in long hours and plenty of sacrifice for the good of the company. Our graphic artists are amazing and I am thankful that they can work their magic! Dave once made a Styrofoam food container disappear like magic from a photo sent to us of a high-end kitchen. Our art guys also are tech-smart and Tony has helped me get back online more times than I should admit – thanks Tony! Our writers, some of whom have been with us since the first publication printed, keep the pulse of this publication strong and for them, I am eternally thankful for I couldn’t do my job without them. Our writers have been writing for our advertisers since the first run of this paper – Julie Kanehl, Dara Tucker, my daughter Katie Thomas, and Marcy Sanford. I hope they know how appreciated they are for their timeliness, work ethic and their true desire to help local businesses succeed. The remarkable thing, even though they all have other jobs and very busy lives, when they sit

Dara Tucker recently let us know that due to her busy work schedule as a teacher and her girls’ busy afterschool schedules, that after eight years she wouldn’t be writing for us. But I am so thankful for those eight years that we had her and I hope Dara will send me some community interest stories! Keep sending us your community events and uplifting news. We are thankful to hear from you, residents of the Trinity Area! Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles. Heat Up the Kitchen with the Hottest New Trends! Personal Touch Kitchens’ design team is savvy when it comes to color, texture and design trends, and their favorite thing is to provide customers with a kitchen remodel that truly fits their lifestyle needs and personal style. A great way to integrate personal style with an updated kitchen is by using the hottest design trends. “Painted cabinets continue to be timeless with white and antique white being the number one and two choices throughout the country,” says Cheryl. “Our cabinet manufacturers have introduced new shades of white that are softer than stark white, and these have become extremely popular. Grey continues to be popular and has really become the new tan.” Another trend in kitchens is having an island in a different style, either with different cabinetry or countertop. “Accents in rustic woods for islands and open shelves are right on trend and warm up the room,” says Cheryl. “Shaker style cabinets continue to be strong; however, the simple traditional raised panel door styles have come back.” Countertops are the crowning touch on your cabinets and offer yet another way to make your kitchen unique. A popular choice for countertops is quartz due to its simplicity, easy maintenance and non-porous surface that does not require sealing, but there are many easy-care, durable choices at Personal Touch Kitchens. “Brands such as Cambria have developed beautiful granite-looking materials that offer movement, texture

and depth to a kitchen,” says Cheryl. “Another brand, Caesarstone, excels in a marble look with a quartz material.” The marble look is extremely popular. Recently, some of the more exotic granite choices have made a comeback and coordinate well with rustic accents and the farmhouse kitchen look. One theme that never goes out of style: Classic, clean and simple leads the way in choice for remodels. Cheryl says, “Seventy percent of people who walk in want something simple. They want their kitchens to look pretty, be functional and have a look that will stand the test of time in design.” From the smallest of starter homes to full-out custom kitchens in multi-million dollar homes, Cheryl and Kim are a dream design team. “We can do as little or as much as needed,” says Cheryl. “We have many skilled contractors we work with or we can recommend one and let the client oversee the project. We work with our clients to ensure they get the remodel that they want at a budget they can afford. Each remodeling project is different and so we make sure our clients get the individual, personal attention they deserve so they are happy when their remodel is complete.” Personal Touch Kitchens is located in the Palm Harbor Commons near Nebraska Avenue at 33478 US Highway 19 N. The showroom is open Mon. – Fri., 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat., or by appointment. You also can schedule a free in-home design consultation. SAT AND ACT IMPROVEMENT: EXAM COMPARISONS By Dr. Wayne Adams NEXT EXAM DATES...SAT: Dec 3rd and Jan 21st, ACT: Dec 10th and Feb 11th Wondering if the SAT or the ACT is the better exam to take? Here’s a brief comparison by test section. SAT (Writing and Language) vs ACT (English). These test sections are about the same because “grammar is grammar” and the logical sequencing of sentences, words, and phrases functions on a standard set of analytical rules. SAT (Essay) vs ACT (Essay). These essays are very different, with the SAT being more difficult. The SAT is a combination of an AP Language and Composition Rhetorical and Analytical essay requiring 55 minutes. To score well, a student needs to know and to use key elements such as theme, thesis, syntax, diction, tone, mood, similie, metaphor, alliteration, and persuasive elements. I have had excellent results using a comprehensive critical thinking, analysis, chronological writing pattern, and writing template using question sequences to help my students organize and then express their thoughts well. The ACT is a “compare and contrast”

12

essay requiring 35 minutes with a brief statement of a situation, three differning perspectives, and more stylized response. I have had great success with a “fill in the blank” approach using a standard structure and supporting quotations. SAT (Reading) and ACT (Reading). These sections are very different, with the SAT being more difficult. The SAT has different types of reading passages with 9 – 11 questions per passage. Half of the questions are either “terrible two’s” with an answer and then separate selection of the best support for that first answer, and “vocabulary in context”. The remaining questions involve different types of analysis, critical thinking, and often making inferences by “reading between the lines”. The ACT has four sub-sections that require “speed reading the passage first” and then answering a wide range of questions. On the ACT, the answers are there and the key is to find them. SAT (Math) and ACT (Math). Both exams test arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. The major difference is that the average length of an SAT question is 6 – 7 lines with some questions over 15 lines, while the

For Ad Info 727-943-0551 • info@NNLFlorida.com

average length of an ACT question is 3 lines. So the SAT takes additional skills in reading, sorting out the important facts, translating into mathematical problem, and solving … which takes more time. My students tell me the ACT Math is definitely easier. ACT (Science Reasoning). Only on the ACT exam, this section has nothing to do with knowing Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or other sciences. It is essentially another Reading section where the student finds answers from charts and graphs, experiments, and differing opinions of scientists about a topic. Speed reading does not help much, as it does in the Reading section, but “bottom up” reading for key concepts and ideas is essential. Net Result: The Shift to ACT Continues. The two key reasons continue to be that the ACT Exam has changed little (except for the essay), is totally acceptable as a standardized exam for college admissions officers, and if a student takes the ACT then that student does not have to take any SAT Subject Tests (as most top colleges require for full consideration). And More Students are taking my combination ACT and SAT Prep Class

that saves 15 class hours from preparing separately for each exam. If you would like to talk with my further about your student and my classes, please contact me at 727-2530639 or at wwa0811@mykolab.com. Dr. Wayne Adams is one of the top SAT and ACT Tutors in the country and a former Dean of a Graduate School of Business and Full Professor. His students have been admitted to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, Duke, U Chicago, U Penn, Johns Hopkins, Georgia Tech, UCLA, USC, Boston College, Northeastern, UF, FSU, USF, UCF, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Leo’s, New College of Florida, U Miami, FIU, and many other colleges and universities; often with academic, athletic, or music scholarships. Normally, student scores increase 200 to 350 points on the SAT (Writing, Reading, Math, and Essay), and 4 – 8 points on the ACT. He has degrees and advanced studies from Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, Columbia International, and Luther Rice. He is at wwa0811@mykolab.com or at 727253-0639.

By Kim Thomas The Man Cave Warehouse, located at 8811 North Gunn Highway in Odessa, is the perfect place to shop for “Man Cave” furnishings, but this gal thinks the sign also should read “She Shed” because there is something for everyone here! The store may be housed inside a huge “manly” warehouse but inside it is gorgeous with hundreds of chandeliers and lighting fixtures (both indoor and outdoor) on display and wall-to-wall fun throughout the 5,000-sq.-ft. showroom, with everything you need to complete a game room that will bring years of entertainment! If you are considering adding a game room to your home or updating from the ping-pong table, then get over to The Man Cave Warehouse. Family owned and operated by the Klopf family since they opened the store in 1999, The Man Cave Warehouse delivers and sets up all over the state of Florida. “My son’s store may well be the largest in the Southeast United States,” said Al Klopf, Sr., who is semi-retired but still works part-time at The Man Cave

Al Klopf Jr. and his wife Jeroline own and oversee operations at the Odessa location, and their sons Carson, Cody and Canyon have grown up learning the business and helping customers. Candy is an employee whose hard work and knowledge are valued by the family and their customers. Al and Jeroline’s oldest son Carson is now the owner/operator of The Man Cave Warehouse in Orlando, which features a 3,000-sq.-ft. showroom. If you are looking for quality, white glove delivery and competitive prices, The Man Cave Warehouse is the place to shop. “We sell quality products at a great price and provide the best, personalized service in the industry,” says Al Jr. “We want to earn your business.” Canyon is the youngest of the Klopf clan, but this kid knows his family’s business! Canyon’s enthusiasm was genuine as he pointed out the cool hidden features that many of the billiards tables and game room furnishings have – like the benches for the dining/billiards tables

that provide storage for cues and racks and the billiards tables with hidden storage underneath for everything needed for the game, keeping your living space uncluttered. First walking in to The Man Cave Warehouse, my eye was drawn to a pool table that was rustic, yet modern. Looking around, I realized there were three or four tables in that style alone. If your taste leans more classic or ornate, The Man Cave Warehouse has what you are looking for. Brendan delivered and installed the table, including new felt, and he is clearly an expert at what he does. The table is perfect. The store has a great selection of “man cave”

supplies... pretty much everything you need for billiards, darts, arcade games, furniture, lights, and lots of other great stuff. Prices seem competitive as well. Basically, good quality for a good price, and great service.” Steven Fisher, another customers that gives The Man Cave Warehouse a five star review, states, “First rate all the way! We furnished an entire billiard room and could not be happier. Everything looks awesome. The staff was very patient and helped us select all our custom pieces. Delivery was white glove all the way. We also came back and got a video game.” Game Rooms Create Fun Times and Great Memories The Klopf family knows that playing pool, throwing darts,

gathering at the card table is more than just fun and games; it’s a way to build personal skill, challenge your buddies, and most importantly, to bond with family and friends. Some of my favorite memories of visiting my grandparents were playing pool on Granddaddy Pat’s pool table. That pool table moved with him from Dover (near Plant City) to Apalachicola, and was a staple throughout my childhood into my adult years. During the happiest of times and the saddest, inevitably a game of pool would pull everyone together, either because we had our turn at playing or picked a side to root for. If you can create a game room for your family, it will pay you back in spades with good times! The Man Cave Warehouse is located at 8811 N. Gunn Hwy. in Odessa and is open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Monday – Thursday, and from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Choose 1st Financial LLC for Insurance, Annuities & Wealth Management By Julie Kanehl When it comes down to choosing a partner to help you decipher insurance, annuities and wealth management, you want someone with experience, someone with integrity, and someone with a wealth of knowledge. The trouble is, in many cases, the representatives make a commission, and only sell the financial products that help them the most. At 1st Financial LLC, however, you won’t be dealing with a representative who makes a commission. Instead, you’ll be working directly with the owner, a Financial Advisor with more than two decades of experience who never works on a commission, but instead on a flat fee. This eliminates bias and allows clients a greater sense of security. 1st Financial LLC is located at 2144 Seven Springs Boulevard in New Port Richey and is owned by Leo C. Wagner, an esteemed professional who offers the best of both worlds in both insurance and wealth management. A former employee of Wachovia and Edward Jones, Wagner is a registered Investment Advisor with the state of Florida, but also can do business in all 50 states. In fact, he was Series 7 Licensed over twenty years ago. On the insurance side of the business, he has been in-

22

sured in the state of Florida for more than ten years, and has never had a complaint. More than that, he’s passionate about what he does, and enjoys building longstanding relationships with his clients. Last but not least, Wagner takes pride in the fact that he’s a one-man business, which gives him the freedom to help his clients shop for the best products and the options that suit them best. More than that, he’s not asked to “push” a particular product or to conform to the needs of anyone but his clients. If you’re looking for someone that you can trust with your financial planning or insurance needs, 1st Financial LLC is the local, global and personal choice of many. 1st Financial LLC for Insurance Options 1st Financial LLC specializes in the insurance and annuities side of the business, including life insurance, health insurance, variable annuities, fixed annuities, and Wagner’s annuity of choice: Index annuities. Annuities are popular because they are a contractual financial product designed to accept and grow funds that can be paid out at a later date. The financial details are decided by the type of annuity,

Leo C. Wagner, Financial Advisor and there are three types: Fixed, variable, and index annuities. Wagner says, “Fixed annuities are like CDs, which are currently at three percent over five years. Wagner likes the Guggenheim Tryvista Index Annuity because

Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

it offers market like returns through the MSDSI index, a Morgan Stanley index. This kind of annuity gives you the ability to not lose money in the years when the market is down, which means it’s an extremely safe investment.” He adds, “I don’t like variable annuities. There are a lot of fees and they don’t exempt you from losing money. I believe index annuities are much better, in my opinion, and I consider myself to be an expert in variable annuities.” Offering free consultations, Wagner is happy to sit down and discuss your insurance options. If you own annuities, he can analyze them, and discuss your options. As a free agent, Wagner is able to shop the entire country on your behalf, and to take the time to truly study the plethora of options. Wealth Management You Can Trust 1st Financial LLC is a full-service investment firm that offers stocks, bonds, IRAs, 401K Rollovers, individual accounts, mutual funds and more. Dedicated to the customers’ needs, Wagner’s non-commissioned approach affords a

low-risk, low-stress investment experience. Wagner says, “I offer everything a Series 7 Broker can do, but I charge a flat fee instead of a commission. This ensures that my recommendations aren’t based on wanting to earn a higher commission. I’m completely client-focused.” Building Relationships That Pay Off At the end of the day, when you choose 1st Financial LLC, you are investing with a company that has a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to serve you and your needs. Leo Wagner has more than two decades of experience under his belt, and he has a passion for understanding the market’s trends, the latest financial and insurance products, and the foresight to help guide you. 1st Financial LLC is located at 2144 Seven Springs Blvd, Suite #406, New Port Richey. The Best of the East Vs. The Best of the West! Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Hosts 2nd Annual Pasco County All-Star Football Game Tony Dungy / Bobby Bowden / Tom Landry / Sue Semrau – these are but a few of the 80 or so legendary coaches in America who are a part of the “Hall of Champions” at FCA headquarters in Kansas City. These are coaches who have impacted the lives of athletes in the areas of character, integrity, leadership, and even for eternity, for most of their careers. And these are coaches who’ve been a part of FCA for over 30 years. On December 8th FCA will host the 2nd Annual Pasco County AllStar Football Game. The best of the East vs. the best of the West. Last year 2,000 fans packed Sunlake Stadium for the inaugural all-star game and this year promises to be even bigger! Every public High School in the County and two private schools will

28

participate. Head coaches from each school held a “draft day” where they selected the best senior players from each school. The countywide battle for bragging rights will be held again at Sunlake Stadium, Thursday, December 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at any participating school, or online at pascofootball.eventbrite.com, or at ticket gate the day of game. Fans are strongly encouraged to get tickets prior to game to avoid lines at gate on game day. FCA is a non-profit sports-based ministry that seeks to impact the lives of coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, for Jesus Christ. There are FCA chapters in all 50 states in the U.S., and in 54 countries around the world. Locally, there are chapters in 101 “huddles” in the Tampa Bay

area, which include Middle Schools, High Schools and Colleges. The ministry can be best described with the Four C’s: Coaches, Campus, Camps and Community. Coaches – Coaches are FCA’s initial impact each year. Young people may not respect authority like they used to, but they will still respect “coach.” Billy Graham said, “a coach will impact more people in one

NOVEMBER 2016

year than most people do in a lifetime.” So we try to influence the influencers. The second “C” is for Campus. With a presence on most High Schools and many Middle Schools in Tampa Bay, we reach thousands of students on our campuses. The school meetings are student initiated and student led. This gives the students who choose to be a part of our

Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

club an opportunity to grow and stretch in areas such as leadership, public speaking, preparation and other life skills. Students who come through the FCA ministry as leaders can put this body of work on their resume as they begin searching for colleges or careers. It’s important to know that while FCA has “athletes” in our name, that students don’t have to be athletes or a part of a sports team to be a part of our club. We seek to reach all students at all schools. Next is “Camps” – FCA has hundreds of camps around the coun-

Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

try each year. These camps range from “all student” camps, leadership camps, and virtually the different sports-specific camps. Locally we offer a full week of camp at Southeastern University in Lakeland. Students from all across southwest Florida meet at SEU for a full week of perspiration, inspiration and transformation. They come back fired up and ready to make a difference in their schools and with their friends. The final “C” is Community. FCA partners with businesses, churches, parents and volunteers to organize several events each year that

impact the community. Some of the events we’ll do are golf tournaments, cornhole tournaments, sporting clay shoots, and all-star football games, where a much broader audience is reached. Areas of need within FCA are for volunteers, speakers, monthly financial partners and board members. If you have any interest in serving in any of these areas, we would greatly appreciate an opportunity to talk with you. Area Director Bob Durham can be reached at (813) 784-4410 or bdurham@fca.org

Though competition is certainly part of the focus at Dance Extreme Academy, and the level of instruction from the teachers on staff is exceptional, there are many students who dance just because they love to dance and perform. In December, the Dance Extreme Academy students will have a chance to perform The Nutcracker for the first time since the studio opened nearly seven years ago. Parents, students, teachers, and the owner of Dance Extreme Academy, Darlene Jones, and Dance Program Director Julie Walek, are all very excited about the upcoming performance of The Nutcracker, which is being co-produced with The Center for the Arts at River Ridge High School in New Port Richey. Dance Extreme Academy’s Ballet Director Laren Cavicchio is excited to be co-directing The Nutcracker, which will be held at the River Ridge High School auditorium on Saturday, December 17th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Decem-

ber 18th at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the event, or you can check Dance Extreme Academy’s Facebook page or website (danceextremeacademy.com) or the CFA website (centerfortheartsriverridge.com) to find out when tickets will be available for advance purchase. Quality Dance Education Dance Extreme Academy is focused on providing a warm, family friendly atmosphere where students receive a quality dance education, and where, if desired, they can foster their talents to take them into professional dance careers and many students have been able to do that. DEA’s mission states: “Our mission is to provide a community-oriented dance program that attracts students of all levels and ages and challenges their abilities in a safe and effective manner to build stronger, well-rounded dancers. We are committed to fostering a safe and fun environment where each student

Tampa Bay News & Lifestyles

is treated like an individual while learning the importance of working in a group setting. We also offer a strong curriculum for the serious dancer who is looking to compete locally or nationally, or make dance their career.” Students really enjoy learning from their dance teachers, and both Darlene and Julie feel that it is very important that the students have consistency with the same teacher every week. By working with the same students, and students learning from the same teachers, relationships are forged, but not only that, Julie says, “Being consistently with the kids enables the teachers to learn each students’ strengths and weaknesses, and the teachers are better able to help them. Our weekly classes focus on technique and on what the students need to improve on. Our main focus is giving our students the best dance education possible.” Dance Extreme Academy has twelve dance educators on staff. Julie says, “We have an amazing, highly ed-

ucated staff that is committed to our students.” Assistant Dance Program Director Martha Estrada says, “We have had students transfer from other schools whose parents mention that they are impressed with the versatility of the curriculum here. Our students have a good understanding of the fundamentals of dance.” Martha adds that there are plenty of opportunities for students to get out of their comfort zones and improve on retaining choreography through the master classes that Dance Extreme Academy offers. In the past, they have had master classes taught by the professional dancers from the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance? This month, the studio is holding a Master Dance Class focused on Hip Hop with Rikkidawn Cooper, who won 1st place at the World of Dance and who appeared on America’s Got Talent, and LarsEric Rouville Brown II, who has appeared on So You Think You Can Dance?, MTV and VH1. Upcoming in March, there will be a Contemporary Workshop and Dance Extreme

Academy is currently working on bringing in some high-profile dancers to instruct. Other master classes planned for the 2017 year will bring in talented Broadway show dancers from Cabaret and Wicked. Dance Extreme Academy’s technique-based curriculum allows their students to reach their highest potential by guiding them and exposing them to dance opportunities both inside and outside the studio. Many of Dance Extreme Academy’s students excel to professional levels. Emma Meyers, 16, loves her tap dance instructor at Dance Extreme Academy, Cathy Scavelli, who has helped Emma to fine tune her natural talent to become the only dancer from Florida to make the “Olympics of Tap Dancing,” the World Tap Dance Competitions held this December in Germany. (Read Emma’s story on page 40). Former students are excelling in higher education and dance from the education they received at Dance Extreme Academy: Avery Rizzotto made the USF Dance Team;

Mallory Reiger was accepted into and graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy; Megan Fuhrman made it onto the Rukus Crew in Orlando and teaches open classes at the University of Central Florida, where she attends college; Catalina Estrada now works seasonally as a dancer at Busch Gardens, and she was on the Final Boss Crew and comanages the female Hip Hop crew Edge, from Tampa; Patrick Brown performs for Universal Studios, dances seasonally at Busch Gardens, and is well recognized in the Tampa Bay Hip Hop community. Over the past six and a half years, Dance Extreme Academy’s students have been accepted and some have earned scholarships to prestigious schools such as the Joffrey Ballet School Jazz & Contemporary Intensive, the Alvin Ailey Intensive in New York City, and the American Ballet Theater Intensive. It’s not too late to register for classes, Dance Extreme still has openings for both boys and girls, so come on by, meet Darlene, Julie, Martha and the rest of the staff at Dance Extreme Academy. Owners Mike and Debbie Natoli truly enjoy providing great food and service to their neighbors. Mike takes his cooking skills seriously, bringing original flavor and flair to his restaurant. He cooks what he loves and has visited the award-winning cheesesteak eateries in Philly many times to compare his to theirs. Mike and Debbie provide the real deal, a bona fide cheesesteak just like the Philly masters serve it. The perfect Philly cheesesteak starts with a soft, delicious roll, and as any cheesesteak-lover knows, the roll is as important as the filling. The original Philly cheesesteak, as served in Philly, is either with or without onions. I like mine with mushrooms, peppers and onions. Mike says this is THE FLORIDA, so I guess it makes sense that it’s this Florida girl’s favorite! Add marinara sauce to The Florida and it’s THE SLOPPY. Other choices include: CHICKEN CHEESESTEAK, PIZZA CHEESESTEAK, and PEPPERONI PIZZA CHEESESTEAK. You can ask

Mike Natoli makes a bonafide cheesesteak to rival Philly masters for extra cheese or sauce, extra meat, or to add bacon, salami or pepperoni. Choose from three kinds of cheese. Mike says most customers prefer white American, but provolone is available and Cheese Whiz for South Philly fans. Optional items you can add: mushrooms, hot peppers, green bell peppers, banana peppers, sweet

peppers, lettuce, tomato. So Much More to Explore! “People love our cheesesteaks so much that they rarely try anything else, but we have so many delicious choices on our menu,” says Mike. “I always try to encourage our regulars to try something new, but that is a hard battle to win once they have tasted our Philly!” Filling out the menu are a delicious variety of COLD HOAGIES (Italian, Ham & cheese, salami & cheese, turkey & cheese, extra cheese), HOT SANDWICHES (grilled chicken, chicken parmesan, sausage & peppers, sausage & peppers parmesan, breaded fried chicken, breaded fried fish), and a delicious fresh veggie sub. CLUBS include: BLT sandwich, BLT club, turkey club, or ham club. Other favorites are the bone-in wings, boneless wings, burgers, fish & chips and breaded fried shrimp. In addition to the wings, hand-cut fries and fried shrimp, there are many yummy SIDE ORDERS: whole deli pickle (can’t you feel that crisp crunch?), onion rings, fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, cordon bleu poppers, jalapeno poppers – hungry yet? – You can get a side salad, fried okra, a 1/4-lb. all beef hot dog,

macaroni & cheese bites, or a “tastykake.” One of my favorite treats at Best of Philly Cheesesteak House has to be what I call the “gone-in-a-minute” hand-cut fries. They are a perfect side for any club sandwich or burger, or just on their own with a side of gravy or hot cheese. Yes, gravy for your French fries is the ultimate comfort food! Pair those fries with any one of the delicious burgers, hot sandwiches, cold subs or even a variety of appetizers and you’ve got yourself the perfect meal! “You really can’t beat our burgers either,” says Mike. “They are cut in half, stuffed in a soft amoroso roll and piled high with your favorite toppings!” BURGERS on the menu include old favorites hamburger and cheeseburger, but there also is a pizza burger, mushroom burger, bacon burger, sloppy burger, and a loose meat burger. KIDS MENU items include a 4inch cheesesteak, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, cheeseburger, hot dog and all-time-favorite macaroni & cheese bites. All kids’ meals come with kids’ fries or chips and Oreo cookies!

“Cleaning”

Continued from page 1 things about Donna and her company. She is completely dedicated to making sure her clients’ needs are met and as her company has grown, Donna has put key people in place to make sure that every detail is attended to. Her right hand, Office Manager Maria Santilli, was “sent by God” according to Donna. Maria truly appreciates Donna as well, and considers her a mentor. Donna brought on Assistant Office Manager Jerry Brennan and says, “She fits right in with us!” And Steve Insolia, who is in charge of quality control, she says, “He has been a great asset to the company!” As her business continues to grow, she is able to support even more families through year-round, reliable employment, while meeting the needs of a still growing customer base. She says, “It is a great feeling to know that I provide a full time, secure job for 30 people.” Attentive to the details of her company, Donna gives kudos to other likeminded business owners. “We live in a country with a lot of small businesses and I salute all the other small

businesses that are doing things the right way: Protecting themselves, their employees, and their customers by having the proper insurance.” Donna’s hard work has translated into a growing business that now employs nearly 30 people and has a fleet of cars to better service the clients of Donna’s Cleaning Angels. The company is licensed and insured, the employees screened and trained, and Donna’s Cleaning Angels’ teams are held accountable for the job they provide, because the office is in communication with the homeowners and business owners they service, making sure that every cleaning provided is beyond satisfactory.

Professionalism, Start to Finish

From the first moment that new customers talk on the phone to Maria, they realize this is a professional company. Knowledgeable and personable, Maria is ready to answer any questions about Donna’s Cleaning Angels, including availability and the complete list of services the company provides, which are extensive and basically cover any type of cleaning need you have, from weekly cleaning to upholstery and rug cleaning, and much more. and her employees since she first started her business nearly 26 years ago. A businesswoman from a long line of hardworking entrepreneurs, Donna is very proud of her work ethic, which she credits to the way she was raised. Dedication, hard work, and accountability are second nature to Donna. She grew up in Gorham, New Hampshire, and shares, “I am extremely proud and emotional that this year is the 70th Anniversary of my family’s restaurant in Gorham.” True to her family’s hardworking legacy, Donna is steadfast in her dedication to her business, her employees, and her clients. “I can’t believe nearly 26 years have gone by,” says Donna. “This took a lot of dedication…tremendous dedication.” She adds, “I’ve seen a lot of cleaning services come and go, but we are here for the long term. Now we are bigger and better than ever and are the number one cleaning service in Tampa Bay. I am so excited I still have a lot of the same customers for over 20 years!” Maria says, “Customers love how much time Donna takes to meet, greet and explain everything we have to

offer them in person. We are branching out more into commercial cleaning. Such as, doctors’ and real estate offices, insurances agencies and other small businesses.” Potential new customers are provided with a free, inhome estimate, and a folder that contains: Certificates of Liability Insurance for everyone affiliated with Donna’s Cleaning Angels, a copy of the Pasco County business license, written referrals from customers, and informational sheets about Donna’s Cleaning Angels, its history, ownership, and information about the ReferA-Friend program. Residential and commercial clients alike appreciate that Donna’s Cleaning Angels is completely professional about providing such a personal service. Donna says, “Next to your doctor, there’s nothing more personal than your cleaning service, which is why we take so many steps to protect you and make you feel at ease with our service. My customers don’t have to worry because I’ve done the homework and I carry the liability.” Donna values the relationships with her employees, adding, “I really appreciate my hardworking girls. They take care of our customers with much

pride. Our customers love our backto-basics, old-fashioned cleaning techniques, which often remind them of how their grandmothers used to clean.” The teams are trained to clean Donna’s way – the right way! “Some employees have come here that previously worked for other cleaning services, and they are amazed at our training procedures, stating that their previous employers made them watch a video and then sent them off the very next day to clean, unsupervised. Our Angels have on-the-job training for over a month, with a field manager, before they are considered a ‘true cleaning angel.’ It takes time and effort to make sure an employee is 100 percent up to our cleaning standards. Detailed cleaning is what we are known for. Not just a run-through, wipe-down.” To ensure that every client is happy after each cleaning, Donna offers comment cards, regularly checks in with her clients, and has regular meetings with her staff. The Donna’s Cleaning Angels’ logo-wrapped cars and trucks can often be seen around the neighborhoods of West Pasco, Eastern Hills-

borough and North Pinellas Counties, and this hasn’t missed the notice of two of the most important people in Donna’s life. “I’ve been told by family and friends that I don’t give myself enough credit,” shares Donna. “A few weeks ago when my young grandsons came to visit, one said, ‘Grammy you are famous! We see your cars and advertisements all over the place!’ At that moment, I realized how fortunate I am. I told them it takes hard work, determination and strength! I am not a franchise, nor did I have the backing of another company; I did this on my own. It makes me happy to know that this is a legacy that I can now leave my grandchildren.” Donna adds, “At the end of the day I thank God for my blessings – the great people who work for me, a great business, my health, my home, my loved ones and my family. God bless you all and God bless America.” Schedule a free consultation with Donna’s Cleaning Angels at 727-942-8289, and be sure to ask about the Refer-A-Friend program that can earn you a free cleaning.
